Great materials and helpful staff. Bought a couple of boulders and needed someone to deliver and place them- they provided me with contact to a great man named Jerry Spencer who I hired. He promptly got the boulders and used some amazing equipment to place them perfectly. Thanks to Acme for your products and your referral to a trustworthy professional. Highly recommend this business and their referrals.

I ordered 30 tons of chat (fine gravel) from Acme Sand & Gravel, to be delivered in my driveway. They damaged a few square feet of a path I had just put in and refused to fix it. I made some mistakes and ignorance is no excuse, if you ask the owner.A month earlier, I had extended my concrete pathway to the sidewalk and covered it in tile. The first driver came out to discuss details. He helped me lay the tarp down and asked if he could drive on it. He did not warn me how anomalous his behavior was for the company and that the next driver would likely just see it, back up onto it, and dump. That is, according to the companys owner, standard operating procedure and I should have known. When the first driver and I laid down the tarp, its edge covered our pathway. He did not seem to think it was worth mentioning that the next driver would assume this meant it was OK to drive on, and never even came close to it while depositing gravel. The second driver, not interested in conversation, pulled up, turned around, and backed up right onto it. Just before, as I saw where he was going, I signaled and shouted to the driver to stop, but he did not hear me before I heard the heart-wrenching crunch of his back tire over the end of the path. He got out, saw the damage, and told me that, while it wasnt necessarily my fault, it certainly wasnt his. I shouldve hollered louder. In his defense, the edge of the tarp was over the pathway and he did not notice it. On my part, I should have clearly marked where I did and did not want the trucks to go. I should not have assumed either driver would attempt to communicate with me at all, even if the first one did.We called their office and spoke to the owner about it. He used the word unacceptable and offered us some free concrete or to refund 1 or 2 out of the 30 tons wed paid for. He also said he would come out and see for himself. I naively thought this a good sign, that he would try to make things right. I realized after the fact that he was just there to get evidence in case we litigate. He made the same offer of a little concrete or a refund on 1 or 2 tons. I said I still had the materials to rebuild the few square feet of damaged pathway, including concrete. He offered me some concrete.I finally asked if he would at least help me fix it by tearing out the few feet of concrete and tile so I could redo it myself. It was a horrible compromise, but I thought it was better than nothing. He agreed, reluctantly, to have someone come out in a week or two. This was not a priority. The next day, I went to their office to try and salvage a slightly better deal. If I supplied all the materials, would he have someone fix it? The answer was no. I asked what it would cost, in labor alone, to fix it, and he estimated $100. He was willing to go out on a limb and refund two tons, or $65; this is the same offer he made before talking to his drivers or seeing the damage. By his reckoning, he saved himself $35 and a few minutes of his time by refusing to accept responsibility or fix anything. If the tarp hadnt been there, he claims, he would happily fix it himself. I doubt it, since his version of making things right never changed the least bit between the first phone call, when he had almost no information, and the last conversation, when he had practically all of it. Importantly, I signed a form releasing them of liability ahead of time. On paper, its not their fault. The gravel was fine, even if they do weigh and deliver it sopping wet.If you decide to order from Acme Sand & Gravel, please take every precaution. Use traffic cones and other signage to direct drivers. Dont sign anything you dont agree to 100% or dont get a copy of first. Record the delivery. If it seems paranoid, do it. If anything happens, they will absolutely avoid taking any responsibility. Or just buy elsewhere.

Very specific instructions......Deliver WEST of the driveway. These guys dumped 21 tons dead center on the driveway. When I called to speak to them on this, (even after I called them this morning to notify me of delivery), they offered no recourse....only to “recommend” someone for me to hire and go move the rock.Never again doing business here.

Honest, quick, efficient, and friendly. Good prices, locally-sourced products. Delivered same day and on-time. Their loader made a mistake but they admitted to it and made it right. In 20 years of construction, this is the first rock company Ive ever seen admit that they made a mistake. They worked with me to ensure I got the rock I was looking for and made sure I was happy. Ill use them for every rock I need in Tucson.

Great inventory, reasonable prices, friendly service. I selected enough flagstone pieces to launch a new product line for us, nearly 300 pounds of selected pieces, paid around 50 bucks, and will continue to supply there. Cannot possibly afford to drive to the quarry to beat those prices, even for production of our crafts. Thanks, guys and gals......Joe

Called for pricing. Had a MUCH better experience than I did compared to calling in to Arizona Trucking & Materials(see my review under them). They patiently gave me the info I needed and even pointed me to their website so I could see the pricing breakdowns on delivery fees. Way to go ACME! Keep up the great customer service!

I Discovered a fraudulent charge to my checking account to Acme sand & gravel and received an emailed receipt from this company as well.when i went into the business to speak with them about this they acknowledged that the purchase was not made by me and laughed in my face and said take it up with my bank.the issue has been turned over to the proper authorities and is under investigation.my question is why are they accepting credit/debit cards without a valid I.D.? And why would they find this situation humerus? This organization in my opinion has NO CUSTOMER practices and I will never give a positive review or referral. If require any product that Acme sand & gravel sells I would advise you to seek others vendors, cause you may get cleaned out.

I went in this morning to order several tons of decorative rock. I was sent there by my landscaper. The only person there was on the phone and I and another person were waiting. The clerk had obviously made a personal call while no one was in the store. It went on and on and by now a third customer walked in. She basically ignored us until our stares moved her to offer to call back. Then she rudely moved on to serving us. When it came my turn I showed her a sample of the rock that I have spread over a quarter of an acre. She said curtly we dont have that rock and Ive never seen it before. I asked if she could direct me to other rock suppliers that might have the same shade I needed. She said I dont know. I asked politely if she knew the name of her main competitors. She again said I dont know. Essentially she said by facial expression, behavior and actions - beat it we dont need your business. Problem solved, I wont be trading here in the future.

I buy supersacks of materials there all the time. Are the prices the best? I dont know because it seems they are the only materials suppliers that will fill supersacks - so they got me by the balls. They are friendly and prompt, so no compalints there. My issue is that every time I pay the $10 service fee to fill my supersack with 1 ton of material, I just have a bad taste in my mouth. On a $41 supersack full of ideal mix, thats 25% of the cost! Filling a supersack consists of: 1. Take the loader and put a scoop of material in the stand up supersack filler thingy. 2. Use the quick change on the loader to switch to forklift forks and hold the supersack under the supersack filler. 3. Open the lever.EDIT: Owner responded, which I think is professional and up-front. Revising my review to reduce editorial content.
