Came here as part of a short pub crawl with my wife and a friend, knowing nothing about it, including even its existence. However, upon walk-in, I was immediately impressed with the sheer number of beers, ciders and wines available, in bottle or can form, as well as from the tap.I abstained from drinking at this particular location, having already had a cider at the last place, and I just cant stomach that much liquid back to back: give me an Old Fashioned or similar cocktail, and I can keep up with the best of them; anything else is too heavy. Im not much of a beer, wine or cider guy, anyway. My wife and our friend had no such compunctions. They ordered at the bar; unfortunately, the one wine my wife wanted was not available in a glass, for some reason, so she ordered another instead.We sat out on the patio, which had firepits that remained unlit, despite it being pretty dark out, but the streetlights were enough to keep things reasonably lit. Would have been a nice touch though, considering how quickly the temperature plummeted.With places like this, carrying such a vast variety of beverages, its irrelevant to judge the establishment based on any particular one. You dont like it? Pick another one...theres literally dozens of alternatives. Where places like Tap Union stand out are the three Ss: service, selection, seating. On all three, they shine; the upstairs common area is reminiscent of a smoking room in a murder mystery mansion; the patio (when lit) is spacious and ventilated, if a bit spartan; and the aforementioned selection is robust and varied.This is the kind of place I would show off to own-of-town beer and cider aficionados. As for myself, the next time through, Ill make Tap Union a first stop, running on empty and ready to fuel up without topping off the tank.

I didnt even know that this place existed until we happened upon it during a downtown pub crawl. You gotta check them out! Great drinks, and an awesome outside patio area with fireplaces and pop up tents. Stay warm and dry while enjoying a cold beer.

Large selection on tap, So I havent even looked at the bottle cases. Limited menu, but what they do, they do well: sandwiches are super tasty. Nice outside patio, almost entirely covered. No inside seating that I know of.

Best sandwiches in downtown Vancouver and a super chill spot to hangout. The atmosphere of this place alone makes it actually want to go out to eat. Cant speak much to the alcohol scene.

Tap union is a great place. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, prompt beer service. Love the rotating taps and endless selection of canned beer to go. However, food is subpar and takes forever to cook. Expensive for what they have to offer. But, service and drinks outweigh the food so 5 stars overall.

We had such a wonderful experience Tap Union Freehouse. The staff are friendly and provided us great suggestions from their wide array of beer selections. The food was also amazing and complements to the chef. My wife said the Cuban sandwich was the best she has had in the NW and that means a lot since she is from Florida. We will definitely be back!

Great tap house and more! They also have wine, ciders and every now and then hard seltzers on tap. They also have bottles of wine and beer to go. Their sandwiches are delicious. Especially the Italian Grinder: absolutely a must try!

Places like this belong in Vancouver. Great beer selection, easy place to have a conversation with a friend, mellow music and friendly staff. Oh and their sandwiches aren’t too bad either ;)

Love this place. Always chill. On colder nights they have a fire on the patio. Before covid the upstairs was my favorite place to go. Great selection of beer for everyone.

Very interesting bar! Located in downtown Vancouver and has a good collection of beers! When it is not too hot outside, Id recommend sittint outside and enjoy some fresh air after hard work! Inside of the bar (has two stories) is also very interesting. It gives a nice and cozy feeling!

This place sustained us with fresh and tasty tacos this past year. I never get tired of ordering the smoky pork or tofu tacos. The smoky spicy verde sauce they make is delicious and if I ever have a left over container I add to my salad dressing at home to spice it up!

Amazing assortment of beer and when it was 114 degrees,like the hottest its ever been, food was great and staff was friendly. The union Ruben was best Ive had in a while. Will definitely stop again on a trip to Seattle

Ate here w my daughter niece & bro in law Stopped in to have a beer grab a quick bite ordered the grapefruit cider and three different sandwiches Wow took a while for food but omG so dang good ! The grilled cheese and the Curbano (or something like that ) are so good we were craving them the next day. It was packed the nt we were there (covid places just beginning to open up) Its definitely worth the wait & the cider was so good went perfect w our sandwiches !

Friendly staff, great tap and beer fridge selection, as well as ample indoor and out door seating. Ordered one of everything on the menu, meat eaters were happy, vegetarians were satisfied. Would come again.

Aside from the great beer on tap and the home of my favorite cubano, the best part about Tap Union is the bottle shop. I can always find something Ive never tried or some of my old favorites. The staff is always friendly and between their patio space and their lovely dining area upstairs, there is always a place to sit that gives you space from other visitors. I recommend going in, grabbing a beer (or a few) and sandwich, and then picking up a few bottles for when you get home!

A beer nerd paradise! The food is good, but not great, which is okay, because this place is all about the taps.

One of my favs in the Couve. Food is exceptional, drink selection is awesome and service is always amazing.

Ordered a Reuben, got there and they had mistakenly made two. “I’ll pay for both, no worries” (I love the damned sandwich) Counterperson: “No you won’t.” And gives me both for price of one. Its these things that separate this place from others. That counterperson was also the owner. Cheers 🍻

These guys are amazing! Tap Union Freehouse is certainly a hidden gem in the Vancouver area. A great location (nice upstairs decor and patio) with an incredible selection of beers to pair with delicious sandwiches, and exceptional customer services. Definitely check this hotspot out.

Walking down the road and saw their sign. Went in and had beer. They were very knowledgeable about the beer and they had a good selection. The bar was lit with natural light and was inviting. There was upstairs seating and outside seating. Dogs are allowed outside and the price was good for a pint. I had a good nitro English ale. Could have stayed all day but was just passing through.

I love this place. Its always nice. The food is awesome! Different beers every day it seems. Friendly enough staff, friendly patrons. It gets pretty busy on Friday and Saturday, but still great food and service. Always open late!!

This place is cozy and low-key. They have a bajillion beers and ciders and wines, and a small sandwich menu. The bartender was polite. Im gluten intolerant so I had the tacos and they were delicious! Fair warning though, the habanero sauce is a liquid existential crisis. Delicious, but youll be sweating.

Wow. Just wow. I am BLOWN AWAY! Might I suggest the deviled eggs? You Dont want to miss out on that opprotunity. The sandwiches are mighty impressive. I was passing thru, but I was considering staying a few days just to try more items from their menu. Lots and lots of drinks to choose from. It would be pretty difficult to be dissatisfied by this establishment. The peeps behind the bar were super friendly too. The porch is puppy friendly, and there was a unique steel propane heater on the patio to keep you cozy.

Very cozy bar where you can drink beer and play games. Their outdoor seating is casual and comfy, great for a hot day seeing as they have umbrellas! They let you sample their draft beers, which is great since I just went for it and ended up not liking the beer so I suggest taking them up on their sample offer! They also have a cooler to the side through a good selection more of beers in bottles and cans. They also had a wine selection. I will deff be going back!

Upstairs seating is very comfortable. Staff was very nice. If youre get the cubano, get a side of the green salsa and slather it on.

Great brewpub with an amazing selection of beers & ales from all around the Northwest & Europe, with both indoor & outdoor patio seating. Also, bottles & cans to go from their bottle shop. Just an all-around great space. Looking forward to their future expansion into the adjacent space, taking over the whole historic Luepke Station building.

Only been here a couple of times, but its at the top of my short list of pubs in Vancouver. One of my brothers top hangouts, (which is how I got there), pretty much since they opened. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, very popular with locals.Given the COVID-19 situation, the interior is a bit sparse for seating, but the bar is just fine! They specialize in local brews, but range far and wide from there. Extensive and widely varying - both origin and brew type - tap list, frequently updated. Many more selections in the cooler. A smaller but carefully selected variety of wines as well.The kitchen is real, not just a microwave. Long list of scratch made sandwiches. I didnt get past the turkey-bacon... Other food selections also available.Of particular note currently is a large covered patio, with carefully spaced tables - and a sizeable fire pit.

Best grilled cheese in Vancouver and limitless beer selection. Dining in also and cozy heated patio w firepit.

Nice relaxing time on the deck with a really good Cubano sandwich.

My girlfriend is celiac and they offer a wide range of gluten free beers that you cant find here in the Vancouver area.Highly recommend!

The beer selection was good. The place was nice. Our bar tender on Sunday at 4pm (10-11-20) was so rude and uninviting. Id like to know when shes NOT working so I can come back and enjoy myself. I dont think customer service is he strong suit. Yikes.

The brews are amazing! The selection is fantastic. The only reason Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I want better food variety/options. However, the food they do have is delicious.

This is my go to growler place. Their prices cannot be beat. They also have an amazing selection of cans and bottles to go. If you live in Vancouver the 10-20 minute drive there is worth the growler fills. They have a great local selection that changes often. With the prices being so good you can risk trying something new.

Top of the line rotating taps and elevated pub sandwiches and more in a low key, intimate setting.

I’m not sure why I haven’t reviewed tap sooner. The atmosphere is perfect. Hunter green walls, Dark brown leather couches, a fire put out back and dogs. Heck yeah you read that right! What’s better than taking your well mannered best furry pal out to grab a beer and split a sandwich while strangers gush over your cute dog? Nothing, the answer is nothing. Tap Union is the GOAT. Best gem in Vancouver!

Ive been there twice. Both times I had their pork tacos and they were delicious, although they were better on my first visit for some reason. The reason for the 3 stars instead of 5 is die to the staff. On my 1st visit I was alone celebrating my birthday by myself. I used to own my own 5-star restaurant 26 years ago so I enjoy discussing the business with other restaurant employees. When I was choosing a beer with my order I asked the gentleman who was taking my order his opinion. He wasnt very pleasant or helpful and acted as though I was putting him out. There were maybe 2 or 3 other customers there at the time. When I told him it was my birthday his response was not what I would desire from any of my employees. His response was not anything to make me feel that he could care whatsoever. I didnt expect anything free or a party for me but he could have at least smiled and said something kind. That was a turnoff. The 2nd time I was with a friend and ate outside. It started to rain and no one came out to assist us in moving inside. Their follow up after being served was none. I dont care how delicious a restaurants food is if the employees arent helpful and kind and their service is poor I will never return there again. I gave them two tries and thats all I need to know that they dont deserve my business. There are so many other choices for restaurants with just as delicious if not better food.

Best Ruben in town and great service! The Cuban was equally great! Always a good crowd. Love it when our group chooses to go there. We are always welcomed and the owner personally keeps making sure everyone is happy.
