These guys have always been incredibly honest and affordable. Their customer service is great and their staff is highly qualified. Name another place in town that gives you a loaner vehicle to drive every time you come in. Highly recommend Redmond Automotive.
Disappointment. I was looking forward to finding a local place in town to take my 2015 Chevy Silverado when the occasional need presented itself. The team at Redmonds missed on the diagnostics of a thermostat issue considerably. I tried very hard to be patient with this business and give them the opportunity to solve the problem but in the end this only resulted in me spending much more money and heartache than was needed for this issue. Two parts that were not needed and a $1,000 bill later and my family and I were stuck out of town with a truck that would no longer run to get us home due to overheating issues. I could not even get the truck back to Traverse City to take it back to Redmonds to have them fix the original problem I had went there to have fixed a few weeks prior. This shop was dismissive to my explanations of the problem from the very beginning and I have now paid significantly because of it. I did not need the AC Condenser that they installed but when I approached them on that they became combative. As a young family that will have plenty of cars driving around this town well into the future, I will always be vocal about the poor experiences I have had at this place to all who ask.
I was charged for a diagnosis, even though I told them the issue I wanted looked at. They didnt look at the issue or fix it while my vehicle sat there for 2 weeks. When I picked up my vehicle it was in the same exact location I left it. So they didnt even take it in the shop yet charged me. Bad customer service.
They did get my car fixed... Eventually. But between it taking more than 3 times as long as I was initially told, (causing me to have to spend as much on a rental car as the repair itself) and the nonexistent communication of issues when they arose means I am unlikely to do business with them again.
Noticed an issue while towing my 6,000 pound travel trailer from down state that needed immediate attention. Called around and luckily Redmonds was able to take a look for me(Local Ford dealer told me they could help me in August, thanks for nothing Grand Traverse Ford). Arrived, was given a free loaner vehicle and told they would contact me. Redmonds found two issues and the quoted price for repair(in my opinion) was fair. I am grateful they were able to make time for me as the brake issues found were serious. The parts they used for the repairs were high quality, I was given part numbers on the receipt for warranty purposes. I generally work on my own stuff so I appreciate the attention to detail and using good parts. John also took the time to explain to me the issues they found in detail so I could address it with the dealership back at home where I purchased the truck.I have a hard time believing the negative reviews on here regarding this establishment. I never got the impression that this shop is anything other than an old school garage that takes pride in doing their work properly. My experience was positive and I believe they did a thorough and honest job. Id come back if necessary without a doubt.

I had to have my 2005 Ford Escape towed from Rapid City, then from Keystone Rd to Redmond Automotive on 14th St in Traverse City, MI. Although was a lot more than I expected, I am a recent widow, these gentlemen were very kind and respectful to me. They immediately found the issues and fixed them, and when I came in to pick up my vehicle, they even had it completely cleaned off for me. I would highly recommend this business and will give them all my future business as well as referring them to whoever needs a place that knows their work, and still are friendly, nice and kind. The woman at the front desk had terrible customer service. Bad customer service all around. They said they would have my truck in in 3 business days. I got no call for over a week. Very short and frustrating to communicate with. Like I was bothering them.

Ive never had an issue here- always fair and honest with my car. I love that you can borrow a car, which makes it less of a hassle to schedule during the weekday when one works.
All through they did fix things in my Jeep I brought my Jeep to then to fix a particular squeak on my front passenger wheel. After 3 times back the noise was still there leaving the final time. My dad and I ended up fixing the squeaking noise in about an hour because I couldn’t afford to not have a car anymore.
Our go to place for Auto work and simple oil changes. Always finest and dependable. Highly recommend.

I made an appointment for Monday morning for a safety check and intermittent issue. As of 2 pm that day Redmond had not looked at my vehicle. They did not get to my vehicle at all on the day of my appointment. The next day, Tuesday, around noon I get a call for clarification on intermittent issue presenting. An hour later, I was in the area driving by with my ride. (I had to secure other rides for 2 days being without a vehicle) and saw my car just sitting outside Redmonds NOT being worked on. I called and they were not trying to diagnose the issue and not working on my car. At this point, on day two, if my vehicle is not going to be looked at I told them I would be picking it back up. Walked in, Mr. Redmond, the Manager, was behind the counter, he said that there was no charge. So as I am leaving, I know there should at least be a charge for the safety check I requested. I inquired on this as he was leaving the building and he responded they had not done the safety check! Two days with an appointment and not even the primary reason for my vehicle being there was performed!!!!Overall, I found that Redmonds does not adhere to appointment schedules, prioritized well, or problem solve to provide what a car owner needs in a reliable, organized, and adaptive mechanic. I called Johns Auto in Kingsley. I dont know why I didnt go there first. I find them to be reliable, honest, and able to provide excellent automotive services. Lesson learned. If you are looking for a reliable, upfront mechanic I do not recommend Redmond Automotive. Yes you get an apology (although that does not help for anyone that needs their vehicle to get to work). I wasted two days sans a vehicle ( I commute) prior to a long road rip with my vehicle being an ornament in Redmonds parking lot and not even the safety check performed on the day of my appointment. There are better mechanics in the area that know how to adhere to appointments. Try Johns Auto in Kingsley...
Parking can be difficult here but the people at the front desk were friendly. They also offer rides home if you need it apparently, I didnt need one. At least for brakes they dont take appointments so its a drop it off in the morning at wait until theyre finished deal. All in all they were nice enough and got the job done.

Having just moved from Maryland, we had no idea where to take our car when it wouldnt start and we needed snow tires, so we went to the place closest to our home. The folks at Redmond Automotive were extremely responsive and helpful, ordered and put on the snow tires, and diagnosed and fixed the not starting problem within 24 hours of taking the car there. They spent a great deal of time patiently answering all of our questions and were just so pleasant to deal with. I have no doubt that whatever will be needed to service or repair our car in the future will be done professionally and perfectly by Redmond.

We were on our annual Anniversary week and our vehicle started leaking fluids.....not from the area had no idea of where to go....on recommendation of the staff at the place we were staying we took it to Redmonds first thing in the morning......he said we needed a radiator quoted us a very fair price a nd offered us a loaner car.... said it would take 4 hours.....3 1/2 hours later we got the call that our vehicle was done and for 5 dollars less that what he quoted us!!!!... everyone we dealt with was very nice and very helpful.... when you are a long way from home and something like this happens its refreshing to find a place like this to take care of your needs.....I would highly recommend them to any and all. .. Thank you again for saving our vacation😂
I called to schedule an appointment to have my brakes looked at. The receptionist was so rude and nasty to me I decided to get my vehicle serviced elsewhere. Nice matters.
RIP OFF I took my car in on a Friday, told the representative I think I need a battery because I have needed a jump two morning in a row. I pick my car up. They tell me no I dont need a battery. Next day my car wouldnt start. Took it back on Monday they said yes you do need a battery. Then charged another $50 to check the battery that should of been checked in the first dam place. RIP OFF.
No appointment and had a wiper transmission fail in a blizzard. They got it right in, offered a loaner, and had it fixed the same day for a fair price. Great friendly service!
We had just had a water pump replaced and we left and came right back because afterwards our engine light came on. They now wanted 68$ just to scan something they didnt finish right. They charged us for radiator fluid and I just put half a jug in to top it off. This is fraud. We will not be back because this is terrible service. There are other places in town that stand behind their work. Im pursuing further action.

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. Not reputable and do Not stand by their work. Discriminate against young people and do not even acknowledge them at all. I could understand if they messed up but telling me you examined my vehicle and then later when I bring my car back because it’s leaking and you tell me the leak was there before but FAILED to tell me about it after the original exam, you were either A. Lying to me B. Never looked at my car or C. Messed up my car and and did nothing to fix it. Thanks for wasting my time and taking my money.
Had a quick conversation with the dude over the phone moments ago, I had a very unpleasant conversation with him. He was impolite, I did not enjoy talking to him. He didnt asked me what issues I was experiencing, and started quoting me several parts I needed. When I pressed him on him, he told me he had 35 years of experience and he did not need to look at my car to know what is wrong with it. he went on saying that if I wanted him to take a look, it would be $85. I dont mind going to his competitors and paying more for better customer service.Edit:I ended up going to Olsens AutoRepair. They gave me a free inspection. Told me what parts I needed, ordered it and put it on the same day. My car was ready the following day. It was $72 and I had a very pleasant experience. Never going back to Redmonds again.
Worst mechanics ever. Not very friendly left the lugnuts loose on my car. Stole all the change in the cupholder. Im not convinced they replaced all the parts on my car. And everything reeks of weed. Save time and money and go see a real mechanic. These people are not qualified.Update on their repair. It wasnt a bad bearing at all. It was bad tires. They rotated the tires to cover their mistakes. During our vacation my Honda broke down that I towed behind my Motorhome. I called Katie on Monday Morning and she said to drop it off on Tuesday when we got into town. I dropped it off at 11:00 A.M. Dan called me about 2 hours later and gave me the estimate and it was done by 4:00. I picked it up and it worked great for the rest of our vacation. Katie and Dan are awesome and were very friendly and helpful. The repair costs were more than fair. Just a note that they were really busy in the shop that day and they made sure we could enjoy the rest of our vacation. A BIG thanks from Scott and Dawn Schubert from Minnesota! Will keep your car for 8 days and tell you they only reset the light. Told me to come and theyd have a loner for me, I get there with 3 kids and they had no longer. John is beyond rude on the phone. I used to like this place but was beyond disappointed this summer. Go elsewhere.

DO NOT USE this company! Terrible service took our Jeep there for leak! Charged us 800 dollars for s new radiator and it was not the radiator that was leaking it was our air condition! The owner John did not care, treated me terrible over the phone!

My experience at Redmond caused me a tremendous amount of stress. Went in there to get a few hoses replaced and get an alignment. Ended up having to get my car towed to the shop because anti freeze and oil were dumping out of my car, same thing kept happening and had to bring back a total of THREE times to be fixed. I felt that I was treated so unfairly, worst customer service and communication I have ever seen. Would not recommend.

Very Poor rushed service. Told me the hesitation in my accelaration and my engine bogging down going uphills was because of the the o2 sensor. They replaced it and still had same problem. Brought it back and they told me its because the gas pedal is hitting a floor mat! Said nothing Is wrong with the car. Car still has the exact same issue.

I had always gone to Redmond because this is generally where my family goes. The second to last time I took my car here, there was a ticking coming from what I thought was the engine and was told there is no issues and to bring it back if it continues. The last time I brought my car in, I had to tow it in because it was violently shaking and the ticking turned into a clunking noise and they told me they didnt feel a shake and to bring it back in if it continued.....I was LIVID. Im no mechanic but if the car is shaking, there is a problem. I got about 2 miles away from their shop and the car started shaking worse than it did prior to bringing it. I brought my car elsewhere and was told I have a bad drive shaft. So Im left to think they either just drove it down the alley and turned around and didnt feel anything, drove it and felt the shaking and lied to me, or didnt drive it at all. Very, very unimpressed and let down that they would let me drive off thinking there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. Have always trusted them until now. I will not be bringing my car back here.
Had about $800 of work done to a car. Was told the car was in good condition to drive wherever and they fixed what needed to be fixed. Then went in a few weeks later for a safety inspection, and was told that it isnt safe to drive and they only did a part of what needed to be done. If it wasnt safe to drive after the first fix, why let me take it home? Doesnt make sense. Was also told a safety inspection was free (called in and asked for a quote on a safety inspection) just to get charged $70 for the inspection the next day. John is a nice guy, but the mechanics quotes arent accurate and wasnt told what actually needed to be done the first time. They werent that pleasant over the phone and started yelling when we asked questions about parts/things being fixed. Not too sure if ill be going back in the future.
My Ac pump went out as soon as I got to the camp ground. These guys not only took care of it the next day and saved my vacation, but gave me a loaner to use. And then charged me a very resonable price. Its very easy to take advantage of out of towners. They definatly did not. If this place wasnt 4 hours from home I would bring all my vehicles here. Worst Costumer service, I asked why they thought I needed something done. They wouldn’t give me any other reason besides that’s what was due to the miles on my car. I think as a customer I have every right to get an explanation about anything about to be done on my car.

Redmonds had my vehicle for over 21 days gave me the worst loner I have ever drove in in my life had to bring the loaner in to be fixed while driving it told there was no other loner showed up to take my vehicle finally was inside his shop being worked on told him I was taking it to Williams he gives it to me charges me $1400 pull out of there and it wouldnt even go over 40 miles per hour he is a total crook may he have very bad karma after this and I wouldnt even give him the one star

Called to get ac charged quoted $102.00. The condenser was replaced and they told me it was not. The connection to the condenser was off and they did not try to fix it. Charged me $81.00 to diagnose the problem.
