On the border between the landscape part of the Catherine Park and the New Garden of the Alexander Park, a Chinese pavilion was built, which is also called the Squeaky. Work on the construction of this pavilion, which is interesting because of its exoticism, began at the same time as the construction of the Chinese Village and was carried out from 1778 to 1786, the process was supervised by the famous Russian architect I.V. Neyelov, and the project itself was developed by the architect Yu.M. Felten. The gazebo is located in a fairly beautiful place - on the isthmus between two ponds.

Yuri Felten here also tried to create an exotic pavilion with a Chinese roof, a tower and a weather vane in the form of a Chinese banner in 1786. When rotating in the wind, the weather vane makes a loud creak. Hence the name of the gazebo - Squeaky. Against the background of the reservoir, the place is very picturesque, long noticed by couples in love.

How talented the creators of the park were able to fit such an unusual structure into the surrounding landscape! How beautiful it turned out!And the gazebo itself is so elegant and, on the other hand, smoothly transfers the visitor from (or vice versa, to) the Chinese village to other parts of the park. And its really squeaky.

The Chinese Pavilion or the Squeaky Arbor was created in 1778 - 1786. Architect J. Felten. Catherine II was fond of Chinese culture, and therefore in the garden there was an arbor for tea drinking, fishing and meeting the dawn, that is how arbors were used in China. The diverse complex design with rich decor has an exotic look. On the roof of the gazebo there are three weathercocks in the form of Chinese banners that creak from the wind during rotation, so the second name is Squeaky arbor.By the 300th anniversary of Tsarskoye Selo, the arbor was completely restored.

A beautiful old gazebo, recently restored. It is very beautiful outside, inside only the lower central room is open for free access. It is very strange that the upper floors of the gazebo are closed to the public and climbing is prohibited.
