Joe was super helpful when I needed 1 basement window replaced. Skip the big box stores when looking for windows, most of them are trash. Finding a local supplier willing to sell to an individual homeowner was quite hard also. I found West Essex Building Supply, and Joe was amazing. He was willing to take my emails and review pictures of my window opening and measurements. He was able to advise on what size I should order, and when I arrived to pickup my order, he had a demo rigged up for me to show me exactly how to properly install. I couldnt be more happy with the level of service and care. He even called me a few weeks later to check up on how the install went, the size was just right and no issues. Joe if you are reading this, thank you again, you are awesome!

When I was looking for a solid core door for our basement, it had to be a special size because our basement ceiling height was (still is) low. I looked at several big box stores and none of them could help. Finally found Jaeger Lumber and could not have been happier with their advice. They helped us find the perfect door slab and advised on how to cut it down without loosing the bottom seal. We stained it at home and now its the perfect fit for our basement gym. Thank you!

This place definitely need more people working outside every time that I come here I spend too much time waiting to someone just to write it down the ticket plus the hard time to pay it takes too much time

Overpriced by a long shot on my last two visits for bathroom renovations. The industry is crazy right now but still a substantial amount more than other yards or Home Depot even. Ill give em another shot because its convenient but if its still the same price difference, itll be the extra 10 minute drive elsewhere.

As a woman ordering construction materials, I am unfortunately unaccustomed to being treated with respect by lumberyards, and yet every time Ive interacted with any West Essex employee it has been positive, respectful and pleasant. I will be continuing to give West Essex Building Supply my business! I have never been disappointed by their courtesy, professionalism, and prompt delivery.

I chose this store because it was open a half hour later than the other lumber stores on a Saturday and I am so glad I went to this supply house. Going to lumber yards can be intimidating at times if you’re not a regular contractor or a busy do it yourself-er. George Dirk helped me that day and he couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. He was honest and guided me in the right direction when I was in he market for an Andersen French sliding door. He made the process quick and painless. They definitely procured a new customer for all my lumber needs. George also gave me a valuable lesson on tools purchased at a lumber store vs Home Depot. Thank you George for your help!

Great service! Very helpful staff when I went in not really knowing what I needed to build a deck.

We do lots of carpentry in our house and West Essex has helped us many times over the past 7 years. Chip and Jimmy are always on hand to help us pick rather complicated moldings for woodwork. We have matched many of the Victorian details in our houses woodwork using new, hard wood moldings that West Essex usually has in stock. If they dont have them in stock, they have a vast array of catalogs and can order just about anything. I highly recommend them.
