My husband and I purchase a sofa yesterday, since there was no measurements on the paperwork my husband called and we realize the sofa is a lot longer than we thought and having an issue to fit the sofa in with the other furniture. I called to the cancel the order and they said all sales final wouldn’t budge. It was my first time in their store and it will be the last time. Once it’s paid you are on your own. We recently purchased a customized dining cabinet from the Furniture Superstore. They couldn’t have been more helpful from Matthew in sales to Scott the store manager with his drafting skills to Sydney at the service desk.

5 years ago I spent 7k with this company, bought all top of the line furniture,1.head to vacuum feather up constantly that constantly that kept coming threw the cushions to the point the cushions had not much cushion left. Threw couch away.2. Bought best mattress lasted 5 years, center of mattress has big dip in center.3 recently ordered a bench to match my bar stools I bought in Feb payed half up front. I was told delivery was going to be June, then was told July and it now August and I was told maybe I might get it in a couple of weeks, I asked if they could do anything for me for the inconvenience and was told No I also asked for my down payment back and was told No

Would not recommend this store to anyone I know. My mother went in to purchase a chair, she was upsold a piece of furniture 6 months ago and still has not received the chair. She tried canceling the order well before the chair was even in production and she was told her purchase was final and there was nothing they would do. They don’t even know when the chair will be in! I reached out to the store 2 weeks ago and no one has responded. Not impressed as I initiallyRecommended them as they are a local family owned business. Not the service I would have expected and not a company that will stand by there customers. I will never return there for anything nor recommend them to anyone I know. GREAT SERVICE. We were assisted by Paul Voisine, assistant store manager of the South Portland Western Avenue location. He was friendly, professional and helpful. He also had patience and a great sense of humor. Another thing I noticed was that the other employees interacted professionally with both one another, and with the customers they were helping. I will say that they didn’t have a lot of in-stock selection, but we still found the perfect sectional for us with Paul’s help and expertise. Paul was great he let us look and try things out but wasnt a typical salesman pushing for us to buy. It was nice my mom was in a wheelchair and he made sure we were able to access every inch of floor room. This place is NOT like a discounted cheap furniture warehouse the quality is top notch and there are prices to fit every budget. We will be back. Everyone there were so nice and friendly and covid cautious as I like to say!

Worst furniture store Ive ever experienced. Several years ago I bought box spring & mattress; they had best price. FS delivered without removing my old water bed (because they came at an inconvenient time, didnt give me enough notice to drain the cylinders) & worst: took advantage of my elderly fathers dementia.

Ordered sectional 20 weeks ago and still no idea when it will be in. The store employees have no interest in doing anything other than making the sale and then you are on your own. Their contract allows no refunds and, if you want to dispute anything you have to attempt to resolve it with them and THEY make the final decision. It goes on to say that after they make their decision, if you choose to pursue the matter any further you will be responsible for all of their legal expenses. I will be contacting the AG on Monday, their terms are completely one sided. When were told 8-10 weeks for delivery and, as the contract is worded, they could take years to deliver and there is no way to fight it.

We bought our sons bed at the South Portland store and Matthew Taylor was our sales associate. He walked us through our ideas and found the perfect size bedroom set that was exactly what we had in mind. He did a fantastic job and was wonderful to work with.

Purchased two sofas back in November of 2021. Was told 8-10 weeks for delivery to store. After 14 weeks the manager wont return a call, Ive called once a week. Was hoping to get some kind of deal on delivery or protection spray. Manager wouldnt call me and made the receptionist say there was nothing they will do. Poor service from a sales manager. Will never do business with this store again

Purchased a king bedroom set for our sons new home. When they went to bring the pieces upstairs, we found out the stairwell in the condo was too narrow for the headboard. The rest of the furniture was placed, and a team of 3 arrived later in the week to bring the headboard in. They had to lift it up through a second floor window, which was no easy feat! However, they did it with great care, teamwork, and maneuvering! NO scratches on the furniture or his new home! Thank you for the excellent customer service and beautiful furniture!

LOVE this store! I moved cross country and needed to replace furniture I chose not to move due to expense. Sales people were exceptionally nice and helpful and extremely well informed about the things sold there. If you are looking for cheap furniture to fill a house, you could do that, there. However, there isn’t press board anywhere to be found and almost everything they stock is made in the USA. The only item(s) I bought that weren’t made in the USA, were made in Canada, not in some awful sweatshop. Furniture is of exceptional quality. Associates are just great! 😁

The sales people are WAY too pushy. I went to this place in 2019 and again in 2020 for two different purposes and had two different people greet me. Both times I clearly stated I was just browsing and didnt need assistance and both times I was followed throughout the store constantly being talked to about the products. They were definitely overbearing and it did not help them make a sale at all.

Don’t ever pay for the extra insurance from this store. We bought a couch that was supposedly leather and the extra insurance. Well leather doesn’t peal and this couch did. The first time it happened they sent someone out and took care of it. The other side started pealing so we called again. This time they said that because we didn’t call within 5 days of it starting they didn’t have to cover it. Went in to talk to furniture store and they said the insurance company changed owners and there was nothing they could do. We have since gotten rid of the couch but still have the loveseat which is hardly ever used and is peeling. Our favorite saying. Furniture superstore, furniture superstore! Don’t go there!

She was so helpful to us for many reasons, but we especially loved that she didnt follow us around like so many sales people do. What is up with this store ? You older and pay, given a date to receive the item and that date comes and go then told covid is to blame and there is nothing they will do. Then when it is finally delievered, weeks late, what do you receive, ....... The floor model that who knows how many people have sat on and something they told you they never ever would ever doYou paid full price for a brand new not used piece of furniture. When called out on I it the new set was given to someone else waiting after being told to live with it they would give a discount only if a document is sign stating no complant will be made by them about the bait and switch scam. Personally I would go someplace else but if you do, the day of dekievery go see it the used floor model is still in the store.

I have been buying furniture from the Furniture Superstore since 2015. The store and delivery personnel are outstanding!

The Furniture Superstore has several different locations. I can only review their South Portland Maine location as that is where we bought our bedroom set. In or around July 2020 we bought a Maine made bedroom ensemble. My wife and I made several trips before buying. We found the sales staff to be very helpful with very little pressure being applied. We decided on buying an English Oak set. They offered us 1 year free interest which we decided to use. The process had a few bumps in the application process and finally were resolved. We made arrangements and the set was delivered. After its delivery we noticed some of the pieces had stain imperfections (apparently missed at their maker’s Quality Control protocol).We called the SP’s person in charge (Scott) who asked us to call their CSR Mgr by the name of Lynelle. She asked us what the problem was, we explained it to her and she arranged for two pieces to be exchanged. When the replacements arrived there was only one and that one was worse than ours. I called Lynelle again, explained our predicament and we were asked to come to the SP store to see how they could make things better. In the meantime we received a phone call from Joe the owner of the Maine manufacturer asking for our reasons for the dissatisfaction and was very apologetic. He told us he wanted to make things good for us and have us as satisfied customers. In the long run he did and kept his word.We went to the SP store and spoke to the store mgr Scott. He offered us another English Oak set which we refused as my wife no longer wanted to deal with the English Oak stain color she had chosen. In looking at other Maine made selections available from this furniture maker we decided to exchange our English Oak selection for a Maple bedroom ensemble with a Cognac stain finish. We bought the English Oak set in early July and exchanged it for the Maple ensemble in late July.Due to COVID-19 circumstances, furniture makers were backlogged 4 to 8 weeks+. The Maine furniture owner/maker Joe told us he would cut this downtime to 3 to 4 weeks as he felt bad for us (good service we thought). We got to keep our English Oak set until our Maple set was delivered (we thought that was nice of them). You need to understand the reason I believe they did this besides GOOD PR is my wife is super clean. When they picked up our Oak set it was in as good condition as it was originally given us.As for the delivery people, 5*; the sales staff, 5*; the people dealing with complaints and making the customer whole and feel well treated, 5*; the quality control people overlooking the furniture prior to deliver, 3*; people in charge of arranging for 0% financing, 4*. Hence overall 4*. However, a Furniture Superstore customer really has to be able to advocate for himself/herself. It is a big operation trying to make it a small operation feel of doing business. They are trying hard and in our case we feel succeeded.Ray & Arlene

I was pleasantly surprised by the professional of the sales staff and the quality options available at the Furniture Superstore. I figured I would find low quality, cheap stuff that I truly wouldn’t want in my house. Sure, there was a range, but I was able to find several lines that were solid “real” wood, available in a range of finishes at a price I could not find anywhere else. I definitely have a new level of respect for this furniture retailer, and I will definitely shop here again and again!

I dont have an eye for interior design but the sales rep offered their expertise by helping pick out pieces that would match the decor of my house and guided me through the whole process. I will buy from Amazon or Walmart before I buy from here again. Waited almost 2 months for a couch to arrive AFTER paying for it and when I just asked for my money back they said no. You can get ANYTHING at Amazon that you can in ANY store. And get a refund on almost ANYTHING. Even if you purchase it in FULL.

Went in to get furniture for several different rooms and the staff took the time to show me around and guide me to furniture that they thought would work well together and fit the style I was looking for. Lisa is still there and we’re going back this weekend.

I hate shopping and was dragged by my wife to buy a new sectional and dining room set. To my surprise I found the low pressure staff at the furniture superstore very helpful and accommodating. We found exactly what we wanted. They matched a competitors price. Their delivery charge is 1/5 of their competitors. They were fun to talk to. That’s how you get my business. I’ll be back.

I am greatly impressed with the level of service I received today. After shopping at several different furniture stores, being told that delivery would be out by two weeks, we were getting anxious as we had just bought our house and have limited time off to get it fully furnished. The major difference that made us decide this was where we would purchase everything here was this company’s enthusiasm in getting our needs met. The salesman was not pushy at all and addressed everything we were looking for. The prices are extremely reasonable and I am thrilled with everything we purchased today. Glad I could purchase a few Made in Maine pieces! My kids are too! The delivery was also a very positive experience. He took the time to understand where we wanted things and was extremely careful in getting the pieces in place. This has been one of the most pleasant and positive purchasing experiences my husband and I have had in a long time. Keep up the great work and thank you for exceeding our expectations!

I enjoyed the selection, for the most part. It seemed like quality pieces, but sort of lacking in originality. Some pieces were said to be locally made. I did not enjoy the poor attitude I saw when we mentioned some competitor options that had a significantly lower price tag. The salesman sort of wrote us off from the second we walked in and kept down talking the place we had just come from.

This is a store to avoid if you are looking for quality furniture and service. They mis represented a living room set as full leather which turned out to be real leather only on the seat cushions. When the recliner started to peel apart, we got the story that those parts were really bonded leather and there was no recourse for us. Now I own a $900 recliner that looks terrible and will need to be reupholstered to be able to be kept in our home. I for one will never darken their door again.

After dumping 4k for new furniture, took way to long for them to deliver to the house. I could have had delivered some of the items but then they charge you to deliver the items that not yet arrived. I had the new house all ready the day before we where to move in for the beds. Needless to say, a week later is when the beds came in. The prices were comparable to Bobs Discount, save a few hundred. Then when the items are to arrive, The couch was the wrong color, The autumn was the wrong color. We told them what color, even had the dam thing on display. Then the delivery people where outstanding. (3rd party they used). Well The couch does not seem to be the same type when we sat on one in the store. This on seems a lot CHEAPER.Overall, I would not go back to this store. Lot of fast talking, And the store does not seem to back what they sell. After reading others post. They BEST not waste there time calling me...

We have gotten beds, mattresses, and a couch here over the last few years. They have a lot to choose from. Decent quality without being ridiculously expensive.

Staff was well knowledgeable and the movers were so kind and helpful getting everything in and set up properly!

I just had my new sofa/chaise delivered and it was done so efficiently! From purchase to delivery i had an excellent experience and will definitely do business here again! Thank you to all the staff for making this such a hassle free experience for me!

If I could give it this company zero stars I would. We bought a customized couch from them and had to be built.from scratch. It took 6 weeks to make and cost almost $6,000. When it was delivered it did not have the back pillows attached like we ordered. So we decided to have it returned and made how we ordered and paid for it to be made. 2 weeks later I call and see what the status of the couch is and they said they never sent it back because they were trying to get the builders of the couch to let them keep the couch that was made improperly and then just have the builders make and send a whole new one. Well the builders said No and that they needed Furniture superstore to send back the couch to get fixed. Furniture superstore never did because it was going to cost them a ton of money in shipping fees for a mistake they didnt make. So they give me the option of getting a full refund or actually returning the couch For the builders to.fix. I took the refund, they do not deserve my money, and never will get it again. You should not waste your money there either. Im sorry but this is beyond horrible customer service. They are borderline con artists. DONT SHOP HERE!!!

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. We ordered two chairs in October, its now January and they have no idea when well receive them. They will refuse to provide a time frame and the little girl that took my call basically laughed at me for complaining. They will NEVER get any business from us again and I hope they dont from you either. HUB furniture in Portland has better prices and better customer service

Should you experience any issues with your purchase and contact the store for assistance, you will be met with unanswered voice mail messages, no help whatsoever, and overall marginal customer service. I purchased two, swivel base Stressless recliners at a very hefty price. The showroom chairs I tested swiveled very easily, but our purchased chairs are horrible to move from side to side. One would expect effortless swivel action from chairs that cost almost $3000 each and that the swivel mechanism would be constructed of materials other than plastic! Allen Furniture Superstores return policy is garbage to say the least, and I have painfully learned my lesson for not reviewing it carefully before I made the purchase. I will no longer shop at any Furniture Superstores in the future.

Very large selection of furniture, both high end and budget. Didnt like the hovering sales people though. I like browsing at my own pace and not feeling rushed so the sales person can get on to the next commission. If I have any questions I will find someone.

Here is our experience. 1st we went to the store in Lisbon we found a set we really liked. we checked other stores out. Then went to the furniture supper store in south Portland to see if they had the same set as we had seen in Lisbon. They did but it was priced 40.00 higher than the set in Lisbon. So I told the sale lady this. She said thats not possible it cant be the same set. I let her know it was and I had taken a pic of it also the tag with upc that matched theirs. So she took my phone with the pic to her boss. Which was the owner. He come over and saidhe would give us the cheaper price rightnow and he was calling Lisbon and having them raise their price. And said it must be a shipping cost difference. We let them know we were looking around and would be back tomorrow. He fall owed us to the next set we looked at and said we could loose the set we liked if we didnt buy then. And also it would be 40.00 more if we came back tomorrow. I asked him why he wouldnt give it to us for the price of the Lisbon store. Cause we could just drive to Lisbon and save 40.00 he said he was RAISING THE PRICE OF THE SET IN LISBON. I let him know he just lost me as a customer because the right thing to do was give us the lower price not raise the price and try to pressure us into buying. My boy friend told him he was a ripoff and customer service sucked. We went to walk out. He came out of the store arguing with my boyfriend and said. You guys werent going to buy any thing any ways.

We were welcomed as soon as we walked in. Rather than just showing us what was on sale, Richard, took the time to ask us about our interests and our lifestyle. Of course he showed us the big holiday push item, but he wasnt pushy. With Richards help we purchased a sofa, love seat, and a queen size bed frame. I will MOST DEFINITELY return to that location!

I really debated whether I should spend any more time and energy writing a review of this place, but if it helps one potential customer from ever entering their door it will have been worth it.After doing much research on sofa manufacturers and models, my wife and I decided on one particular manufacturer and 2 models. Furniture Superstore is the only dealer of the manufacturer we chose in Maine. Despite the many bad ratings and experiences of this store, we decided to go in anyway to get pricing information and to pick fabric so they could go through a pricing exercise with us, with the potential of making a purchase if all went well, since we knew exactly what we wanted and would double/triple check any order placed.We went to the store. I told the sales lady we wanted pricing on these models and she said they were having their annual floor sample sale and she would check and see if they could price out our request.As she walked away I really didnt think much of it. We were live customers with our wallets open. We went over and selected several fabrics for inclusion in the pricing. Several minutes later, a tall Millennial approached. His non-verbals strongly suggested he was annoyed, and his words clearly matched. He said we are having our floor sample sale today and we will not do any pricing until tomorrow, so come back tomorrow in a very indignant tone - he might as well have said dont bother us with your pricing request - you dont matter to me as a customer today. I asked if he was a manager, and he said that he was. We walked out.As a customer, I find this behavior repulsive. How would the remainder of the transaction have gone if this had not been floor sample sale day? Im now glad we we didnt get the chance to find out. I can clearly see that this business has no regard for their customers, or even potential customers by this experience, and by the many bad reviews reported.They say that 1 in 20 people go the the trouble of complaining of a bad customer service experience. Just think of the number of dissatisfied customers this place has generated. Stay far away. They have no idea how to treat customers and apparently dont think its very important. BUYER BE WARE!!!The initial buy of our leather couch and recliner was great and we were happy with our purchase and price. We worked with the sales rep to be sure we were buying quality furniture and leather (Sorry I dont recall all the leather terminology) and well warrantied. Delivery was on time and professional.Fast forward 2 years and 11 months. The cushions are getting soft and uncomfortable. The top quality leather is all discoloring. After speaking with customer service, there is no warranty on my furniture. Im stuck with 3yr old Lightly Used furniture that is crap.Very disappointed and am sorry I dont buy Bobs or Lazy Boy. For the record, by brother bought couches from Bobs 2 months before I bought mine, hes get a lot more use and are still in perfect shape.

My husband and I special ordered a sleeper sofa from their South Portland store one year ago.This is the absolute worst purchase we have ever made. I so wish I had complained sooner but I had just had a baby and some major surgery. I had better things to do than complain - but now I wish I had. Here are my issues…1. The bed folds down into the body of the sofa so far that the cushions also sink down into the wooden base of the sofa. When you get up from the sofa, you have to reach down and pull the cushions back out of the base of the sofa since they got wedged in when you sat down. The cushions were out of shape almost immediately.2. The “Queen” size mattress is MUCH smaller than queen size. The queen size bedding we have is way too big for it. We paid extra to have the upgraded mattress but it is too small.We special ordered this and it was a WASTE of money.

Today, my husband Juan and I walk into the store looking to buy a couch. There’s an employee sitting at a table at the entrance greeting people. To the older white couple who walked in right in front of us, he says “hey folks! Can I help you find something?” The couple says “no we’re just looking”. They continue into the store. The employee looks at us and says “are you looking for the bathroom?” I say, “no.... we are looking for furniture”. He looks confused and says “huh?” I say “furniture. We are looking for furniture.” In response he just says “oh okay”. Not offering to help us. And I am not sure if it’s because we’re young or if it’s because Juan is a minority but this man is definitely prejudiced. Why else would he assume we just need a bathroom? This makes me so angry.
