After 2 years shopping here I am finally done with it. The cashiers attitude is terrible, once in a while you would get younger kids whos much more appropriate their jobs but sometimes you would get a unhappy cashier broke a bag and got mad and throwing your stuff like tonight, 3 stars instead of one because of the cleanness, will not be returning here, would rather drive a little more to Shaws where I used to go to, after a long day hard work I would rather not to see a unhappy face before returning home.
Went to deli n ordered 3/4 a lb of provolone cheese. They gave me .325 lb. Not even close. Someone needs to learn theyre math.
They can improve their selections of where everything is and make it organized so you get the things you need near the stuff thats like the groceries youre getting
This store is, in short, a hot mess. I go here often only because I live so close. I’m sacrificing time out of my life to write this as I just can’t stand to see this store have a grossly undeserved 4-star rating. The store’s issues aren’t entirely its management though, vice the company’s operations in general.Pricing - The company takes advantage of its zip code by price gouging. I usually save at least 25% of my total bill by just going to Market Basket…you might as well go to Wegmans or Whole Foods for their better quality.Food selection/quality - Because of the store’s smaller size compared to your typical S&S, food items and especially prepared foods are more limited…which I don’t fault them for, but the company’s stocking ability seems to be poor and it noticeably struggled vs. other grocery chains in early 2020. If something is out of stock, it’s usually out for several days. YOU REALLY HAVE TO CHECK expiration dates of items - they often put out bread/meat expiring soon. The parking lot (yes the parking lot) - there’s no reserved spots to leave carts. Naturally, the friendly customers of Winchester leave them everywhere in the lot…and you wondering if the cart that’s now touching your car just slammed into it…There’s also several reserved peapod spots that are rarely used near the front (why?)…and the store often didn’t shovel the sidewalk around Main Street last winter (which deserves it a 1-star by itself).Customer service - I get it…I used to literally have your job. You don’t owe me a conversation (and I don’t want one)…or a forced smile…you don’t even have to look at me…but SAY SOMETHING…like, “Hello”…”Thanks”…”Have a good day”, or respond if I initiate it. A lack of any human acknowledgement has happened so many times that I just use the self-service scanner rather than feel an aura of nastiness..:at least the computer politely asks me to “please remove the item from the bagging area”…It’s not all/most of the employees of course, but it’s too many of them.Bagging - I don’t bring my own bags (I’m a terrible person, I know), and so if you’re like me, you’ll find the store’s paper bags to be laughably bad. They often don’t have bags with handles, and the bags that they do have are small and so thin that even a single 2-liter in a bag risks breaking it…is it really worth that cost margin to have bags so thin? You’re going to kill poor Darlene on her walk back to her assisted living home…if a runaway shopping cart or ice on the sidewalk doesn’t get her anyway. Also, if you walk in and you smell something funky, no need to check your shoes for dog sh*t…it’s just occasionally the smellof the store. To the corporate employee reading this, before doing a cut and paste response, please forward it along so that corporate can visit the store for themselves…it’s all true.
Horrible horrible attitude from the cashiers. Should just ring my cart up myself next time. They say use the cashier they need their job.. I did.. and 3 times SEVERAL MONTHS APART. ALWAYS NASTY ATTITUDES.. WHY? DONT WORK CUSTOMER SERVICE IF YOU CANT BE KIND .. UNBELIEVABLE🙄🤯😡
Not bad for a quick stop. But I would never do a full order there. The prices are set for the rich people in town when there are 2 elderly places within a mile of it. Do the senior citizens get raked over the coals.
Store so dirty..never any stock..employees rude
Fruit flies all over the produce section. Many of the strawberry containers had strawberries with mold on them. The onions were half rotted. The floor is always wet near the frozen section and the staff tends to not be very helpful.
Their bags dont have handles. A grocery could not be more idiotic.
Clean store and super friendly staff
Bread vegetables lettuce mustard about $90 worth
People can get some foods and supplies here. But not cheap, not enough kitchen supplies.
Stop and Shop Winchester had more fresh produce now, the peaches and green leafy vegetables were very fresh. Some shelves remained empty, but the deli was serving customers again. The baggers need more training, put too much in a single bag which terminated before I got to my car. Overall, good market.
It’s a good place to stop, and shopOh, since the owner asked for some suggestions to get 5 stars:1. Need better apple quality; rarely are the apples crisp or in good condition. don’t know why, but literally every other grocery store has a decent supply in stock. S&S in Winchester just has mushy and soft gross kinds.2. Can you get Utz Kettle Cooked Salt and Malt Vinegar chips? Market Basket up in Woburn always carries.3. Bring back shaved/red pastrami. Seems like it hasn’t been there for a while (pandemic notwithstanding).4. That’s it for now.
Today I called & requested 2 lbs. of stew beef.A gracious gentleman said hed be happy to have it ready for me.By the time I got there to shop he was there with a smile & the perfect cut! Were originally from here but now on vacation as we reside in Florida.I didnt get the gentlemans name...but keep him!! Thank you for the great experience!!Lynne Soldani
Would give zero. Went to buy a bag of tarot tots and it came up with a higher price then stated on the shelf. When I brought it to staff attention they just were like “sorry that’s the price”. Then don’t stock product with the wrong price! The law states they need to adjust the price and they refused. I have the pictures to prove that it was labeled incorrectly and the law (which is right above the registers).
Way overly priced. Get double at market basket.
Pharmacy personnel Ashley, was very helpful and polite.
Top shelf
I went to the Winchester store this afternoon and the staff was very friendly,as usual and the store was very clean. My one complaint would be there was a very poor selection of steaks which really surprised me.
Nice job on my pickup order. Everything was timely and accurate.
This is a very small grocery store completely inadequate butcher shop The meats are pretty tough to find and Im dying to get a steak somewhere from these places
Generally, Im not a big fan of Stop & Shop put my experience today was exemplary. All I wanted to do was exchange a propane tank. When I went in, the first person I met was a security person. He greeted me warmly and we chatted a bit and he walked me over to get help. He turned me over to Sam (woman) at customer service. She was even friendlier than the guard. She presented herself well, professionally and was very helpful and fun to work with.Sam introduced me to Brian who took care of the rest. He brought the tank over to my car and carefully placed it in the back. He refused a modest tip.The three of them made my day.
I have been going here for years. The produce is the first thing you notice when going in the store. They have good measures in place for covid, and everything is nicely labelled.
The staff was nice and some were helpful.
For a local supermarket it is a very busy at peak hours of course. During the regular hours its still is busy but thats partly due to reduction in cash register checkouts. The place is always clean, uncluttered, handicap accessible. The produce is always fresh and is rotated as it should be. The meat section has a very large selection of grade A meat. Parking is readily available both out front and along the side. There is an ATM next door for those who need one.
This S&S is smaller than their mega stores. There prices are a bit higher than other chains. You would think there would be more than 2 manned registers open at the after school hours. I tend not to use self check out. There is more often than not a problem that requires a person to come over an help. Also slower than competition in restocking
Absolutely a wonderful Grocery Store. And throughout this epidemic, they have worked extremely hard to make shopping as safe and easy as possible...including the set-up of the store (e.g., arrows on the floors to direct the foot traffic of shoppers, special directions in and out of the produce center, special early morning hours for 65+ / older people, no previously used bags of any kind allowed to be carried into the store, etc.).Thank you, Stop & Shop Winchester!
Amazing customer service and very well stocked
Great store with fresh products at good prices. Parking can be a bit difficult, but overall good. Highly recommended!
Good produce
Outdated and high prices. The selection seems out of date, limited organics, not great produce, the store feels a bit stuck in time.Layout is also cluttered and the store could use an overhaul (not the freshest smelling and floors pretty marked up).Its not the worst in a pinch, but I would recommend other stores for regular trips.
Store is organized well, e produce is fresh, veryone was friendly when I was there. Was I at a different store than everyone else? Anyway, Ill be back. Thank you!
They try... They have better customer service.
Small and not up to date compared to other S&S stores. Could be a goldmine for S&S considering its location with more selections and options. Needs to be renovated throughout. Parking lot is a disaster with no place to leave carts after use, needs to be redone with new layout. Meats, fruits and veggie selection is good. Bakery and seafood is okay. The store just needs to be updated.
Theyve done s great job organizing the store and customers in these difficult times. Still always friendly and welcoming.
Stop&Shops employees are amazing. Im an employee there part time and I already feel like Im part of an awesome team. They are willing to help me assist a customer when Im stuck. I believe that I picked the best grocery store to work for. Winchester is really lucky to have such a wonderful place like Stop&Shop.
A convenient neighborhood supermarket meets the needs of the Winchester area. Albeit it is smaller than other Stop & Shops, it still offers a decent variety of products. What I like about Stop & Shop is that they have a strong store brand and strong specials in their natural foods department, but other stores like Shaws, Market Basket, and even Hannaford doesnt excel on as much. Prices for those who stock up when stuff is on sale average out to be lower than other stores.
I usually shop in North Reading and when the attendants there are not busy they help bag the groceries.I just shopped the Winchester store and the attendant was not busy at all but never attempted to help anyone.I informed her that the tape was turning red and her response was Im getting to it.I know we all have moods but in a customer service role a little politeness and friendliness would be appreciated. The seafood Dept clerk was very friendly and helpful.
Great customer service especially in the deli department. The staff is always willing to help, not just tell you which aisle number but theyll always walk over to check even when its not necessary. Thanks!!
Prices are high!! Its a smaller chain grocery store from the looks of it. Its not a Market Basket if you are familiar with those. Ill only shop there if its my last resort.
Same as all Stop & Shop that I go to. I CAN recommend them. (Otherwise why would I keep going)💁😉
I got a higher price at the self-cashier than the one advertised on tje shelf. It has happened twice in last 2 months. The staff said that was an error in the system but do not apologize.
A new family tradition I made is to wake up early on Sundays go to stop and shop and get fresh baked pistachio muffins for a steal and still warm. Right next to the bakery is a dunk in donuts so I can get my coffee too the best
Friendly experienced and helpful staff!!
Store is organized well, e produce is fresh, veryone was friendly when I was there. Was I at a different store than everyone else? Anyway, Ill be back. Thank you!
The selection of allergy friendly options available at this local grocery store is simply astounding and so very heartening for this mom. With a child who has life threatening food allergies to multiple items- grocery shopping can be a nightmare but finding so many options available for my daughter here was nothing short of joyous. At Halloween they even had a giant sign listing the major candy brands with the major allergens. I know this isnt something everyone deals with but when eating a simple snack can and has sent your child into anaphylactic shock, requiring an ambulance ride to the ER, having an easy food shopping experience is like a gift from a kind stranger on a gloomy day. Thank you to the managers of this store!
Store was visually clean with good employees. Shelves were not stocked. Freezer & dairy area smelled strongly of sour old dairy.
A small and somewhat oddly organized Stop ad Shop, but it works.
Self-checking procedure convenient but store might consider hiring Packers to expedite checkout process, or provide ability to funnel goods into two paths to expedite packing for single shoppers. This store OK for food some but not speciality items.
So frustrating! I had downloaded the app so shopping would be easier and I could clip coupons to my card. Had all my things ready and opened my app to have the clerk scan my phone/app and couldnt find where exactly the scanner was for the clerk. So I asked her if she knew where I could find the scanner and she had no idea. Then she asks who i believed to be the front end supervisor and she didnt know either. I eventually found it myself after holding up the line but come on, shouldnt the employees know how to work the app for the store theyre working in????
I am not much of a Stop and Shopper when it comes to grocery, but I must recommend their bakery. They have done an excellent job with the birthday cakes that I have ordered over the past years. The cake is moist and delicious. I have made all sorts of decoration requests and they always get it right. One year it was a Dora and Diego combo, this year I gave them a table cloth picture for my party theme and they came back with the most adorable cake for my baby. I did an eleventh hour cake request - more like 5 in the morning and they decorated the cake from my description on the phone!!
The stop and shop in winchester has the best meat of any grocer around. For the holiday, dont go anywhere else. Get a prime roast at prices you wont believe.
They never have green Mountain Med roast coffee when a person cant get there coffee dont expect a high rating from me coffee is a very important tool.
Good place to do your groceries and what I noticed some products are cheaper. Thank you for doing that.
Great store great people just a little cluttered
One of the most expensive stores and you still have to bag your own groceries
I went here since I first came to U.S.A., and its the best market I ever came.
Only 2 registers opened. The rest carasoul and pack your own. No thanks.
Ill pick their frosted yellow cake over almost any other bakerys. The baked chickens are delicious. And I like being able to scan and pack bags as I shop, so checkout is a breeze and everything is ready for transport.
Small store but getting better.
Most of the times bed smell in the produce section
I was just there a few minutes ago, at the self-check-out trying to bag my groceries. There was a manager or an employee of some sort right in front of my face, looking at me as I was struggling to bag the items and didnt move an eyelash. I felt like I was the one working there...He could have very well offered to help me but...oh no no...his job was to observe how shop and stop customers bag their groceries...You might ask why didnt you go to a register with a live person in it if you didnt wanted to bag... but hm well, there was only one register opened with at least 10 people waiting in line. That store lacks in all of the other areas btw...
Excellent section of bread. Get that bread
Its a decent place. I work nearby and went there just to pick up some things. Nothing particularly noteworthy or offensive about the place. It is bigger than your standard stop and shop which made navigating more pleasant.
This place is a joke. The guy that was supposed to get the carriages out of the parking lot spends more time goofing off and returning one carriage and a time. He needs to be made more accountable.
I went to get the 5 gallon water jar for the second time and the area where it is kept is empty for the second time too when asked why the young lady with glasses replied they need trailer just to bring one 5 gallon of water jar down I didn’t get it and don’t want to discuss so I just came back right away disappointed. The reason we get big 5 gallon water jar is because it will last long and don’t have to go back in the public places due to current covid situation and now I have to go back again for the third time hopefully this time there will be in stock.Terrible experience for the second time so I can’t help it.
Excellent selection of merchandise. Staff very helpful a d friendly!
Your standard neighborhood supermarket. Nothing wrong with the location, it is just on the smaller side and a little dated. Ive been to other locations that had better selections and have a better look.
Helpful and friendly staff, particularly the evening shift staff; the store has all you need in general but it does not have lots of Asian products for purcase
Great branch near Winchester center. Doesnt get too crowded and has a good selection.
Convenient but overpriced.
Well trained staff. Could easily help me out when needed.
Its small enough that I can shop quickly and I appreciate that they have a good amount of inventory for their size
Bad organisation and slow bagging service... Manager and check out staff fighting whilst serving and also wait time to be served was 25 minutes. DO NOT recommend!
Unless theres a sale..go to marketbasket
Went well. Got a gift card, candy, and wrapped flowers all in one place.
Convenient for me but at about a 15% premium, when I have time I go out of town to other Stop & Ship stores
I like there boca burgers thats the reason i went. Prices are way too high.
Small local store. Helpful butcher. Good Baker.
Good for a quick stop. Gave it a four b/c the produce and meat here are questionable to me....some folks do them but I dont.
Good place to do your groceries and what I noticed some products are cheaper. Thank you for doing that.
Convenient but prices are higher than most nearby supermarkets.
Convenient location. Friendly service. Choices are getting better.
All staff are courteous and very nice. Good sales!
Horrible customer service. Item was listed at 5$, and rang up as $14. They refused to help me. Apparently they dont know of the item pricing laws in MA. Not doing business there again.
Good deli and customer service desk . Grocery is overpriced and not as much selection as other Stop & Shops I’ve been to. Produce is horrible.
They have pretty much everything you need. Went on a hectic pre-christmas day and all the employees were friendly.
I love stop n shop. Dislike Market basket
Not bad. Little expensive. Sometimes you can find mold on fruit or vegetables/cheese.
We go to see family in the USA and I always end up shopping in Stop and Shop, the meat is fresh and the butcher helpful, fruit and vegetables great but a very good deli section, maybe not as upmarket as Whole Foods but has everything you need, and friendly helpful staff try it and see well worth a visit oh and reasonable prices.
Stop nshop is great !! Friendly people and service desk is very helpful!
I find me employees more friendly makes it easier to shop
Store manager guy was really angry with me because I had a hoodie on and kept it on as I walked in from the rain. They brew them angry in the Boston suburbs bub!
This place is extremely depressing. Workers seem burned out and miserable . This place is a huge waste of time and effort . It should be taken of of its misery .
My son and I went there last Friday. After loading up we drove 3minutes home he helped me put the grossories away. Later that night I went to the fridge and I smelt something funny. I looked in and threw out a couple of things that smelled funny and went to bed the smell ruined my appetite. Next morning opened the fridge and bamb!!!! Nasty smell again. Now I throw everything away in the fridge and freezer except what I just purchased from stop shop Winchester ma the night before. Still not hungry. Saturday night 24 hrs after shopping I open the fridge and the smell is still horrible. I figured that I will have to clean the fridge and freezer out completely but I was starving!! So I pulled out the chicken I just purchased and the smell was getting worse and worse. I cut the wrapper off and the stench was so bad that I puked!! I cover my face and put 4 bags over it and now what to do with the rancid meat. Cant put it anywhere because the stench was so bad.im 50yesrs old and in all my years I have smelt this smell a couple of times and its been a dead animal that has been left out. I figured to just freeze it until my son can get me back to the store. So Ive got no food and a fridge that will have to be sterilized or thrown away just like all the regular good food I threw out. I got to the store and asked for the big cheese, the boss. and i told her everything I just explained. I spent$130 bucks that day, showed her my receipt and asked for a credit of $200.00. I still wasnt ready to buy food cause I have to sterilize the fridge. She said that I left it in the car too long and that she will refund the cost of the chicken!!! Nice place to shop. When I voiced my opinions she had her lack call the police and the guy just smiled at me all the way to my sons truck. Im going back today and hopefully there is a reasonable manager on staff. I will video the whole thing this time.
Every time I have been to this particular Stop and Shop (at least ten times over the past three months) the produce has been expired, wilted or close to it. All of the greens on display are already slimy, the pre-chopped vegetable are rancid and somehow even the onions are moldy. Get it together.
Convenient and Clean but a bit pricey
Grocery ok. a bid shabby inside
