I am very pleased with the quality, service, and professionalism of Bencraft Mechanical. They went above and beyond with their workmanship and quality. I own a two story house and all of my ductwork had deteriorated and started showing water spots on my ceiling from the condensation buildup in the subfloor and poor quality of sealing when originally put in. Bencraft Mechanical replaced all my ductwork, mixing box, and boots in the subfloor to correct my problem. They spent a lot of time sealing all the boots with tape and mastic and were very maticulous at sealing the new mixing box from the inside. Brett from Bencraft was very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. He took time out of his work to explain how to put the ducts on the collars correctly and how to seal things up so this problem does not happen again.I had another estimate from a local competitor and they were much higher with their estimate and were not going to even replace the mixing box or boots. When Brett showed me the inside of that mixing bix I was shocked that the competitor was just going to reuse the original. Also Brett went an extra mile and special ordered boots with a 90 degree angle so there is less stress in the new ducts and fits much better in the subfloor.I would highly recommend using Bencraft Mechanical for any of your AC and heating needs as well as duct work. They are honest people and take their time to do the job right. Ac “tech” comes to my house and gives a clean bill of health to my ac system. They make me think I’m crazy telling me my ac is 100% and nothing is wrong with it. Well this is what I find. The techs reason my house gets to 83 degrees or hotter is because I have metal ac ducts. And I should pay him $5000 to change my ducts because this will fix the problem. What a scam. I don’t have gullible written on my forehead and I called him out on it. So bencraft mechanical services closed the ticket and told my home warranty that nothing was mechanicals wrong with my ac. A quick google search shows why the coils are frozen and the ac is cold and not blowing or cooling the house. The pics are my blower motor. I hope this post is shared a lot so other homeowners know not everyone is honest out there in their work. Bencraft mechanical services has a perfect 5 out of 5 stars so I thought I could trust them. Now here I am in my home with my wife and kids in the heat.

Bencraft Mechanical Services, Inc.PART 1 OF 5 OF MY AIR CONDITIONER SAGAMy air conditioner had stopped putting out cold air. I have an American Home Shield Warranty plan, so I called them and put in a service request. They set up Bencraft as the contractor to come out. I waited for the call and waited and waited. No call so I had to call them. The person working the phones must be related to the owners of Bencraft. Why do I say this? Because she was rude, impolite and offensive and the only way she would be allowed to work there is because she was related. Said that she would look into the situation and call me back. If you guessed that she did not call me back you would win that bet. I had to call her back. She had the same attitude but you can add snotty to the list. She said that I should call American Home Shield warranty and tell them that I didn’t want them to service me. I asked her why? They didn’t want to fulfill their obligation with American Home Shield because my outside unit was on the roof (a flat roof) and it was way to dangerous for their employees to get up there. It was barely 20 feet up. Please keep in mind that everyone’s outside unit is on the roof. It is not dangerous and I have climbed it myself. I told her that if Bencraft refused to service my air conditioner then they needed to contact American Home Shield Warranty and let them know that. It was over a week before they did this and I had to keep calling. You see if they don’t call it in, then I can’t get a service provider to come out. We live in Florida, it is hot and you need an air conditioner. Bencraft could care less. Said they didn’t have a ladder to get up on the roof. If you do not want to perform the services you contracted with American Home Shield Warranty about then you should remove yourself from their list of air conditioner service companies. Just seems to me as if you are trying to cover shoddy customer service with platitudes that barely addressed my review. Still would not recommend your company and quite frankly mostly because of your customer service – or rather, the lack thereof. Might have served you best should you have started out your response with an apology first and then gone off on your tangent about new vehicles. Would have at least seemed as if you cared about customer reviews and not justifying your actions.

Daniel provided great customer service. He was able to determine the issue with my unit and able to fix the unit within the same day all before noon. Bencraft is great to me and I recommend them if you have an issue with your unit. The technician do wear a mask, if anyone is concerned.

**Update 3/30/2021**Brett as promised was able to install the new compressor once it arrived in the office from American Home Shield. Grateful to have AC working again. It’s a shame that AHS doesn’t do anything to expedite an issue when it obviously is taking longer than normal to get fixed. 1 month without AC in Florida is unacceptable. I understand it is not Bencrafts fault ... they are at the mercy of AHS. I will not be renewing my service contract with AHS once it is up.**Update 3/26/2021**I was contacted by Brett, the owner, which was reassuring. He explained their relationship with AHS home warranty and this comes down to a problem with the home warranty. He offered to bring over a portable AC (which we already have 3) and stated that if he had a compatible compressor he would come over and install it to use until the new one comes but because AHS sends their own parts, he has to wait until the part comes from AHS. He did the right thing by reaching out and reassured us that he would get the new compressor installed as soon as it arrives. Still stinks that we have no AC until that happens. I guess that is what you get when you sign up for a home warranty. Will think twice about renewing with AHS.Initial post 3/26/2021:It’s unfortunate that this company has no urgency in fixing our air conditioner. Our air conditioner stopped working on 2/27/2021. We have American Home Shield as a home warranty. They chose Bencraft Mechanical Services as the air conditioning service provider. It took approximately 2-3 weeks to initially get the air conditioner working. They replaced the compressor, charged me $400 for refrigerant ($40 per lb after my AHS discount). The compressor they installed lasted about half a day. Evidently the system was leaking Refrigerant. They came back out and we were told it was a bad compressor. This caused it to be a warranty issue. I am told that a new compressor is on the way but they do not have any tracking number and there was no way to expedite the shipment. We have now been without air conditioning in our house in Florida for one month. When I called to ask if there were any options or any way to expedite this process I was told that there’s nothing they can do except call us when the new compressor arrives. The last time it took over one week for the compressor to get shipped to them. So we are looking at at least one more week without AC. It is Florida. Temperatures are in the 80s. They do not seem to care about their customers. I’ve never dealt with an air conditioning company that can’t come up with some type of solution to temporarily improve the situation or expedite the process. Hopefully this is not how they treat all of their customers, only the customers associated with a home warranty program. I can’t imagine they treat all of their customers this way because there’s no way they would have five star rating. I still have faith in people and hope the people working for this company turn it around one day.

Bencraft Mechanical Services has serviced our AC on a few occasions and there always seems to be another issue that occurs just a couple months later. The office staff at this company is horrendous! I have never, ever been spoken to with such disrespect and disdain. The office staff was not communicative about the status of our repair or processing the necessary information to move the repair forward. COVID is not an excuse for not being responsive or providing poor customer service. If I could select 0 stars, I would. UPDATE:Brett, the owner contacted me the next day and tried to work with me. He apologized for not contacting me promptly before and now trying to work with Trane System representative. He agreed that our system had 2 major break down and it was unacceptable but we would have to work with Trane. I personally dont think Trane will honor anything to help me but I appreciate Brett gave me a call. I paid premium to get Trane which is supposedly the best but ended up getting more repair costs than an old AC. I would work with Brett again but if you are looking for a new replacement, dont go with Trane because if you get a bad unit, youre on your own.-------------------You might get SCAMMED! We decided to replace our old AC with Trane system with Bencraft after doing a lot of research and got bunch of quotes in October 2017. I thought by doing that we would save a lot of money fixing. Little did I know, the old AC system we never had to pay anything to fix but the new ones already broke down 3 times over the course of 3 years. Each time, it cost us about $1000 to fix even WITH WARRANTY. The part and the labor cost are so high that makes it ridiculous. We paid about $5k for the unit but almost $3k in repaid!!! The first time it broke down was in June 2019 for refrigerant and compressor replaced. The second time is ONLY 6 months later for new coil and refrigerant and evaporator. Now, Im waiting for the AC guy to come fix it AGAIN the 3rd time in October 2020. How is this acceptable??? You would think with waranty itll be cheap to fix and with a brand new unit, itll be problem free. I multiple times brought this up and see if there is anything they can do for their probably SCAM unit, they kept saying theyd contact me but never did. Today, they again told me they would call me back but nope no phone call. Now 3rd time the charm, Im upset beyond words. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY and Trane system if you are getting a new unit.

On 22 July 2021 Daniel checked the whole system and assured me that all the components are working according to the specifications.Brett, the Owner of the business, visited our house and took his time to review with us the new A/C system capacity requirements based on our house area and construction. He seemed honest and knowledgeable and gained our trust. His estimate was very competitive. Brett and Mike, his assistant, removed the old unit, installed the new system and had it running within six hours last Saturday. Our new A/C unit has been performing well since then. Office staff response has been excellent. I would definitely recommend Bencraft Mechanical Services for maintenance or a new system installation.

They also DO NOT promote service plans as they believe in making sure they save you money and not spend money you do not need to.CUSTOMER SERVICE - from the owner to the service guy MIKE and DANIEL as well as PATTY in their office was always accomodating, nice, professional and took their time, allowed enough time for us to ask questions and always made sure we had their number to call in case we thought of other questions. The owner called me the day before the install to inform me that an accessory was back ordered and was very apologetic about it. Something they have no control over and he is still apologetic? WOW thats service. They clean up very well and install look very good.Over all, This may not be a well known company to many but it should be. In this time of cynicism, lies and hatred, it is refreshing to see a company with integrity, professionalism and the willingness to help out a customer to the best of their abilities. This is a company you should definitely try. IT does NOT matter if you are tied with another company you are not happy with due to their service plan. Cancel it and give this honest people a try. You wont be disappointed.
