Love going to get athletic gear and seeing g the various types of outdoor sports equipment they have.

Everything you could want for outdoor fun. Everything I was looking for was in stock and at a good price. Sales staff were friendly and helpful.

Great place for sports equipment

Went in there on Tuesday to purchase a box of .308 rounds and staff member told me they were sold out. I had noticed they were stacked behind another caliber and I pointed them out and he sold them to me. Note they weren’t not what I was looking for to hunt with but right now you take what you can get. But I leave the leave store and realize I had forgotten to purchase something else and return 10 minutes later and walk through the section where he is selling the ammo and low and behold there’s more.308s cartridges of another brand that were not out previously. I would have rather had those the first time. So is the store intentionally not putting all of what they have out or what.

They dont have boots that they say are in the store

Great big box store great staff

Inside the store was set up in blocks that were confusing to navigate. Outside, it was like a maze trying to just get to the store. All in all, found some good deals on some really nice clothing items.

It’s better that other academy sports I’ve been to in other towns. They have a pretty good selection of items at all price ranges.

Very disappointed in the staff at the Starkville, MS location we were browsing and eventually made a decent purchase from the fishing section, but the whole time we had employees watching our every move...by the way they should have noticed our credentials as State Law Enforcement Officials.

Good selection. They even have my 1 inch chlorine tablets for my pool. I cant find them anywhere else

Went to buy an expensive knife, got to the checkout counter and the price rang up wrong. The cashier told me to take it back to the gun counter and figure it out, even though he had a radio on his shoulder. Not really a big deal but kinda ticked me off so I told him to keep it. My wife and I don’t go back here.

Its a pretty nice place. Just may need to call to make sure they have what ur looking for before u go. If they dont have it, they may order it for ya. But call, and make sure. I often have to do it before wasting a trip

The good prices are not worth the awful service. I’ve been there three times and have had bad service each time. I would recommend online shopping, cheaper and no hassle.

This place is great. Everything was clean and orderly.

A lot of empty shelves, and even though there were a number of employees milling around, I had to wait in line a long time to check out because the customer service desk was the only place ringing people up.

Customer service not good at all! In store yesterday looking at rod reels, 3 employees standing there talking and not one ask me if they could help. Not short on help at all, just not very well managed..

The staff is very friendly....However, I tried to buy the CAP Barbell Solid 7 ft Bar on Saturday (11/14/20) at the Starkville, MS location and was told that I had to buy a plate set to go with it. Apparently, nobody was buying the plates and Academy couldnt move them. The total set was ~$250. Forcing a customer to buy a $250 weight set in order to get a $60 bar because of poor supply chain decisions is horrible customer service.

Very friendly service

My visit was fine but I only gave three stars because when my daughter tried to exchange a medium sized item we purchased prior to Christmas for a small size, the cashier charged her $6 or $7. I am extremely displeased with this act and even questioned store employees about the practice while o made some purchases last evening. I understand it is not store policy which is a relief; I hope you are able to curtail such acts in the future.

I went in to get some .380 rounds and the customer service was A1 and they have all your needs in other calibers for great will go back for more.

The best selection

This store is a complete joke! I love academy at other locations, but the complete mismanagement of this branch is very evident. Just today, I purchased an item that apparently had been opened and returned with parts missing. Outside the store kayaks have been sitting in the sun delapidating. I feel as though the owner should focus more on finding quality management rather than highering cheap college labor with a lackadaisical attitude.

Apparently this store doesnt believe that women need outdoor clothes. Of course the men get a large section with Magellan and Columbia shirts and hiking pants, but obviously women couldnt possible want to do something active that requires more substantial clothing. Absurd.

Called before driving 2 hrs away and was told they had a item in stock low and behold when we get there the system still show it but they say its out and cant find it. Poor service and poor inventory counts. Then they tried to sale me something I did not even want.
