The only place to go if you are looking for audiophile gear in St Louis. Wonderful staff, amazing gear. Fair pricing for the incredible quality you are getting. You can tell they are enthusiastic about what they do.
Classy. Very knowledgeable. Friendly. Dont talk down to us electronic illiterate.
5-star excellence from Dwayne and the team. I am a 18 year older customer and the old equipment mixed up with the new sounds amazing.
The staff at Music for Pleasure is top notch! Dwayne & Eric and Rob are really dialed in to knowing how to fill your listening needs offering numerous alternatives to fit within you budget and genre desires. It is easy to turn on some music and say, What do you think? and that is what you get at Big Blue, but not here. These guys take it to the next level and customize solutions and educate you on things in the process. I have learned more from an equipment state point of view in the last three months than I have in a lifetime regarding quality equipment and points of differentiation to help in the decision process. I am a musician and have a fairly good ear, but these guys have played music for me on very obtainable systems financially and I am hearing things that I have not ever experienced before. I have played tracks on their equipment that you can not tell if it is a recording or live drums and cymbals as I own some of the gear on the tracks played. You dont know what you have been missing until you go into a quality shop like this and spend some time with Dwayne and Eric and Rob. The are knowledgeable, ethical and good guys to deal with. They also will come to your home and get everything calibrated to maximize your experience with the equipment. Im glad I found these guys!
These guys are great. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. There is no push to force you into buying anything, so I will sometimes just stop by to ask questions and find out about new products. They are always willing to help.
I was looking for a replacement for my 30-year-old equipment without having to spend the equivalent of a used car. Rob made a number of great suggestions that were exactly tailored to my needs. I also appreciated his prompt replies to my questions (via phone or email). When I had difficulties to get my new gear running, he knew immediately what the problem was and fixed it. Very good experience, highly recommended!
I have been a customer of Music for Pleasure since the 90s. Surprisingly, many of the same crew works here still and always know my equipment, how it was installed and why something may need updating. Recently, my Bluesound Node2 stopped working. I brought it in and they swapped it out. No hassles, no returning it to the manufacturer... they just swapped it out and everything is working again perfectly. They are really the only hifi and high end surround sound shop in St. Louis. Chicago has one too, but I think MFP is the best. If you are looking for a hifi shop with people who know their stuff and are extremely passionate, then you have found the right place.
I have been looking for a new audio/video system for sometime now and havent been happy with the lack of knowledge and selection at places like Best Buy. I did a search for audio and video in St. Louis and Music For Pleasure popped up. After looking at their website I wasnt sure if I could afford anything they have, but I decided stop by on my way home from work one day. When I first walked in I thought I may have been correct. Then Rob greeted me and welcomed me to the store. He started asking me some questions about my room and how I wanted to use the system. This was new to me as every place else I had been just told me this is what you need without any regard to my wants or how I was going to use the system. After spending a little time looking and listening to various systems I settled on one that was close to my budget. Music For Pleasure delivered the system, set it up, and spent the time with me to make sure I was comfortable using it.I am now really enjoying listening to music and watching movies on my new system!I would highly recommend Music For Pleasure to any of my friends or family. Especially if you are a woman who enjoys music you should consider them for your audio system! They dont look down on you and treat you with respect while making you feel comfortable with your buying decision.
We went here and had a really nice experience. Staff is super friendly and there’s a really homey atmosphere. We bought some speakers (kind of expensive) but they were super high quality. 10/10 would recommend it.
The folks at Music for Pleasure are incredible. We were looking for a system that did not cost $20K, but would provide great listening. They took the time to explore what sort of music we liked, how we liked to listen, what are space requirements were, etc. The installation by Dwayne and Bob was flawless. They went the extra mile to make sure that everything was perfect...and helped us with our ATT next of cables. The components they helped us choose provide incredible listening.
Whether or not youre investing in your first stereo system or looking to upgrade do yourself a big favor and pay these guys a visit. Ive been with them for three years and they know their stuff. They have gear for every level. If you dont know where to start, no problem. They wont talk over your head or brush you off like salesmen at the other stereo stores. Excellent customer sevice AFTER the sale.
Had a problem with clarity in my center surround channel and no one was able to solve the problem - that is until Music for Pleasure came over with a terrific solution. In less than 15 minutes the problem was solved with a cost saving solution. These guys know what they are doing and you can trust them. Great products and great service. What more really matters!!!
Ive already expressed how impressed with the sound and service I have received. Last night, after 13 hours of seeing patients, I just wanted to come home and listen to music. My receiver bonked out. I did not expect a reply but I texted Dwayne anyway. He replied!. We tried trouble shooting my sound system at 8:30 at night! Above and beyond. What can I say but Thank you!Steve
I decided to give Music for Pleasure a visit because I had driven passed the place for many years, and figured if a specialty place like this could survive in this age of online purchasing and big box store electronics, they must be doing something right. For those who want the review to get right to it, do yourself a favor, and just go to this place. If theyre a little too far to pay a casual visit, give them a call and youll see for yourself how helpful and knowledgeable Music for Pleasure is.I went in with expectation that I would be laughed out the door when asking for a simple receiver and two bookshelf speakers, but instead, I was treated well. I wasnt too low end for them. The employees listened very carefully to what I was looking for, and to the price range I was wanting to stay within. I was shown an array of possibilities and was never pressured to buy anything. As a matter of fact, I had visited the store on multiple occasions as I was carefully considering my options, and each time felt welcomed. Without hesitation, the guys would let me listen to the various speakers setups I was considering as I narrowed down my selection. I was given literature and points of reference, and was always told to never hesitate to call with questions. I always got an answer over the phone to any questions I had.I eventually made a decision and spread my purchase out over a couple of months. I felt these guys truly had my best interest at heart, and made recommendations based on whether or not this is what they would do in their own home. I was both recommended to spend a little more here, and a little less here, so I never felt they were constantly trying to upsell to get as much money out of me as they could.I am extremely pleased with the outcome. My speaker sound amazing and know that Ive made a purchase thats going to last me for years to come.
This place is top notch. Best customer service I have got from a high end audio shop. Never pressured to buy and always very friendly.
Great service and equipment. Guys were all very helpful and had smart and prudent suggestions on equipment. Went the extra mile on the install too!
E.xtremely knowledgeable and nice people, excellent displays and top-notch sound and customer service. You want the highest performance and quality at veru attractive prices? This is the ONLY place like this within a 1000 mile radius. Highly recommended!
The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend this place for your stereophylle.
Best customer service in all of STL. Rob was truly insightful. No matter what your budget or objective they truly want you to have the best experience possible.
I was excited to visit on my day off because i had never been here before and wanted to see and hear what they had to offer. I was looking to upgrade some of my current gear. I was hoping to find education and guidance. I dont waste money on expensive cars or clothes, but i waste plenty on stereo equipment. I drove a 85 Cougar, wore bluejeans and a T-shirt. because of that, i believe the sales guys made some presumptions about me and were not willing to help me. The entire time i was there i felt as if they just wanted me to leave. I drove a long way to get there. I came prepared and brought my favorite orchestrated music CD. After getting permission, I sat down in a room and put in my CD. the sales person went into the next room over and turned up the volume up, I was unable to listen for the details i was wanting to hear. I would ask a question about the room acoustics or sound i was hearing to try and compare it to what i would hear in my own home, and they would become defensive as if they were prepared for a huge argument. They dodged all my questions by telling me things like i was not there for the original recording of the song, so i cant possibly know what it is supposed to sound like, So i cant possibly know if it sounds good or bad. Basically being extremely defensive and unwilling to help. So i would ask what they recommend for me and that didnt get me anywhere either, after asking enough questions it became apparent to me that these guys just wanted me to leave. After having a conversation with two of the guys there i feel as if they know nothing about sales. What they should be doing is questioning their customers, Inquire about their current setup to determine what gear could be upgraded. Ask them about their music tastes to determine what sound they are looking for. And ask them about their budget to determine what products you should be showing them. Dont just shoo people away, Its bad business. Sure if they are looking for a soundbar point them elsewhere. But you should find out how deep their pockets go or what they are willing to spend before you walk away. That is basic salesmanship. I might visit again sometime in the future, hopefully your sales team is more professional by then.
I have been a customer of MFP for nearly two decades. I learned to trust them early on. They always lead me towards the right gear for both my multi-channel AV and two-channel music systems, even when it means recommending something less expensive than I intend to buy at first -- they focus on making sure I have a well balanced system that suits me the best, rather than making a sale. For those times I change my mind and have used my purchase, they have a generous trade-in policy. I have taken advantage of this on numerous occasions and end up better than if I had try to sell my gear on the used market. On the rare occasion I need service they go beyond expectation to get me sorted out, often making sure I have something to play while my equipment is serviced, or just replacing it outright with something new. I bought a record cleaning machine from them. The switch on it starting going bad (after intense use) a week before the warranty expired. They replaced the entire unit with a brand new one, no questions asked. As for auditioning equipment I am always able to audition equipment with as much time as I need to be satisfied. They are happy to either stay with me and answer questions, or go away and leave me to relax and listen without interference. They never make me feel like I am wasting their time. If I dont like something, they are knowledgable and experienced enough to ask the right questions and lead towards a better choice.Whether you are an experienced audiophile or you dont care about gear and just want to enjoy media, I wholeheartedly recommend Music For Pleasure for their honest, no nonsense approach to making sure you walk out happy with a purchase that is right for you (rather than for them).
