Grocery store with great service and decent prices plus fuel saver

6 people in this store are so very friendly and helpful. Linda, Randy, Mike, Donna, Dan and Tammy. All long time employees. I was in a couple weeks ago and 1 person was ahead of me. His item did not scan. Checker ask him what the price was. Finally she sent a person to check the price. Then when he left the checker and that person started chatting about something not work related. Then that person looked at me in surprise, like I had just got in line. I bought 3 items and 2 did not scan. Two weeks ago I went in and bought 2 pork loins and other items. One of my pork loins did not get put in my cart. After I got home I called and they had it. They told me I could come back and get it. I drove back to town and was in line for over 15 minutes. The poor girl was overwhelmed. I ask a young man if he could ask where my loin was. He didnt know. It was not worth the drive back and wait. Help should have been called. As a 38 year former employee of Hy-Vee, I was disappointed. The other issue I had was I went to the cheese Island. I stood for over 30 seconds. No one else in line. Then I saw the person wipe her nose with her glove on. I left.

Always great prices, friendly checkers (Dont have to self-checkout). Also do a lot for the community!

Ordered a meat n cheese tray for 20 people online. Wanted it same day. My order switched to 2 days later. They could not find my order but went ahead and made it for me in 20 min. Was grateful for that but, I got sandwiched tray instead of a meat n cheese tray. Not sure if I got my moneys worth. Spent over $50.

Ive shopped here for years until the recent decline. Another reshuffling of the shelves, restocking of products during busy shopping hours and dodging pallets in the isles by kids who make you shop around them, low quality produce on top of almost nonexistent rewards anymore. Lastly 20 minutes at times in the customer service line for a lottery ticket or tobacco product held up by Western Union M/Os and bill payments. HyVee is now Walmart 2.0. Fortunately it forced me to Fareway, where the meat and produce are amazing, the prices are somewhat better and the courteousness of the employees is off the charts! Ill miss the older checkers there but its beyond worth the headache.

They have the best selection of angus meat fresh and cut the way you want.

Meat counter is A #1, store also has a awesome produce section, is very clean with a excellent selection of products.

Sometimes theres not anybody around if you need help finding a product or up at the registers sometimes there isnt enough cashiers an your standing in line awhile.

First time shopping at a HyVee. Im from Texas and was very impressed. Excellent deli, produce, meal planning and pre-prep food (healthy foods) choices, very reasonable prices. Very, very friendly helpful staff that are very knowledgeable about products and where to find them. Also providing suggestions and personal taste choices. Plenty of staff on hand, no long waits for anything. Clean facility, clean parking lot. I will be back.

Awesome customer service. If you ever encounter an issue/problem/concern (because no one is perfect) they will ensure that you are taken care of. That goes to show how important customer service means to them.

Great Hyvee location that a small town has to offer. Not a West Des Moines location but close! Great selection except maybe some of the produce.

I could not be more pleased with the customer service from my local HyVee. Tonight’s experience with Caleb, and aisles online meant a lot as my day got turned upside down. My mother got taken by ambulance today, and I needed to place an online order in place of my usual in store shopping. He went above and beyond to personally run out last minute added snack items to me for my children. Now we can bring in the New Year with some of their favorites. I always love shopping here, but tonight’s experience gave me a smile and some cheer that I desperately needed!

Storm lake experience Great service. As usual!! Did my business with the deli dept today. Had baked chicken with a macaroni salad and a desert salad. It was perfectly done. Good job Deli crew.

Hy-Vee in Storm Lake is always a great store! Helpful people, and like all other stores, really feeling the sting of empty shelves of toilet paper, paper towels, adult wipes(they say flushable, but I dont advise, just saying)! Cleaning wipes, cleaners. However, atleast there you can tell they dont think its some big back drop for a new game show. That its real life and people need tp!

Hy-Vee is a pretty average grocery store. Its light years better than Wal-Mart but not quite as nice as Fareway.

Its a grocery store. Usually well stocked. Excellent breakfast in the cafe area. Dont eat from there if its later in the day though. You can definitely tell its not fresh. Everyone is always friendly and helpful if you need it. Wish it was 24 hours.

We want to let people know what great help our Hy-Vee has. Recently my wife had surgery. We visited the Storm Lake store and visited with Linda in the meat department. She was very concerned about my wife and how well she was doing. As we continued on thru the store and to check out Linda walked over to us, after purchasing a bouquet of flowers and handed the to her and wished her a speedy recovery. Tired of Hyvee no longer offering to carryout groceries for elderly or handicapped patrons. They have no problem loading up the electric cart and letting me worry how to handle everything while using 2 crutches.

Always love going to this location! Always a busy location so grocery lines can back up pretty quick but the wonderful checkers get people through quickly and politely, all while making conversation. Never too hard to find someone to help if needed, and they are always happy to help!

This is one of the nicest, cleanest, great selection and quality meats Hy-Vee stores Ive been in. The employees are friendly and helpful. If they dont carry an item that you usually get, they will carry those items if they are able to get them.Bottom line is that this store is my go to store for grocery shopping.

Its a decent place to get your groceries.Customer service has been pretty good as far as Ive seen. Choice in groceries is good as well. Best thing is they still do price matching with fareway and vice versa.I think their drive up pharmacy making it easier for me to pick up medication for my mother if I dont need to get any groceries.They also have a mini restaurant (sort of) in there along with a flower shop and catering service.So I would recommend hyvee for those who need a good place to go if they like getting their groceries and medicine in the same place, to save time.

I go to HyVee quite often and everyone is winning to take me right to the item in the store if I cant find it. I try to go when I can get what I need when its on sale because some items are expensive. But overall a 4+.

They really meet all your needs. Groceries, of course. Then there is the deli, great meat department, and huge wine selection in the liquor section.

It seems that there are a few great employees who go out of their way to make sure you get what you need. But there are far more that seem to not know what the actual meaning of customer service is.

I like the vast selections of items in almost every department. The freezer isles have the best compared to my closer areas to home so I try to stop here when I have to go near any place close to Southern Hills Mall. If you have a gas card - I suggest checking local gas prices nearby on Google Maps because generally Caseys just across the interstate is cheaper. Sometimes 10 cents a gallon plus you can grab various other quick items while there. Watch your receipts as I always have 1 or 2 items I am over charged (i.e. buy 1 Chinese Meal get 1 Free). When my kids are distracting me, I cant always watch the prices being rung up and usually dont get the BOGO deal. The buffet used to have a decent price for all you can eat by choosing between salad bar, hot bar, Chinese or Pizza. Now its something like $16.99 for all or none. I eat like a bird, so for me its totally over priced. Even for my teenager he couldnt warrant paying $16.99 for that quality of food. The buy 1 meat with 2 sides is now $9.99 before tax! The food isnt that good for $10 in my opinion. I would buy a couple meals when it was $7.99 - so now the Deli lost my business. (Yes I am frugal). But the meat items are usually not the greatest. The meat is always dry because its been sitting out too long, I would pay the price if the food was fresher. What gets me is why do they advertise includes Corn Bread or Muffin at ALL the HyVee stores yet they argue with you by saying we never include that. Even through its on all the menu boards plus even printed in the flyer? I happen to have 2 boys who love bread. So really why not include a little Hawiainn type bun that only costs them 10 cents?!? Sorry its been a pet peeve of mine for years. Lol My age is shown here as I miss driving up to get your groceries and load into your car. Having lived in the south for 10 years I hate grocery shopping in the winter because if loading nearly 2 carts of groceries in subzero weather. I definitely would pay for that service.
