Delicious food!! The chicken pad Thai is a must have and I loved the fresh Thai rolls with their peanut sauce. Very flavorful. Sometimes I know pad Thai doesnt taste as good the next day but my leftovers were just as good as when I had them fresh. Very friendly service as well. I cant wait to try their other dishes
OUTSTANDING!This was my first time to Lanna, and I was completely surprised and overwhelmed by the experience.Fresh, hot, and delicious authentic Thai food served in a snug and intimate setting. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, the place was scrupulously clean and bright, and the food was among the best Thai food I’ve had in the Boston area and suburbs. Standout hits were the Tod Mun, chicken sate, fresh rolls, and the Pad Thai. You won’t be disappointed!
This may be one of the best restaurants period. The waiters were amazing, they were very nice and always were checking in on us constantly, it was actually amazing. The food. Was amazing, I felt bad I couldn’t finish it all, it was some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had, I got Pad Thai, and Sticky Rice, and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Their hot chili oil was also extremely flavorful. The environment is super cozy and iconic in that it’s also in a diner setting which I personally Adore. All in all a 10 out of 10 experience, I’m from out of town but I would go out of my way to come back to this restaurant.
Diner is fully open for inside eating and Max is as friendly as ever. Interior has been fixed up and the food is as amazing as it always was. A hidden gem in Woburn.
This place is the goto for delicious Thai food. Very authentic. If Im honest the Thai tea and coffees arent very good at all. The food is the why I visit here. From appetizers to main courses you wont be disappointed
Horrible service. Walked in. Sat for about 10 minutes. Nobody took our order. People walked in to do take-out and their orders were taken! The woman working the front was rude and stood there telling stories about her dating app experience while we sat waiting to order. We walked out after 15 minutes. What a joke!Peace out Lanna!
Great Thai food. My favorite Thai place in the area, and recently reopened. Ive ordered many items on the menu, & always pleased. My go-tos are generally chicken or shrimp Pad Thai, and fresh spring rolls, but their curry dishes are great too.
By far our absolute favorite Thai spot! Max is the best! Not only is their food delicious, but it’s consistent. Too often thai places are good one day but not the next. Anything on the menu is great and very reasonably priced. I especially love their curries. Good level of spice and their veggies are always fresh and crisp. Tofu is cooked perfectly. Eat here. You will be happy you did.
I am glad to see Lanna Thai back open. There food is excellent Thai food, I highly recommend Pad Tai.
The owner Max makes some of the most tasty pineapple rice!! The price is right service is great
This restaurant is an interesting concept, as it offers Thai cuisine in a traditional American diner. The owner bought the place about 15 years ago, so its well-established in the community. They have a very large menu--probably the biggest of any local Thai restaurant Ive been to.I found the food flavorful and fresh and the service was very prompt. They have a traditional diner bar that seats about 15 people and around eight tables for two people each.Parking is limited to the street and can be tough to find. They do a lot of takeout business--while I was there, more people came for takeout then to dine in.There is a minimum per person meal charge of you sit, but it isnt hard to meet it with an entree and drink. You wont be able to meet it by only eating one appetizer, for example.Reservations are only available for parties of three or more.
Outstanding, wish i knew this place sooner. Just went first time and grab a lot. I loved everything and the bacon rice was heaven perfected.cant wait to try more...oh and no grease and vegetables were crisp like you pick them and ate on the spot. If you havent been here you must go..and if you dont Ill keep this place all to my self lmao... I can eat here 365 days a year....trust me you will love it....and if you go you will understand the last pic
If you are looking for Thai food in an unusual setting, this is the place for you. In an old Dinner, you will find a family run Thai joint with comfort food and a friendly service. The food is good and prices are fair. The parking is available on the street and some side streets and seating is limited.
Just tried some takeout from Lanna Thai. This is probably the best Thai food my wife and I have had in the US.
Wonderful. I’m picky with Thai food and this place is surprisingly fantastic. Definitely worth a try!Pad Thai is sweet rather than spicy, there’s not really any spice to it, and I REALLY enjoyed it!! The bacon fried rice is also so good, although I did chop up the bacon pieces when we got it home, they’re kinda big. We also tried the fresh Thai wraps and the house sauce is very flavorful! We’ll be going back!
Excellent food, very pleasantly surprised
I like to go with friends to this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The meals are fantastic and the crew is very friendly and cooperative. Every time we go to this place we enjoy a delightful time. I recommend this place with pleasure.
The food is AMAZING here!
Takeout from your favorite dine-in restaurant is an interesting reveal. Strip away the accessories (silverware, plates, etc) the service and the atmosphere, the food is left to stand on its own. At Lanna Thai there is nothing lost with takeout! Of consistently high quality, with the freshest ingredients, masterfully prepared dishes that more than stand on their own! The best around whether you dine-in or takeout.
This place is worth giving a shot. They serve big portions for convenient rates. Constantly clean and with awesome ambience. I highly recommend this place.
Very cute, cozy little place. The food is delicious, and large portions for a good price. We went on valentines day, which is generally a busy holiday for dining out, and although the place was small and pretty full, the service was fast! The server was friendly and funny! I will definitely go there again!
Did CONTACTLESS TAKEOUT here the last two weekends and it worked great! Max took my order and payment info over the phone. I pulled up outside Lanna Thai, popped the trunk, and called Max to let him know I was there. Max put the takeout bags in the trunk and I drove home with delicious Thai food. Give it a try! My wife and I have been going here about once a week for the last 15 years or so. The place is always spotless. Guy, the Chef, cooks amazing food. If youre going to choose one place for takeout, this is the one.
Lanna Thai is the best Thai in the area by far. Its so fresh and delicious, and obviously made with care. Love the crazy noodles, the spicy duck, the curries. The owner is a sweetheart, service is great. I always leave smiling. Usually do takeout, but its a unique and funky space to eat in. Its small and they should try playing music so its not so quiet. Eating Thai in an old diner car is very cool though. I love the wooden cats by the door :)
Lanna’s is doing a fantastic job at staying clean during COVID, the place was spotless. The food was delicious!!!!!! Everything was fresh & flavorful & yummy, so happy we found a good Thai place near us. We definitely recommend.
We LOVE Thai food and Lana Thai Diner offers the most authentic, freshest and most flavorful Thai food north of Boston! Max is a great host. And the diner car offers a unique dining experience. If you love Thai food this is THE place to frequent regularly. Thanks, Max! See you next week!!
Awesome authentic Thai food! Excellent service. Seating is very tight and they are always busy. Any recommendation given to me from Max has always been delicious and he has the best Thai iced tea! Highly recommend coming here!
Amazing menu. Amazing service. Best Thai I’ve found in greater Boston.Owner (Max) is beyond friendly and remembers your name after one visit. Go with family? Next time he’ll how Sally and Freddie are doing.Food prepared by his sister in the tiny kitchen.Atmosphere is great but seating is limited. Take out is a great option.Try the soups!!
Laid back and relaxed atmosphere. Food is always delicious. I never get the same entree twice! I highly recommend the fried tofu and soups!
Really didn’t enjoy the food here. It was too sweet to eat more than just a couple bites. We were very disappointed since they are so highly rated.
They offer a nice variety of delicious food. I liked eating here. The employees are always very nice, pricing is fair and the spot is always well organised.
Food was excellent, staff were friendly. Strongly recommend grabbing food here, either take out or dine in.
I have gone here many years. The owner is great and so is the food. It is a classic restored diner so seating is tight. Prices are surprisingly good for Thai food.
I very much liked the dishes and service, excellent area right next to where I live. The staff members are always super nice. I highly recommend this place.
This restaurant offers awesome service and tasty meals. The best place in town. The food and drinks served quick and the prices were reasonable. Highly recommended.
The owner is great and the food is impeccable. I moved here from Ann Arbor, MI, and after visiting all of the restaurants there, Id say both price wise and taste wise this is my favorite restaurant to go to ever.A perfect hole in the wall spot to visit. A small establishment with reoccurring customers, but somehow theres always space to eat.
What a fantastic find! I went to Lanna Thai Diner for the first time today after seeing it listed on Google Maps for a long time. Its actually in a building that used to be a greasy breakfast/lunch diner that I would never have set foot in, converted into a Thai restaurant. Its a beautiful building! The Pad Thai was a just little too sweet but good, full of lots of vegetables and the Green Curry was delicious. We had it with sticky rice, which was a nice addition. (I with they served brown rice, but they dont.) The owner is welcoming and quite funny. We felt comfortable the minute we entered. The prices are quite reasonable and it seems to have quite a local following.I cant wait to eat here again!
Little tiny Thai diner! Loved it! Food tastes great and the people working were very helpful. Fresh ingredients. I would have liked the food a little spicier but that is just my opinion.
Pretty good. I go for lunch here with a Thai friend. She thinks it is good. They are super busy for lunch.
This place is tiny and quaint and delicious. Ive never had a bad experience here. Its disappointing when they go on vacation for extended periods of time but they give plenty of advanced notice. Ive had something different every time Ive been and everything has always been great.
The food is always great here and the owner is super nice. Its a small former diner, so there is a very cozy feel to the place. The menu is delicious Thai food. We usually order strictly vegetarian, which is easy here because anything on the menu can be made without meat or fish on request. There is an assortment of curry dishes that are all delicious. The sticky purple rice and Pad Thai make a perfect accompaniment. Weve enjoyed many dinners in the dining room and its also our favorite place for takeout as well. Lanna Thai is well worth checking out.
This is a find. The outside of this diner belies the quality of the food, which is outstanding. Large portions, too, at easily affordable prices. Also a great place for vegans and dieters. There is parking nearby. And its quiet! You can actually have a conversation. My personal faves is the salmon chop chee.
Delicious food! Good customer service. Small place but nice place. Pick up food is usually ready in about 10 or 15 minutes.
Was there for lunch service. Portion sizes were perfect and the Pad Thai was delicious.Seating is very limited with a few two person table and one four person table. The eat at bar top had room for more if you are eating alone.Prices were just as to be expected and service was prompt and accurate.
This spot always delivers. They have awesome dishes for convenient pricing, there are no long waits even when they are full.
The most authentic Thai food around. Great prices, big plates, and you wont be disappointed. You might have to wait a bit for a table so I suggest to call for reservations. Take out is also an option. Either way its worth the wait
Food is always great! Best Thai I have come across! And the owner, Max, is always friendly and gets to know his customers so you are always well taken care of. He even makes sure to have my fathers favorite drink on hand for when he comes by!Cute little diner cart, small so it gets packed easy but its a cozy neighborhood vibe thats hard to find in an Asian restaraunt!
Great intensely flavorful food. Great options for vegetarians. Small space. Not for big groups. Great prompt service. They close for part of the summer, so check the hours.
My favorite local Thai place. Max runs the place and is both friendly and quirky. The food is generally excellent though Id recommend not getting the more typical dishes like Pad Thai or Drunken Noodle because they arent as Americanized as you may be used to. Feel free to ask for extra spicy if that is your thing. My only complaint is that it closes down whenever Max goes on vacation (but he does let you know a month or two ahead of time).
Im allergic to nuts, but Max (the owner) was great about making sure I could eat something. Max is great and the place has a great vibe. Really tiny, but Id say cozy. Not great for a huge sit-down group just because of the space.
Awesome and yummy food, I liked the mood this place has, and the employees were helpful. Will definitely visit here next time.
Great Thai diner. Friendly service. I always get the chicken pad thai and its always good.
I was excited to try this spot, especially after reading a little of the unique setting. Unfortunately the quality of the food was poor to average (we had Green Curry, Chicken Satay, Spring Rolls), and the service spotty when I visited. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I wouldnt recommend this to those seeking a really good Thai spot.
Quaint and cozy atmosphere. Food is ALWAYS A+. If youre looking for a relaxing place to sit, eat and enjoy a nice hot tea and amazing food, belly up to the bar and bring a newspaper.
Best and freshest food Ive ever had!! Great service. Thanks Max
Great that place but difficult to go because they have very limited hours and go on vacation often. Tom kha is great. Theclear noodles are really Singapore noodles, not the delicious clear yam noodles that I thought I would get. At least for lunch, if you order any noodle dish, you will get a lot of rice with it. You can ask to get all noodles, but they didnt seem to understand my request. The curries are delicious. Probably the best that place Ive found in ma, but difficult to patronize.
We love Lannas! Max is so friendly, and so attentive to his customers. I order Lannas for company lunches all the time and he is more than happy to help me figure out serving sizes and help carry all the trays to my car. The food is terrific!
It was a disappointment. We decided to come here because it had good ratings. Food wasnt good and service was mediocre.
Very good authentic Thai food! Our group had the Pad Thai, Massaman Curry, and Salmon Curry and we thought they were all the best of those dishes weve ever had. Flavors were very well balanced and the service was very friendly.
I have been seeking Thai food since NYC in the late 1970s, when there were very few restaurants outside of California. One of my close friends was Thai and he showed me the way. I have become a huge fan of Maxs Thai Diner for about ten years. The ingredients are carefully sourced and lots of special things are created in-house. There are many great dishes. Pad Thai, Green Curry, Crazy Noodle, Chicken Noodle Curry, Ba Mi Gra Pow.....etc. But, the most epic is CHICKEN CABBAGE!!!!! Be sure to add some red table sauce and get a Thai Ice Tea. :) I have to found better Thai food in Boston the Boston area, and I have looked.
This is a jewel in the rough. The food here is delicious and flavorful and they have great prices. The owner, Max, makes you fell at home. I love this place, I usually eat here twice a week and pick up takeout on the way home at night! If youre a Thai food fan, youll be pleasantly surprised!
Great Thai food, good portions, fast service, difficult street parking. Recommended.
The food was excellent and very authentic. They even have purple sticky rice. We tried the seafood glass noodles with vegetables which were delicious. We also had the very sweet tamarind shrimp.
Ive been coming here about 13 years now? The food is consistently good. Its nice to know what to expect. Good/generous portion sizes. Meat is always tender and the veggies are fresh. The tom yum is basically perfection. Tangy and flavorful, we wish theyd offer it as a large bowl with wide noodles (*hint hint* 😉). I dont think Ive ever had anything bad here. Pad thai, crazy noodles, different curries and the now absent, but sorely missed yum nua salad.A traincar converted into a diner and kept as is, it is fairly small inside and gets packed very quickly by 11:30. Past then, expect to wait in line. Max is a busy bee buzzing around doing the job of host, waiter and bus boy.Its a good place great Thai food.
Tasty food, excellent customer service. Set in a old dinner car, neat place to visit.
I just ate there, and my tummy could not be happier! I tried their Crazy Noodles (their version of drunken noodles) and asked for it with Crispy Duck on top. They were willing to do it, and oh sweet lord was it AMAZING. It came out so fast too! Like 8 minutes later I had a steaming plate of fresh basil leaves and the widest noodles I have ever seen... sweet jesus. Amazing place. Entree plates are around $15, my special was $16.50, and it was worth every penny. The only negative I can think of is that it is incredibly small- like the size of a one-person hotel room kind of small. Most people did take-out, but the waitress was amazingly efficient and competent. Loved it. Cant wait to digest so I can go back!
Delightful decor, pleasant staff. playful yet efficient service. Most importantly the food is superb. The Pad Thai is dynamite!!!
Great guy, great food, great time! Honestly the best Thai food in the area. The restaurant itself is small and has history, its pretty cool. Expect things to look crazy, Max runs it with him and one other, and they do a great job! Busy place because everyone loves the food. I got the Tom yum shrimp, hard to go wrong. And the red curry duck which was perfect! Check it out, if your nearby the price is right
I am loving this place. Not only is the food delicious but well presented, not something I was expecting from a converted boxcar attached to a house. Love how rice dish plates have everything separated and vegetables glow from not being overcooked (still cripsy and not smothered in sauce). My goal is to go through all the dishes in the menu, no disappointments yet. Chicken and Beef dishes are great but my favorites at Lanna are duck which says a lot, since duck is not my favorite meat. Bonus: owner will socialize and help with recommendations.
Some of the dishes here are only quite good, but some are amazing. The Kari Curry is my personal favorite. Im always surprised at how good it is, thinking it couldnt possibly have been as good as I remembered. It is. The owner, the 50s diner ambiance, the decoration make for an excellent overall experience.
The absolute best Thai food Ive ever had, cool dinning atmosphere in a old dinner and the owner Max is such a nice person. Super authentic food and great service! 😉
From the outside the diner doesnt look special but if you go inside it feels like visiting friends, because the owner is such a nice guy and really cares about you.Our food was outstanding too!The mango and sticky rice was great aswell! So was the sticky rice in bamboo.100% Thai! 5 from 5 stars.
Amazing food and amazing owner. The food comes out quick and Max will take care of you. Ive never had a bad experience here.
Very friendly staffs. Service was outstanding. One of the best pad Thai Ive ever had.
Fantastic food. The people here own and run this place because its their passion, and it shows in the food and service.
Lana Thai is something unexpected. It;s such a little place, in a little dining car, but it has real Thai taste. I thought I could eat spicy food, but I was wrong. Do not order something Thai spicy unless you know what youre doing. Also, the purple sticky rice was great. Rice made it into my review. Thats great stuff.
Great Food. Great owner. Best thai food north of Boston
Their food is very tasty and affordable!
We love this little neighborhood place for its quick, friendly service and the yummy pad thai.
Ive been coming here for over 10 years. Try the Spicy Chicken with sticky rice and a Thai iced tea. Max is the greatest host ever!
Delicious, in a quaint little 50s diner setting. Great for Lunch.
Really good food. Authentic. Quick and well priced.
Best Thai place in the area. The dishes arent as sweet as other Thai places which is perfect. Max is also incredibly friendly. Always worth coming back.
Food was great..service was good... definitely going back again.
Service here is fast and friendly, and the food is PHENOMENAL. Best Thai Ive ever had. Just bear in mind that its a small location if youre going during rush hour, you might have a short wait for a table.
My favorite local Thai place. I always get the Pad Thai. 🇹🇭
Best Thai I have ever had. And max is the man.
Excellent basil duck, friendly service, cool ambiance. Dont miss it!
Super delicious, and will accommodate my seafood allergy. Best chicken pad thai ever. Only 2 problems here. The street parking situation is impossible at lunch time. And I know everyone deserves a break, but sometimes they shut down for weeks at a time for vacation. Isnt there a friend or relative that could keep things going when the owner is away?
Food was excellent tight eating quarters but it just made the experience that much better
This restaurant is the best the workers are nice and the food is great
Loved it! Cute little place with excellent food! Its inside an old dinner
Food is always good. Weve had great luck with the daily specials. The owner is really nice and personal.
