Love this place! I’ve written a review for the hotel but felt the dining needed a shout out.——We’ve dined here several times and we always leave satisfied. Today we had lunch to celebrate our anniversary and we’re surprised to see so many patrons in the afternoon. Full lunch is 11-2pm so plan ahead if you want the full experience although many come for dinner for a different menu. The hotel is an architectural masterpiece of Southwestern history from the Fred Harvey era and we have d stayed several times. The Turquoise Room is a large room with very tall ceilings and rustic chandeliers. The menu features about 20 items and each seem to add an indigenous ingredient. We each had a delicious margarita and the signature bean and corn soup; a must even if you share. Our meal was the pork carnitas and Navajo taco, both excellent. Not too large of portions and very flavorful and fresh. The chef here is worth his weight in gold for each dish is thoughtfully prepared and must have a following due to its popularity. Our server was new, Amber was her name I think and she was very new but polite and attentive. We absolutely love this place to eat and so happy the owners have invested so much to make this place so special. You will never see anything like it in Arizona.

Where to begin...First of all, our server was April. The did could have been mediocre and Id have give the place 5 stars because of her. Her knowledge of the menu and ingredients was simply amazing. She was attentive without hovering, polite, and courteous. The food, however, was not mediocre. It was sublime. We started with the signature soup and holiday salad. But very delicious. I ordered the elk medallions they came out cooked to my specifications (and I should have listened to the chefs advice) they were still flavorful and tender (just not melt in your mouth, as they no doubt would have been if I didnt order them overcooked...). My wife ordered the bison short ribs, and they did melt in the mouth. Each dish was served with the perfect complement of vegetables. 10/10... would definitely recommend.

Delicious food inside the historic La Posada hotel. Everything is made fresh with local organic ingredients. Their signature black bean and corn soup is outstanding. The blackberry BBQ sauce bison ribs with mashed potatoes and assorted vegetables is scrumptious. Other items I have tried are equally good as well.

The Turquoise Room at La Posada Hotel in Winslow is quiet and secluded; preservation of history and art is a driving passion here. The restaurant takes this preservation a step further by creative, beautiful presentation of amazing food. I was especially impressed by the vegetarian and vegan options. My non-vegetarian friend and I were both impressed by the Killer Vegetable Platter. A plus: both the hotel and the restaurant have options to accommodate pets. We found the restaurant by a fortunate stroke of serendipity; a couple we met by chance at Mesa Verde National Park recommended La Posada when we mentioned we’d visit Petrified Forest National Park next. I would definitely recommend this excellent hotel and restaurant experience to anyone else visiting the area.

We passed through Winslow from the Grand Canyon and had made a reservation here for Christmas lunch. I ordered the vegetable platter, my husband had the bison rib. A signature soup and the elk meatballs to share as appetizers. Every dish was done so well. My vegetable platter is what a vegetarian’s dream is made of! I would return in a heartbeat to have it again. Thank you for the amazing experience!

As others have said, this a place worth the splurge. I have eaten a lot of Southwestern food over the years, and this is a sophisticated and very tasty take on that cuisine. This is the hotel and restaurant that puts Winslow on the map. We made reservations for lunch, deciding that this meal would be a way to experience the restaurant without overspending. The grounds are still lovely, although it is the fall during a drought. The inside is historic, built in 1929, by the woman architect Mary Jane Colter. She did many well known projects, but this is the only one where she was free to design not just the building, but the grounds, the gardens, and even the original furniture. We took some time to explore the hotels public rooms, but did not go outside as it was raining and a family of skunks has moved into the gardens. If you like southwestern art, and Indian arts and crafts, be sure to check out the gift shop. The chef in the Turquoise Room is retiring at the end of September, so this was a opportunity to sample his dishes. There is a separate menu for each meal; lunch is served from 11-2, and reservations are requested. Masks are required, but what they dont tell you is that all diners are subject to temperature checks. If you refuse, they serve you in the restaurants lobby-like area. This was very off-putting, and the requirement of a temperature check is a violation of personal privacy. It dampened the entire experience. We ordered the Posole, which turned out to be a southwestern soup dish. My dining partner said it was good enough, but he had been expecting something more substantial. I had the Signature Soup, which is both black bean soup and corn chowder in one bowl. This was delicious and it and the pork in the carnita were the the only remarkable parts of our meal. The pork was excellent and I rarely eat pork. The rest, while attractively displayed and served at proper temperature, was OK. Certainly not the rave food we had expected. We had the Brownie for dessert. It was standard and served with gelato. The service was excellent Jerod was quite attentive and personable.Overall, this is a tourist stop and a nice place, but the restaurant seemed overrated, especially after the temperature check, which came as an unpleasant surprise. The restrooms are adequate and there is plenty of self-parking available. The restaurant looks out onto the tracks, so one can watch the trains, now mostly freight, come and go. Amtrak arrives in the morning and evening.

The food looks great online, but it was junk in person. My husband didn’t get his salad, he was give the wrong side, & his “medium” burger was cold & raw. He didn’t eat it for safety & health reasons. My salad had stuff in it I requested to be left off, the chicken was rock hard, & I requested salt twice but my hubby had to get it after 5-7 minutes of waiting the second time. Terrible service, bad food, overall rude staff at the hotel. I would have bought stuff at the gift shop but you cannot get service and who wants to be treated badly just to try to spend money? Avoid. My instinct when I see a town that appears to be hurting is to patron the businesses, but I don’t do bad attitudes & dismissiveness. I couldn’t even get someone’s attention to ask where the restroom was. There was one male server that looked like he was attentive. I gave this 2 stars because our experience may have been better with him as a server. Watching him work earned a second star.

The hosts was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. My wife ordered the bison short ribs, the meat was tender and delicious but she received vegetables that were under and overcooked at the same time, mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes and the ribs had alot of small bits of bone. I ordered the prime 14oz prime rib, meat was dry and alittle tough and the horseradish was tasteless. The ice tea smelled like sewer water and when we tried to tell the host, she didnt want to hear it. Very disappointed and will never come here again. 😥

Even though we had read great stories in Arizona Highways magazine and other places, we didnt expect this wonderful classic buildings and gardens. Then, the food at the Turquoise Room was spectacular. Every dish was rich and delicious, each with its own flavors. The elk meatballs were a standout, who would have thought?! Light and crispy on the outside, moist and good elk flavor inside. The vegetable platter-- Ive never had better. A light moist tamale, corn flan, and and 4 more items, each fresh and tasty. All the way through dessert, where we chose apple berry pie. The crust was actually crunchy, the flavor both tart and sweet. House wine by the glass list was very good.
