I am never one to make a negative Yelp review since I know it can be detrimental to a store and its employees, but Ill make an exception.Firstly, they have no Optometrist/Optician.Secondly, go ahead and try calling the store. I called every day for a week and a half. The phone just rang with no answering machine or information. I stayed on the phone for 10 minutes while I got ready in the morning, hoping that somebody would get annoyed with the sound of a phone ringing and pick up, but no-- it seems that they had more tolerance than I did at Meijer Optical. Finally, I called Meijer CORPORATE, who was able to get a customer service person to walk over and make somebody answer the phone. I talked to a very polite and helpful woman (whoever this was-- you are probably swamped there and this isnt your fault, but there has to be more than ONE employee at your shop.) and said I would come in to make the order for some contacts, which they said they had the paperwork ready for. I dont have a car, so it took me about a week to find a friend who could drive me down there. When I came in, at about 5PM (the shop closes at 7PM), the optical shop was closed with a handwritten sign, Closed for family emergency, dated 4:15 PM. I understand family emergencies happen and while I sincerely hope everybody involved is alright, I feel at the same time that there has to be more than ONE employee at an optical shop. Is there a reason nobody else could be called in?While I was standing in front of the closed shop, I called up Illini Eye Care. I recommend you do too.
