Nice people, well stocked clean store. Purchased some marinated chicken. The meat was good but lacked flavor.

Awesome place! Great place to find lots of snacks, tortillas, local foods, anything you can think of! Staff is extremely kind, helpful, and they take their time to make sure youre all set!Food is delicious and Im definitely going to be coming back!

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! Absolutely horrible customer service!!!!!! My wife and daughter go here regularly and get the chicken tacos. Tonight they were all made with dark meat and tasted horrible! I took the order back immediately and showed them the dark meat in the tacos and they still argued with me that they ONLY use breast meat like advertised. They said I could get a store credit and then argued with me that they won’t when I got to the register!

I buy meat here sometimes. Staff is very direct and mean sometimes. Everything is expensive also.

Will never ever get anything from here again and I advise others to avoid this place like the plague. We went and bought some meat, beans, pico, and guac for a birthday party. Something from that place made us all sick. We fed several people and we are ALL sick. The meat was cooked thoroughly, and everything was refrigerated until it was time to cook. I know for a fact this is not our own doing. Will never return to this place. So gross.

I always go here to get the tortilla chips, flour tortillas, the Mexican soda, and their marinated beef chicken the chicken breast and chicken thighs are really good. Also on the weekends Ill get Menudo and they also have posole throughout the week.

This place is amazing . The staff is always friendly and willing to help and even offer suggestions. The meat is priced right and they even have a small selection of fresh fruits/vegetables. They sell tortillas, corn chips all the mexican candies and some ice cream. Truly an amazing store that I would recommend to everyone.

This place is very busy, but very fast getting you in and out! They also have a little kitchen that you can order food to go. And of course, they have a great selection of meat and meat packages that you can buy. Its a little hole in the wall type of place, but you should stop in, you just may be surprised and walk out of there with some great meats, tortillas and/or Mexican candy 🥰

Excellent place!!! Fantastic selection of meats. Always fresh, and their marinated meats are amazing! The chorizo is excellent, as is the guacamole and salsa made in the store. I have to make a weekly trip for my carne seca. And the staff are the friendliest people ever. They treat you like family! The only carneceria I go to!

This is our go-to place for carne asada, fresh meats for grilling are delicious, the tortillas are fantastic as well. Everything is delicious here. Oh, and the staff are very pleasant.

We love this place for their selection of meats and other items. One downfall...We would have breakfast burritos every weekend but the last 3 times the burritos have been horrible! They use to be toasted on the out side and the flavor was great but now the tortilla looks and feels under done and the tortillas dripped with grease. The paper and the bag it was wrapped in was super greasy. We tried to support them but things changed and we will not be getting breakfast from them again.

Ive been in here a bunch of times. Nice little Mexican market. The prices are good on everything. Good homemade salsa. Very good green Tamales. The Menudo blanco needs a little work. The broth tasted watered-down and the hominy is sometimes a little on the tough side. Also the marinaded chicken was pretty bland, but a good selection on just about everything.

Great corner store with excellent hospitality. Very nice selection of fresh meat that is butchered in house so the selection ofter changes. Some of the best priced meat at times 3 times less expensive than grocery chains. Almost didnt post because I wanted to keep this place to myself.

I was so tired after cleaning a house. So I Went to this place so I didnt have to cook i ask for a gallon of white menudo bread and sonora dog. Got home it was red menudo. Called told them about my problem. They put me on hold for 5 minutes so I just hung up. From now on i will go too toros on houghton and Irvinton. Waste of $25

The lemon pepper marinated paleta was extremely salty during my last purchase, during the week of 8/17/20. I called to advise and was told, ok thank you. I would purchase meat weekly but wont be doing so after the clerk handled my phone call so poorly.

Overpriced well worth the time to drive down aviation and hit the south side for anything period this place is making a killing of people charging close to 5 dollars for a dozen don juans tortilla- good that they cook your food for you but it’s overpriced so that’s the least they can do I recommend going down 6th on the south and hitting any other carnicería but for the East side it’s decent I guess

First time here and I will definitely be coming back. I usually go to other carnicerias but thought I would give this one a try and was not disappointed. Great selection but what really made the experience was the great people working there. Everyone was so kind and polite to myself and my 16 month old daughter. Give it a try and I promise you will like it!

I see similar comments on the prices and how they change. A dozen tortillas are $4.99 a pack, let that sink in! This is over almost 2 times what they pay for them. They never have any prices on their counter products, and the charge is different every time. I go to Nogales once a month to Mario Villa’s market and pay less than half there for the same things. Tortillas that are 1.79 a dozen there are 4.99 at el Novillo. It’s really sad how abusive they’re with their customers. Impact them where it hurts their greedy ness and stop going to their store. They deserve it, and we deserve fair prices!

I love the ladies here. They take good care of me. I highly recommend the number 3 combo. 2 tacos and rice and beans for $4.99.

I love this place. This is my go-to place for a chorizo breakfast burrito with cheese. Their salsas are great. They carry Oaxaca cheese which I love and their tortillas are wonderful.

Its always been great since they open and our neighborhood needed this, but today, we were shorted what we paid for and when we went back in, someone else was in there yelling about the cashier stealing cash back! Really? Great opportunity getting trashed. And I dont know what this chamotion is going on out here now in the parking lot.

This place is fantastic, live bout a mile from this place an come here quite a bit. Excellent chicken, beef and tamales. Man outside on weekends will grill it up for ya.

I will never go here again. I asked the kid behind the meat case for a tub of sour cream. He walked over with blood all over his hands and grabbed it and gave it to me. It was smeared with raw chorizo. I politely asked for a paper towel to wipe it off. He was snappy and said let me see it. Put it back in the show case grabbed another one, smearing it with raw chorizo and said here you go boss. If he’s smearing raw blood all over things in front of customers what is happening behind our backs. It’s a shame. I really used to enjoy spending my money here. But never again

The best Mexican food you can get already marinated and ready too be cooked or get it cooked right there while you wait, from there kitchen..or off there grill out side on the weekend only, either way there the best..👍👍

On the weekends they have a barbeque attached to the side of the building with a guy who will cook your freshly purchased meat on a mesquite grill. Good stuff

Went in today for the first time and tried a couple carne asada tacos. Wow! they were absolutely tasty and flavorful. Picked up a couple bags of chilis and was impressed how friendly the staff is, the cleanliness of the store and the prices were very reasonable.

One of the best spots in town. Really doesnt get much better. All the choices for the combo plates are amazing. Their fresh flour tortillas cant be beat and the service is always top knotch. They really care about the food they are serving you as a customer and I have yet to order something that I didnt think was amazing. Go there on a Saturday or Sunday and buy a huge cut of whatever meat you are craving. Then have them throw it on the grill and cook it to perfection for ya. I live about a half mile down the street and can smell them grilling all the way at my house. All in all if you are looking for a great place to eat tacos or an authentic butcher shop this is the spot on the East Side. Nothing but good things to say about El Novillo.
