I have been coming to Hampton Automotive Services for at least 7 years now, and I will never look back. I call them and always am able to get my car in the shop within a day. The biggest difference between Gary and the other mechanics is the honesty factor. Going to a mechanic can be daunting, and full of issues your car might have. Gary is straightforward and honest, always having your best interest in mind. I have not experienced this with any of the mechanics I have used prior. Where to begin with listing all the wonderful services I received at Hampton Automotive in the past three years since I came here for the first time? Let’s start with timely appointments. Whatever is need, I get an appointment quickly, mostly the next day. I bought new tires there and Gary gave them to me “at cost”. I only paid for the installation. I bring it in for an oil change and they check everything to make sure I leave with a car that’s safe to drive. My car is almost 20 years old and things wear out. They always catch what’s about to break before it does, thus making sure, everything is in working order and will transport me safely on Baltimore’s rocky streets. Windshield wiper fluid is refilled, tire pressure checked, and making my old almost “blind” headlights look shiny and new again are just some of the standards and I don’t have to request this, it happens automatically. Others have mentioned it in their reviews and it’s true, Gary walks me through all the things that are needed and shows me on my car what absolutely needs work. Always honest! Great prices! The three mechanics who work there are knowledgeable, thorough and fast. Even when something unexpected needs work, I can always wait upstairs in the lobby, the parts come quickly and I can take my car home on the same day within a couple of hours. I was sent to Hampton Automotive by a friend. Best decision I ever made to come here. Bring your car here and you’ll never want for another repair shop.

I started working with Gary and his team back in 2012. I bought a car that was questionable and made funny noises here and there as I would drive it. I was unsure of the car and took it to different mechanics in the area to ask about safety issues with it. Some mechanics said it had extensive repairs needed, then I took it to Gary. He test drove the car and said it was fine. I then moved from the Towson area in 2016, so I stopped going to Hampton Automotive. Their good service, honesty and integrity kept me going to them for 5 years. If I move back to the Baltimore/Towson area, I would gladly work with Gary and his team again. Great establishment.

Great experience. Gary explained the problem in detail and suggested repairs vs. the toyota dealership suggestions, car runs great and very pleased with service and repairs. He also suggested another garage for one of the repairs and I had a great experience at that garage as well. Gary also called me 1-2 weeks later to follow-up and see how we made out. Who does that anymore? Nobody, you get a survey in your junk email that you delete. Thanks

Very friendly and attentive auto shop. They’re very thorough and obviously care about the quality of work they produce. Gary and his team are honest people who are set on making sure you’re satisfied when you leave. They don’t try to upsell products or pull one over on you, they simply want your car to leave the shop in in a better condition then when it arrived.

Absolutely perfect experience. Came from a Ford dealer/garage. They wanted to charge almost $1.5K and also swap parts that werent broken. The guys at Hampton Automotive repaired the parts that needed to be repaired for less than half of that. Quality work - honest guys. Theres a reason those guys survive without advertising in a hidden location!

My boss recommended Hampton Automotive to me about 2 years ago. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Gary and his crew treats you like family. Very honest, I am really impressed with Gary. The other shop at York road said more than 1100 dollars to fix my car. Gary said my car is totally fine. He said he used a scanner once before a test-drive, and once again after the drive to make sure it does not have any problem at all. He deserve 5 star.

Gary is fantastic! He was informative, honest, kind, and made sure I understood what was happening every step of the way. Because he knew Im a student from out of state (with next to no automotive knowledge) he offered to drive my car to the Ford dealership himself to have them replace my catalytic converter for the most fair price. Ill be back at Hampton Automotive the next time my car is feeling under the weather and absolutely recommend Gary and his team!

Absolutely the best experience!! Honest, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Ive worked on cars my whole life, know my way around a car, and have dealt with my fair share of disreputable repair shops. So when my daughter had car problems 100 miles from home on her way to college, I cringed at the thought of having emergency service while out of town... I fully expected to be taken advantage of with no recourse. Gary at Hampton Automotive could not have been nicer and, even though they were very busy, got my daughter safely back on the road the same day. On top of that, they were extremely fair with the price and, under the circumstances, easlily could have charged much more for the repair. Honest, knowledgeable, and trustworthy auto repair shops are really hard to find... If you live in the area and you dont take your car to Hampton, you absolutely should, because Hampton is truly the best! From a father of a daughter far from home, thank you!

The.owner answered the phone and was friendly and knowledgeable. Took my car in and he called me and told me exactly what was wrong and what the price would be. Completed the work quickly without any surprises. Didnt gouge me on the part charge. It was they same as if Id bought it at Salvos. Fair price on labor. And right in the heart of Towson. Will definitely use them whenever I need a mechanic. Highly recommend this shop. Owner has a great business ethic.

Gary Barnes is hands down the most honest, kind and helpful mechanic I have had the pleasure of giving my business to. He builds his entire business off of the foundation of honesty and integrity. Im very happy to have been directed to his shop. As a struggling college kid it isnt easy to afford the high cost of maintenance but Mr.Barnes has very fair prices.

Hampton automotive service was great. Im a college student who isnt close to home and I was able to drop my car off and have it back the next day. Gary was quick and was a really nice guy. Price was fair when he could have easily charged more. Figured out the problem and fixed it in a day. My guy for auto service while at school from now on.

This is the car repair shop Ive been searching for since I moved to Baltimore 4 years ago. The mechanics here are genuine, honest, kind, and willing to try to work around your schedule in case of emergency. The cost for my repairs was cheaper than what was quoted to me from AAA. They definitely have my recommendation.

I drove my car off the curb when I get of parking lot. I didnt see there is no driveway. Hampton Automotive Services gave me a free check, they told me my car is okay. The guys there are really nice. They have over 30 years experiences, I trust them. It is hard to find them, you have to turn around, drive to E floor, behind Hampton Apartment, you cant miss it.

Extremely quick service! I dropped my car off in the morning to get my tire rods replaced and my car was ready that same afternoon. Gary told me exactly what he did so I knew what I was paying for.

I was headed over to Hampton Automotive tomorrow to get some work done on my car and wanted to give them a call to see if they had room for me before the holidays. Didnt have their # handy so I googled them to get it. With a moment or so of free time I thought I would look at their Google reviews- something I wouldnt ordinarily do since Gary and his guys have been taking care of my cars for many years.If you are looking for the definition of fairness and quality, look these words up in the dictionary and youll see their picture by each word! I have always been treated like family. I was shocked to find this guys one star rating of this well respected establishment.It just goes to show you how some idiot with an undiagnosed problem can do harm to a good business leaving one to believe that the internet can, too often,be irrationally damaging to a business by a person hiding behind a keyboard. Thank God, all of Hamptons regular customers know better.

Very bad, really bad customer service. Said he cannot give me a price for brakes because he didnt know what car I had. As soon as I told him that I have the parts he said So you have to put yourself because I am not interested. I wonder why he is not interested, may be he overcharge in parts? Mr. Fayes claims of being dissatisfied are totally unjustified. What good businessman would give an estimate over the phone on a car that he has never seen ......and then the customer tells the shop owner he will supply his own parts! NEVER!! Shop owners carry product liability insurance on parts they install including labor.....If a customer supplied part would fail, especially brakes, and the result would be an accident......It would be a sticky situation for the shopowner as he would be UNINSURED! One that NO BUSINESS OWNER today would want to be in..... This (-) feedback is totally un-warranted !

Hampton Automotive is an honest mechanic. They do very good work.

A different mechanic said I needed shocks when there was no evidence apart from tire wear. Gary at Hampton determined my tire cupping was unrelated to shocks or any suspension issue, and advised I replace and align my rear tires, then rotate per manufacturers schedule and monitor tire wear; saved me 450 dollars. Charges a premium over discount online tire sellers, but selling what customers need is a legitimate way to earn a living. Giving incompetent advice is not.
