Mark is very knowlegable and helpful. If you want an authentic refurbished turntable or speaker, or want great vinyl.... Hes the man
This is a great record shop with an eclectic collection. They have great turnover and a knowledgeable guy behind the counter. Prices run high, but the relative rarity of most of the albums helps explain that. Worth a visit if youre in the area.
I cannot recommend the owner of this shop more highly. He went out of his way to copy some old cassettes of family music for me. It wouldve been easier to say no but he said yes even though it involved extra work. He was also very friendly and easy to work with. He represents the very best of small business owners. Thank you!!
Caveat emptor!!Unpleasantly surprised and disappointed upon a visit to the local record store. They often carry used music and audio gear on consignment.I took interest in a pair of tower speakers, the guy said he had just picked them up couple days ago, and goes on about how he looked them up online and they were by a European manufacturer and seem slightly obscure (insinuating value.)They still had stickers from the CAV - local non-profit thrift store @ $10ea!!Hell probably try to get close to $100ea!...Let the buyer beware indeed!
Super knowledgeable. Great selection. Love this place!
When I go to most local physical music stores around NM, usually the selection of music they have is pretty one-note. Often times they are only carrying recent Pop releases or repressed classic 70s & 80s albums. Though Heads Up Music had some of these items, the stock and diversity of music ranged from video game soundtracks to folk & rock music to electronica, which all are available on a wide variety of formats which was great to see next to the interesting selection of vintage audio equipment & vinyl art. Even the dividers in the vinyl record bins are all beautifully painted. Staff running the store was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the music. Able to help me find some deep house records that Im really looking forward to DJing with. If youre looking for an authentic music store with a wide variety of merchandise while youre rolling through Taos, this is it.
Cool shop, very friendly. Great selection of vkectibke vinyl! As to music gear and supplies, They can order anything, and are likely to have a a few interesting used gems....
Lovely store all around, super friendly owner
Really cool + knowledgable owner. Only place in town with vintage audio gear. Great place to find music, speakers, etc
Small store; good selection of music and friendly folks. Ill be back.
Vinyl options for new and used. Great selection and variety. Used CDs, cassettes and equipment. Mark the owner is very kind and helpful and we have special ordered items not available in the store which arrived quickly.
Great record store in taos. Surprised at the diverse selections for a small store. They had col. Bruces Hampton grease band music to eat?!?! Columbia records 2nd worse selling album - so you know it good
Im not from the area or even the state, I found Heads Up in. Google search while skiing. Nice little store, has something for everyone. They desperately need another vinly rack. Too packed too really want to got through the collection. Prices are on average with small shops. Cheaper prices can definitely be found on the internet, but theres not a lot of fun in that hunt. If prices would have been about 5-10% less Id have walked out with more. From what I saw vinyl was priced on the high side from Discogs and higher. Still it is worth a visit.
As an avid record collector, HeadsUpMusic has been a blessing to me since their doors opened 3 years ago. Living in a rural area and having access to physical, Brick and Mortar record shop to dig at has enriched my small town experience, of which I am grateful. There is an ever changing selection of new and quality used vinyl records at reasonable market prices. This shop is also registered for Record Store Day, giving costumers the opportunity to browse exclusive RSD titles without the crowds. HeadsUpMusic also carries CDs, Tapes, used audio equipment and other music related items. Be sure support your local, independent record store.
What a great place to find music that no one has.
This place is awesome! very good customer service and a great selection of records.
Superior selection of Vinyl, CDs, DVDs, Books, and Cassettes. Friendly and extremely knowledgeable owner who is a true music connoisseur. Definitely worth checking out.
I loved this little shop! It’s a perfect little music store in Taos that has a great selection of everything from vinyl LPs, CDs and tapes, to rare collectors DVDs. They even have an assortment of music gear, like turntables, guitars, guitar accessories like strings, amps, and probably much more! This is the place to get your local music gear for sure! If I lived here in Taos I’d go there all the time! Mark was able to order the records that I wanted and they came quickly and in great condition! Thanks, you’re the best!!
