Server was very friendly and attentive. Served popcorn as a free appetizer. We ordered brussel sprouts for an appetizer, they were delicious. Husband ordered pasta, it was bland and lukewarm. I ordered a taco salad, came with freshly made cilantro dressing. Liked how you can get a half or full salad. The taco salad was bland also.
Nice local place with a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, bar, and coffee. Several off menu specials. Prices were a little high but it is fairly remote. Service was friendly.
What is Las Animas? My brain first read the animals until I read it again. I tried looking into the origin or background to this trendy little spot, but didnt find one on their website.Las is Spanish/Latin root for the & animas is Latin for mind & soul. Id like to know more about the name. But besides my thoughts on that, what about the food/menu?Breakfast menu is short but so efficient, fresh, & just scrumptious. Id totally recommend. Our waitress Catherine was so sweet & attentive. As a traveler, Id totally recommend this spot. Also thankful this place was open before 10a.
Decent food, but pricey for what youre getting. Their French fries arent impressive. Draft beer is expensive at $6-7.50, so be prepared.
Ordered two byo burgers and a kids cheeseburger. The byo burgers were ok. Really nothing spectacular. One of them was supposed to be medium well and it was well done. They were both supposed to have cheese and one was missing the cheese. The kids burger is what surprised me the most. It came on hard, toasted French bread while the other burgers came on buns. Needless to say, my 8 yo didnt touch it and it was a total waste.
If you are traveling a distance and come upon this restaurant.... it definitely isnt worth what you will pay. The waitress was so sweet and amazing but the food was very dry and lacking of flavor. They also were out of most of what we asked for. This was not a great experience for someone touring the area. But its okay if youre supporting your local business.
Food was pretty good. Ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer, it only came with two and costed $13. They were very good though. The Ruben sandwich was on point.
Brunch was inexpensive, quick and tasty. This is exactly what you want after a night at the Trinidad Lounge. $4 mimosas and an easy menu with the basics of brunch. Not fancy, and just what you need.
Fresh ingredients, good food! They made a minor mistake with one of my two carry out lunch orders earlier today, which oddly enough helped me choose between 4 and 5 stars for the rating. They forgot the French fries with one order, and replaced them with 2 orders of fries. However, it was the fact that they went above and beyond to deliver them before we were finished eating. We shared the one order of fries while we waited, and the replacement order and bonus order showed up in less than 5 minutes. What prompt service! And the food was far above average quality. Thank you Las Animas Grill staff, 5 stars all the way!
My roommate and I have been in twice for dinner. Hes crazy about the fish and chips, Ive had the flounder and the chicken picatta. Everything has been really well cooked and the service is fast and very friendly. The only criticism I could offer is that things were a little under seasoned, but Id rather it be under than over. Probably the best restaurant Ive been to in Trinidad.
While restaurant was hungry. Food took an hour and still wasn’t at our table. I understand a table that got there after me getting their food before me but they came and left while we were sitting there. This was a Monday night so obviously the restaurant isn’t used to volume. If you can’t handle a 10 table section, take some tables out of there. Hard to make 2 veteran servers mad but you did it, congrats.
I love this place and for selfish reasons (being seated immediately, kind and caring waitstaff, calm easy morning atmosphere) Id like to keep it all for my family but Ill share. The food is real, not pre-made junk. Its delicious and reasonably priced, which in this day is a rare find. My husband says if he could find a place like this at home, hed eat there every morning. They have regular drip coffee, but also have an espresso bar for those of us who need a little more octane! For those who need a big breakfast to get their day going, get the breakfast burrito. Its plate sized, has everything including hashbrowns in it, and then smothered in fresh red or green chili. It can shared very easily. This is a dont miss for Trinidad!
Good lunch options but breakfast is lacking
The food is just average. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. The server was either struggling because she was busy or just wasn’t any good because we hardly saw her and it took forever for her to check-in. She must’ve thought she didn’t do a good enough job because then she added automatic gratuity to a table of two adults and two kids. Pretty big mistake in my book, because I tip better.
Small and intimate atmosphere in historic district, great burgers and sandwiches with homestyle fries. Prices are reasonable. Service was great! Well be back 🍽❣
While I cannot attest to the consistency of the food, as I have only eaten here once, what I can attest to is that the employees and owner of this restaurant deserve EVERYONES business. To the reviews stating that the service was low quality - bad days happen and people deserve second chances (imagine if people could leave public reviews about meeting YOU that one time on your bad day.) Our server, Hunter, paid for my and my partners meal after learning that we were Hurricane Ida evacuees from Lafitte, Louisiana. The owner, Jay, gave us a place to stay while we watched our neighbors, friends, family lose everything. Jay THEN got together with his associates and provided us with food, clothing, toiletries, etc. to bring back home for our community! These amazing strangers showed us more hospitality than we ever thought possible. Absolutely be a patron of this establishment, and know that the money you spend here is going to good hearted people. We need more people like Jay and Hunter in the world.P.SThe French Toast paired well with the Dark and Stormy
Wonderful breakfast. The loaded biscuit is Delicious! Has a sort of a fried chicken taste and is covered with FABULOUS green chile gravy and 2 large slices of bacon. My daughter got the breakfast burrito. It was large and equally fantastic! The service was great also. Friendly and inviting staff. It was so good to sit down and have a Real, flavorful, breakfast.
I truthfully dont know how this restaurant has 4 stars, my husband and I are foodies and were greatly disappointed with service and the quality of the food. It was trying too hard to be upscale when the taste was mediocre at best. The price was way too expensive for mediocre food. It took the server 30 minutes to even come and say hello and take our order, it was terrible hospitality. The menu says $4 memos before 2pm and we got charged $7 at 1 pm…Horrible representation of Trinidad, Colorado...fast food taste better than this sadly…. /:
Let me start by saying we will try it again. The food had the potential to be amazing…but, our medium rare hamburgers were served to us well done, and then some. The fries were fresh cut and fabulous! It also took 30 minutes to get 3 burgers and and a sandwich out to us at around 2 PM. They weren’t terribly busy at the time, maybe 1/2 capacity. However, our server was super apologetic and offered to redo the order or to comp us dessert. We said no…just let the cook know there’s a world of difference between Med rare and over well done….. but she did give us a 15% discount on the ticket anyway…. and she insisted.
Food was eh at best. Service was slow and in passing. My burger was beyond dead. I ordered MedWell and got charred hockey puck. Beyond dry. Fries were tasty. He ordered the California Reuben. Again has to get extra dressing because it was so dry. Drinks were water but couldn’t be filled regularly. Not sure I would return. It was food that was so-so tasting that filled my stomach. That should tell you all you need to know. The fries keep it from getting just 2 stars.
It was a fun clean smaller bar and grill with good tasting food! The green chilis are spicy but the green chili fries are where its at! Expected price range and nice staff. Would go back!
Biscuit much to dense and tough, gravy so spicy the sausage flavor is lost. Side sausage should be free formed, not preformed. Denver scramble very good. Service XLNT.
Excellent breakfast here. The burrito with red chili sauce was excellent and I highly recommend it. The owner greeted us and offered advice on our travel route.
Everything we had for dinner was delicious! So good we came back for breakfast. Love the green chili sauce! Well done peeps, well done!
We stayed at an Airbnb just above the restaurant. So it was perfect for us. The food was great, not very expensive. Clean, friendly staff, parking is all over the place but kinda hard to get a spot. Across from dispensaries if thats your thing.
Absolutely fantastic experience! They were very busy and our food was late, without us asking food was offered on the house. Great drinks and food was delicious 😋
Stopped by for lunch around 2pm. Service was fine and the fries were banging but my Rueben was disappointing. Friend got the Cuban Sandwich and enjoyed it. I think the meat on half of my sandwich was NOT cut along the bias making it difficult to chew and, ultimately, inedible. For a $13 meal, not being able to finish half the sandwich was a let down. Everything else was good, though.
Everything we tried was quite good, a mixed menu with some imagination. Good mixed drinks and cheerful accommodation of my very picky margarita and bloody mary preferences. A tourist town and cannabis culture make it little pricey but we had no disappointments!
Their fish and chips were really good! They also have some great mixed drink options. Staff was friendly and accomodating.
The food was so good and fresh and also perfect service, thank you
Vary friendly great service great food and drinks will definitely go again
One of the only places downtown I’ve seen that you can sit down and eat, and let me tell you, it’s the bomb! Service was great, staff was very nice! And the food was excellent. Even the popcorn we were given to snack on while waiting for our meal was good! I had the Miners burger with no BBQ sauce, sub peanut butter. It was literally perfect. I’ll try the Brussels sprouts next time. The fries were awesome too. My new fav burger joint in Trinidad!!
This place has and amaizing breakfast! I had the bisquets and gravy, my sons had the French toast and the burrito. Lots of really tasty food, prices are good, highly suggest hash browns with the bisquets! This place is really a gem.
Really really delicious food! French fries were so good and the Brussel sprouts yummy!! Service was amazing really enjoyed the place! Highly recommend if in town and need somewhere to eat!
I enjoyed the post-pandemic ambiance so much, being able to eat and drink in such a peaceful coffee-house type of atmosphere. I had a tasty fish diiner and enjoyed every bite.
The green chili is good here/Tap Beer selection is good/I like the choices on the menu/Servers are friendly.
Awesome place, dope staff. Jay is a rad person. Close your eyes, drop a finger on the menu and whatever it lands on will be awesome.
Yummy food, great service, and outside seating so you can bring your dog!
Amazing. Is this what Jesus meant when he said hed make a place for us? You should definitely go here.
Great little restaurant on commercial street in Trinidad Colorado the street tacos are amazing they have about 5 different ones to pick from I have tried two of them and so far they are amazing. The table next to me got the Nachos and they look really really good so I will be getting those next time. So if you are in Trinidad picking up some cannabis lol stop by Las Animas Grill you will not be disappointed!
An absolute mess! Btw, i think the translation of Animas is disappointment. Huge lack of ethics, respect and pride in 99% of the businesses here. Your better off to cook at home, but dont expect the store to have what you need either.
Always good food. Try their specials if they have any. Chef is amazing!!
The staff was so awesome. They made me a special order portobello mushroom burger vegan and gluten free. My waitress was so nice and made me feel really appreciated as a patron. I highly recommend going here anytime your in Trinidad.
Just got drinks, was going to get food but just didn’t want anything on there menu. But, there drinks were good.
Very good food. Service was a tad slow but the food quality makes it worth the wait. Will return.
Had the slopper. It was very good. Had more of a gravy mixed with chilli. Although I enjoyed my meal I would have to say Pueblo, Co has a better slopper. The waitresses were all very very pleasant & enjoyed their interaction. Thank you all!!!
Great place. Loved the Ruben. David was a fantastic waiter.
Love this place. Food is always spectacular and staff are awesome
Good food, value, and service
Great place and great food and the help is fantastic
Sprouts and salad were fine. Burgers were passable. Sandwich was poor.
My favorite place for breakfast and coffee in Trinidad. Seated quickly, great meal, and best service.
Very cute little bar/grill. Great service and food.
Excellent! Great food and service.
Delicious food and excellent service! Possibly the best chicken fried steak Ive ever had.
Located in a turn of the century building the Las Animas grill offers you amazing food and a classic atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and the staff is pleasant. There is also a Air B&B located upstairs. If your looking for some good local fare, stop by the Las Animas Grill.
Great service. Very accomidating. Thank you.
I was very upset when I made a call and asked to speak to one of the employees. I asked to speak to the cook and the manager got on the phone and talked to me very rudely, saying that I couldn’t talk to the chef and giving a complete attitude. I definitely don’t recommend going here.
Friendly service, good food and atmosphere. Music was a little loud but we were trying to catch up with family.
Do not order the biscuits and gravey! The biscuit was was over cooked and the gravey needs work.
Great location. Good coffee drinks and cocktail list.
Chicken picatta was delicious and so were the fish and chips!! Really good music and are server was awesome!!! Come try them out!!!
Excellent food, good service.Even the kale is good, and Im not a kale guy...
Good food and service were kind and friendly i enjoyed my meal
Excellent service, good price, great latte, but I wouldnt recommend the fish and chips. The fries were excellent, but the breading on the fish was not to my liking. They also have a limited menu, and not the menu thats on Google. Hence why I settled for the fish and chips. Still a pretty cool little spot to check out.
Drinks are great but mine and my wifes food was too burnt to eat. I got the slopper and my bun and burger were badly burnt, I feel he thought it was ok because he covered it in chilli. The waitress was nice
Great food and a good atmosphere. I had the Cajun chicken sandwich and would highly recommend it! Top notch fries and drinks.
Small with a limited menu. But the food was good and service excellent.
Great food great service great vibe I recommend 100%
Love Love this place. One of Trinidads best places to bring your Bestie.
Super delicious! Excellent staff! We will definitely be back! The Corned Beef Ruben and the Kale are amazing and a must try!
Ive really liked everything Ive had here. Its awesome 6/3/21.
Came across this this little restaurant by accident but the breakfast was very good. Very friendly staff
Such a cool place! The menu was not typical grill fare...and everything we got was tasty.
Not bad. Local
Met up with a friend to catch up and the staff was great. My wife said the mimosas were poured very well.
Thank you Jay for your professional and friendly service.Brussels sprouts and chicken wings are the best!Wish I could have taken the ice tea! 😆
Drove 40+ miles to have breakfast. My place to stop when traveling through Trinidad
Good breakfast burrito- free popcorn!
The brussel sprouts are AMAZING! Fresh food and great service.
Great selection of tacos and burgers. The menu is much larger than I was able to find online. Jay, the owner/bartender, is a good guy and kept the bar lively while I was waiting for our order. Trinidad has an issue with local restaurants being closed on odd days but las Animas is open 7 days a week.
The breakfast burrito with green chile was delicious!!
The chili cheese fries were really, really good, so was the service.
