Went in earlier this year to look at a commercial lawnmower. Waited to talk to someone while they chatted. In the end shook hands on a deal that was offered on a last years model. Went in the next day with the payment and was told the price was now going to be $500 more. They owner even admitted to me that while he was still making money he had decided that it wasnt enough. I sent an email later explaining to them how i felt about the matter. They did not bother to respond to me. Even though they mention to my father the next time he was in that they had in fact received the email. I have been going to the Tennies stores all my life. I can only comment on my recent experience but i would be very careful when dealing with these with them. When you shook someones hand that used to mean something. They may have made a bit more money selling the mower to someone else but they lost my business for life.
I went there early this afternoon, had a problem assembling the rear bag for my lawn mower, several employees seemed to be very willing to help me out.. along came a largerman looked at it and instantly started putting it together for me.Thatll be five bucks, he said as he inquired where I purchased it, I told him not here., his response was, well, maybe if you got it here there would be no cost. What ever happened to customer courtesy? After being treated with what seems ZERO respect...in the future that will be the LAST place I go to!
T this place is packed with just about anything you could possibly need. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and I managed to get everything I wanted plus without a problem. They have a basement which I did not get down to. Next trip. They also have a large parking lot. Very handy in that part of Downtown West Bend
I needed some axel keys for my 60 year old simplicity garden tractor. Yep they had some in stock. Very helpful
Had everything I needed even a tower fan in the fall nice small town feeling very nice people great service!!!!
Thanks to Todd and Terry, Tennies Ace is the only place I buy power equipment and have it serviced at. Simplicity tractor, Echo power yard equipment, and Stihl chainsaw. They carry the better models the big box stores dont stock. They stand behind what they sell and service it to without complaint.
Tennis is one of those small town hardware stores with all kinds of things you need! 😒 I am editing this review because when I was here yesterday i left my key on and ran my battery down. No one would help us here. We asked three people who all shrugged it off and one guy saidcould not help us now! So my husband had to take his scooter home 20 miles one way and pick up a charger. I was surprised that no one would help us. Obviously they could.. While waiting for my husband the owner walked by and I asked him to help . By that point all I needed was an outlet and he made sure we had one. I never asked you to drive my husband home and we were your customers that day but we wont make that mistake again for a long time!
Always great customer service - beats going to Home Depot/bigger stores, especially if you need help.
Large selection of everything for every project. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of parking available.
Helpful informative personal staff, do not have to walk listlessly through the store making it is a time savor
Any type of Hardware that you might need is here. Nice place!
Always have what no one else has.
Needed a key copied just to open the door to the car, not start it. They tried to sell me a $189 key fob!! I explained over and over all I needed was a key copied just to unlock the car door. After 30 minutes, and them figuring out what they needed, they finally ordered the key blank I needed. Cost : $3.79 plus tax. Not impressed with the pushy sales people (3 of them) trying to sell me what I didnt need or want.
The staff here are always helpful. I can always rely on them to provide any assistance I need with any issue.
Small engine parts/service department is absolutely terrible. Would not recommend.
Great prices, staff was sooo helpful!
Tennies Ace Hardware in West Bend should not be sponsoring Logans Laps of Love. By doing so, you are contributing to unjust family separation. Logans Laps of Love exists to raise funds for Childrens Wisconsin which has a $22 million child protective services/child welfare contract. They regularly remove kids due to prejudice and to fulfill their contracts rather than when there is actual abuse or neglect.
I took my mower in for service. It works fine and they shined it to look like new.
Not long after you walk in someone is asking you if they can help you find something. Thank you
Good deal on new simplicity shopped all around got the best deal there
Chain saw issues, and they were very helpful!
Top class customer service 👏
The service and selection were great, the prices were a little higher which is typical of the Ace hardware stores I have been to.
Needed some electrical help, and Kenny did just that! All the staff here are great. Highly recommend this store.
Dennis you may want to call John to get the entire story so you dont think your customers are liars. Todd and Terry both have his phone number. Thank you for the reply to my comment but you dont have the accurate story from your team.
The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Better overall experience than the big box stores. And cost competitive on most items.
We are lucky to have a local Ace Hardware in West Bend, WI. Its easy to over look whem you have 2 major big retailers that directly compete. But, when you need answers to help protect the homestead. Tennis has real knowledgeable associates. I have had my eyes on this Weber SmokeFire since its release earlier this year. Weber controls the prices. This is how Tennis Ace Hardware was the big difference maker. They offered Free Assembly and Free delivery. Big box stores dont offer customer service like that. The 2 associates who dropped the Weber smoker off too great care of product and rolled it up the driveway. Plus were very knowledgeable and answered my questions. Please remember Tennis Ace Hardware with a convenient downtown location and that personable local customer service that is top notch.
Not exactly a great first experience. Ordered a tap online to clean out some rusty threads and got halfway home before I looked in the bag to verify the item. I had to drive back to the store to retrieve the correct one. They did apologize.
I always loved going to this store. They always have what I need when it comes to small parts and tools but I had the worst experience today. I walked in and asked the woman behind the desk if there was someone in the first level that could help me with a part for my lawn mower because I couldnt do the stairs. She told me parts are on the 2nd level. I then left. For someone who is disabled this is very disheartening! Guess Ill make sure I spend my money else when and let others know what happened!
Great hardware shop, has everything one would want to shop for!
Just all around a very cool store with very friendly employees. They even have the old metal runner sleds.
If I could rate a ZERO I would. So upset with them. Spent 7000 on a lawn mower/snow blower. Quote was lost, not ordered for weeks after paid, still waiting for the wheel weights and they sold ours to someone else. We ordered these in March-April. They need to enter sold orders in a computer system and not leave them lay on boxes and tables. Very unprofessional. I hope my husband will takenhis business elsewhere. Someone who woupd take care of a customer that is spending a lot of money qith them. We bought many high end ticket items from them. My son does also. So disappointing in them I cant express it enough. I think they need a Manager that deals with customers and who will follow up with them. Get your act together guys.
Employees are very helpful to find what u need. A lady employee named sue was awesome in directing where to go for my needs.
Always helpful, informative staff and great service!
Usually have what im looking for
Just plain love the place, if you need it. They probably have it. Plain n simple. 3 floors of just about anything you need can be found at this large Ace place. Great staff included at no extra charge.
Great plAce to go & get what you need. I like talking to people who know what there talking about. Never been steared wrong.
Always friendly staff and owner that help me find what I need!
Good place to shop. Employee s very helpful. Wearing masks.
Nice store, very friendly and helpful staff
Just a little low on a few things due to covid. Otherwise it is my goto place for items that I cant get anywhere else.
$50 for a box of 50 rounds of basic fmj range 9mm? Come on you know what you did, I thought you guys were cool. 4 stars because I saw an ar-15 among other guns on the rack at pre floyd-19 prices. Also the small engine parts department is a treasure.
Its nice to have a small town feeling hardware store, much more personable than the big box stores. Enjoy shopping there.
Very disappointing experience. We recently moved to the area and needed repair on a leaf blower. This was the only local store that fell under our warranty. Person at desk, Pretty sure his name was Todd, was extremely rude, condescending, and quite frankly didnt seem to want the business or to maintain his reputation. If our warranty coverage allowed, we would not have stayed. We will never return, nor recommend anyone else do the same.
Always have a great selection.
Good place to be in and out for hardware and a few parts thats local. Much rather come here for a fitting or a bolt than have some kid point me to an isle and spending a half hour searching the shelves only to be disappointed. Great metric bolt & nut selection for your auto/motorcycle needs.
No problems with Tennies. Always helpful and good prices.
It is not often that I post a negative review following a service experience, but I find it hard to justify remaining silent on this one. See Sara Arndt’s Google review of just a week ago about her experience with Todd at Tennies Ace Hardware. It seems Todd’s demeanor with me was not a one off.I had purchased a new Dewalt table saw from Amazon and found difficulty in performing one adjustment in readying it for use. I did an online chat with Dewalt customer service seeking help. A person named Camilo understood my confusion using the instruction manual as there is an error in respect to this adjustment and also a lack of detail on how to complete it. Camilo politely referred me to the Dewalt service center network for assistance. After providing my zip code he provided me with contact information for Tennies Ace Hardware stating they serviced table saws.I thanked him and immediately called Tennies. After passing through two associates Todd took the phone. I explained my question and asked if he could help. Unfortunately, Todd made the short-sighted choice to make me out the villain for buying online. He was condescending and rude. When his attitude went too far, I reminded him that Dewalt referred me to them as an authorized service center and that my local Watertown Ace Hardware, my go to tool store, does not carry the saw. It devolved from there with him taking pleasure in the berating. It’s been some time since I’ve been this disrespected. As a retired business owner, I remember the importance of treating every customer inquiry as an opportunity to earn future business. Countless times I helped customers with products they purchased elsewhere. By the way, whatever happened to “The helpful hardware man.”
They have a whole bunch of small handy items as you walk in the store. Value priced. Nice gifts. They also fix and sell lawn mowers and snow blowers. I live in a condo and they sold us a nice Toro for cutting our lawn. Our old one we bought from them lasted over 20 yrs before the hydraulics went out. Highly recommend!!
Isles very narrow and a little hard to navagate. And the cashier seemed to have a stick up her butt
Always helpful.
Prices can be a little high, but I can almost always count on them when I need something. Staff are great.
I was followed around the store as I browsed and was asked to leave the store. Will never ever go to this overpriced hardware store ever again. I even had goods in hand with intentions of purchasing but eventually after being followed the entire time n not needing help they asked me to leave like I was a thief or something. I was beyond upset n offer to empty all my pockets n jacket to prove that I am not a thief. I left my basket of goods on the floor and had a few choose words for the older employee and promised to never return. If u are in your 30s or early 40s and feel like browsing at this hardware store then think again because they practice blatant ageism. If they had any clue most new home owners are my age and spend a plathera of time and money at hardware stores. I would prefer to support a local business but was forced to forever use chain hardware stores. Never patronize this business if youre a young man. This place is a joke.
Very helpful staff.
Middle aged Man in power tools was no help and rude about my questions and only pointed me in a direction of tool line that told him I did not want to go. And told me they did not not have the option I wanted, which I then found on my own in there store! Will never go back.
Anything I need, they will have. If I have a question, Mr Tennis not only takes the time to answer, he covers things I wouldnt have thought of until knee deep in excrement.
Friendly caring crew.
Was Very helpful, Always a pleasure to have a handy little hardware store in town. Great Job guys!
Everything you need under one roof. Awesome!
Highly recommend this store for any repair parts you may need. In particular a gentleman by the name Wally who I feel goes above and beyond his job description to help out customers. Whether you are there in person or calling on phone he is very knowledgeable, Will gladly answer all your questions. Thanks again Wally you saved the day
The people there are very nice and very helpful
I would not recommend shopping at a Tennies Ace Hardware Store. I called the store at 10:30am to purchase plexiglass and pick it up after work. I came to the store at 4:30pm to pick up the glass. It was not ready so I waited for the piece to be cut. The gentleman told me it would be $6.99. I was at the check out line and told the cashier the man told me it was $6.99. A man in front of the store advised thats not right his name is Todd . I said the man who cut the glass told me it was $6.99. Todd said we can look at the sheet, we walked all the way to the back of the store to look at the sheet and it was at a different price. Todd then said to me Im not in the business for losing money. Well, you are in the business of losing customers with your poor customer service skills. Im not upset that I had to pay more for the glass but Im upset on how I was treated in the process of buying the product. I think there needs to be a more efficient way to print out the correct price in the back of the store to give the cashier when paying for the product. The man who cut the glass did a great job and fits very well in our door.
Always find what I need. Semi-friendy staff. Good old-fashioned hardware store!
Great price 👍 on Shed . Order from the store in West Bend, they really made it happen.
This is my go to place for small engine parts. They have a very good parts department, I can always depend on them to get me what I need. As far as the hardware store itself, its great for that hard to find item, especially specialty nuts, bolts, and other hardware. Need a special pin, clip, o-ring, spacer, etc, chances are they have what you need. Need a custome size piece of window glass cut, they do that while you wait. For everyday items that can be bought from a big box store, youre better off going there. The prices are usually higher here. But for that special item you need now and cant find anywhere else, Ace has you covered.
Awesome store! Friendly people!
Great atmosphere really like the Antiques. Owners a nice guy too. Great service I think Ill be going there more often.
Jerry went out of his way in the small engine department to help me out. This is why I will continue to give my business to a local team. Keep it up!
Friendly and helpful staff.
One of my go to stores.
We got heavy rains that washed out our U11 baseball field and were in serious need of anything that would assist in drying the field. Todd from the West Bend Tennies Ace Hardware came through for us big time. They didnt have enough inventory in store, so Todd calculated the bill at the store then drove us to their local warehouse and helped us load our trucks all in the name of helping out local youth sports. This is the kind of service you get when you shop at a local/hometown store. We got our games in all because of Todd!
A great little hardware store. If you have a odd or unique part they are a good place to start. Also the people are really friendly and helpful.
Nice home town feel
Great service. Needed some special paint. Ruthy did a fantastic job matching a 25 year old sample.
Got this sweet ski mask from the store, it was only $2.42 w/tax
Ok
A great group of employees and a solid reason to buy local. They went out of the way to get me the best deal around on a new mower. I would always recommend going here before you make any purchase.
They had what I needed when I needed it
Great local hardware store
Whats not to like about a older experienced hardware store!!!
Very helpful staff and excellent service and great prices
Very knowledgeable staff. I have come in with a vague description of an outdated product I was searching for and was shown a variety of new and improved products to replace the old one.
Picked up bungee cords and Velcro. Always go to Tennies as the staff is always so helpful. Go to Menards or Home Depot, the employees go out of their way not to see you.
Very friendly and helpful people John was great on setting me up with my new lawnmower
Usually great service. Excellent selection of parts and hardware. A little disappointed with the knowledge of the helper today.
Great store friendly people and a lot of inventory to choose from so far every part I have needed they have had that’s perfect in my book.
Folks are nice and helpful . Never had any issues here!
Very helpful staff, they found the part we needed when an auto parts store couldnt.
I like this place for odd fasteners and plumbing stuff. I would say the small engine department is what i use the most. I also like that they handle Craftsman tools
The people that work there are so nice.I needed a coupler for my dog cart and they let me try it out b4 paying to make sure it was the right size.
Small town Ace that has better deals than some of the big box stores. I will shop them last as it usually is a better unadvertised deal than Menards, Lowes, or Home Depot. Better deal on a Weber grill than anywhere else. Could not advertise the price because it was lower than what Weber would allow to be advertised. All the staff there is knowledgeable and highly qualified to recommend options that usually work.
Nothing better than locally owned and run businesses
$30 for hand sanitizer during a pandemic. Criminals.
Always helpful staff if they dont have it they will try to get it
Bought a new trimmer today. Everyone was knowledgeable and helpful. In stock and priced competitively
Hubby loves this place. You can find everything there!
Fine place. They have a few bits of hardware that I cant find elsewhere.
They specialize in Weber grills. Ours is over 20 years old and we were able to get new bars for it. Dont need a new one.
Superior service, family owned, fair prices and wide variety of merchandise!Been a customer since 1976 and never a complaint.
I was so happy because of the gentleman in the back corner of store by the nuts and bolts so helpful that it was unreal Ill be back as long as hes there thank you sir
