Just got in from an outstanding day on the water. This was our first time as a family out in canoes and I gotta say it was a blast! Breathtaking views of Vermont and the mountains, everything was so clean. Multiple times we beached the canoes and went for a swim in the river to cool off. John, our guide, was very helpful at teaching us the basics and made us feel very comfortable taking the kids out on the river. The water was so peaceful, like a lazy river float. Hope to do it again soon. Thank you John

We had a great experience on the beginner kayak trip. The 4 miles took us about 2.5 hours including breaks and felt very doable, we were glad we brought snacks. We saw a large heron. As beginners we felt really welcomed by the Umiak guide and also the staff at the store. We would definitely do this trip or another excursion again!

Friendly service and easy to find. We did 9 mile self guided paddle and really enjoyed it. Guide gave us all the information we needed and made sure we were set up. Paddle was beautiful!

This store carries anything water activity-related, and the store owner Joe was terrific! Hes excellent with kids and understood they would touch and gave the kids many stickers, not to mention they have a friendly dog. Thank you, Joe, for taking good care of us!

Rented 2 SUPs. Called in the morning when they opened. Setup a time to pick them up. Staff was friendly and helped load the SUPs. Also helped unload when we returned. SUPs were good quality and went great on the water. Would definetly recommend their rental services!

Took the snowshoeing and tubing tour with my wife recently and had a lot of fun. Our guide, Caroline, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. A great experience overall that wed recommend without hesitation.

Awesome day with Ryan today at Sterling Valley. Learned so much - Ryan was incredibly knowledgeable about technique and equipment. He was also an excellent guide as we had two levels of ski ability - kept us together and happy!

Went on my first backcountry ski excursion with my tour guide Andrew. It was extremely gratifying being in the woods and getting one of the best workouts of my life. The turns were great and Andrew was patient, informative, and a delight to be with for 6 hours. I highly recommend Umiak for their tours, equipment, and chasing staff.

This tour was incredible. My fiancé proposed to me. Umiak set up the whole thing. Our tour guide must have had secret acting experience because he kept it a secret the whole time.The folks at Umiak carried 50 roses to an abandoned sugar shack, brought warm cider and then cleaned it up after.There was a fire lit. It was magical. I’m looking forward to planning another tour with this group.

My girlfriend and I did the snowshoe tour at night and we loved it. We learned a lot about the Vermont wildlife and it was very scenic. Overall it was a great experience.

We went on a COVID-19 safe family snowshoeing adventure with Umiak and had a fantastic time. I was concerned the evening trek would be too much for my 8-year-old, but she had a blast. The guide made sure to pace the trip along with our needs. I highly recommend!

We had a wonderful tour with Umiak!! Not only was Chad professional, but he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much about Stowe, the surrounding area, and Vermont in general. We loved it so much we ended up going back to Umiak and buying snowshoes. The entire staff is friendly and they were very welcoming. Can’t wait for our next visit!

We recently (1/17/21) did a family snowshoeing and snow tubing tour with Chad at Umiak. What an amazing experience! We lucked out with a bunch of new, soft and fluffy snow falling down but had an incredibly fun experience and learned a ton from Chad, a park ranger who knew how to cater to our needs (2 kids) and experience level (none). We are property owners who have guests stay at our house regularly via Airbnb and will highly recommend travelers to check out what Umiak has to offer. What a great option!

Matt and Joe were polite and professional both on the phone and in person. Matt gave great recommendation on where to put kayaks in and was very helpful! Will absolutely rent from them again. Looking forward to when things get back to normal and we can reserve a tour with them.

My experience renting snow shoes from Umiak was great! The man was very nice by recommending several trails to try with my dog, gave me maps, and recommended trails. He adjusted the shoes to fit me boots, and gave me tips on how to use the poles. I will definitely rent from Umiak again. The rental fee was very reasonable. I decided to keep them an extra day which only took a phone call to extend my rental term. Cheaper the 2nd day too! I will definitely rent from Umiak again --maybe a kayak in the summer.

We recently rented tubes from Umiak. Upon walking in the shop, we were warmly greeted. The process was efficient and quick. At the end of the day we decided one day of tubing wasn’t quite enough, a quick phone call later and we were able to extend for an additional day! The return process was easy as well. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

We had another great experience with Umiak Outfitters. We did the snowshoe and fondue tour last year and went again this holiday season with more of the family. Our group had all ages, and the tour was well suited for all abilities. We loved learning along the trail and taking moments to appreciate nature.

This is a well run shop!! From the equipment to the awesome trails! We were not disappointed! The sleds were new (2018) and the guides were awesome! We had a large group which they easily accommodated. Plenty of helmets, suits and boots. They took the time to ensure we understood safety and operation of the machines. I would highly recommend them for a snowmobile tour!!

What a great time! Eli was great! Very personable tour guide friendly and funny and also made sure we understood everything we needed to know about the safety of using the snowmobiles. Gave us a great tour and then let us loose on the field. So much fun. They greeted us when we got there at the store we saw a safety video, got our helmets and if we needed boots or outerwear got that too and then boarded the bus and off to the woods to the tour. I would highly recommend this to everyone. All ages can do this. I even think this would be a great bachelorette party outing and Eli would be a great guide for that with his personality. He was so nice and funny.. and cute. He is even great with children he was great with my daughter helping her feel comfortable on the snowmobile. If I ever get a chance to do this again I would definitely do it at Umiak. Very professional and friendly!

We booked the moonlight snowshoe tour (not the fondue one). We had a great time and had no complaints. Our tour guide Matt was a really nice guy and cared about the guests. It was our first time snowshoeing and we had a great time enjoying the starry sky.

We booked the snowshoe and tube sledding tour. It was wonderful. It was our first time in snowshoes and they made it easy and fun. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the environment. As we snowshoed he pointed out signs of beavers and other animals. Our group consisted of 6 adults, a teen and a 9 year old. Everyone had fun! The hot cider and snacks were great when we took a break. The shop has a nice selection of gear to rent or buy.

Amazing staff, tours, and location.Our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids, 8 & 10) booked some incredible tours snowshoeing, tubing, dog sledding, and cross-country skiing through Umiak for our vacation in Stowe and they made it very easy and super fun. They were located just down the street from our hotel (Green Mountain Inn), so it was extremely convenient.They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, safe, and ensure we had all the perfectly fitting boots, skis, snowshoes, and anything else we needed.For anyone looking to spend time in Stowe and get away from the downhill slopes scene and try some other activities, Umiak is a great one-stop shop.

We went for snowmobile and snow shoeing on two different days. The activities were fun and the staff are very helpful in accommodating our needs with 6 years old. They even gave my kid new pair of shoes as his were not good enough for the snow shoeing. I would highly recommend UMIAK to anyone.

Joe at Umiak helped us with the purchase of a SUP and a Kayak. He and all the staff were very patient and helpful. They have a demo pond out back where you can try before you buy... a real plus! We went back two weeks later to get kayaks for our kids. Amazingly, Joe managed to get all four watercraft onto the roof of our subcompact Honda Fit. The charge for the roof rack installation was one six pack of good Vermont beer. Good stuff!We also took a SUP lesson with Max at the Waterbury Reservoir. He was great... very knowledgeable and ready to share information.

I have been kayaking for over 15 years, and have found Umiak to offer the best equipment at the best prices, particularly for roof racks and kayak accessories. They are totally upfront about what will work best for you even if they dont have the item. These folks are totally professional and know what they are doing.

Umiak saved my weekend! Planned on getting out of bounds on Sunday, but on Saturday my binding blew out when I snagged a snow snake in the trees. Mike P at Umiak set me up for success! Managed to get steep and deep and back out again because Umiak put together exactly what I needed!

We have been here a few times and every time we have always been greeted by friendly and helpful people. They also have a great selection.

The guides on our snowmobile tour were very polite. They would stop once in a while and ask my wife if she would like to operate the machine, which is a courteous thing to do when you are paired. Being the last tour of the night we didnt get the hot cider, though.

We did the self-guided tour on the Winooski River. The staff were friendly and the kayaks, adequate. We went out at the end of August and the water levels were low enough we got stuck on rocks a few times. For the money, I wouldnt do it again.

My wife and I rented snowshoes from Joe. He was very friendly, advised us on where we could hike based on our desired level of difficulty, drew notes on a map for us, etc. Couldnt have had a better experience!

TLDR: little scummyI had booked my sledding several weeks in advanced. The night before the outing, not 15 hours before the scheduled sledding I received the confirmation Email. I arrived an hour before the appointment and am told all sledding had been cancled for the day, when I asked why I hear verbatim-with so few riders it wouldnt have been worth our time.I appreciate that small businesses have to make decisions like this, I dont believe it is fair or common practice to not bother calling the clients who you cancel on, or sending a confirmation Email the night before.

We took the Lamoille River Kayak trip from Jeffersonville, VT to the Boyden Winery. Our guide was outstanding!They tell you its a 30 minute drive to Jeffersonville, Plan extra time if its a weekend due to traffic through the Noch.
