Went in for a pair of shoes and was immediately was greeted upon arrival. Went to the shoe area and was helped very quickly. I tried on 4 pairs of shoes and bought 2 pairs. On the way out I found some shorts for a great price! Excellent customer service and check out was a breeze.

Sold manufactured defective bat in their own words. And would not refund after not even a week of use for a 6 year olds tee ball bat completely dented the bat in. I was givin just about every reason why it was not gonna happen. There are scratches on the top. It looks used. Did you use the right ball?. Blah blah blah. Terrible service by the managers. Will not be shopping at this store again.

They really ought to change their name to Athletic 5, as they dont stock any pants over 40 waist size.

Their clearance prices for shoes are amazing. Their sale prices are too. Used a coupon for a pair of work boots and clearance tennis shoes. It was the same as if buying boots and getting shoes for free. Their staff is friendly and all have smiles on their faces. Still have a huge selection of supplies and clothing to choose from.

Ample parking, CDC protocols adhered too, helpful employees and well stocked.I will return

Nice job in posting the covid 19 policies. You may want to attach another sign stating employees open the door to regulate customers in the store. Myself and others thought you were closed. But thank goodness youre open! My spot for shopping once week.

I purchase a 12 gauge shotgun from this store and waited the days required to pick the weapon up. I went into the store yesterday and waited 12 minutes before someone came up to help me. The gent went in the back room where there was loud talking between two people from this room. The gent came back out and said the weapon wasn’t available. I asked what that meant. He said that the merchandise wasn’t ready to be processed. Why, I asked, because this was the day I was to pick it up. After a few minutes of bantering the guy finally admitted that the only computer available to process the gun was being used in the back room where these people were talking very loud the whole time. He we said I need to make an appointment to pick the gun up which was never disclosed to me at purchasing the gun. I stated to this guy that I had purchased three rifles earlier in the year at this same store and didn’t have to make an appointment. The guy said come back in two 2 hours and he could help me out. I explained I took off early from work to pick up the gun and had other task I had committed to. The guy said there was nothing he could do. This is the last purchase I will make in this store.

I try to spend money here but cant. Same thing, day after day.

Out of all the sporting good stores that used to be around, I cant believe that this store is still here. It is average with most selections, and nowadays only a very small group of people here are actually nice. I set aside all the cons because sometimes I would be greeted politely by the cashiers and there are decent sales from time to time. But after today when the manager tells me get out of my store please, after buying $75 for shoes. Heres my review reflecting from this experience. Im shopping last minute making my way to the shoe area and a pale brown guy with glasses says you know were closed right? It was close to closing so he shouldve said Well be closing very shortly, is there anything I can help you with? I actually came in wanting to buy one of the shoes thats on the ad, but while looking for it the same guy was having a conversation with the manager and was cussing without a care. Another employee was around so he helped me find a pair that was my size, so him and the cashier were the only ones doing their job right. The reason why Im not giving a one star is because there is still a chance that this place can still pull through to be a good place to at least find the necessities for most sports. But the manager shouldnt be out on the floor or hell kill any sort of repeat business, and let the other rude employee go since he didnt show a shred of professionalism. At least for now Ill say this, dont show up 10 minutes before closing or youll have a bad time.

Greg the store manager is amazing ! I wanted some comfortable work shoes as I had been having problems with my feet and he truly looked after me ...he suggested some lightweight Dr Scholls and they worked out perfectly. I went back a few days later to buy a second pair because I was so pleased but unfortunately he didnt have anymore in stock but Greg followed through calling around to see if he could find any local Big 5 stores and eventually set me up! ... AMAZING service from Greg who sure knows his job plus hes a real nice guy! I highly recommend a visit! 5 STARS for sure!!!

I asked an employee to assist me in finding a soccer ball and pump for my grandson and it wasnt busy and the employee verbally directed me to the area it would be, I told the employee I had a hard time with my vision and I couldnt see where they were directing me and still no one would physically show me where the items were so after wondering around for 10 to 15 minutes I finally found it on my own. I will not go there again!

I like Big 5-- often there are good deals in the flyer. Staff here is friendly. Ive had no problem with a return. They wont price match, but often it isnt an issue. Great for in and out purchases or when they run that special. Great place to by athletic shoes also.

Went to purchase an item for $29.99. I called ahead to check inventory and the employee says they have it and it’s $26.99. I’m think to myself “cool it must be on sale”. I get there and the item rings up at $24.29 and then I ask if I can use my 10% off coupon. Employee says yes and rings it up. I had another item so the grand total didn’t throw up any red flag. When I get home I look at the receipt and see that the employee just rang up my item back to the original price of $29.99 and took the 10% off that, which was still higher than the $24.29 the item rang up as. Such a small amount to drive all the way back for, but what a dishonest business Big5 is running. The employee should’ve said “oh, the sale price is cheaper anyway, you should just save your coupon for next time”. I think my days of shopping at Big5 are through. They’ll probably be the next sporting goods store to sink anyways. 💩👎🏻

This is the place to go for camping gear (in addition to the army-navy surplus stores in downtown Oceanside). Friendly staff (be sure one of them accompanies you around the store, just be ready with your shopping list filled out because these people get very busy. Store also has the best return / refund policy in the business, check them out!!!

Big 5 has been around for years. Even bought a surfboard there when I was a teen in the 60s.

Maybe as a last resort if you have not found what you are looking anywhere else! Selections are small, help is even more sparse, and the long yet narrow layout of the store is annoying. The workout clothing selection is bare bones minimal. Shoe section looked descent but did not fully check out as we were there for athletic shorts.

Its big 5, what else do you need to know...their all the same. Tons of cool stuff.

Went to different areas of store and also looked at shoes sale. Store wasnt very tidy. Shoe sales were confusing.... Some on sale up front but then the same type sale going on in the back of store but then non sale priced mixed in with sale. Shoes were unorganized and forget finding sizes to match up a single shoe with another single shoe. Staff friendly but not a big help in shoe area.

The store is a joke if youve ever had anything to return their if its worth over $100 they will turn you away and then kick you out of the store because they dont want to redo any refunds over $100 I seen them turn at least 10 people away today because they had a purchase over $100 and they told him theyd have to contact the manufacturer or their corporate headquarters that store manager is a joke and hes very rude
