I love this place... I havent visited this place ina while because I dont get up to Hoover that much but they are still amazing!! My brother and I purchased 2 fishing poles 16 years ago from this store and we are still using them to this day... When I do manage to get to fish at Hoover, this is the place everyone should want to go to get everything they need to fish!! Bait, tackle, and food!! One of a kind place!! And the owners are absolutely awesome.... And i love their cats!! 😁

Ive been getting fishing tackle here since I was a kid. They have a great variety of items that should satisfy just about anyone fishing for anything. Judy and the rest of the crew are the best!!

Old school tackle and bait shop.The layout inside is a little cramped, but they do allow you to go behind the counter to view the products on the hooks. We were able to find the tackle we needed when browsing. The prices were fair and competitive. We did not buy any live bait, but they had a wide assortment.We will be dropping in again as we will be fishing near Hoover Reservoir pretty often.

Old-time bait shop. Been stopping in here on my way to fishing at Hoover since I was a little kid.Heres the thing about this place....when youre going fishing, so is everyone else so its going to be busy. No matter how busy they are they still will make sure you get what you need to be successful.They do have everything you need and obviously its going to be at convenient store prices. Its all in there but I do have to mention that the merchandising and product displaying could be much better. Theyd sell a lot more if they stocked more... especially when it comes to snack foods.

This was my second visit today to the old Dutchman. Last year I bought a temporary license because I didnt have all of my gear with me. Now that I have moved here I have everything and Im dying to go fishing. I walked into the store and the woman was very friendly she had my fishing license ready to go in about 5 minutes lamination and all. I liked at the store opens at 6 a.m. and doesnt close till 7:30 p.m. makes it very convenient for getting bait. This will be my stop everytime I go fishing.

When I fish in Hoover I stop over here for bait. Its a funky old shop. A lot of character. There are these old stuffed fish hung up and photographs of folks and their prize catches. You can buy fishing rods, reels, various lures. Basically anything related to fishing. Of course they sell various types of live bait including nightcrawlers, meal worms, and minnows. Some of the equipment is more expensive than you might be able to get online, on the other hand theyll explain how to use it.
