Brought my head in to the shop. The nice and informative guy at the counter told me oh you can probably just do this and that with your cylinder head. Went home and did what he said and boom worked like a charm. My motorcycle runs great now too. Thanks for the advice. Im definitely doing business with them in the future.
Kyle is good people !! This is jay fatino from champion Chevrolet
Ames industrial machining has always done good work for me years ago I had a 302 rebuilt by the shop and it is performed excellent since. The more homework and research you do on the work you want done the better informed you will be take those notes and ideas to the machine shop and tell them what you require with the materials you give them. I havent been disappointed.
I took an engine block to them to have it worked over redying it for a bore and stroke job. Besides taking 4 months to do the work, the work was incomplete. I furnished all engine components I wanted installed, top quality brand name forged internals. Items I had them remove from engine was never returned and some items I had dropped shipped to the shop were missing when I got the engine home. (They had Dave load stuff in my truck.) The Block I picked they sent me home with ws not the engine block I gave them to work on. Part of the work to put the Stroker Crankshaft in my engine was to clearance the lower cylinder walls. This was not done! I had told them their was other things I needed done to bring my block up to standards for this work. This work was not completed either. I had to take the block to another engine rebuild shop and at additional cost which should have been done by them. Theres more but this is the main point. Please read all reviews and heed. Their reviews re not as good as these here on Google.
06/102018 Did a nice job of resurfacing an aluminum head, quick turnaround. Revisited recently 06/15-2020 to get a another head resurfaced. Again quick turn around but they charged an extra $30 for cleaning, the Quote I was given was was for $80 with no mention of the hidden fee. Aims now charges a 4% fee for using your credit card. Also have signs posted stating if you dont come get your product in 10 days we start charging rent to store it and we will sell your parts. Also had to do some cleaning myself as there was greasy grime build up around some spark plug sockets. If your going to charge for cleaning make sure you do complete clean. Get Rid of Raven the employee working at Aims and maybe you can turn around this business
Super nice staff, they cleaned some nasty parts for a really cheap price. Theres 20 places to get your engine stuff done in sparks but I think you can make AIMS your first stop.
The people werenso nice and helpful
Awesome job resurfacing heads, no additional costs, timely too!
**A little late on a review but better late than never**My husband took his v10 to these guys about 8 months ago. Pretty much an entire rebuild, give or take. They definitely did a 5 star job. Will be going back for any future needs on our personal vehicles and our company vehicles.Raymond has been a family friend for many, many years and we very much appreciate his and the entire teams hard work, communication and dedication. Thanks guys
They had my head for almost 9 weeks just to clean, resurface, and replace a few valves. Very poor turnaround.
Super fast turnaround and lowest price by 10% from other shops I had called.
Great place Great owners and employees. Reasonable rates and quality machine work with quick turn around. In the lobby by the service counter they have premachined parts ready to go waiting for new owners to install.
They done good by me
Great machine shop. They do quality work and come up with solutions I didnt know were even available. Highly recommended!
Great machine shop.
I have used Aims Machine shop for 5 years on a number of engine builds and always received excellent service.
Absolutely wouldn’t recommend this machine shop. Charged over the original quote, which they messed up to begin with as I clearly stated what I wanted done. Parts were done a week after I was told and for $60 more. Extremely disappointed. What happened to decent customer service? It’s sad that there is a limited selection of machine shops in the Reno area, but when choosing, make this one the last on your list. Unless you want unfixable parts ruined at the shops own discretion, at the cost of even more of your own money.
These guys are top shelf! Being an ex-engine machinist I brought my parts to them and they did an excellent job however there was a problem with my cylinder heads. The surface was dinged up a bit possibly my fault in transport, they didnt even hesitate to redo it at no additional cost. Highly recommend these guys they go the extra mile and care about you!
Excellent Service. Knowledge Staff.
Wouldnt install my parts from a reputable toyota parts dealer.. motor didnt last 10k before losing compression in #5... 90 4runner... all they would do for me was install the headstuds and mlw head gaskets.. when i told them the block andnheads needed a ra8 surface finish the guys eyes glazed over... if you want to pay 3k to have 10k mile motor by all means have them do the work..
Got a flywheel machined and it was done quick and absolutely beautifully. I always recommend Aims.
Charged $50 over quote to install sleeve ($140), poor quality job (sleeve installed about 1mm too low). Messed up one cylinder bad enough (tried to grind ports to line them up, and they tried to pass it off as acceptable), had to reorder sleeve (they covered it). Also had to dremel the sleeve so that the power valve would work (they were suppose to check power valve function).
***Do not give aims your money!!!! Horrible costumer service. When they tell you your parts will be done they never are. They charged over what they quoted me for. And when I got the parts back they were not done right and they would not give me my money back. They did not do what I asked them to do or what I payed for them to do
So guess I must be one of the old school! Had a Ford 200 six decked and reworked after another local machine shop left it in unusable condition. Major hot rod redo. Been runnin strong for years. Got an AMC 360 in the garage with another major redo. Chevy pistons, modified rods, honed, decked, Shiney as a new penney. All the work looks first rate. No complaints from this shade tree mechanic.
Best place
I called the Kawasaki dealer for service and they said they send all their heads to aims or pro circuit. I decided to drive my 2013 kx450f head down to them since kawi does the same. Guys have great customer service but are lacking knowledge on high rpm, high performance dohc all aluminum motors. I asked if they could double check my head and make sure it wasnt warped. I decided to ask them if it was warped what they would do for a general service ie disassemble, bead blast, check seats, valves, and vacuum test. I also asked if they would install beryllium copper seats, the old guy behind the counter said what for? I answered back that copper is easier on the titanium valves and pulls heat out of the cylinder faster. He replied copper is weaker than steel. Fair enough but I dont plan on keeping the head bolted down for a whole year. That conversation let me know how much these guy know about anything race oriented. So they laid a piece of steel on it and said yeah you should be fine but if you want to make sure we can vacuum test it. If Im going to pay these guy to vacuum test it I might aswell throw my money away. No thank you! I would only let these guys work on my lawn mower head or something built before 1980, they are obviously old school machinists. If you need service on a high compression, high rpm, all aluminum, race motorcycle motor save your money and call Brent at Fast heads in St George Utah.
They do what you ask.
Awsome
