I have to share my story to show how good and nice Marco at AAMCO Thousand Oaks was to me.I have a 2015 Ford Escape. I’ve always taken it to Ford dealer for service. About a month ago my Ford service advisor told me I need to do transmission fluid service and since I trust them I did it. It was first transmission service.After that my transmission would over heat when I turned on the AC. I took it back to Ford ( they gave me an appointment more than a week later ) They charged me $190 to look at it and then told me I need a new transmission and I need to leave a deposit to order it, it’ll take about two months. I took my Ford to AAMCO in Newbury Park for second opinion. Marco told me he’ll check it at no charge and it will be ready in 3 hours.Marco called in and said my car is ready and my transmission is okay. The over heating was because there was too much oil in the transmission. He said he brought the oil level to where it should be and the car is not overheating anymore. He mentioned that the oil was very clouded.I’m suspecting that technicians at Ford forgot to flush the fluid and just added oil.I was surprised that Marco didn’t charge me anything for fixing my transmission. That would’ve cost me so much. I really appreciate his work and honesty. I’m never going back to Ford for my services. I just found someone whom I can trust to do all my car services.Thank you Marco

My parents didn’t know a single word of English and Marco took good care of them. He is bilingual, extremely helpful and informative, we had taken our Toyota to a couple of other shops before just to have the transmission fail a few miles after. Took it to Aamco and Marco explained what had failed and why it was causing the transmissions to fail. Haven’t had a problem with the transmission since and now we continue to take our car for any other repairs.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS (unless youre rich and willing to pay a ton of money for your car repairs). There is a reason why AAMCO and other chain transmission shops have a bad reputation. The manager Marco will try charging you 3x the cost of other places just for diagnosing your car (yes the diagnosis charge will go towards your insanely pricey repair) but they wont even fix anything at a reasonable price or try to work with you to save you some money. If people did these repairs themselves or found outside help then theyd save a lot of money. The repair prices are insanely high here and unreasonable.

Avoid this place at all costs. They overcharge and wont fix anything properly or at a reasonable cost. I barely have money to afford my other bills and they tried to charge me hundreds of dollars for nothing. Marco has a nasty attitude too, hopefully they get a better manager working there soon but I doubt it.

Gene was the coolest, he got my car fixed up fast. It was nice to be around there at the shop, because the people working there are courteous and warm. They explained to me all the things being done, and that made me feel confident. My car runs much better. I would always recommend this place to anyone I meet.

The guys over at AAMCO Thousand Oaks are total pros. I’m an engineer and a gearhead, so I went in thinking I knew what my car needed. They were able to set me straight and explain exactly what was wrong, why it went wrong, and how it should be fixed. I was so impressed with their service and transmission work that I took my car back to them for cooling system repairs. I wouldn’t hesitate to rely on them for any type of repair or maintenance. Tell Marco (the manager) and Gene (the owner) that I sent ya.

After going to the dealership with my Honda CR-V they told me I needed a transmission. I decided to get a second opinion and went to AAMCO and turns out I didn’t need a whole transmission, Marco was able to fix it for under $400. Marco was very nice and honest and saved me a lot of money.

Called and spoke with Marco who was very accommodating and worked with/accepted Good Sam. Brought my coach in on Wednesday morning expecting to leave it for a few days as it could not be looked at until the afternoon. Leo looked at the problem immediately, diagnosed the problem, and resolved it all within about 45 minutes at NO charge to me and I drove home. AAMCO just got a new customer. A new O ring for a compression connection and a top off for my hydraulic fluid again at no charge. Thank you Leo and Marco for your customer service.

Went on vacation with my family from Arizona and got stuck in Thousand Oaks with truck trouble. I was so lucky because the closest place to where I broke down was AAMCO here in Thousand Oaks. I was a nervous wreck to get my family safe and back on the road expeditiously and economical as possible. I had the pleasure of speaking with Eugene and he assured me he would do the best he could to get me back on the road ASAP. Not only was I thrilled I didnt have to get a hotel room because Eugene took care of business, but my bill was a lot less than I expected and after getting home back in AZ and doing research, it was more than competitive pricing! Dont trust these guys. Called on Friday to get a quote for Power Purge Plus which should be a 100% flush with new filter and gasket. Get a price of about $250 from Marco. Took the car in for service on Saturday morning and the job was completed in about 2 hours. After I left, I looked at the invoice carefully and see the service of SAFEGUARD was performed. When I went back to Marco, he said Power Purge Plus was not a recommended service on my Lexus. Well, he should have made that clear when he quoted me and the quote should have been cheaper if it was not a Power Purge Plus. A normal SAFEGUARD is just dropping the transmission pan, replace fluid, filter and gasket; no different than changing oil. Should not be a $250 job at all considering not much transmission fluid was used since much of the fluid is in the torque converter. Deceptive Marco. Get all quotes in writing and read it carefully and match to your request.On top of the deception, the job was done poorly. Drove the car to Simi Valley and heard a scrapping noise from bottom of car. Went to check and found plastic aero shielding on the bottom of car was flopping around and scrapped on the pavement. AAMCO did not put back the shielding properly and missed 2 screws. See photo. I had to duct tape the plastic and drive back to AAMCO on Tuesday to get them to do it right. Poor quality, deceptive quotes thus very poor rating. Dont trust this business.

This place is a joke! We got out transmission rebuilt here and 2 weeks later the problem continues. The warranty is a joke!! Had it fixed again and it its taking way to long. It was a priority to them before but now that they are paid in full its not longer a priority! They are liars and crooks!!! Dont waste your money here!!!

My 2006 Honda Odyssey transmission went out on my way to Santa Barbra last week. The tow truck driver suggested I talk to Gene at Aamco telling me I could trust him. Gene was very comforting and took good care of me and my car. Just today I had my regular mechanic look at my car and he said this Aamco did a better than normal job because he usually has to fix things.Being a single girl I am always worried I will get charged too much but my mechanic told me he thought I paid much less than the dealership. Feel even better now.

They should have an option for NO stars. Thats what I would have chosen.Back in 2010 I took my work van to Gene and Co for a new transmission. I was under the impression I was getting a new one, based on conversations. Turns out it was rebuilt. It was in the fine print, so that one is on me for trusting them. After several very costly other repairs, a friend, who is a mechanic and who is now employed by a law enforcement agency, told me to run from this place and never go back. He inspected my van and determined that they were playing on my fears, probably due to the fact that I am a woman and was going there alone. My friend even told them to their faces that they should be ashamed of themselves.Fast forward to last Thursday (Sept 2014) and my transmission is slipping. I need another rebuild. Let me state....LESS THAN 30,000 MILES!! My warranty was a joke and I have no recourse. My current mechanic agrees that I was ripped off big time by Aamco of Thousand Oaks.My advice is to find someone else....anybody else.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS AAMCO LOCATION.CAR WAS RUNNING HOT, I TOOK IT UP TO MARCO, HE MISDIAGNOSED MY CAR, CHARGED ME $400 TO REPLACE A TANK, WHICH I DIDNT NEED TO REPLACE ALL ALONG. IT TOOK ME A MONTH AND A HALF TO SAVE THE MONEY, I HAVE 4 CHILDREN SO THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY, IM ALL BY MYSELF SO I COULDNT ASK ANYONE ELSE FOR HELP, AND ALSO LEARNED THE BUS SCHEDULE IN THE MEANTIME.THE DAY I GO PICKUP MY CAR, ALL OF A SUDDEN ITS IDLING HEAVY, MARCO ASSURED ME IT WAS FINE. SO I GO HOME GET READY FOR WORK THEN I HEAD TO WORK, BUT THE CAR DOESNT WANT TO START, MIND YOU THAT NEVER WAS A PROBLEM BEFORE I TOOM THE CAR TO MARCO, SO I FINALLY GOT THE CAR ON I GO ABOUT 3 MILES AND THE CAR STARTS RUNNING HOT, AGAIN! Hi,I took my 2005 Jeep Liberty there after being quote over $5,000 at Jeep dealer for transmission over hall.I had it repaired here and saved over $1,000 and they gave me the 3 year nationwide warrantee.Very satisfied with quick turn around time, price and service, ask for Marco!

Affordable & fast !! This is our second time to the AAMCO in Thousand Oaks. 6 months ago, Our Chevy Tahoe, had a Transmission problem, & the transmission needed a rebuild, & so we chose AAMCO, for the price... Our 2nd vehicle a Acura TL also suffered a transmission problem, so we took it to the AAMCO. Same scenario less than the dealership... Done.. Were happy, thats all

I called for a price for a tranmission flush the price was 179.00 all they did was a drain and refill and reworked the invoice to show that i checeked two other aamco shopes a drain and refill is 89 dollars when i cofronted gene he said that is what he charges every one i was ripedoff for 90 dollars DO NOT DO BUNNIES WITH THIS SHOP

After having multiple conversations with Lisa I started looking for a new transmission place. She was extremely rude and little to no care for what I was talking about. Its her way or the highway here. I wont ever return.
