Mostly nice coffee shop. Nice art work on the walls (that you can purchase). A variety of coffee and sodas. Prices seemed reasonable for beverages. The service was ok; could have been friendlier. No vegan bakery options were available when we were there. Pretty loud due to the open area and hard floors. There’s a grand piano, so that’s very nice. Location and parking are convenient.
We found the shop to be very gorgeous in its old building thats been nicely renovated. They have great and kind service, along with a beautiful art gallery if you fancy looking around rather than sitting down to talk amongst your friends and family at perfectly-sized coffee tables. Speaking of the coffee, it might take a minute in order to get some, but it is definitely worth the wait, having it freshly made rather than fabricated like some fast-food restaurants.
High ceilings, cozy vibe. Super yummy breakfast croissants and really good coffees. Clean bathrooms! We hung out for several hours playing games and relaxing on a rainy day.
One of the newer coffee establishments in Superior with a lot of character and much to recommend about it. Personally I enjoy their London Fog. Great artwork gets highlighted here along with plenty for people to see and do. I hope they keep at it. Would definitely write a poem about many of the drinks Ive had here.
The woman working was fantastic and the atmosphere is stunning
Awesome coffee! Loved the espresso so much- my Americano didnt even need cream. Super chill atmosphere and lots of seating. An awesome place to chill!
Great place! Strong coffee, excellent space to get some work done with fast internet.
Wonderful special place for coffee or other special drink. Quiet, great service and beautiful photography on the walls.
It was a great place the nice lady at the front desk complimented my makeup everyone was super sweet and the food and drinks were done fast!!
Absolute favorite local coffee shop!! I come in here before work all the time, and the staff is always super friendly and makes great drinks! The owner, Aryana, is amazing and great to have a quick conversation with while waiting for your drink. The prices are great too! While it’s always expected that you’ll be paying a bit more for the quality of a local establishment rather than a chain, the prices are still kept very reasonable, which leaves me with extra money to tip. :) They also feature local artists and photographers on their walls, all available to buy. 100% recommend to anyone who loves coffee, tea, or just wants a nice place to meet with friends.
Nice atmosphere, lovely photos, friendly staff and good dirty chai
Went in there... My wifes vanilla latte was burned and disgusting, and after waiting over 20 minutes for my drink, they finally said Oops...someone must have taken it. You need to make sure that you grab your drink and did everything they could to blame their inability to get people their drinks on the customer. Will not be returning.
Awesome coffee, and love the cinnamon latte!
Very chill atmosphere. I love that I can come here with my study group for a reasonably priced coffee. Once I was told about this shop I quickly started visiting regularly.
Nice place to visit. Great service. Comfy atmosphere
As a frequent customer, I can tell you what I love and hate about this place.Love: Staff is super nice, its a local business, coffee is amazing, and it has a wonderful atmosphere (great place to study or chat with a friend)Hate: nothingI highly recommend going at least once to try it out!
Great drinks and fantastic selection from local artists! I got a sunflower scented candle and was able to enjoy beautiful canvas prints from a local photographer.
Loved the interior of this shop. So beautiful! But, what makes people feel welcome is kindness and warmth from staff. Improving customer service a bit would definitely bring me come back for more. Also an additional $1.25 is a bit steep for a dairy alternative. Otherwise, the espresso in my latte was lovely!
Excellent food and great service. Egg sandwich with veggies sausage was delicious.
Good food and coffee, some tea choices. Dont forget to play the piano!
Nice, reasonably priced coffee ☕ shop! Our group ordered a brevet, a dirty chai & an iced coffee. We were each very satisfied with our choices. Will definitely 👍 be back!👍👍
Great prices, great coffee, great seating! I love that, as a student, I can come in, get a table for all my stuff, have outlets readily available, and all while enjoying a delicious beverage.
Great aesthetic and friendly staff. Highly recommend the dirty chai.
Good coffee and good service
Great little shop. Good and friendly service. Loved the local artwork available for purchase
I love this place! The location, the art and local vendor exhibits, the coffee, the goodies... All get high marks in my book.
Their banana nut muffins are to die for. Very friendly and kind staff. Went here every morning i was in Superior for vacation
Absolutely wonderful coffee!
The best americano in town!
Cool atmosphere, good coffee, friendly staff.
Nice selection of tea flavors and beautiful photos of the area.
One of the best coffee shops I been too I’m impressed
Great coffee, service and atmosphere
Great coffee shop in the middle of downtown Superior. Great vibe and good coffee.
Super helpful, happy, friendly staff. Amazing coffee. Wishing I stocked up on the City Girl Guatemalan home coffee. To die for 🖤🤍
One of my favorite coffee shops in the Twin Ports! Ive never had a bad drink there and the artwork is phenomenal. I highly recommend!
Cute place, tried a vanilla Breve which is very good.
First time trying this coffee shop and wanted to support small business. Unfortunately they were very unprofessional. The coffee was over priced for the quality. The taste of the coffee was very burnt and bitter. Coming from a professional barista I can make coffee at home that tastes better. Won’t be going back. Not worth your time or money.
My favorite place to get coffee in the superior/Duluth area. Has a big city coffee shop feel when you step inside. Normally I’m used to paying $5 for a coffee at caribou, but always so happy when my total here is only about $3. Definitely would rather tip the staff with those $2 than pay for overpriced coffee. Only down side is limited parking but I understand It’s a busy street. Overall, the staff is great & coffee is worth it
Clean bathroom. Quick service. Good coffee. Ambiance is excellent!
The coffee is soon good 11/10
Very rude customer service never would go agin!
Great coffee, awesome staff.
Super easy ordering online, easily accessible from where I live and probably the best Americano Ive ever had. I will be back at least 3 times a week and wont ever return to Dunkin. As far as what everyone is saying about customer service, just order online and you dont have to deal with people. Everyone in our community is very on edge because of Covid and cant be expected to have a smile in their voice at all times. Also ordering online is very important right now. The less we all come into contact with each other to stop this virus the better.
By far the best coffee shop in superior. Stellar service and unbeatable prices and quality. This place takes espresso to the next level.
Great drinks and food. The food has really cute names. Spacious and relaxed for studying with a lot of seating options. The barista was very helpful and friendly
Love the owner. Friendly and very professional. Nice place for lunch, coffee or tea and to get work done for an afternoon.
Great service and products! Fantastic atmosphere. The only thing Id say would make it better for me is a bit more lighting available. Its a great place to get work done but if the weather is kind bad, it get a little dark and hard to see. Thats my own personal preference though. You guys are great!
Very cool atmosphere. Best coffee shop in Superior.
I really enjoy coming to Empire Coffee. They have a nice location and spacious place. There is a nice variety of beverage and food options that are great. Perfect spot to do some reading, catch some live music or study.
Great drinks! I had the black current iced tea. Warm, comfortable atmosphere with fantastic photographic art decor and its for sale.
Drove eight miles to check out this coffee shop and was greeted with a rude barista and an extremely burnt frappe with more ice chunks than a snow cone. Maybe the rest of their coffee is decent, but if you can taste it being burnt in a sugary frappe that hardly tastes like coffee, a hot cup would probably raise the hairs on my arms. I regret not driving eight miles in the other direction to Casa Latte in Hermantown.
Coffee great. Service is always good.
This is my go-to coffee spot in Superior now. Always great coffee, with a lot of different roasts and roasters. Its like spinning a wheel every time I go in there. Plus, its always brewed fresh. They have some delicious muffins and dessert-type stuff for breakfast, too. The people that work there are always really friendly, and the building is beautiful. Go here for coffee (sorry Red Mug).
Decided to try out a small shop. Wont go back. The girl at the counter was not the best face for the company. Spent 15 bucks on two very simple blended drinks. It was like eat ing a burnt slushie with ice chunks in it. I bet theres good employees but damn.
The ladies at the counter were friendly. Able to answer my questions. The dark mocha coffee was amazing. Big spacious room. Beautiful ceiling. Comfortable seats. Cheaper and better than Starbucks. Wish I had this place in Michigan.
Amazing coffee at great prices that even a broke college kid can afford! I ordered the vanilla iced latte and the breakfast sandwich. Both were so good! I had a lovely conversation with the owner of the shop as well. Keep it up Empire Coffee!
During my recent trip to the Duluth/Superior area, Empire, in historic downtown Superior, met all of my caffeine needs. The espresso shots are generous. Great spot! Nice people! Ill be back.
As a college student I love to do my homework in local coffee shops. The atmosphere is usually better than my house or school, theres good coffee and snacks immediately accessible and Im supporting local businesses. I decided to try this shop out for the first time. I walked in and set up my laptop to get into a productive place prior to getting something to drink. Less than five minutes after I walked in the barrestia interrupted me saying You kinda need to buy something or get out, unbelievably bad customer service. I considered just walking out but decided to stick it out and just order a coffee. The chai tea and customer service was considerably inferior to Duluth Coffee Company, the last shop I decided to try out. Ill be going elsewhere in the future, first impressions really are important.
Love this place. Staff is amazing and every single person remembers what I order every time!
Delicious coffee !!! Beautiful Lake Superior photography for sale as well.
Great coffee. I drink milk alternatives and they were able to get the coconut milk to foam nicely in my latte.
Super friendly. Super accommodating. They even have coconut milk so you arent stuck with soy instead of dairy. Delicious breakfast sammie. Accommodating to veg.
Comparable to British Imperialism 👌
Excellent local coffee and pastries plus the owners are welcoming and grounded (no pun intended ?!). Truly a unique place to gather your thoughts or with someone. If you are looking to support local business then support Empire Coffee - they carry local coffee, some of thee best local bakery items and now adult beverages. The atmosphere is warm and clean and their espresso machine isnt loud and piercing like many. Plus they play Frank Sinatra!
The best Americano in the twin ports. Strong and bold. Skip the cream and sugar, this cup stands alone
I enjoy a coffee shop willing to offer pour over service for a great cup of coffee. The seating here is spacious, they offer a variety of locally roasted coffees, and their Nutella-stuffed sugar cookies can’t be beat. In a world of corporate coffee, this is a local shop doing it right.
Really nice place to relax and have a good cup of coffee; which is also super affordable. Also tried their breakfast flatbread and tea which were both really good. Would highly recommend.
Best coffee in the Twin Ports, delicious sandwiches and salads. Staff knowledgeable and very accommodating. Great place for conversation, studying or relaxing.
Decent drinks, sort of dark interior, cool artwork and I like the armchairs.
It is a nice place with good people.
Coffee and sandwiches are great. Nice open space and sitting.
Italian sounds were lacking in flavor.
Cold brew coffee is very good, so is the apple walnut salad. First time in here and Ill be back when Im in the area again.
Honestly probably the best dark roast I have ever had was brewed here. Love the atmosphere for a good study session as well.
Great coffee! Tasty baked goods. All around excellent local coffee joint.
Really good coffee, and adorable. Loved the atmosphere and decorations too
Calming environment, super friendly service and the coffee is great too!
Absolutely fantastic 👏 .
Great coffee and tea! My favorite is the Chai Tea Latte.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover coffee of this caliber North of the Twin Cities. There is a great feel to the location I really appreciated.
Great coffee and great atmosphere!
Fast internet, great coffee, friendly staff
Ive visited The Empire numerous times since it has opened. While the coffee draws me in, this has become my favorite place for a gluten free sandwich.
Great tasting espresso, the nutella cookies were delicious, I think it would be lovely to see live musick there and more local art on the walls.
Excellent place
Nice coozy place, coffee is good. Totes would do homework here.
Staff is nice and welcoming, wide variety of food and coffee, lots of places to sit
Nice quiet little place, with fresh baked rolls and good coffee!
Went here for the first and last time. I heard many good things about the new coffee shop and was tremendously let down. Walked in with my friend and asked the lady at the counter what she would recommend for an iced coffee and she clearly didnt know enough about the menu. My friend had ordered her coffee after me and we waited at least 10 minutes while the other worker sat on her computer instead of helping her coworker behind the counter. Finally, when the coffee came out, it tasted worse than dirt in a cup. Above all the staff there seemed to have an attitude problem as they were staring, whispering, and pointing at us before approaching us to assess the problem that they had. Fed up, we threw our full, dirt tasting coffee in the trash and walked out in disgust.
Here for homegrown music festival. Good crowd great to see ages together.
Great coffe, fair price and the staff were excellent.
Ive been here three times and for the most part I really like it.First time I had and iced Americano which was very good. Im picky, and I like them strong, and they made it well.Second time I had a cup of coffee and a Nutella filled cookie, both great! Coffee was strong and flavorful.Third time me and my wife got coffees and I got a muffin. The coffees were luke warm for some reason, maybe sitting out too long? My chocolate muffin was not that great. Hardly any chocolate flavor and it tasted like the baking powder wasnt mixed in all the way. It had a very sharp, metallic taste. Maybe just a bad batch.Atomsphere wise I really like it. Its very open and spread out. Very quiet. Nice place to study or chill out. Though there is a weird fishy smell in the back. Not sure where thats coming from. All in all, my favorite place for coffee in superior.
Cappuccino was good and it was pleasantly quiet.
Been here a few times now and I have to say that the staff are courteous and nice! The coffee is always hot and ready! They have small pastries and from the local bakery and its very yummy! The Wifi is fast and easy to connect. AND the best part is they want you to come in and surf the net and use your devices...which means plenty of electrical outlets and usb ports to plug in and stay wired while you get caffeinated! If your in the area do yourself a flavor (see what I did there!) and stop in and get some wifi and best of all a VERY good cup of coffee!
Cool location. Burnt coffee.
