These folks run an excellent business in a very tough time. They are always honest and fair with their services and sales. I will take all my equipment needs here and would encourage anyone to do so. Thanks guys!!
Brought them my craftsman riding mower and they got back to me with an estimate, 60 some odd dollars! I couldn’t believe it. Was so surprised at this deal, I made them repeat this price at least three times. Mind you I’m no mechanic and didn’t know what was wrong, I said great! Do it. A few weeks later they call me..... yeah your mower is done, 600 and some odd dollars!!!!!!! Long story short I no longer have a mower. Absolutely ridiculous, I do not recommend.
The guys at Roy boys are great and very willing to work with you. I bought an ms-180 Stihl took it home and used it a couple hours and it was impressive. I asked if I could upgrade to the Wood boss ms 251 and they did no problem. The Wood Boss is very impressive on stumps and large branches. I couldnt be happier with Roy Boys sales and service!
I called them up and explained my mower wasn’t starting, they stayed on the phone with me going over visual diagnostics and some possible simple solutions. Just had to unplug a sensor that was acting up, mower worked fine thanks to calling them. This is after multiple YouTube videos, new spark plugs, oil and filter. Was about to clean out the carburetor but these guys fixed me up without even having to take it in. Truly some great people dedicated to excellent customer service working here.
Been a customer for years.. Knowledgeable people and have never been dissatisfied.
Decent pricing and great service. Mechanics are pretty funny and they do great work as well. 2 for 1
This place was trying to charge me for things that were not broken. I am a professional and they still tried to pull a fast one on me. After bringing in 4 chainsaws, I was down to my last climbing saw. Brought it in early in the morning, only one other customer. I asked to help me out i was In a pinch could you have one of the guys help me.. they refused to help. Even the owner wouldnt do anything. I was forced to buy another saw for 700. They absolutely are not about customers, just the bottom dollar. Later I found out they were over charging me for things that were not even broken I will never again by another saw or anything from that place or bring my tools and there to get repaired
Great place to buy tools for your company they have nice discounts my husband and I been going to the shop for years now
Fast friendly service! They ALWAYS have what I need!I drive 38 miles to do do business with them.Prices are better than fair. The best Snapper dealership Ive found.
I see a lot of mixed reviews here. I needed a part for a very old Stihl 018C chain saw. I looked up the part-number online and gave my friends a call at Roy Boys. I spoke with Todd, who was extremely courteous and helpful. He found the part and quoted me a competitive price. Put my name on it for a Will-Call. Nothing wrong here - the right part, right price, and a very nice Employee. Thanks Roy Boys and Todd.
Old school place to buy the things you need for your lawn mowers. They also have a wide variety of new and used lawn and garden machinery. The folks there are polite and very respectful.
This shop has been wonderful from day 1 - I have been shopping and bringing in my machines here for over 20 years. Everyone that works there is smart and knowledgeable, they have gone above and beyond to help me out countless times.Anytime I need anything I go to them first - worth supporting. I love to spend time next to their wood stove in the winter. Check them out.
Took my lawnmower in last spring because it was in storage for several years. They took it and later charged me what I thought was reasonable, to rebuild the carburetor and a few other small things. A couple of months later (after running fine) it was having problems remaining running, especially when cold, so I dropped in to see what my options were. The guy behind the counter wouldnt stop eating his burrito long enough to tell me it was probably a carburetor problem. (Really?) Long story short, they offer zero warranty on their work. And as bad luck would have it, I just tried starting it for the first time this season and it will only stay running if I sit next to it and keep pressing the primer bulb in and out, in and out, in and out. This was after using a gasoline additive they recommended all last year. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. EDIT - cleaned out the carburetor myself (no mechanical skills) and its been running perfectly since, two seasons no problems.
This would have been written two years ago (2014) but I only found their mistake this past November. In short: I took them my leaf blower to be repaired in Oct 2014. The counter guy, who barely could muster any energy (besides wipe his mouth while he ate a sandwich in front of me) took the blower & gave it a repair order. A day or two later, Mr. Sandwich calls me and tells me its shot. Something to do with the intake. Cant fix it, would cost too much. Oh, & I paid $25 for this expertise. This is a $189 loss for me. I buy a new one online the same day. The broken one sat on my garage shelf for two years....until I changed the spark plug and air filter in Nov 2016 (a friend told me to try) PRESTO! With the same old gas, it fired up! Thanks Roy-Boy, for your complete incompetence. To everyone else, avoid this place like all get-out. P.S-- I still have the service tag from them on the blower they couldnt fix. Tony in Sherwood, Oregon
Very helpful. I took a Scotts reel mower in for repair. They had the replacement parts, disassembled and cleaned the mower, and also sharpened the blades. The mower performs better than when I first bought it!
An absolute waist of money! If you need repairs? Expect for them to have your equipment for a minimum of 2-3 weeks and you probably wont spend anything less than $150. They will sell you every part under the sun that isnt necessary. Do your research prior to taking your equipment in for repairs.
They keep a wide inventory which is always nice whenever I go there they usually have what I need. The good thing about this place is even if they do not have any in stock they’ll find a way to get it for me.
I have purchase 5 attachments for my new Stihl motor. As well as: blades, chains, oil, they are always prompt, and correct even when I am wrong. My son got the original motor and 5 attachments from 8 years ago. Everything has worked great. I have been going to motor shops for 50 years. These guys are terrific. I cant imagine Roy or Brig being a part of an organization worthy of the previous complaints. I think they protest to much. Tom Barrett
Have lived near them for a dozen years. I take all my small engine yard gear to them for work, from big tillers to mowers to weed wackers and leaf blowers. Always happy with their knowledge, friendliness and prices. Sometimes you just need an oddball air filter. Theyll have it.
Took my lawnmower in for a repair. The pony-tailed gentleman who helped me was kind of snarky in the way he responded to my description of what I thought was wrong with it. So what do you want us to do? he asked. Make it work, I said. A full tune up then? No, I answered, laughing, a repair. Well repairs are three weeks out. And oh by the way, dont you want an estimate first? Yes, most definitely, please call me with an estimate. He wrote up the work order and kind of tossed it at me across the counter and turned and walked off without a good bye. With no word from them for three days, I called to ask how long they needed to keep my lawnmower to provide an estimate. The gentleman who answered said, Three weeks. No, I was told its three weeks to complete the repair, Im just waiting for an estimate on what a repair would cost. Yes, thats three weeks out. There are ways to make people want to work with you despite a backlog... those ways include politeness and helpfulness and instilling a little faith that you know what youre doing. Didnt get any of that from Roy-Boys. Im going to pick up my lawnmower and find someone else.
Stihl dealer good guys
BEWARE!!!I took a newer Scott Mower into these guys that retails for about $450 ish.. They told me two weeks to tune up. Then my wife called 3 weeks later and was frustrated wondering when our mower was going to be finished. I was contacted by one of their employees and they said that our mowers shaft was bent and it was beyond repair. knowing a good amount about motors, I knew this was not true since all that the mower needed was a carb kit, I just didnt have time to do it myself. After the employee told me this they said it would be 20.00 for the inspection on the mower or if we wanted they would wave the 20.00 fee if we wanted to just give them the mower. I paid the 20.00 and took the mower to another shop. They replaced the carburetor since the kit was almost the same price. The mower runs great now.... NO BENT SHAFT..... FYI these guys are full of $#!T!
Been buying chainsaws from Todd and Roy for over a decade. Great people but they charge alot for repairs
About a year ago, I took my mower to Roy-Boys to be serviced. They gave me an estimate that sounded higher than I wanted to pay at the time for a service that wasnt urgent. I returned this past week -- prepared to bite the bullet, as the need for service was more urgent. The service person was friendly and helpful and quoted me less than I remembered. Great! I returned to pick it up today, and the guy with the pony tail was friendly enough -- business-like, at least -- until he saw the service order, and said sternly, You were quoted less than its supposed to cost, and stared at me sternly. I gave him a shrug and looked at him, like, so... what do you want me to do about it? but didnt say anything... waiting for him to respond. Then he gave me a mean look -- like it was my fault -- and said, I guess well charge you the price the dumb-ass who helped you gave you. The grumpy guy actually referred to the customer-friendly guy as a dumb-ass. Nice. So, I took a look at the other reviews here, and it strikes me -- at least my impression -- that when I look at the Google+ profiles of the people that left negative reviews (and search for them on LinkedIn and other social media sites) -- that those people seem to be real -- live here in town, have other people in their circles in town. When I look at the profiles of the glowingly positive reviews -- they seem like fabricated profiles -- cant find them on other social media circles, and about their only blip in history is one or two (paid?) positive reviews, or those that have other people in their circles are in Seattle or India... not around here. Im not saying they are fake profiles created just for the purpose of posting positive reviews, but thats the impression I get. Maybe they are real folks who had great service -- maybe they only dealt with the friendly staff person who helped me the first time? So, take it or leave it, but thats my experience with Roy-Boys. I feel bad, in a way, for leaving a one-star review, because I like to support the local mom-n-pop businesses. Next time I need my mower serviced, however, Ill be looking for another local business to support... hopefully with a more positive customer service attitude.
Nice guys, clean shop area. Knowledgeable staff.
Very helpful place if you mechanically inclined, food for thought though, try to come in with the part number, it speeds up the process for them to find what your looking for, and I know there prices can be on the expensive side, but it makes since once they explain it to you
I purchased a chainsaw from this establishment as well as several chains but no longer will be using them for future purchases following my most recent experience.I ordered a ripping chain but discovered it was not a Stihl chain, the explanation given was lame and the chain proved to be of poor quality. The total lack of interest in what my needs were revealed a great deal about the manner in which they conduct business.Im done with them!
Horrible! I went here to get oil. plugs. and a blade for my mower. They gave me the wrong amount of oil said i didnt need an oil filter (which I did!) and i had to wait 3 weeks for the blade that they should have had in stock. I will order online next time as everything was was overpriced and since I have to wait I might as well get a good deal. Never going back to Roy Boys!
Poor buisness practice. Took my mower in for a oil change, 5 days later get a call it was done and ready for pick up. I was assuming 50-60 for the oil change. They. Tried to slap me with a 170. Bill i was like what did you guys do? Well we changed out the carburetor and starter and pull cord was close to being needed to be replaced. I was so pist. Asked how come I didnt receive a call before they just went ahead with repairing everything. The manager bamed Todd said we dont call our customers we assume it wouldnt be a problem. I was like what the heck, I couldnt get the mower out so i had to leave to go get more money, there was another customer loading up his mower, I asked him how long he be going there he said about 5 years i told him what had happened he said wow this aint like this place I always get a call before they start to proceed just to authorize the charges with me. Well then i was like what the heck. I went back in there and said i jist talked to one of your other customers he said he you guys always call him. Then i asked how come i didnt get a call? He said that customer was lying to me... Wow... You know what just keep the mower... Ill go buy a new one....
4 weeks and 130 bucks to do a tune up on my lawn mover. Yes that included some extras but had I know they were going to do the extras I would have said no. The same lawn mover new is only 400. I had to call multiple times to get a timeline.
Horrible. They dont call you and give a a price on what they need to do to fix it or to ok it and charge up the ASS and expect you to pay for something they didnt even ask was ok to do first
Im going to give this place 2 stars because they have what I want and provide a service that is hard to find, but... So far the few times I have been in, the customer service has sucked! Mostly from Barry....... he had a lot of information and expertise that I was interested in, but he was so rude and condescending the only thing I took away from my time at Roy Boys was, avoid Barry he is a tool.
I really like their business ethics. I will always return here for service.
Excellent service. Super nice people. Earned a customer for life.
Poor customer service and very unprofessiona. If you want to talk to any one over the phone ? Good luck!If you leave message, no one returns your call.
Reasonable service and prices
Outstanding service. Ive used them for 34 years.
Nice staff to work with. Felt like they actually cared about me as a customer as they went out of their way to get me a part that they didn’t already have in house.
Quality work my chainsaw. Hasn’t worked this good since it was first purchased.
Terrible Service. I dont know much about tools so I brought pictures of the tool and the replacement part I needed. Guy behind the counter (First three letters were BAR on his name tag, couldnt see the whole thing, sadly) openly mocked my lack of tool knowledge that I didnt know what the part was called when I showed him the pictures.Avoid RoyBoys if you arent an expert, or if you just like to be treated with courtesy.
This place ROCKS!
Professional, friendly and informative.
Great guys.
