First and last time eating here. Hamburgers were gross, maybe frozen. Boards were they prep food were not wiped down, I was looking at them while ordering and no orders were being prepared, you should clean the prep board after you’re done preparing items immediately to prevent bacteria and cross contamination. A girl was on her phone near the frying area touching her phone and food. Bathrooms need a deep cleaning!
Ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 cookies. Didn’t get but one of the sandwiches. Called and complained, they said they’d look into it and handle it. Never called back. No refund. No food. Poor, poor service. Never going back.
Great comfort-food in the heart of Trussville. There are plenty of healthier options, but lots of good down home choices too.My wife went with the grilled chicken rice bowl. I went with meatloaf, okra, and collard greens. Well definitely return.
Wonderful food, large portions, and kind staff make this fast food establishment an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Whether you decide to eat in or drive through, you wont be disappointed. If for some reason you are, the staff is more than willing to make it right.
Great experience! Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Will come back again.
My husband and I were in town and looking for a quick meat and three type lunch. We found Kemps and saw they had hamburger steak with sides as a daily special and thought we would give them a try. Wait staff was sweet, but it definitely was not quick and the hamburger steak looked as if they forgot they were cooking it. It was completely charred on the underside and broke in half when I tried to cut through for my first bite. I ended up peeling The burnt half off and eating the top half that was not burned. The burger was disappointing and the fries tasted like they had been cooked in old grease. While we appreciate the wait staff offering to make things right, we do not plan on returning.
Have been here three times to get Mr. Beast food. First couple of times the burgers were juicy and tasty, and the fries were great. The orders were wrong both times - either missing ingredients or missing menu items entirely, but we overlooked the errors since the food was ultimately good.Third time -- order was wrong again. Missing key ingredients that we had to drive back to correct. The hamburger meat tasted like and had the texture and dryness of microwaved leftover beef. Fries completely lacked any seasoning.Overall, they have the ability to make good food, but consistency is definitely an issue. If you come here, be sure to check your order if youre getting takeout.
Great service and variety of foods. Christian environment and community oriented. Nice change for the world we live in!
I should have stuck with my gut after reading the mixed reviews but we decided to try the place anyway. I ordered pick up and tipped extra to help encourage an accurate order. That didnt work. I was shorted several things. Then the food itself was mediocre at best. My philly was incredibly bland as was most of the food we got. My husband loves ruebens of just about any kind but even he was less that happy about the sandwich he received and he is the farthest thing from picky. The hamburger steak my son got was dry and had no seasoning except for the truck load of pepper on it. My kid likes pepper and even he said it was way too much pepper. The best we can say about our experience is the food was edible...but not enjoyable.
Love their new place. They have so many food choices available from sandwiches to meat and vegetables. Im sure you will find something here youll love.
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, and great service! We will definitely be back. Good bless y’all!
Wow! This place is a hidden gem, not only was the food fresh, homemade and delicious the customer service was top notch! Staff was friendly and informative, the establishment was clean with eco-friendly options and the service was super quick we will be back for sure!!
This place is a fantastic honey hole! Theyve got something special going on here. Its not your run-of-the-mill fast food joint. Try them out for yourself!
Fantastic breakfast and superb service, Ill be going back to try the lunch menu. Biggest biscuit I have ever seen, takes about a quart jar of gravy to cover this thing
Always good food and great friendly service. They have a pay it forward wall for people to purchase items so other people in need can receive an item.
Nice relaxing atmosphere and the fried chicken rice bowl was really good.
I want to take time and tell you how great the service is, the workers are always caring. Food is awesome, both breakfast and lunch. Anything you get, you won’t be upset.
Great food. Wonderfully, home cooked meat and three plates and large sandwiches.
We are new to the area and thought wed give this spot a try. This was a definite miss. You dont get a second chance to make a first impression and the impression we got was not a good one. The restaurant was nearly empty with the exception of two more people at another table. Yet, there were still multiple tables that hadnt been cleared, and werent cleared for a long while. And when they did finally clear them they just wiped everything on the table onto the floor. That would have really stood out except that there was trash on the floor in several places. Our waitress was kind, but thats about the best I can say about our experience. When our food arrived at the table my first thought was that the portions were pretty small for what we paid and while the food was OK, everyone in our party said they assumed the food was all frozen food that had just been heated up or fried. The chicken tenders were terribly overcooked. Doubtful wed revisit, unfortunate.
The food was okay, not bad, not good just average. The wings, lemon pepper and hot were nice and hot and the flavor on the hot was very good, the lemon pepper so so. The fried green tomatoes were a greasy mess and had a weird, sweet taste. The service left something to be desired. The place only had about 5 other tables occupied and the waitresses struggled to keep up. We had to ask for napkins and had to get the staff to get her to come over a few times when we needed service. All and all I would go back for some wings. It was one of those meals as my mother used to say A belly full is a belly full...12 wings, with the one side included, a small side salad, a drink and two slices of pound cake $24.95
Food is ok. Cleanliness has declined. Glad the business is doing well enough that the owner is opening 2 new restaurants in Birmingham area but I encourage him to keep focus and not lose quality any further on this location.
Ordered through Uber Eats. Delivery was fast. I only received 2 of my 4 items, and both items I received had something wrong (no dressing for Caesar sald, and no white gravy for my chicken fried chicken or w/e its called. Read the tickets man. Not hard. What I did receive was delicious, on the other hand. This is a great meat and 3 type place, with super good food. If you get it, youll enjoy it (and yes I blame both Uber Eats and the restaurant equally in this in that the ticket should have been checked/the pickup should have been checked. Seriously good food though. Will eat here again, Ill just pick it up this time.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Their menu has a wide selection sure to offer something for everyone in your crew. The cornbread was amazing!!! The food was also reasonably priced.
My husband and I have been to Kemps about a dozen times and only had one decent experience. We thought maybe it was just a bad day or bad timing, but today at the straw that broke the camels back. First of all, they left out the side of mashed potatoes I ordered, but the worst part was the wrap they gave me had a huge sticker that said use by 7/18. Please note, today is 7/19 and with me being 8 months pregnant, its probably not a good idea for me to eat expired food. Very disappointed. Do better, Kemps.
Nice and friendly staff. Recommend.
Wonderful food. Even better service. Recommend it to everyone
So they closed Yardbirds and opened up Kemp’s. If you liked or visited Yardbirds things will look similar and some things were carried over from the old menu like the chicken and Waffles. The service was good and the food came in a timely fashion. The price was good for what we got, about 20.00 and some change for two people and an appetizer.
I ordered a conecuh biscuit and a bologna biscuit, when served, I immediately knew that I could not finish both. They were huge! What I could eat was delicious, I would definitely recommend those breakfast biscuits. Well done Kemps!
We love the food here, and the people and service are always amazing.
The lemon pepper wings werent seasoned evenly. It appeared they were seasoned after being placed in the basket since one side was seasoned and one wasnt. My daughter had the chicken and rice bowl. She said it didnt taste good. The chicken was burned at the tips and too lacked seasoning. The customer service was horrible and unorganized. The cashier was also the waiter. If you are a person of color, avoid this place altogether.
I wish I could give a better review, but I wish they put more into this food. This is frozen or canned food.I ended up throwing my dinner away and cooking for myself. The people here are very friendly, but if I cant finish the meal I cant leave a better review.
Beast. BURGER. 10/10 came here with my husband and we loved it
The service was okay but the food was not. I had hair in my beef tips and rice. also there was hair in my squash. The food had absolutely no flavor it was so bland. When i asked if they did military discounts i got a sigh with eyes rolling.
Kemps Kitchen is quite the hidden gem! Everything seems to be home made, including sauces, and served to order. Their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, with great suggestions. This is my 2nd visit there in 2 weeks, and I have no complaints. Their establishment is clean, the food is fresh (and served quickly), with great prices (nothing over $11). Always check for their daily specials, usually $7, and it comes with the drink included. My personal favorites so far are their traditional wings, and their bacon cheeseburger. Kemps Kitchen will now become one of our family hangouts!
My husband and I had the Philly cheese steak which was pretty delicious. We also had onion rings and okra they were good needed some salt though. Sweet tea was great. Not too sweet... it was perfect.
Staff was friendly but the food was disappointing and overpriced. They were out of most of the items on the menue.
Food is mediocre. I personally have witnessed the owner treating his employees poorly and someone had found hard plastic in their chicken salad while I was there. 10/10 recommend never eating or working there!
I love doing reviews on local small business establishments, this place is great. To start off, Gabe (Server) was super nice. I like the Mason jar and crushed ice with flexi straw. The appetizer (Fried green tomatoes) are reasonably priced, where they lacked in presentation they had good flavor. The House Salad was perfectThe Big Kahuna with terriyaki and grilled pineapples was really good. I think they forgot the slice of tomatoe on it, it was great even without it.I like that you can get cheese fries as a side.I would recommend if you wanted to try a good menu and decent pricing.
Love Kemps Kitchen. Their staff is so friendly and helpful. They always give you service with a smile. This year they made our Thanksgiving/my birthday less stressful. It gave me an opportunity to spend time with my family and the food was great. Be sure to check out Kemps Kitchen.
Went to grab a quick lunch and the burger was great. Banana Pudding was the best ive had.
Really enjoyed everything about this place! Very friendly people fast service and great food.
Expensive and the food isnt all that. I got the Keke fries.
The cashier was very friendly and my food was wonderful I had a Ruben and Cajun ranch fries
Bryan Kemp is really good at giving excuses. I was fired about a month ago and Im still waiting on my paycheck. This is the most unprofessional and ridiculous experience Ive ever had with a company. Just give me my money Bryan. Being busy opening another restaurant is a laughable excuse. If you cant handle managing the Trussville location (Simple things like paying your staff) then dont open another restaurant.
First time to eat here...food was great! Had chicken fingers and waffle s! Definitely will go back!!
Excellent meal. Hamburger steak was excellent, really good mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. Green beans were average, but they always are anywhere you get them except mamas house. Best part of the meal was my terrific server, Maddie. She was outstanding. Good first time experience and I will be back again!
We actually ended up in Trussville to eat lunch at our favorite Chinese place, then discovered it was closed. Kemp’s was right next door so (adventurous foodies that we are), we decided to give it a try. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with cheese fries and sweet tea. I really had no complaints worth mentioning. The prices are very reasonable and everything I tried tasted good. Service was quick and friendly as well. My only minor complaint would be the atmosphere of the restaurant. I like where I think they’re trying to go with it (more of a southern/trendy look), but I think some of that got lost in the making and resulted in a confused/clutter feel. I also enjoyed the background music selection, but was insanely distracted by way too many televisions playing way too many soap operas. Kinda ruined the feel of the restaurant, and they felt very out of place. Shut off the TV’s and keep serving the same yummy food, and I’ll be back. Overall, a pretty good experience 👌🏼
Went in hungry, had to eat, ordered the Patty Melt and Cajun ranch fries . The fries were good, but patty melt was dry with no onions or no sauce, just hambuger patty and cheese on Texas toast. It was not a good burger at all
Food was good. Staff member was above average in attentiveness
They have very good food. The service is great and the staff is friendly.
Ive only been here a couple times so far, so I havent tried too much off their menu. But their bowls are pretty good. They may seem a bit pricey at first, but you get a surprisingly good amount of food for the price, and its very good. Lettuce is always fresh, and the chicken is always fully cooked and has a great flavor. Highly recommend
Friendly service and really good food at breakfast.
Very friendly service. Food is fresh and delicious.
Went for breakfast and was severely disappointed. I got the build your own omlette and the veggies inside were still cold and raw while the eggs were warm at best. When you order this that is all you get, no sides to go with it. Not even a full breakfast. If the food doesnt disappoint you the service will, rude staff with no desire to assist customers. You couldnt pay me to return to this establishment.
Their chicken always has a bad taste as if its unwashed. Horrible
Staff are always very friendly, what I like about Kemp’s is the variety of food with a few interesting foods that end up being very good, I was skeptical about the fried corn on the cob but it was very good!
Horrible staff. Slow with no brains.
Was a great experience, the service and food was the bomb.
I had a Swiss mushroom burger and it was good with some seasonal fries excellent service was great very friendly when you enter and you can sit yourself
My first experience was so-so.Gave them a second try and they hit it out of the park.
Some of the best breakfast in Trussville.
Brian and his staff are always happy, generous, and blessed people. Food is always great.
Breakfast biscuits are huge...and good.
Great experience very responsive to table. Good attention to derail, open friendly personalities.
Love Kemps Kitchen! Food is amazing. Philly steak sandwiches, grilled chicken wrap are just a few of my favorites. And the Friday Night Special! Delivery or Dine In, Drive Thru! Amazing Staff!
The service and food was amazing. Well be back for sure.
Good menu to choose from. The food we got was hot and delicious.
Been there twice both timesThe food was ok. Doesn’t really take fresh. Taste like it’s made from can or a bag of frozen food.
Food is great! Desserts are probably some of the best Ive ever had.
Food was great service was great also, reasonable prices.
Had the chicken rice bowl and thought it was tasteless.
The first time we tried it we loved it but the wait was way to long and the second time we bought a ham on texas toast and there was one thin deli slice of ham on it and they said they could only give one napkin and we had bought two sandwiches for 2 people i hope things will get better for the business there with the new entertainment center near by
It was our first time there today. It was sooooooo delicious. If you like homemade everything then go to Kemps. 😊
Good food. Drive thru good smoked sausage and egg biscuits
Definitely recommend .. Great atmosphere will be definitely going back. And GREAT prices
The restaurant is very clean. The service was excellent. The food was hot and great. I had the big kahuana. I would recommend you try that.
The club sandwich I ordered was fantastic! I ordered the sweet potato fries and was extremely surprised by how good they were. In fact, they were the best sweet potato fries I have ever had! I went thru the drive thru and was disappointed that the guy waiting on me was not wearing a face mask or gloves. This is a pandemic after all!! While I did eat my food (because of how hungry I was), I will not return until after I have my vaccine.
We had a large group from all around AL State meet for breakfast here. Service was fast & ladies very conscious about refills & our needs. Met the owner & he was very nice & appreciative that we chose his restaurant. We will come again when here for our annual conference and any other time we are in town for camps at Springville Camp & Conference Center, the facility owned by the Assemblies of God.
What a joke !!! I didnt put stars on there. you have to do at least 1. They need - stars for those guys. Nasty management. Ask for money back before I got food . They would not give my money bac . Could have made a way bigger scene but I did not. I can fry better chicken. Oh. The fries were good .
The biscuits are monstrous and delicious.
Chicken fried chicken and 3 veggies. WOW..YUM YUM.
Ordered ahead and they seemed clueless when I got there, and I understand things happen but they didn’t seem at all worried or concerned about getting me my order. Won’t go back.
Service is very good. Food was great. My family really likes Kemp’s Kitchen. The new location is great.
Best breakfast that ive had. Service was impeccable. Great price for what u get
Dine in time is about an hour. Food is good. Very nice staff
I stopped at the Golden Rule and they were closed. It was about 2:30 PM 12/30/2020 so I went to Kemps cafe. I ordered a Kemp Burger with no bacon and no cheese. It had only lettuce when I got it. I ordered a childs burger with Ketchup, Mustard and onions. It only had a pickle. The meat was not freshly cooked and the fries were not hot. it cost 15 dollars. I will not go back.
Very good food and service!!
So I came in last night for a DoorDash order. I had to wait like 20 minutes. Same thing happened today, also the floor was really dirty With food everywhere. This was a big deal to me that more than half of the employees was not wearing mask properly. Just not professional and working around food does not look good.
