Once we started browsing the snakes, we were approached a handful of times by staff asking if we had any questions or needed help. They were extremely knowledgeable! You can tell how much they care about all the animals there! We got our beautiful boy Severus, and Leigh was amazing! Thank you so much for everything! We are ecstatic to have Severus as a part of our clan!

I always have had good luck with their fish. The people have been professional and willing to help with just about any situation pertaining to pets and questions. All the guests inside the pet store always appear to be happy and fully satisfied with their services as well.

Excellent service for our exotics food, and accessories, have come here for a long time, always worth the drive when I dont want to raise my own live food which I did for many years living so far out from the city. Sometimes its just easier to purchase, their lab rats, mice, crickets and any other live feed you may need are always healthy & Harty. Our pets couldnt be happier!

Definitely a store that you can find anything you need for a pet! Even if you are looking for a fun unique pet, there are plenty there. I went with my son and 3 nephews, they said it was like a mini zoo . Definitely fun to take your kiddos as well.

I went and got a tortoise from there as a birthday gift. The workers werent very knowledgeable about them but there was a customer there who had 3 of them and was able to answer my questions. When I asked if they had been seen by a vet or someone to check overall health the employee told me no they dont really do that so that was interesting you would think they would want to make sure the animals they are finding forever homes for are healthy and when looking up these kind of tortoises I saw that they werent really giving them the right food for their diet so even the one I had bought her shell was raised because of not having a proper diet but no worries we got her on the best greens and spoil her. This place is awesome but I would like to see them care for the animals better.

The best pet store I have ever visited. We love to bring our two year old daughter when we are close to tropical Kingdom she had a blast looking at the 100s of animals from snakes, birds, hamsters, bunnys, guinea pigs, salt water and freshwater fish, coral, invertebrates and much more. They have all the supplys you need and knowledge to safely and responsibly keep a pet. There prices are good as well, especially if you are military. Over all like I said if we are close by we stop no matter what to see what they have, its a mini zoo.

Bought my first 3 snakes from here and love them all. Also bought a few different rats and hamsters and the bird selection is great as long as you can get your hands on one before they are sold out 😁 my favorite shop in town I drive across town just for this

What a nice surprise going here! They have a large selection of reptiles; some pretty unusual (viper boa, African file snake, Solomon island boa…). They actually have tortoises, frogs, feeders, etc. Mostly pretty young employees, but they know a lot. And they are not afraid to go find out answers to questions they don’t know instead of making something up. Oh, prices are quite good.

I drove over an hour to get to this store and I was not disappointed! Hands down their staff is amazing and they have a huge selection at a fair price. However, please read the notes on the tanks! Its actually ok for the baby turtles to be struggling to flip back over. Youll have to visit the store to understand!

I do love this place. My favorite is the reptiles and birds. They have a bit of everything. For almost any animal. Personally I go here for my snake food and occasionally get snacks for my dogs. Prices are decent and the staff is very upbeat, friendly, and knowledgeable. I would recommend.

Came in to check the place out the other day. The birds did not appear to be doing well, especially the babies who were rocking their heads and in heavily trafficked areas when they could have benefited from a quiet place with a more sensitive caretaker that looked after them and provided enrichment. Large Oscars were cramped together in too small of a tank, and some other enclosures did not appear to be set up by people who are knowledgeable for the species. The mice area smelled extremely of ammonia, which I do not remember happening when I was there several years ago, definitely felt like some extra care, knowledge, and empathy needs to be extended to the creatures under Tropical Kingdoms care to make sure the animals are happy and healthy but also to set a good example for buyers of what they should be doing.

Wide variety of pet supplies, and some pets. Very cool store, and can definitely recommend them. Worth visiting!! Not being a Karen but the store could use some cleaning/upkeep. Things look like they havent been moved in years.

I always get the mice from tropical Kingdom and theyre the least expensive in town that I found there very prompt and theyre courteous and they catch the mice for me. This is 6 months later after I used to go I dont my snake will not eat the mice at Tropical Kingdom because theyre filthy that he got sick on him once and he went three months without eating anything and I thought he was had something wrong with them so I took him to the vet come to find out I went to Arizona feed store and their mice are clean that clean the cages every night at Tropical Kingdom it stinks their nasty and they do not clean their cages but once a week and they have a lot of my eye mean you think theyd want to clean a little bit more often Im in charge fifty cents more per Mouse but clean the freaking cages

Really cute family owned store, however they do not separate guineas pigs by gender when we mentioned that as a concern they just recommend us to get a baby girl instead, but those can also get pregnant by three weeks. Would love the store if they looked more into actual guineas pig care and unneeded pregnancies. Also noticed webs around the store. They also did not have hay which they need full time. If looking for a guinea pig to add to your family go to the humane society.

Yesterday we went to Tropical Kingdom again to have our water tested before introducing fish. We were introduced to Jessie. She was patient, informative and so helpful. We will continue to shop there for our pet needs. After months of struggling to keep fish alive and weeks of trying to cycle our tanks after being heavily misinformed by another individual, we are happy with our two tanks. Our fish seem happy and we are beyond excited to purchase more fish in a week to complete our tanks. Heres the single or family experience summarized. My nieces birthday is coming up, we whent to this place as a second choice to find a exotic pet called an Axolotl as a gift and they DID have them from a local breeder in Tucson. They only cost $39.99 and they also got alot of other pets accessories as well. The only thing ill say is this when you get near the BACKROOM DOOR of the store it does start to lean towards a very strong type of water odor of some sort. Not that big of a deal but thought you should know people. Check them out if you get a chance you might just find what youre looking for.

Amazing pet store! Clean and friendly a huge selection. From fish, to rodents, to birds and reptiles! It was lit. My only complain is that the employees were a little too eager to help. We were there for like half an hour? And were asked like every 5 minutes if we needed help and it made me, personally, feel rushed.

Employees were not working, just standing around taking, several dead betas and several dead fish in separate tanks, the floors were wet and it smelled like moldy water. Very unclean and unprofessional, this company has gone down hill the last two years. This is very disappointing since it used to be my favorite pet store.

The best pet shop in Tucson by far, customer for about 16 years now and counting. They take great care of thier animals and have great customer service orientated staff. Highly recommend.

We paid $400 extra for a green Indian ringneck because it was said to be tamed. This bird was a $1,000 total. The untamed ones were $600. Come to find out this bird is not remotely tamed and that we got overcharged horribly. Green Indian ringnecks cost normally about $250 to $400. Also, they clipped his wings before we took him home but they did a terrible job. Its jagged and since day one of bringing him home, he has been flying.Not to mention that most of the staff at this location are extremely rude and unhelpful.Idk. We paid what we did for a tamed bird because we knew we didnt have patience or time to tame him. We love our birds and take great care of them but not much time on our hands to tame them.Of course a no return policy pol.

I used to love this place but something has shifted in the past year or so. Aquariums are filled with ich, crowded miserable Oscars crammed together in tiny spaces, and they are legit trying to charge $10 per tiny corydora and seem to just be making up prices on the fly. Theyre also selling a bunch of house plants as aquatic plants with zero education or warning about them, which will simply rot in your aquarium. Not to mention no employee wears a mask DURING A PANDEMIC. The aquarium stuff being sold is filthy and just covered in dirt and rot. Even their collection of cat supplies has greatly reduced.Every time I go in now I get this impression that staff are annoyed with me. Maybe its the mask.

The macaws and cockatoos enclosures are way too small, the poor animals are constantly running back and forth trying to get out. I saw one try to spread its wings and the wingtips literally touched each side of the cage. My husband and I spotted a few of the babies with plucked areas too, this is incredibly inhumane and irresponsible. This is sickThey dont even separate the guinea pigs from the bunnies, theyre forced into the same, small setup

Great store! They have a huge range of fish, birds, and reptiles. I have bought tons of fish and other animals here and have never been disappointed. They have great bird toys, cages, and food selection. The staff are very nice and are easy to talk to. Kinda like an old friend in a way. I always enjoy seeing what new animals they have. It’s very natural and is family run so you aren’t dealing with big chain companies. They also take great care of their animals and I very rarely see a sick one. Their prices are reasonable as well. It’s an absolutely wonderful place if you like exotic animals 😋

Tropical Kingdom is a place where my son goes to get food for his snake he loves it there he has no problem whatsoever and they are very friendly I like that see when we go into a store and if they treat you good thats what makes us go back more and more if were not treated good we will not go into that store or restaurant but otherwise we love tropical Kingdom 💯👍😀

Walked into this store and it’s disgusting the animals are is terrible conditions, the cages are dirty. Every bird cage, turtle/snake enclosure, and fish tank are so dirty. We didn’t talk to any of the staff we just left it’s not a place where I would give my money to

The tanks for fish are a little on the pricey side but this place literally has everything! Its amazing. Salt and fresh water fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, bunnies, hamsters; heck I even saw a chicken and hedgehog! Literally everything ... Well except dogs and cats but those arent exactly tropical. Hey but theres a good amount of items for them. 😅😂

I used to not like this place.It wasn’t ever the cleanest pet shop and it wasn’t even price competitive with Petsmart and other places.Not sure what happened, but all the sudden their prices are some of the better prices in town now. The employees are always friendly and way more knowledgeable than the generic sales staff at the other chain store pet places.I now think this place is cool.

Loved this shop so much until I had purchased a skink there and she came home with mites. They treated her and we brought her home a few weeks later but she came back a bit aggressive and a few weeks later the infestation was back. I treated her at home and so far we have been mite free. Due to some other issues, Im lead to believe the store has an infestation. The staff is always super friendly and the variety of animals is the best in Tucson.

DO NOT BUY A N Y BIRDS from here. The environment they are given is simply downright INHUMANE, especially for the finches and lovebirds.My family bought several birds for our newly-built aviary and we later realized half of our new friends had featherless patches on their bellies. After a trip to the vet, we learned that one of them had developed severe bumblefoot, while all of them were suffering from malnutrition, as well as the original 2 who were multilating themselves. One of them even had PARASITES.We made a mistake in not searching for real breeders who actually CARE about their birds.Out of all the pet stores in Tucson, yours is the only one that does not give a guarantee on health.

I love tropical kingdom! They have the biggest snakes i have ever seen there! And birds that are for sale are so dang cute along with the bunnys and guinea pigs! And smaller fish as well! And at the front of the store they have a fish tank that has the most awesome shark in it that i have ever seen!!

It is so much better to shop in this small business vs the large big boxes that have nothing but bottom lines of interest. I always buy my neons here. But saturday I bought 8 nerite snails and 18 neons. The lady that was helping scooped up some gravel with the neons and started grabbing the gravel out of the bag.oops caught a fish. She then flicked it back in the bag. She did this about 4 times, then I said Ill take the gravel with me. I brought them home and the snails all have glue on them and their shells are all cracked.so far three dead fish. Not happy at all.

Join the pet club for 25% off any fish not on sale! I dont work for them nor do I get anything from them I just enjoy thier selection and the young ladys passion for the fish there. I bought an Arrowana and I could tell she was understandably concerned as these fish grow rather large and require upwards of 300 gallons. Only reason for 4 rather then 5 stars is because one of the other workers there were a bit unprofessional and kind of rude.

Overall I had a negative experience. Two months ago I talked to a woman who appeared knowledgeable about fish. She said I wouldn’t have any trouble adding a small Pleco to my goldfish pond. It’s a 20 gallon pond forum and has two small ornadas with a heater. She said the Pleco eats algae and that the goldfish should leave it alone. She also said goldfish don’t typically like algae wafers. What she didn’t explain was how dirty Pleco’s are. My pond is now filthy. It’s completely ruined the ecosystem. My black moor got an infection that had to be treated. My orange capped oranda loves the algae wafers so much that he shredded his own fins trying to pry his fat body into the Pleco tube so he could steal them. There has been so much drama from one little bottom feeder. I will be returning it. I wish the woman had been more honest with me. On a positive note they were really nice about taking my donated fish, which I appreciated. The staff was friendly in both instances.

Love this place! Come here not a big b ox store, the staff and owner know so much. They walked through the perfect fish for large tank.

The birds and reptiles were in very poor conditions. Highly overcrowded tanks, empty water dishes EVERYWHERE and feces/shed galore. Couldnt even see the aquatic turtles because the glass and water was so dirty. Baby birds were in a plastic tank in the middle of the floor and not in a suitable substrate. Highly disappointed and will never be returning. To top it all off, employees didnt even acknowledge our presence or seem to care about the animals.

They have great parakeets. The staff is amazing and very helpful. I always enjoy my experience going in to the pet shop.

I really love Tropical Kingdom! Compared to the sterile, factory-like atmospheres of big box pet stores like PetSmart, Petco, and Kahoots, Tropical Kingdom looks, feels, and especially SMELLS like a pet shop should. From my 6 or 7 visits, I get the feeling that the staff really care about their animals as much as their customers. I only have anecdotal evidence to suggest that they rotate which birds are out of their cages throughout the day, leading me to believe that they really care for the health of these animals. Except for the adorable African grey who is always just chilling around the open perch area. Id also like to shout out their modest yet impressive stock of invertebrates, hosting some very interesting species. One worry I do have regards the blue and yellow macaw which I have seen being held in a MUCH TOO SMALL cage. The bird is obviously struggling mentally as it has been compulsively preening, leaving very little feather cover on its body. I would love to see a little bit more consideration given to the big fellow. In addition, certain herps (reptiles) are not given enough space, which is to say some tanks seem overcrowded. I understand there can be lulls in consumer habits that may lead to a buildup of stock, but treating your shops animals with respect will increase consumer interest, and the money lost to giving these animals some more space will quickly be returned by an increase in more customers who want their purchases to support a more considerate supplier.

We recently moved to Tucson and shopped around the big box pet stores, the fish always died. We decided to drive the 20 minutes to tropical kingdom and are so happy we did! Every fish has survived and we just recently bought a chameleon. The staff is knowledgeable and incredibly helpful, never in a rush to make a sale and get you out the door. Thank you TK!!

I always come here for feeder crickets for my Tokay gecko and my leopard gecko, the crickets are always super large and gut loaded! And theyre the cheapest Ive found In tucson. Its always a plus seeing all the new critters and Niko the african grey parrot

Well I had some fish and I was tearing my fish tank down I didnt want to flush the fish down the toilet so I took them to the store and they were nice and said that they were going to see if they were healthy and if so find them good homes

Awesome store! I have gotten a banana ball python and a Brazilian Blue tarantula from this shop amd both are healthy and happy as can be. I come here every other week to get feeder for my family of exotics and the place has never disappointed.Some people complain about the place being clean. Lol, when you own a pet shop with hundreds of animal, the place isnt going to be as sterile as an operating room 24/7. People who think it should be, obviously have never owned pets. ;p 10/10 pet store

The best pet store in Tucson by my opinion, I have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and I shop here weekly.

I used to shop in this store for freshwater fish all the time. But a recent visit definitely shook me up. Its very dirty especially the the freshwater section. The saltwater fish actually look good though! But if youre looking for fish Id say its about the same standards of a Petco or PetSmart in comparison I wouldnt buy fish from here unless you have a hospital tank to quarantine the fish. The plant selection could definitely be better as well. Its not that they dont have a lot of plants they just dont seem to be taken care of. I personally did buy some plants and it took about 2 month and a lot of trimming maintenance and co2 to make it look good again even the simple plants like the java Fern were stressed. You can tell from them producing a lot of plantlets on the leaves. And they look great in my tank now but it was quite a bit of work I wouldnt buy plants from here again either. And dont get me wrong its a great place wonderful staff but the freshwater section needs A LOT of work and cleaning.

My girlfriend got a snake from here last weekend and it was very underfed and not the best shape not only that but the employees told her that it would be fine to house two snakes together and then after some research and speaking to some professionals (after already purchasing the snake) we were informed otherwise, that it was actually very dangerous. It was a good thing we had an extra tank for the little guy so we got his enclosure all set up and made sure he was eating again and my girlfriend decided to call the store . At the time we were on our way home from taking our new pet to the vet to check him out who confirmed the snake had been underfed and probably neglected and confirmed it was a very very bad idea to house the two snakes together and that the risks were too high. Anyway she called to speak to a manager waited on hold for quite a while when the manager finally did answer and my girlfriend started telling him what had happened and how she only wanted to make sure no one else was misinformed or other animals lives not be at risk the manager was very rude and it was very upsetting to hear them treat a customer so terribly who only cared about the animals that she has and the animal she had purchased. I highly do not recommend anyone purchase any animals here as it is apparent that they do not take care of them, when we originally found out we could not house the two together and the risks involved we briefly thought about taking the snake back however after being made aware of its condition decided we could take better care of it since it was obviously being neglected at that store. It is very disappointing not only to hear how that manager treated a customer that was only trying to take care of her animals but also to see such a lack of care for an animal and the lack of desire to do whats best for the animals in their care so from this point on we will never shop at Tropical Kingdom again and well let everyone know how they treat their animals and their customers.

This place is pretty neat. They have a good selection of reptiles and fish and their prices are pretty average for the market, maybe a bit higher than purchasing online. My only real complaint is the cleanliness. Being as it is a pet store, it is obviously harder to keep clean than other stores, but the urine smell (presumably from the rodents) is awful, especially near the back of the store. Its not enough to keep us from going (because its the closest store that has some of the items we need), but I really wish they would address the odor better.

I’m a fish breeder and the fish conditions are simply awful due to unhealthy water conditions. What’s worse is I’ve read the store reply comments from bad reviews and they consistently deny any possible wrong doing which is just bad business. I know they’ll lecture me too. Don’t interact with the unattended grey parrot - the staff is watching you. I also was shadowed (followed) by employees who apparently are terrible judges of character. I’m an animal activist.
