This place was well organized and the guy at the desk was cordial and professional. I walked in the door and i could smell wood. I knew i was in the right place. I walked around and looked at the different pieces and did not have some guy following me around telling me the daily special. The selection on hand was not overly large but what i saw was good quality wood. Their prices are competitive plus they are in a convenient location for me, as i do much work in the metro Atlanta area. It is nice to have a place i can go to when i need good quality wood for a special project. If you are a woodworker or a hobbyist, go see these guys. You wont be disappointed.

Rude, unhelpful staff that make buying difficult or impossible. Take your business to Peach State.Having bought many thousands of board feet here over the past 6-7 years, Im well aware of their lousy service and rude staff. Its been getting steadily worse and now, you cant even buy from them half the time. Over the years, Ive transferred most of my business to Peach State, only buying Walnut from these guys until recently because their prices were better for that species. Will be moving all of my business away from here for good.If you are just looking for a couple boards out of the retail area for an odd project, and dont mind if theyre cupped or twisted, you may do fine here. For more serious shops that go through a few thousand board feet a year and require rough lumber (because lets face it, the S4S bananas in the retail area are often unusable for a serious shop), these guys will do everything they can to not sell to you.Years ago, they didnt have a problem accommodating those needs. It gradually became a hassle. So they said place an order ahead of time and pick up. That worked for a while but now they cant even accommodate that option without making it a hassle. They say your order is ready for pickup. When you get there, they claim to be too busy, come back later, even if theres hardly anyone in there.Need cuts made? Maybe because 14-16 foot boards are too long to transport? Good luck. They say they offer one cut per board, but it mostly depends on how whichever rude employee working that day is feeling. Sometimes they just flat refuse for no apparent reason. So you tell them ahead of time a max length or it needs to be cut. Nope, no can do, too busy, even though they could easily do it during down time.Over the past few years, I dont think Ive ever left here having had a good buying experience. None of this is a problem at Peach State.

Good selection and prices. Staff is always friendly and helpful. As a hobbyist, it can be intimidating but the staff was patient and great at explaining the aspects of the different woods.

Not what it used to be... I have been spending money at Suwanee Lumber for over 15 years and after several recent rude experiences from the counter sales people, combined with nothing being in stock, Im spending my money elsewhere. Suwanee Lumber, before moving locations, had a really nice hometown family business feel. Not anymore. Try Peach State Lumber in Kennesaw... its a whole different (better) experience. Peach State Lumber actually tells you the prices when you shop (they provide price sheets and tape measures so youre not blindly shopping), they have a better selection, better inventory, and their customer service is second to none (they also store most hardwoods vertically so its much easier to view the good boards). Its worth the extra drive if youre considering it. The staff there is polite, competent, and very helpful.

Ive been driving the extra distance to buy from Suwanee for a few small projects I worked on. The last few times the people, both inside and in the yard seemed rude and couldnt care less if I was there or not. Today, on a Saturday, they had one guy working inside (rude) and another guy working in the yard (also rude) and you had to wait because there were quite a few customers. On top of this they overcharged me by nearly 2X. I didnt realize it until I got home and already cut the wood. I think its time to find somewhere else to buy my lumber, maybe someplace where they actually want my business.

Absolutely the best prices and service in town. I am new to cabinet making and have previously only bought lumber and sheet goods at the home improvement store. After buying at Sawnee lumber one time I can not believe that I have been paying 10-15% more all this time for a lesser product! Never again.

It can be intimidating at first for we amateurs, but the staff has been very helpful and explained everything pretty clearly. Plywood is leaps and bounds better than big box stores, and the prices are pretty comparable. Well worth a visit.

My go to for hardwoods. Inventory seemed a little low today.

Lumber and selection was great, but customer service was terrible. I stopped in on a Saturday to pick up some white oak for building a project. The lady at the counter was completely impersonal and could care less to help. The guys in the back were even worse. They offered no help in pulling wood out of the bins or loading the wood into your vehicle or trailer. Not to mention rushing you out of the bay to strap down your load, even when there was nobody waiting on you. Definitely sub par customer service for spending $180+ on two 8’ boards. I always try to shop locally owned businesses, but this experience made me long for the service at big box stores.

Had a great experience here searching for unique pieces for stained wall to wall shelves and a desktop. Excellent choices on dimensional lumber. Drove all the way to Kennesaw and Gainesville and ended up coming right back here. Best quality and prices I’ve found all around.

Good selection of wood with fair prices and good service. I bought 8/4 lumber that I wanted planed down. They did so at no extra cost. They sped the wood through when I told them I would prefer to not drive back later, as it is an hour drive for me. Will definitely come back.

Made the hour drive there for the first time last week, since they seem to be the only place in Atlanta that has 3/8 birch plywood. There was a mix up and they accidentally loaded me up with the wrong product and I didnt notice till the next day. Talked to Brian and he did everything needed to correct the mistake. I will definitely do business with them again.Good people, good prices, worth the drive from Athens.

This was my favorite hardwood dealer. I prefer using locally sourced wood straight from the mill, but when you do not have time to wait for the boards to dry or if you needs some great woods this was the place.Recently (11-22-19) the stopped pulling the rustic or specialty wood on the weekends, even when you call ahead. I tried to order 2 x 10 bd/ft of walnut rustic on a Friday and have it set to the side for Saturday. Two individuals spent more than 10 minutes telling me they could not do it on Saturday, they spent more time telling me why they could not do something vs. just doing it. The lumber yard would rather have me pay for wood over the phone with a credit card and set it outside the gate on a Monday, but could not do the same thing but leave it in the yard on Saturday. I work Monday - Friday 8-5 so I guess I can never buy lumber.

Great place to pick up a variety of high quality lumber - walnut, maple, cabinet quality plywood, and more. They also carry a wide selection of molding, but Ive only looked at them rather than used. The example moldings are stain quality and look very good.The people are nice and helpful and helped me get creative with loading when I overestimated the capacity of my vehicle! We got it all in.

Expansive selection of hardwoods and great customer service. Definitely worth checking out before hitting any of the big box stores. They say no precision cuts and even though they dont use a table saw they so within an 1/16 or so.

Don’t let the size fool you this is a family run small business. They have their hiccups but they will make right on them if you talk to them. There are a couple lumberyards on this side of the perimeter but this is the best. Their prices are fair, quality is spot on, and the service is acceptable for a lumberyard. The staff is not super knowledgeable yet but they are growing and it will come. Treat the workers well and leave the wood stacked the way you found it when you walk away and they will notice. I drive an extra 15 miles to shop with them because they are the best.

I applied to work here and they seemed so friendly and nice but they actually were fake. Gave me the run around for weeks. I was supposed to have a phone interview so I could come in and start working last Friday. I waited all day for the phone interview and never got the call. ALL DAY. I called today Monday because they reopen for the work week. They say oh yeah we should have called to let you know we decided not to hire anyone in that position right now.... SERIOUSLY!? How are they running a business right now? I was on hold for half an hour just trying to talk to someone each time I called and came by. Absolutely ridiculous! Please dont try to work here they obviously dont run a tight ship.

Did the company change hands when they moved from their old location? It seems like they did. The quality of plywood is really cheap and horrible. I bought cherry ply and the strips of veneer is so noticeable and poorly matched and thin that I cant possible provide this to my customer. Plus the chances of getting quality lumber is just about nil. It takes me all day to get there and Ive made the trip because theyve always been good quality. Just not anymore and I wont return anytime soon.

I travel a long way and pass many big box stores, but its worth the drive.. I had to laugh at one comment about someone going back to Home Depot, really?? Havent been there lately, but I will be going back soon.
