Corina Bakery is a fabulous bakery! The staff are positive and friendly; training seems decent for new employees too, so is is sustaining. The historical feel in the building and the idea of having a lot of art on the walls lends to nice feel, decor, and vibe. The bakery has lots of sweet items but also many types of savory sandwiches for lunch and breakfast both. There is not a bakery culture in the West Coast so believe we should treasure and support excellent places such as Corina 𧑠where you can walk to your local bakery and get fresh baked goods for the day. Corina Bakery has a wide selection of baked goods from pastries to cookies to cakes, as well as coffee and sandwiches. Their service is friendly and warm and there are plenty of seats both inside and outside the shop. When I visited Tacoma, I only had a croissant (frankly its rather mediocre, but I think croissants are not their strongest suit anyway) and a peanut butter cookie (crunchy and tasty, love it). Locals love it anyway, there was a line in the shop when the streets were mostly empty on a Sunday.
I am SO THRILLED with my wedding cake that we ordered from here. It was literally perfect! The cake was stunning, the cake was delicious! During the tasting, I thought the frosting was way too sweet and so I was a little nervous about the wedding cake, but it was so perfect I cant even describe it. The look was perfect, the flavors were perfect, it had a perfect delivery and set it. It was just the perfect addition to our day, and Im so excited that we get to live off the cake for the next few days!! Its so delicious, I truly couldnt be happier. Thank you so much for everything!
Ive visited this bakery 3 times this year and have enjoyed my experience each time. I live in Puyallup otherwise Id probably have visited more often by now. Its a cute bakery on the corner with a nice ambiance and friendly staff. I stumbled upon Corina one day after dropping my dog off at the nearby groomers (Wet Nose Dry Paws). Now every time I drop my dog off at the groomers I walk over to Corina, buy a cannoli and coffee, and hang out until the groomers call me!
Wonderful bakery with lots of gluten free and vegan options for people with dietary restrictions. Beautifully maintained space and quite welcoming. The staff were friendly and quick, and were all properly masked. In addition, the coffee and baked goods were excellent, fresh, and affordably priced. All in all, an excellent bakery!
Just up the street from my cousins place and wow! What a cute little spot!Coffees are solid. They are piping hot and donβt need creamer to mask that burnt diner taste lol.5 - jalapeΓ±o Turkey breakfast sandwich this was delicious- had just the right amount of kick to it for a savory breakfast4.5 - quiche Lorraine Iβm not much of a quiche person but I tried a bite and wow, egg wasnβt rubbery at all and very flavorful I think spinach mushrooms and bacon?3.5 - orange chocolate muffin thisβ¦ was just too much orange and chocolate it wasnβt bad but not my thingOverall? 4.5 didnβt eat here but they had cute chairs and tables set up outside and had plenty of space inside.
Fantastic, as always! Love that we can get amazing cakes and cupcakes gluten free so we can all enjoy birthdays. Tried the Aztec today - absolutely amazing! The perfect amount of spice in a dense chocolate masterpiece! We may have a new favorite. Thank you for making another memorable birthday for our family!
I tried the gluten free cinnamon roll macaron and a the gluten free peanut butter cookies. By far the best GF/vegan treats I have had. Will be returning soon.
The quality of the food was poor. I ordered a tofu sandwich with mushrooms and potatoes. It came in some kind of strange flavorless wrap and the filling had an over-spiced unappealing flavor. I was told that I did not need to wait at the counter, and they would call my name. 20 minutes later I went in to check and it had been sitting on the counter with other customers coming and going and getting their food. They said they called my name four times. After the first time, one would think that the calling of the name was not effective and perhaps it couldnt be heard in the adjacent room. So, the food was not well prepared and the service was very confusing. Cute place and nice music. What a let down.
Update: I have revised and added another star to my original review because of the customer service that the owner, Molly, provided. I actually never expected a response of compensation but I appreciated it. Doesnt change the fact that I was disappointed in my 60th birthday cake, but it certainly makes me want to give them another try. The items in their case looked so amazing and a bakery that has had a good run with as many good reviews as theyve received must be doing something right.I appreciate the customer service!
We ordered a cake for my sons birthday- great price for dairy free options that are actual options! I was happy with the cake, but the ordering process was a bit confusing. I wasnt allowed to choose any of the colors without a $40 fee. When I picked up the cake, I was really happy with what we got. We put it in the fridge when we got home and by the next day when we celebrated the birthday, the cake had kind of separated its layers visibly and was falling apart. The cake was absolutely delicious though, my son was super happy with all the options for flavors.
My workplace had ordered their pink champagne cake a while back, and i couldnt get over how good & moist it was (and i usually dont care much for cake)! I got their lavender-lemon-honey cake recently for a family bday party, and everyone really liked it. This time it was a bit sweet for me because of the thick frosting on top (but i just took a bit off which helped). Im sure next time I could ask for less frosting. :)
A true neighborhood gem. One of those places you stumble across and keep going back to. Clean, warm, charming place. Lots of delicious options for pastries, specialty sandwiches, pizza, and other baked goods including a large variety of gluten free options which allowed my wife to indulge as well. They even had a whole gluten free cake.
Their gluten free options are yummy. Can walk in and pick up already prepared items, but can also special order cakes and cupcakes gluten free &/or vegan too.
Im a former longtime customer. You used to be able to get a slice of cake baked to perfection. My last couple of purchases were dry and burned. Their customer service has also taken a nosedive. 2 stars are only because of what they were. Now theyre just looking for a buck. Customer service and really good food is what got you the bigger store. You may want to consider going back to that.
Great bakery! We custom ordered a cake and it was so dense and heavy - it was moist and delicious. Well definitely be back!
My daughters 16th birthday cake is so embarrassing that I wonβt serve it at the party. The topper that they made because I was told the baker to make figures was not in this week, was blurry and off centered as well as down right tacky. I choose this bakery because of itβs reviews of specialty cakes. I should have left before ordering because the lady taking the order did not give me the impression that she wanted my business.
I travel over half the year and visit about 100 independent bakeries and this is in the top five. Nice atmosphere, friendly service, the pastries and cakes are made with love! The cinnamon rolls have a wonderful orange zest accent to them and the monkey bread has aromatic spiced apples.
Delicious cakes and pastries. Great selection, even some gluten free. Parking is a challenge, and I was hoping to grab a nice load of bread, but none to be found. Consoled myself with a cannoli. π
Top notch bakery. Gluten free cake is good. Icing is delicious.
Couple problems with this place. One huge one that I know is a problem for most people. They run out of everything so fast, the only solution is to call them and order it so it can be there when you get there but THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE ANYMORE. So who wants to make a trip if they donβt know itβs available? Itβs not exactly an easy spot to get to. The parking is terrible. 2nd thing, not everything is consistently good. Itβs a hit or miss. 3rd thing, staff is rude rude rude, and judging by the multiple reviews stating the same thing nobody cares. I used to love this place, but now itβs not with it.
Food is always great - give it 5 stars. I appreciate their attention to detail and the variety of items for special diets. However, this experience was not good - 2 stars max. The website would not complete my order; so I called in a verbal order, which got scheduled for the wrong day. Fortunately the cakes were baked and could be decorated. Staff was apologetic and friendly. Just a little disappointing...
Easily some of the best muffins Ive ever had. We got an apple and a blueberry muffin. Both were moist and flavorful. The blueberry had an awesome sprinkle of lemon in it.The line was long when we got there, but it moved really fast.
My friend raved about lavender cake from this bakery. So, I went in for a slice and it was very good! Frosting a little on the sweet side but the cake crumb, texture, and flavor very superb! Coffee and staff good also.
Very friendly, order a cake for wifes birthday. Two days later picked it up on time, cake was as ordered, look beautiful, did not taste good, did not taste bad. Again Very nice people!
Love that they have vegan/dairy free options! Beautiful and delicious baked goods, good coffee, too.
I ordered a vegan banana/strawberry birthday cake here. I honestly would have never known it was vegan without being told. Delicious, great texture. The people are really nice.
I had them make a birthday cake for my wife it was scrumptious.
We ordered a vegan cake to celebrate a birthday from here and Im so glad we did. The cake was absolutely delicious; hands down one of the best cakes, vegan or otherwise, Ive had in awhile. It was moist and flavorful, the icing wasnt too sweet and they decorated it just right. When we came to pick it up everything on display looked so yummy we picked up a few other things too! The jalapeno turkey sausage breakfast biscuit was absolutely drool-worthy and so was the red velvet cake slice for the non-vegan. If I lived closer to this bakery, Id be in serious trouble. As it is, I will be making a return visit.
After talking with them today about the Gluten-Free options and how theyre handled in the kitchen. They said they do try to handle everything, however they do not have a separate oven for Gluten-Free baking. Everything is put into the same oven. If you can handle cross contamination and it doesnt bother you, then this is the place for you but for myself I cannot handle that so I just had coffee. I asked for it to be kid temp. It burnt my tongue, so wasnt super happy about that. After it cooled down it tasted good. Warning for those who get the burritos and want it to be warmed up. My husband got a burrito and had it warmed up. It was just so incredibly hot. I put napkins around it, hoping it could help but even after doing that it was just way too hot to hold. When we got to the car the burrito was stuck on what they wrapped the burrito in. My husband liked his burrito though, so thats good.
Accidentally hit enter before adding my thoughts. We got a ham and cheese brioche, quiche Lorraine, a cannoli, four macarons, and two different slices of cake. Oh, I also got an espresso brownie! Everything was delicious, as always, except only a minor thing. Three of the macarons were strawberry, and they were super crunchy. For some reason the filling in them tasted slightly off. But I did get them at the end of the day so maybe that had something to do with it? The only thing left over from yesterday is this yummy looking blueberry lemon cake slice, which is about to get devoured. The cannolis are out of this world!!
Corina is the perfect place for a sunny morning. (But also all other weather and times too)Enjoyed sitting on a quiet morning on the patio. It was very busy. The baristas are impressive! They are non-stop and constantly cranking out beautiful cups of coffee.I had espresso and a basil-herb cream cheese baked good. The espresso was tasty and served with some club soda which is always a nice touch. The baked good (canβt remember the name) was pretty delicious. Also had a cappuccino with hemp milk. They have really good alternative milk options. The best part was the chocolate filled croissant. I wonβt bother describing it because you should just try it yourself.
The breakfast sandwiches were very underwhelming. Tasted like starbucks sandwiches that someone overheated and burned
Here is the truth about Corinas. Always sold out. Always. Doesnt matter when I go, the only things left are old wrapped muffins and a few overcooked plain croissants. If you show up on the weekend, expect lines out the door. Their pastries taste alright but this is the only bakery around and the only espresso in the neighborhood so EVERYONE and their dog shows up. The staff dont greet or smile. Borderline rude. There are only about 4 items total worth buying and after our first visit a year ago, its been a waste of time ever since.Left empty-handed AGAIN today. Why do you make one pan of almond croissants when you KNOW youre going to sell out in the first 30 min of opening? So if you want just 1 plain croissant, and want to wait 20 min to get it then come on down. Me? This was the last chance I am giving. I will drive further to a bakery who understand about baking plentiful and welcoming their customers.
We honestly come up Corinas at least once a week to get cake. No one has better cake in the area, and the selection is a constantly rotating wonder. They also have a huge selection of gluten free cakes, if thats your jam. I go full gluten, but Ive tried the gluten free...and they are the best versions Ive ever had. Highly recommend this fantastic place!
Adulty atmosphere bakery cafe. lots of tables n seats, outside sitting tables too. vegan, vegetarian, glueten free menu selections r awesome.the location is great next to the cinema. the entire street full of pop corn smell. Banana chocolate cake is delicious. its heavy n really sweet but u would be satisfied.Parking: percially structured street parking. majority street parking.
Went there to purchase a cake. Delicious! Very cozy and quaint venue.
I travel from Seattle just for this Bakery however it has declined over the years.I am dairy free. There was a time they always had atleast one vegan cake and usually two. The last few times no vegan cakes. My options then were cupcakes, brownies, cookies and they all have chocolate. This is very limiting.I was there yesterday and ended up with 4 Azteca cupcakes because it was the only vegan cakey thing I could eat. They were so dry and crumbly after we each had one the other 2 ended up in the garbage as I didnt want to mask itby adding ice cream. My trips from Seattle are over for Corina. How sad considering how delicious they once were.
Had a few cakes and cupcakes done here for our wedding they were delicious an they delivered amazing employees and they even do gluten free and vegan cakes
During this pandemic Iβve wanted to support local businesses. This is one that Iβm eager to help out. They donβt let you into the store, but everything is laid out in an organized manner on their windows. They are warm and friendly. The other customers have been respectful about keeping their distance. When your order is ready they come out and place it on a table for you to grab. Itβs a pleasure and exemplifies how a well run business will innovate during these difficult times.
Both classic and gluten free options. Frittatas yummy. Pastry, cookies and cakes all well made and flavorful. Popular. Selection is much reduced by mid day. Highlights. Cinnamon rolls are incredible, not too sweet but full of cinnamon, browned pastry, and icing with orange zest. Gluten free scones are the best Ive had, if you can get one before they run out. Cherry, lemon, and other flavors keep it from being dry and add full flavor. Coffee and espresso drinks are well crafted. All milks available. Some syrups. They have a special blend of coffee made for them by local roaster valhallas. Huge supporters of local business.Outdoor tables as well as indoor. Great place to meet a friend.
Good choice of pastries and quick bites, coffee is also good!
Delicious food!!! Good food, good prices, good staff. You have no reason not to try it out.
I ordered a cake from Corinas Bakery for my sons first birthday. Ive wanted to try Corinas Bakery for a long time, because the other popular cake store in Tacoma is expensive and isnt tasting as great as it used to. The ordering process was straight forward, I showed them a sample picture of the design I wanted and picked a flavor for the cake. When I actually picked up the cake it was a masterpiece! It looked even better than the sample picture! It tasted sooo good too! It was a simple confetti vanilla cake with strawberry filling, but everybody ran up for second and third servings. If you need a cake for a special occasion, I can recommend this bakery. The only reason why I gave them 4 starts is because there was a mix up with my pick up date that ended up with me getting the cake 2 days early.
Best cake in Tacoma - even their gluten free/ vegan cakes are amazing!
Its all I can do to walk past the pastries to order my Coffee.Im not a strong person. I easily yield to the power of food but Corina has too many delicious delicacies before I ever get to the coffee! My mantra: Walk past the pastries. Get your drip. All will be well.Corina teaches me Forbearance in the face of food...Thank you, Corina.Thank you.And Thank You to both Johns who know I do yield to cream.
Always Delish, Im obsessed with the frittatas!
New to the Tacoma area and stopped in here this weekend. Super great COVID-19 procedures and friendly staff. Had a *chefs kiss* vegan peanut butter and chocolate cupcake that was heavenly. Will definitely be back for more sweets and their selection of breakfast pastries.
Soooo delicious, clean and friendly. I will definitely be back.
Pastries and coffee great! Too bad they let people in with their dogs!
Got 2 birthday cookies and they both tasted great.
Come on, what more can you say? Nothing like it.
Ordered my 1st cake from them and picked up this morning. It was for a co-worker having a baby boy. The only instruction I gave them was the saying on the cake and it was for a boy. What a beautiful cake!!! They did a fantastic job on the dΓ©cor on the cake and it was so moist and wonderful! I highly recommend them for any baking job you need. I also bought a cannoli and muffin. Both were outstanding! Well worth the price.
Truly the best bakery in Western Washington! Amazing cakes, pies, cookies, muffins and so much more! A great place to go any time of year.
We really enjoy this place.
The cookies were average, at best. The cupcakes were dry, taste was if they tried too hard at flavoring them. The bakery employees were unorganized and the cost was overpriced. We tried a dozen variety flavored cupcakes and the cookies. There were 10 of us, none of which were impressed.
Everything is fresh, delicious and allergy friendly. I love that itβs close to work and easy to swing by in the morning for a latte or one of their amazing breakfast sandwiches!
We enjoyed our red velvet / vanilla cake for our 40th wedding anniversary!π
Yummy savory and sweet baked goods. Valhalla Coffee β
Corinas made a GREAT gluten free vegan birthday cake for my sons celebration! We loved it; moist and delicious!
The only croissants you can get in town that might not be terrible. Itβs hard out here for a Francophile!
Amazing bakery. We threw a party and had 2 days until the party and they were still able to make amazing, one of the best cakes I have ever eaten. We love them so much that we drive 30 minutes on a good day, sometimes 40 just to get a slice of cake and many other treats
Molly and the crew at Corina Bakery are absolutely amazing! Their cakes are delicious and they can also make them vegan which is fabulous because they are delicious as well!A big thank you to you all!I picked up my cake today. It is incredible! Im so impressed with this bakery! Thank you!
Phenomenal bakery in downtown Tacoma. We have ordered cakes for birthdays and their flavors and combinations are fantastic. You can also order smaller slices and sample them all. .. HIGHLY reccomend trying alllll the slices!!
A lot of solid options. The savory dishes were amazing and there was a cake there that I couldnβt tell was real or fake.
The place was packed which os generally a good sign. i read online that they had gluten free options, which was the main reason why i stopped to try it out! We get there and no gluten free products, and the other items i wanted were out. I wasnt happy with what i ended up with. Wont go again
Fantastic food and service. The only place in tacoma that feels like an authentic French bakery
Free street parking available.I checked out the menu before driving out of the way to get here today. They didnt have what I wanted, so I referenced the menu and asked for something else. Nope thats not available either. The line was getting long. The blonde girl at counter wasnt helpful. I felt rushed, so I ordered a drink and said Ill circle back to not hold up the line. On my second round of ordering, with menu in hand again, I ordered something else. Finally the girl said what you see in the display item is whats available. In other words dont bother with the menu. So I scrapped the menu and had to hold up the line again only to settle for something else. Either call ahead or expect limited options that may or may not be on the menu.Wouldve appreciated a bit more guidance from the beginning instead of the blank stare during both interactions. Help me help you. Ya know. The only pastry I found that was both gf and df was good. The chai was good too. Even if my experience was amazing its probably not worth the extra miles but if youre already in the area then why not... Give it a try. The lady that made my drink seemed nice. Wish she took my order instead.
Lukewarm coffee. They did remake it but still the same. LukewarmβΉοΈ. Breakfast croissant was very disappointing too.Just wasted $12
Good gluten free options
Delicious eats and good coffee. Best bakery in Washington.
Im visiting from Chicago and knew I would only have time for one stop at Corina. I ordered a large box filled with treats for the group Im with. The employees were very helpful with the large order and our group was taken care of quickly. Everything we got was delicious! The orange muffin and fair scone were probably our favorites!
This bakery made our pink champagne cupcakes for our drive by engagement party in July. I am still getting compliments about the cakes and its November. The bakery staff are direct, professional and helpful. The cake speaks for itself: delicious, fun, modern. We will remember it forever.
Delicious baked goods, red velvet cake great assortment, friendly staff, great music and location!!
Spent $45 on a dozen cupcakes. They were decorated and look gorgeous but the cake is over baked and dry and the frosting is also dried out and crusty. Very disappointed, wonβt return.
Anyone has been to Corina bakery, it is definitely worth the extra few miles to drive if youve never been there unbelievable the food is always fresh and the people are courteous and kind in the atmosphere is nice I cant tell you enough about how you enjoyable it is being there
Good bakery great service. And. Great place to sit and get work done
Always a fantastic experience here. The staff are friendly and fast and the baked goods are Delicious.
