Everyone we have worked with at Tacoma Steel Supply is friendly, cooperative, and very helpful. We placed a rather complicated request in which the salesman Ryan was resourceful enough to calculate the exact weight and dimensions of what we needed. In addition, his price was much lower than any of the other steel companies in the greater Seattle area we had acquired. Tacoma Steel did not disappoint. Our material was manufactured precisely the way it was supposed to look and is working perfect for the products we manufacture. Picking up the material was quick and easy once I arrived in the will call area. If we do not outsource our production before we need new materials, we will likely place the exact same order, as this order is more than satisfactory. We would confidently recommend Tacoma Steel Supply to anyone.

No frills get what you need !!

These guys went above and beyond to help me with what I needed. I needed a very small short piece of 3in tubing. They walked me out to their shop and help me find the exact measurement inside diameter that I needed. I usually deal with Everett Steel. But these guys are now my go-to guys everybody in the shop was very helpful and respectful and patient. They also didnt make me by a full 20 foot pipe like everybody else would quotation Everett steel tacoma pipe and steel

Ive purchased custom laser and plasma cut steel as well as regular mill run material. Brenda has been fantastic in helping facilitate getting my parts cut to spec and on-time. I see a lot of reviews complaining about waiting to be loaded, and its true that you should not expect to be loaded with your material immediately. These guys cater to a commercial customer first and foremost. If you want immediate service when purchasing small orders you might want to look elsewhere. Id much rather get a great price on my material and expect a couple minute wait.

As a mother it can be very hard to find high quality steel. But these people went above and beyond my expectations.

This place is horrible!!Spent 650.00 for material and a half hour of my life watching the ‘good old boy’ system in action. If they know you, you don’t have to wait.“C’mon around that guy (me), he’ll be here for a while”Three flatbeds and two semi trucks later, I walked into the office and demanded a refund and left. Ironically no one in the office cared or was surprised.

I was shocked by the quality of their steel. Their steel is nothing short of breathtaking.

Zero help.Zero willingness.Called to let the boss know and they just laughed and said hes new.I wouldnt waste your time with these guys.

I had a steel box made for the company I work for and I sent a sketch over on how I wanted it made. At first I was dealing with Jeff Klein on the project but he wouldnt answer emails or return calls in a timely fashion, so I started dealing with Bob Woolery.To make a long story short, the box had the lid on the wrong side and when I called to get it fixed I got an attitude from them but they picked it up and fixed it. After a couple of weeks I got an second bill for over $900 to cut down the lid and change the hinges. The box cost over $2300 to have built and then they want try to charge me $900 for them to fix their mistake. The customer service is a complete embarrassment from them. If you are reading this buy your steel elsewhere and avoid the headache.

You will have to contact them a number of times before they give you a quote. They told me my steel was done and when I picked it up half of it was unable to locate. Had to wait a 3 more days after for the rest. Its a headache if you are trying to stick with a schedule. Very poor organization. Go to someone else if you dont want to look like an idiot to your customer, or take the lead time that they give you and double it. It has never gone close to smooth working with these guys.

Your website is pretty bad. I was looking for a quote on some square tubing, but that isnt possible on the website.

Well.... as the prices arent horrible the company as a whole can be improved upon staff knowledge was a little lacking and the product [gauge plate] was dented and bent. Parking was good easy to access.

Came here to pick up some supplies on will call. I went into the front office and signed the paperwork for my material and was told to drive into garage door number 2 and someone would help. Well, I waited....waited......and waited for over 15mins. There were plenty of people in the garage. I understand they have orders and material they have to take care of but what about my material? Not once did I get acknowledged by a worker in the back. All they had to say to me was “be with you in ten mins, or even twenty mins” but that didn’t even happen! They just looked at me and continued with what they were doing. I walked back to the front office to ask if someone would be loading my vehicle and they replied “no one has helped you yet?” I said no and asked if someone would be getting my material? One of the front office people had to come and get my material and help me load it! Worst experience ever!

Quick turn around on parts fair price

Incompetent staff. The people in the office didnt even know what 3/4x3/4x1/8 angle iron was. When they found what I wanted in a scrap bin would only sell the entire length at WAY over market value. Ill NOT be back!

I needed about 64 square feet of 1/4 inch plate steel cut to specific sizes. I got a quote from a similar place in Kent that I thought was quite high. I went into the office of Tacoma Steel and was given a quote a little less than half the price the place in Kent had quoted.They told me the order would be ready in a week; they actually called me a couple of days before I expected.One piece had been mis-cut, we looked over the original order, there had been a miscommunication, it was as much my fault as the guy who took the order. They supplied a replacement piece in a day at no charge and let me keep the mis-cut piece.Im a small time purchaser, but Ive never been made to feel like my business wasnt wanted.Hint; dont call for a quote by phone or request a quote by email, do it the old-school way and go to their office in person.P.S. I was very please with the accuracy and quality of the cutting too.

WOW!! my experience with this company was absolutely horrible! The office people could not pull their heads out of their butts long enough to help me. Then when they did, it was like they were brain dead stupid. I explained to them what I needed to the point I had to write it down and then they still didnt get it. Finely when I was able to get them to figure out what I needed it took a week to get it. When I went to pick the small order up, it took going through 5 people for them to find it. WOW!!! If I would have just went to Interwest Metals in Fife, I would have gotten it in the same day. If I could give this incompetant idiots a negative 10 I would. Tacoma Steel Supply absolutely sucks with customer service.Ive usually got my metal requests filled by Interwest Metals, but Tacoma Steel was closer to me. Well I will take the extra time and miles to go to a company that knows what they are doing. Interwest has my business from here on. Tacoma Steel could not give me the materials to walk back in their front door. no wounder they only have a 2.5 review, It should be a 1!

Updated:I should have updated this a long time ago. But, i had forgotten.Ryan was actually pretty good and worked with me, as there was some confusion on my side and it only made for a confusing purchase. My project could not have turned out any better without the help of Tacoma Steel. They should be the first place you call for your steel needs as they have the best prices in town.Update:. After writing an email back to RP and letting them know how I thought of the lack of customer service. I received an odd email back from them, that RP(Ryan) was new and that my quote was transferred to someone else to handle it. But the email was from Ryan himself. Anyways, I received the quote that afternoon and it actually was a great quote. Ryan was very helpful when I arrived. Now lets see how many delays, if any.The two photos are of my Gravity Feed smoker. This was the very first time I ever touched a welder and I basically learned while doing it. Its still going strong and will probably outlast me, lol.Update 11.2.17Still waiting for the steel to be finished. I was told last week that it would be finished, before the end of the week, as it was getting programmed for the laser. This week I was told, due to a few laser cutter employee being absent, it wont be ready until early next week. Well see.If your projects have no deadline, the Tacoma Steel is the place to go and get steel.11.10.17Rented a Uhaul truck to pick up the steel. I drove into the wharehouse and patiently waited for them to locate my cut prices. They found the saw cut pieces fairly easy. The laser cut stuff, well good luck getting that found even after they say its ready to be picked up. Took some time to find one pallet of 16gauge cut sheet and they could not find my quater inch material and could not seem to locate whom even supposedly cut it. All he would say was they did run the program so it must have been cut. So now I have to wait for them to recut it and hopefully I will be able to transport the parts in my Civic.

Customer service is seriously lacking! I waited to get information on product and timed my project on them only to find out that they were going to tack on 5 days wait for product. When someone orders something, it would be nice to know the lead time until this product would be received, RIGHT AWAY. Absurd. I will not be buying from here anymore.
