I needed to have some large items transported at the last minute- So I went online to check out several rental businesses & decided on the U-Haul on Sklyand Blvd in Tuscaloosa, I’m SO GLAD that I chose them!! They provided me with EXCELLENT Customer Service!!. The staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable! The facility was clean!! & my overall experience was Great!! I observed some staff members inspecting vehicles for cleanliness, etc. The entire process was smooth and quick!!pick up & drop off was a breeze! And let’s not forget the price-! EVERYTHING IS VERY AFFORDABLE!I highly recommend U-Haul on Skyland Blvd. in Tuscaloosa, Al. Not in do they have the right vehicle truck, van, trailer, etc but They-also have lots of packaging stuff- like boxes, tapes, tarps, etc.at great prices too!! When in need, check em out!!
If I could give this location a zero I would. I reserved a truck for a week(wasn’t gonna use the full week/only needed it for a few days)and when I got there the said I could only rent it for 24hrs. I even asked if i could rent it for couple of days and they said no. I couldn’t even rent the other vehicles for more than 24hrs. I don’t understand this policy because people are traveling to different states/cities to move things and to only be able to access it for just 24hrs doesn’t make sense. I made the reservation in a advance I wish they would’ve called me a lot sooner to tell I could only rent for a 24hrs. Instead I had to find out the day I came to pick it up. This location is super unorganized.
Was in 2 weeks ago to have wire check out on my truck( a different uhaul location in stalled it) the guy that works in the garage was sitting at a desk playing on his phone! Told me to come back next day!! Nothing was in the garage be worked on! My steering pump went out so I couldn’t go back! And no one ever answer the phone there! Showed up today July 5th @1 pm as told come back in 30 minutes someone is at lunch he will look at it then! Came back at 1:30 like I was asked was told they are working on this one that was here!! A hour in a haft still sitting here no one has said one word to me!! Nothing not hey this is taking longer can we schedule it for tomorrow or the next day nothing just still waiting!!!!
All-in-all your average Uhaul store. 2 stars due to misinformation. I returned the truck to the exact location I found it. 3-400 from where I was supposed to return in. (My fault). When I told the salesperson at the front desk where the truck was parked he told me Dont worry about it, Ill grab it.2 days later I received a $17.00 charge for returning the truck to the incorrect location. It would have taken less than 5 minutes for me to return it correctly. Instead of being informed about this potential charge, It was implied that it wouldnt be a big deal.Anyone reading this, make sure you follow your rental contract to the letter, because customer service and general etiquette are quite unfortunately, not a priority here.I will not return.
The manager and staff were extremely helpful in finding me a truck to rent. Everything was done fast when it was picked up and there were no issues. Would definitely use them again.
There were two African Americans guys at the front desk, one texting on the phone while I was talking to him and the other one worthless as well. I had never seen so unprofessional, so poor trained, totally don’t care about customer needs. Please do not come to this location, these two guys are worthless.
Reserved a truck and was not informed that truck was not available until the day of pick-up. Had to drive two hours out of the way to get another truck.

THEY ARE SO INEFFICIENT, I SAW OTIS NOT CHARGE 2 CUSTOMERS WHO CAME IN WHILE WERE WAITING ON HOLD WTH 1-800-GOUHAUL. THEY DONT MAINTAIN THEIR EQUIPMENT OR KEEP THE STORE CLEAN. THE WEBSITE HAS BEEN TERRIBLE AND THE SERVICE HAS BEEN AWFUL. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RENT A TRUCK TWICE NOW AND IT IS THE WORST MANAGED STORE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. AVOID UHAUL AND ESPECIALLY THIS STORE.
The manager was unable to help me with a moving materials purchase I made online and was supposed to be able to pick up in store. Frustrated, I left the store and now am out the cost for materials and have none of them. It was a very frustrating experience from beginning to end.
It’s 3/4 2:15 pmJust got off the phone with a young lady and not only was she rude but she told me it cost $20 PER MILE to rent a pick up!!! That means for me to go to fayette and back, it’ll be like $1,000 dollars. WTH?!
Was in a hurry needed a hitch for my vehicle, was super helpful and prompt. Love the online pictures and thank you for helping me with getting back on the road again. Sorry Im a little late it was about a month ago and I just got around to leaving feed back but definitely five stars all the way. Thanks again God bless...

We reserved a storage unit online that was supposed to be held for today. We just arrived at the center with a fully loaded car and were told that, even though they had the reservation, they didnt actually hold the unit and were overbooked. They also told us this happens all the time.
Staff was very busy but Ken made time to help me and my girlfriend hook up a trailer and test our electronics for it. Only took a little under two hours, great service and a really reasonable price for all that was done for us.
This place is HORRIBLE! DO NOT RENT HERE! My fiance and I got a truck at 9:30 AM, left and loaded the truck up, stopped by a good will station out of town and the truck broke down! We was waiting for 9 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kept getting put on hold and dealing with a call center all the way out in Arizona!!! This is ALABAMA not ARIZONA!!!! Didnt get back until 12AM the next morning! Had to get a tow truck all the way out in Mississippi just to service us! We couldnt even take our items to the storage unit because it was closed by then! Now we have to find another truck rental company to move all of our stuff!! I wish I could rate them 0 stars but at least they didnt charge us for the truck! Never renting Uhaul again!
My day started At 9:30 at Uhaul. I got to my appointment 30 minutes early to give plenty of time for a 90 minute install. I had to call and get someone at 1:30 to pick me up after the installation couldnt be completed in time and had to get another ride back to your establishment. During the install a bracket was removed that was not part of the written instructions. Three factory bolts were removed from that bracket and only one was reinstalled. I picked the bolts up off the floor. The manager Mr. Hall ended up giving me $50 off the price but, made sure the shop got the full install money thus rewarding themselves for a job poorly done. He accused me of raising my voice and I apologized telling him I am hard or hearing and wear hearing aids showing him one. He then stated he was done talking with me and tried to charge me for priority shipping when another clerk had removed the shipping because of late delivery. I informed him of that and he decided hed best call his employee at home to verify. So, more time waiting... I am very unhappy with your operation. It took an hour and a half to finally settle with Mr. Hall and get out the door with him going into his office and refusing to come out after it had been finished and was waiting on me to pick it up... Finally, at the end of the transaction I thanked him and stretched out my hand and he refused to shake it. Mr. Hall has a chip on his shoulder that needs to be challenged. I remain unhappy with your service. In the past I have rented storage space for 6 months, rented vehicles to move but that business will go elsewhere. I will be needing storage again but another company that can do the job correctly, that doesnt have an attitude that they were doing me a favor by poor quality work...that other company will get my business. Complained to President -- NO REPLY. THESE PEOPLE DONT CARE.

Was quoted a hitch with wiring and when installed was more than quoted and when the home office tried to call them about the price difference the manager would not answer the phone ..... pitiful customer service never again will I do business with them nor refer anybody to them also have been waiting since Tuesday for the home office to call me back NEVER AGAIN .....DO NOT COME HERE
Reserved a truck online to pick up at a different local location. On the way to the original site, we checked the order online and noticed that the pickup location had changed to the Skyland location. No big deal... Less than five minutes away. The folks here were very helpful and accommodating They even offered suggestions to adjust our original reservation which saved us money. In and out in under ten minutes... And returning was just as easy. Will definitely use them again.
In 2017, I was impressed with this location. Now, in 2020, I’m disappointed and will probably stop using the location as my primary. The location is habitually understaffed or poorly staffed. Waiting in line 25 minutes just to reach the counter nullifies any need for an “Express Checkin.”
In my opinion Uhaul is a rip off because if you dont pay your storage fee on due date you will get charged a $15 late fee a day later. Uhaul dont even allow a grace period and they be trying to get every dime. Tony did work with me to get a issue resolved on one occasion but they still can do better as far as working with their customers and allow at least a 5 day grace period b4 a late fee is accessed.
So i reserved a pickup truck, and when i got there, was told by this rude woman that it wasnt a truck rental but a van rental. When i told her that was not the case, she was very rude. I finally settled for a van, then when i ran my card was told they only accepted cards with chips. Kept me waiting 30 minutes with no end result. The woman (i think her name was tammy) was rude, condescending, and was cursing in front of me. She was older, grey long hair, heavy set. The young man at the counter was very helpful even though this woman was making it difficult. Whoever thought hiring her was a good idea is an idiot.
The absolute worst customer service. I was calling to get quotes and Mary kept trying to get my credit card and rushing me. When I stated for the 3rd time I was just calling for quotes she said, “Thank you for calling I hope you have a great day” and tried to hang up. So I stated again I just needed quotes and I wasn’t done and she seemed very bothered. I work in customer service and Mary was very unprofessional and rude and definitely could use more training.
I had the most 2 pleasant workers to wait on me this morning that I had to do a review. Thank you so much Taj and Ray for being so professional and Courteous to me as a walk in customer and I will be doing business here again. I truly Thank you both and your kindness is appreciated!!!!
This place has the worse customer service Ive ever seen! Everytime I come here and I come every month to pay on my storage it takes atleast 30-45 min!! They ignore u and work on cars while u are standing in the store! Its every time! I will be taking my stuff somewhere else ASAP! This place is ridiculous!
They discovered my bumper was only for stepping up on and it wasnt attached nor strong enough to pull a sm. camper much less one of any size. They helped me with wire the braking system and did a great job and were very friendly and helpful. They helped me find the best rate to go out of state and back. I will be using them again on Easter weekend as well.
Rented from them twice, both times they didnt have what we reserved. Now they are telling me the closest place to pick up what we reserved is 45 minutes away. They were not helpful at all. Hopefully the trailer hitch we got installed by them doesnt break on our trip. I will never use U-got to get something else again. They made sure to tell me this isnt their fault and horrible planning its everyone else fault because people are moving out of Tuscaloosa and not in. I will take my money elsewhere and spend more money just so I dont have to deal with this company again. At the end of the conversation I was told You can either get it or not They DO NOT CARE about your business.
This is the most ridiculous experiwnce i have ever encountered. Had to park on street when returning u haul and not only that you remt a $19.95 a day rental. I have the rental for 5 hours and they charge 99 vents a mile on top of that. Highway robbery. I will never rent from u haul ever again. Cost for 5 hours. $191.74 OUTRAGEOUS. NEVER AGAIN. I hope no one will ever rent from this place.
My Husband an i rented with them this Past Saturday, the wait process was average. Paperwork process was easy. My husband reserved a 15 Truck a day ahead of time so they did have it ready. The truck was suppose to be able to hold a 2bdrm apartment but held at least 70% if we had more time we could have crammed everything in it but since we was on a short time frame we jus got what we could. We only had the Uhaul 9hrs an it was $160 something way more than i expected especially being in the moving process. Uhaul was clean. Everything was set up professionally.
They told me they were giving me a 400 mile allowance and would receive my deposit back for a move from Mississippi picking up an rv trailer. They ended up charging 186 extra and demanded I return it before noon the next day despite previously telling me not to worry about it.
Reserved a truck 1 month ahead of time, got there at scheduled pick up time and no truck was available. Said they would call when they had one. 5 hours went by no call. Finally had to go in and get another truck, which I have to return tomorrow. I had a reservation for a truck for 5 days. Now I have to find a place to unload all of my stuff and keep it dry and safe for 5 days because they ruined my reservation. So frustrating, manager was of no help and kept telling me theres nothing I can do. Will NEVER be using uhaul again. Horrible customer service.
Not sure where the negative comments came from for this U-Haul location but we had a fantastic experience with these folks. Our vehicle had broke down late Thursday night on the interstate and we had no luck at the rental car company getting a vehicle. We walked to the Uhaul store and everyone there was extremely helpful and very nice to us. We were in and out of the store with a great cargo van that had less than 15000 miles on it. Cold Ac, the works. It even got great gas mileage!! Were EXTREMELY happy with our experience there and will be using this UHaul store again. Thanks to all the folks who work at this store!! You saved us a ton of headaches!! Much Appreciated!!
Was returning a cargo trailer and the employee wouldnt even help show where to put the trailer or help unhook the trailer. They didnt even give me a receipt showing that I returned the trailer.
I posted two stars only because of positive experiences with other U-Haul locations but this one at Tuscaloosa was quite negative. We booked and paid ahead online for a simple hitch (no wiring). Because we were driving an hour to this location, we called the day before and asked how long the installation would take. Having been told only 30 minutes, we took only the one car and planned to wait. When we got there, the order was wrong, the installer not there and were told it would be 3 hours before the installation could be done We cancelled and asked for a refund but were told the charge had not been put on our card (it had and it will take 3-5 business days to be credited back). When I tried to voice my complaint through customer service I got cut off after nearly 20 minutes of telling my story (I think they just hung up because they didnt want to be bothered). Try #2 went better and I was told the manager would call me. Its been 3 business days, no call. Well find a better option.
So I️ rented a uhaul on 12/16/18 for the amount of 61.55 and sum change plus 17 dollars for couch covers we got to cover furniture I️ look on my americas first acc today and they have withdrawed more money 42.55 on 12/29 /18 when I’ve already paid the full amount ....I️ will be calling cooperate first thing in the morning to report this.
Reserved a truck at 11:00 got there and our truck wasnt there and no other ones were available. We left called and asked if we could get a bigger truck which they assured us was in the lot, got there and they said they couldnt find it.
2.5 years as a Moving Helper with Uhaul this Uhaul by far is one of the best I have done business with! Front office staff early morning were respectful and acted like they cared about their job!Previous comments in here I have chalked it up to people lying or wanting something for free! General Manager was outside checking trucks in! This showed me this place has a team oriented mentality! Will use again for our move down to Florida! Thank You Skyland Uhaul!
These are the rudest most unprofessional people I have ever encountered. I have been in the Customer Service industry over 20 years and have never met anyone so rude and smart alecky. I called in for a price quote on an standard 8 pickup truck and was told the price if using a credit card. In most rental companies credit cards are not the only form of payments accepted. I asked the representative what other forms of payments would be accepted and I was told Well you cant get a pick up truck because you have to have a credit card in a rude and snotty way. There was no misunderstanding about the tone and inflections in this young ladys voice. Their employees definitely need more training because their customer service skills are horrible. U HAUL WILL NEVER get my business.
We rented there on 9/24/2013 and had a simply horrific experience. The first truck we took out stalled out several times on the Lurleen Bridge and we returned it (they later said there was nothing wrong with it). The second truck had a faulty fuel gage which did not move when fueling it with over 10 gallons of gas. The owner was completely unwilling to admit anything was wrong with the truck, even though the evidence was staring him in the face. Moreover, both trucks wreaked of marijuana. Dont waste your time with these clowns and their poor equipment.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!! They completely screwed me over.. Called on Monday to the TUSCALOOSA store to set up reservation... Got there and there wasnt anything available. Sent me all the way to McAlla saying that was the closest trailer available.. They were EXTREMELY rude and so unhelpful!!! Save your time and go somewhere else!!!

This location is awful. When I first get there no one offered to help me till they finished an entire conversation about the weekned schedules. Then I asked about a Uhaul and storage, which they proceeded to tell me was unavailable. I said OK because it was a couple weeks before school started. I went online to find another one and guess which location popped up as having one avaliable? Yep this one. Long story short.. the items I reserved online with the truck were not avaliable (thank God for football playing brothers), they were even ruder the second visit, and they tried to charge me a 2nd day on a truck that was returned an hour early because they didnt look for the truck in their lot.
My husband has spent all day broken down on the side of the road in one of your trucks! The truck didnt even make it to our house! He took off work today so we could move and now the day is almost over! I cannot get anyone from customer service on the phone! He waited on hold for half an hour just to tell someone he was broken down then he waited another two hours for roadside assistance and now he is waiting on the side of the road for them to fix the truck. The day is almost over and now we cant move. We close on our house in a few days and today was the only day we could move and my husband wasted his off day. U Haul has screwed us royally. I will never do business with this company again!
