We love Dolce Vita! We usually drop in monthly for cupcakes, and have special ordered a butter cream based birthday cake as well as a peanut butter pie.Their staff are friendly and they have a wide variety of treats here. I really appreciate that they carry both dairy free and gluten free cupcakes!

We had two birthday celebrations last weekend for a group of 50 Penn State alumni. One night was for a 60th birthday, the other night was for a 30th birthday. All I can say is WOW! Both gluten free cakes far exceeded our expectations. Not only were the spectacular cakes the centerpiece of our parties, but they were the most delicious cakes weve ever had. Because we were coming from out of town, all communications were via email, and they made it so easy for us to place our orders. One cake was chocolate with buttercream icing and peanut butter filling, the other cake had raspberry filling. Equally good. I highly recommend this bakery if you are looking for something truly special!

I dont love any bakery more than Dolce Vita. I love chocolate cakes and having highly sensitive taste buds and sense of smell, in most of the other cakes, I can feel the eggs in the cakes. But not in Dolce Vitas cakes - they are just the best moistest cakes. For my husbands phd defense, they were very kind to accommodate my request and the cake was just as expected. There was a spelling mistake in the name but thats ok. The cake was neatly decorated and ofcourse delicious! Previously, we have also ordered cake pops from them for my birthday and they too were so yum! I keep coming back to them and frankly, if you believe me, dont even bother going any place else if youre looking for the perfect cake for your occasion.

Communication is ON POINT. The cake we ordered was so yummy. NOT DRY! it was so moist and the icing was very good too! When I picked my cake up, I bought a Gluten free cupcake. Oh my gosh. Can you say Yum to a chocolate cupcake with raspberry icing ? I didnt realize how GOOD this place was.

The gluten-free cupcakes and cake pops are good, but I am disappointed about the service I received when ordering a cake, not once but twice. I tried to order via phone and was told to place the order online. I tried to order G.F. cookies in the store. First, no one knew if the bakery could make them, and second, I was disappointed that I couldn’t make an in-person order right then. Instead, the clerk told me to place a cake and cookie order through the online website. I drove 45 minutes to get there to place an order in person.

Our family LOVES Dolce Vita, sparkling clean, comfortable and delicious. The staff and owners are knowledgeable friendly and professional. After picking up some anniversary goodies and cupcakes for my wife, my office manager mistakenly swiped a cupcake. Initially I was annoyed, but she picked up some vegan cupcakes to make up for the indiscretion. Though not a vegan personally, I tried them and was absolutely blown away.

Large variety of pastries and confectionery delights. In all honesty it was the best cupcake Ive ever had. The premium Alabaster Coffee was a real perk. The bakery has a clean and inviting aesthetic. Friendly staff who were very attentive. This is the best bakery in town.

Ordered a Thanksgiving Apple pie for 30 dollars. It was overpriced for the quality. It was a good pie. It was deep dish; perhaps thats how they justified the high price for quality. Ive gotten cookies and cake pops there before that were wonderful and fun for kids! The service is always pleasant and the place fun to visit. I may stick to cookies and cupcakes and just not order their pie or muffins again. Both fine but not fabulous like I expected for the price.

The customer service was great and speedy, prices were pretty decent, and the treats were amazing! Highly recommend the french macarons and the raspberry white chocolate scones. Has a great mood and atmosphere, definitely will be coming back.

The cake was moist and the icing was sweet, but not overly sweet. Our guests are still raving about how good this cake was. Dolce Vita did the cake and cupcake tree for our wedding. It was beautiful! 100x better than I imagined it was going to be when I picked it out. We got to choose 3 flavors for the cupcakes and a separate flavor for the cake. All of them were delicious, and my husband and I had such a fun experience trying out all the flavors at the cake tasting. All our guests loved the cupcakes. Thank you so much!

For my husbands birthday I had purchased a pineapple walnut cake last year and did the same this year. It is one of Marys grandmas recipe and it tastes so authentic and homemade. Mary is very helpful and dependable. Dolce Vita desserts is very welcoming and has very meticulously designed sweet treats. I have purchased their amazingly delicious cupcakes many times as well. The baked goods - outstanding. The staff - cheerful and helpful. The owner - entirely unreliable. My wife and I ordered a specifically designed cake for a special occasion. As the date neared, we repeatedly called and e-mailed to clarify specs on our order. On each occasion, we were essentially told, dont worry, theres plenty of time, and were on top of things. Through that process, the owner (& chief designer for our cake) never spoke to my wife or me directly.Finally, at the proverbial eleventh hour, we received a curt (and wholly unapologetic) e-mail from the owner saying that she could not make the cake to our design requests. At this point, we could not make alternate arrangements, so we were stuck.I will admit, the taste was outstanding, and delivery to the Nittany Lion Inn for our event was handled without issue. Still, I am shocked by the cavalier and condescending attitude displayed by the owner. I will never go back.

Dolce Vita Desserts recently did the cake and dessert tray for my sons 1st birthday party. Everything looked amazing and most importantly tasted amazing. They were especially helpful because in the beginning we werent really sure what we wanted. We sent a lot of emails back and forth and the end result was better than we could have anticipated. The cake was exactly how I had envisioned. The assorted desserts were excellent too. Overall, we had a great experience and will ordering from Dolce Vita Desserts again.

We chose Dolce Vita Desserts for our wedding May 31, 2014. It was a great, simple and seamless experience. I spoke with Mary over the phone and explained what I was looking for and she worked with me from then on over email. I sent her a photo of a cake as inspiration, with leaves cascading down the sides, and she did a wonderful job.Guests at the wedding loved the cake, too! A number of people asked me where we got it.Today is our one year anniversary, and I called Mary this past Tuesday to ask if shed make us a miniature version of the same cake for today. Even though she admitted to being very busy this week, she came through for us again. The cake was just as wonderful today as it was a year ago.I would definitely recommend Dolce Vita Desserts to anyone.

I ordered a dozen cupcakes for a friend back in State College, PA. When I called, Melissa was super sweet, helpful for what to order, and the note to be sent with the order. Hands down best customer service, each cupcake was perfectly decorated and fabulously delicious. I will definitely be using Dolce Vita Desserts for all my future sweet treat needs.

I have always been disappointed with the quality of pastries in State College, but Dolce Vita has really been a pleasant surprise. The moist but not heavy cupcakes with an ever-changing selection from standards to exotic flavors specials have made it a movie night standard in my house. I was there earlier today, and the small shop was overflowing with different confections from cakes to cookies, and the place smelled and looked terrific. We have served the cupcakes at a number of events now, and our guests rave about them. If you live in State College, this is one not to miss.

Their baked goods are phenomenal however, customer service was awful. Called at 145pm and said, verbatim, Hi! Id like to place an order for delivery, or am I calling too late? Maggie told me she would go to check to see if someone was there who could deliver. She set the phone down and proceeded to say to her co-workers how rude I was for asking such a question. She never came back to the phone. After more than 5 minutes of her being gone I hung up.Maggie, there was nothing rude about the question that I asked. It was in the afternoon and I was genuinely nervous that I missed the window to place an order for a delivery. Making snide remarks, leaving a customer on the phone for more than 5 minutes, and not answering my subsequent callbacks is rude.

Mary has been wonderful since we met her and Dolce Vita. I am a retail manager and she is a favorite among my health conscience employees. A month ago she baked a cake to congratulate an employee on a promotion; who is Vegan. She asked what we wanted and even though she had no clue what it was we wanted she looked at photos an executed! And today I went an got another employee a cupcake to say congrats on an achievement! Whenever I need something a little special for myself or someone else I always come to Dolce Vita as I know I wont be disapointed! ☺

I was expecting the cupcakes to be good, but I had no idea a cupcake could taste that good! Now I am addicted! The frosting is light and airy and not overly sweet. They taste fresh and homemade.

I have been visiting Dolce Vita for about the last three years. Everything I have purchased there has been excellent...cookies, cupcakes, brownies and birthday cakes. This year my daughter wanted a Tangled cake for her birthday. I ordered in the shop, but finalized all the decorations through email with Mary. The cake was beautiful. My daughter was thrilled as were the other girls. Everyone wanted to know where I got it. Most importantly, the cake was delicious!

Mary has done many birthday cakes for us in the past. This year, I asked if she could do a special cake for our daughter and I only gave her one week and a picture. The cake turned out great and it tasted fantastic!! Weve had nothing but great experiences with Dolce Vita Desserts.

We got cupcakes from this shop over the summer and they were really good. We went to visit friends on Thanksgiving eve and one of their guests brought a pumpkin pie to the dinner. Feeling obligated to try a piece of the pie, I was blown away. I have never had better pumpkin pie. Ever. Anywhere.So I sent the owner an email to see if perhaps there was a pie left over that I could have for my very own. Not only did she accommodate my needs but even offered to meet me at her shop on Monday since I was already scheduled to be in State College that day for other business. Now heres a lady who not only knows how to bake, but knows a thing or two about great customer service.My kids are coming over for dinner on Monday. The only question in my mind now is do I share? What the heck...I guess this is the season.

My son and I have a fun, long standing tradition of stopping in for a treat at Dolce Vita Desserts every Friday on the way home from preschool and the entire experience *never* disappoints. The owner is always kind, friendly, and accommodating and I enjoy seeing (and smelling!) the variety of sweets week after week--it seems theres always at least six or seven types of cookies alone to choose from! I love the cookies, I love the lemon bars (perfection), and I cant get enough of the brownies. Im sorry (and surprised) one reviewer did not like them. Honestly, the first time I had one I told my husband Id found the best brownie ever. And Im no stranger to brownies. Its the perfect combination and balance of moist chocolaty-ness and fluffiness. Ive given them as little gifts multiple times to friends, teachers, etc. For Thanksgiving I ordered an apple and pumpkin pie and everything from the presentation to the crust to the flavor was just right. Absolutely delicious. Im so glad I did that instead of getting pies from Wegmans. When I moved to State College I didnt expect to find a bakery I loved as much as my favorite cupcake shop in Chicago but Dolce Vita Desserts goes to show you dont have to live in a big city to enjoy homemade high quality delectables.
