Not a gunsmith! Couldn’t figure out how to remove a roll pin to take out an aluminum part so he could re-blue the receiver and barrel. Instead, I got the gun back with the roll pin pushed in to the point that the aluminum button that the pin held in place no longer moves and the gun still needs re-blued! No mechanical knowledge here at all. He might be good at bluing but that’s not worth anything if he can’t get the gun apart without damaging it! I would have preferred that he just told me he couldn’t do the job and I would have been on my way.
PLEASE READ. Attached is a copy of my receipt so you know this is a legitimate review. The pictures are from my brand new $500 Beretta. I took it in to have a trigger kit and new sights installed and this is how it was returned me, after waiting three weeks. It honestly didnt occur to me to check the gun for scratches because you assume when you take your gun to a gunsmith they will take care of your gun. These are PERMANENT scratches. This is simply gross negligence. The trigger kit and sights appeared to to be installed correctly but I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this Gunsmith based purely on the fact that they put permanent scratches on my brand new $500 Beretta.
Went here for a receiver transfer, competitive transfer fee even during the 2020-2021 period. Staff was nice and friendly and helped through the buying process. Would definitely go here again if its so far away.
All around Great local gun shop. Friendly & Professional staff with the knowledge and experience that any gun owner will be comfortable with for services & repairs! Transfers are quick & painless and can’t beat the prices! Shout out to Nate & the Staff🤙🏽
Classes are great! Joe was knowledgeable, relaxed atmosphere! Highly recommend for any service or class.
Joe was great to work with. Needed a part for a shotgun. He searched for it and ordered it for me. When it arrives Ill have him install it.
Joe is awesome, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Great CHL class as well
Super helpful and nice staff. Had a repair done on a sight and was done in no time
Joe,I just wanted to thank you, i am extremely happy with the M&P pistol that you sold me, and the whole transaction! Thanks againRobert Lauer
Excellent gunsmith store with competitive prices, professional and friendly demeanor with an open atmosphere answering questions without stuffiness. The work was first class and will be returning with any future needs.
Joe was a great instructor for our CCW class. We came in eager to learn and Joe was a wonderful teacher. We had a great time at the range and learned a-lot of new tricks that increased our accuracy. Thanks again Joe!
Took the CCW class that velocity offers and I would recommend it 10/10 to anyone! Very professional and knowledgeable team! I learned a lot and had a great day with our instructor Joe. I will be back at Velocity for ALL of my future needs!
Great service and very friendly. Joe was extremely helpful in fixing my problem in a very quick manner. Thanks you very much.
Ive had Velocity Works service various firearms on a number of occasions, and they do a great job and charge a fair price. For example, I usually install sights myself, but sometimes I dont have the right sight pusher and/or my standard gunsmithing tools & limited gunsmithing ability fail to get the job done, so I turn to them to fix problems I often create by not having taken a gun to them in the first place. ;) Typically these are replacing factory sights that were pressed too tightly.Specifically, they installed the following sights as pictured: a pair of XS Big Dots Night Sights on a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380, XS Standard Dot Night Sights on my SIG P229 Enhanced Elite, and a pair of Ameriglo iDot Night Sights on my Performance Center Smith & Wesson M&P Shield M2.0. They all came out great and were wonderful upgrades to the factory sights. As such, I highly recommend Velocity Works.
Phenomenal staff!More knowledge than Ive ever seen in one store.Nice variety.Cant wait to return
I have been dealing with Velocity Works for a few years now and have specifically dealt with all of Velocitys staff namely Joe, Larry and Nate. They are all a joy to deal with and have treated me as a valued customer since the day I first stepped in to their place of business. I think their pricing is fair and the quality and workmanship is second to none. I recently just had an Apex trigger installed in my M&P Shield 1.0 and the transformation from stock to upgrade has been tremendous. Thank you Velocity for your professionalism and for the ease of doing business with your establishment.
Theres a great group of guys who work there. Really nice and really informative.
Larry and the other slender gentleman were top tier help. Great knowledge and I feel great about my gun and items I bought! Thank you gentlemen
Great little Mom and Pop shop tucked away in Westerville!
Nice guys, Helpful. Will return
Small shop with limited inventory. Got a transfer done here and their transfer fee was very good compared to other local shops. Owner and their gunsmith very very polite, professional and knowledgable. I hope to see them grow. Good folks.
Joe was very informative, professional and friendly. As a first time buyer, I appreciated that he walked me through features, mechanics, process, and safety. He was the only one working and managed the busy customer flow well.
Great customer service....Had an issue with my ar-15 and took it in for repairs. They took a quick look and figured out the issue with in a minute or two and fixed immediately for no charge. Will definitely be back for all my needs. Hard to find people this helpful and friendly. Most places barely give you the time of the day but the two gentlemen exceeded my expectations and were a pleasure to talk with. Made my day!!! Thank you!!!
Joe is an amazing instructor who knows what he is doing. He caters the course depending on your knowledge and skill with firearms. The outdoor range and shooting steel was a welcome change to indoor ranges where you shoot on paper. I would definitely recommend Velocity Works for your concealed carry or any other firearms training. I plan on sending my wife there in the future. Thanks again Joe and thanks velocity works for an informative yet fun day.
Just had some outstanding service from Velocity Works. The gunsmith there had my gun repaired and back to me the next week. The called to check the details and called right away to let me know it was done. Couldn’t be happier with the quality work and service. Thanks!
Joe is very friendly and helpful and has much knowledge about the in and outs of firearms. He also offers a CHL course that is affordable and painless!! Highly recommend giving Velocity Works a look!
The gunsmith (I think you said your name was Nate? Sorry, Im bad with names) is fantastic! I had an incredibly stubborn barrel nut that I had been brutalizing all day without any success. My man had that thing off before I could even finish browsing the guns in the store! My Fortis rail went on like a breeze after that. Big props to this shop!
Took my S&W SD9VE 9mm in because I had the slide rail lock up on me. Im sure I had misaligned the recoil spring incorrectly after cleaning and putting back together. Anyway, I have light experience with gunsmithing and spent over 4 hrs trying to get this rail to release, no luck. I let the pros at Velocity works take a look and within 20 seconds they unsiezed the rail and put it back together. WOW.... was a little embarrassed but nonetheless, gun works perfectly. Thank you guys, you won my gun concerns business. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
I went in to have a barrel nut removed as I did not have a vice block. I expected to pay at least what a block would cost if I ordered it. These guys had it off in one minute and didn’t charge me. Nice people. Ill be back to return the favor with a sale. They have a nice collection of collectible firearms! If I could give 6 stars I would, these guys get it.
I had a transfer shipped to Velocity Works with little expectation other than the required transaction. Joe noticed that I was eligible for a promotion from the manufacturer and went to the effort to not only obtain the required paperwork, but fill it out for me and address and stamp the envelope. Above and beyond in my book and much appreciated.
Gunsmith is ok when it comes to Ar15 work. I had him pin and weld a muzzle brake on my 14.5 upper. While functionally the work was fine. cosmetically a tig welder should have been used so he didnt have to grind on my very expensive barrel. They also charged more than 2 times what everyone else charges for the same work. The price would be fine if they did a perfect job. One good thing is if someone ever wants to check to make sure my muzzle brake is welded on, they will have no problem seeing that it is.
Great service! Very knowledgeable and had my repair done expertly and promptly. Highly recommended
Amazing educational classes—focused on safety and very informative! Great company run by genuine people.
Joe assessed my issue and gave me a very fair quote. Was told it would probably take a week to get resolved. I had it back in three days. I’ll definitely do business with them again.
As a retired police officer with 33 years of Experience, safety has always been a top priority. These folks take that responsibility to heart. Every fire arm owner needs a Professional Gunsmith to keep their equipment in top operating condition. Not only are the employees courteous and eager to help, they also display a high degree of professionalism. Watch for their professional deep cleaning firearms special. Have your firearms Professionally deep cleaned at least once a year. These guys are the best. Tom Randle.
Awesome. Simply put these guys (Joe especially) are great to deal with. Ive been doing transfers mostly with them for the last two years since moving to Ohio. Every time I need their FFL sent they usually send it within hours and 24 hours max. They promptly call when guns arrive and every time I go in there I find myself talking with Joe for a bit. Just all around nice people offering great service. They do not carry a lot of inventory but what they do have is priced right. They are always able to get guns for you and operate more on a special order basis.
Great local shop that does great work. I had them put my Geissele rail on my rifle as well as level some scopes out for me. Always friendly and quick with work.
Ok first off very nice people five stars on hospitality. I would defiantly recommend if you are buying a gun. The bad I cannot and would not in good faith recommend for gunsmith work. I had a rifle that I wanted glass and pillar bed and needed mounting screws. I got it back first thing I noticed was it was missing 1 of three screws. They did order and mail the screw to me. Secondly I noticed the glass bedding could have been cleaned up in spots some l light sanding would have went a long way, but whatever I can fix that. I got home and realized the rear screw in the action was not even threaded in the pillar was not drilled straight the hole did not line up and the gun would not even fire. I took it back and the gunsmith admitted it was off and was going to put a bigger pillar in to offset the hole so it would line up. The owner said he would make it right and compensate me somehow. I was afraid and even told my girlfriend they would try to wallow the hole out so I was happy it was going to be fixed right.Thirdly A week or so later I go to pick it up and he said all he had to do was wallow the hole out some. I have well over $1200 in parts in this gun wallowing a hole out is not good gunsmithing. The owner was biz when I picked it up the second time so no compensation was given so I guess thats on me for not waiting around I was frustrated by the entire deal. After getting it home the second time I noticed a part was missing. I called and ask the gunsmith he said with the bolt I wanted the part would not work and he forgot to send it with the gun. they did mail the part back. Like I said nice guys and would recommend for sales, but not gunsmith work.
I had an issue with my AR15. The Velocity Works team quickly resolved the issue. These guys took care of me and didn’t charge for their time! Great customer service and a small local shop. Give them your business. They will take care of you!
A great place with friendly service. Velocity Works is now my go to for gunsmith needs and transfers.
Extremely nice and professional staff that made my transfer a breeze. Will definitely be back in the future.
Joseph down at Velocity Works helped me get my first CCW weapon, the 9MM Taurus P111 G2 at the best price I could find anywhere. He even shipped it in for me and after a couple of days I was able to pick it up after a quick background check and paperwork which he made enjoyable with the conversations we had as he shared his wisdom with me. Thanks Velocity Works! 5 Star Service.
Took a little longer with my gun because it was damaged somewhere in the restoration. Representative offered to make it right though which I appreciated. I guess they are more of a middle man because two jobs that I had given them were both sent off somewhere else to be completed. I have since found a gunsmith that does EVERYTHING.There is another guy in there who looks like he sits in the back and plays dungeons and dragons. I think he is the gunsmith... He doesnt really seem to know what he is doing. Anyway, anytime I would go in there and greet him, he would ignore me or act real awkward. The main guy who handles the transactions is alright though.Went in here about four times now. Im not upset with Velocity Works; however, I will not be returning.
The store manager Joe was extremely helpful and informative. He took the time to explain everything to me and was very easy to talk to. This is a smaller shop but has some of the best customer service in the gun business. Def will be returning for future purchases.
Cool little shop thats out of the way, but has a very friendly staff. The store is back and to the right in a row/warehouse type building.Joe helped me with what route to take on whether to build or buy a complete AR15. They have an online option for extra selection. I will stop there first for my next purchase. Worthy of a visit.
GREAT EXPERIENCE! I found a gun I had been searching all over the US for ... These guys jumped on it and it was off to my FFL for a GREAT price... ask for Joe he will take care of you.
My girlfriend and I attended the concealed hand gun license (CHL) class at Velocity Works. My friend and I entered the class a little apprehensive as we both had limited exposure to hand guns. The instructor was great! He provided a lot of information in a way that everyone of all levels could understand. The class was very informative and by the time we went to the range we both felt comfortable with handling a hand gun. I would highly recommend this class.
I am very happy with the professional and friendly service at Velocity Works. They evaluated and appraised a large batch of firearms for me. I have also sold consignment through them and had FFL shipping through them. Highly recommended.
Small selection, but great prices on what they do have. Great staff too. Very helpful and not pushy. Strongly recommend checking them out.
Walked in to have some work done on my AR-15, walked out in minutes, free of charge. Prices looked competitive and workers were extremely nice. I will continue to do business there
I love this place and the guys working there. They are small and have a limited selection but theyre professional and courteous. Ive already done half a dozen transfers over there and I will continue to do my business with them
Love this place. The gun work is top notch and the staff is amazing! Even when I move, Im still staying loyal to this business!
Great experience for both buying andthe class! I purchased a handgun through the store and Joe was great at assisting me with figuring out exactly what I wanted. Theres a small inventory in the store but they have access to ordering in a lot more.I ended up taking their Conceal Carry class as well which was great. It was super informative for someone with limited experience using guns and Joe is super patient with newer gun owners and learners. I plan on taking their advanced class at some point awell. Highly recommended!!
Great to deal with. Joe and Larry are professional and easy with whom to deal. Pricing is realistic and fair. Service is A+.
Friendly atmosphere incredibly helpful. extremly knowledgeable I came in with with my 1911-22 with a hammer issue they were very thorough answered all my questions was fixed in a timely manner. Definitely will return for all my gun needs
Had a problem with one of my hand guns. Took it to Velocity Works and had it repaired quickly. Two thumbs up (would be more thumbs if I had more thumbs!) to Joe. Thanks again!
Velocity Works is the best shop in central Ohio! Ive been doing business with Joe and team for a number of years, and I always look forward to stopping in. Whether its a transfer, a purchase, or gunsmith work, this shop does it all or theyll get it completed for you. What I appreciate the most is the down-to-earth, personal interaction. You just dont get that from the big box stores. If they dont stock what you need, they will order it for you at a great price. They also have the best FFL and NFA transfer prices in town! Im a customer and friend for life!
I had a problem with my Covert Carrier Grip for my Walther PPKS.The gentleman at the counter said he could fix the grip and get it to attach correctly. He said he would charge me 1/2 hour of labor. He working the gun for about 30 minutes and successfully attached the new grip.I pulled out my wallet to pay. He said no charge, just give us a good write-up on Google.I have purchased a handgun from this shop and they have solved several problems I have had in the past as well as today.Give them a try for a new gun purchase or gunsmithing services. They are great to work with.I would strongly recommend them.Chuck PfeifferWesterville, Ohio
Amazing service. I had a couple issues with guns I had recently purchased and these guys fixed the problems fast and professionally. I will be bringing them all of my stuff!!
They are my go-to, gunsmith. great prices on some of their ammo, that is where ill be buying my 45 from now on. Great guys nice little shop capable gunsmith. 5 stars.
I bought a CZ70 from them one my second visit. I was originally looking for a Makarov but they didnt have one (no one in town did). The nice people offered to show me a CZ70. I declined at the time but they were really friendly and we started talking about guns. I purchased the firearm on my second trip. Again, we just talked about guns. The guys here are really courteous and friendly. I stopped in on a third trio because I needed help with a stuck rear sight on a surplus Makarov. Velocity arms helped me out with great service and friendly conversation. This is a true local shop that Columbus residents should support. Friendly service with no ego or attitude.
Terrible Shop for service. Stay clear. Dropped a shotgun off 3 Months ago to have a kickeez pad installed. Called for second time today and was told today “the part” hadn’t come in yet. That’s BS. I have ordered from Kick eez myself. It takes the about 3 days to get anything they make. These guys clearly don’t care about being successful. I went and picked up my gun and will find someone else...
Small selection, but great employees. Very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Also do custom leather holsters.
Thanks for the help! Only place in the north end that had what I needed! Nice shop and customer service and was great!!!! Check them out...
Nice local place, nothing fancy its pretty small for what you would expect. But the people are great, definitely worth checking out.
Good guys to work with. I’ve taken in firearms others could not or would not repair, the team at Velocity has been able to fix them.
Awesome guys, can do anything you want to a gun.
These folks are top notch!...Joe, Larry,Nate...good dudes!
Anti-aircraft missile battery in downtown Teran.
Very friendly and helpful. My new gun shop from now on.Thank You Joe and LarryGlen
Great prices online through the genie and the staff is extremely helpful
It is a small local gun store but knowledgeable and friendly staff with a decent inventory and they offer FFL service if buying online.
Great CHL class !!!
Went in to have them install a muzzle brake on my rifle first off did a great job and had it done in 15 minutes, talked with them about all sorts of stuff while I waited they are a very knowledgeable staff its a small shop inventory wise but will work with you for what ever you need done, will handle any gunsmithing or finishing/refinishing problems and ffl transfers you need, they also they make custom holsters for both IWB and OWB that are beautiful and highly funtional I would highly recommend them for anything you need done to a firearm or accessories I am very impressed by the staff
