People complaining about it being pricey: you get what you pay for! If you want cheap, go to stop & shop deli. This place offers high quality meats with friendly service.

HIGHLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Took a bite of my tough philly cheese steak didnt like it. Talk to the manager “ASHLEY” (who was very rude) and she claim she could not do anything. This place is PRICEY for no reason and THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!! Please do not eat here. Unless you like rude people and tough food.

The guys behind the meat counter are pretty cool. They will do about anything I ask now that they have gotten past my Texas accent.They cut meat to order and cut lots of the meat themselves. They bone the whole Bell and Evans chickens and none are fresher!The quality of the meat is always fantastic. If you want beef or pork, this is the place!One plus is they usually have a small selection of fish. Usually there is an excellent fresh Atlantic salmon, and scallops and occasionally something else. Its is always top quality fish. Ive not found better salmon! There is usually a smoked salmon.I like that they offer frozen food, bread, cheese, some canned items, condiments, etc. so that, other than fresh veggies, you can do one-stop food shopping.I have not tried their deli or prepared foods other than a German-style potato salad once, and it was great.

The meat from here is really delicious but they are not following COVID guidelines well. My partner went in to grab food and most of the employees were either not wearing masks or had them pulled off their mouths and noses, which is not useful for protecting people from germs. Please enforce mask wearing for we come from a high risk family but want good local meat.

Great place, Allan and Judy do an excellent job. Jerrys pickled tongue is to die for. Hand made egg rolls I have eaten here for many years. Great steak and cheese and the burgers are the bomb. The girls at the register are always pleasant.

I went there to purchase lamb chops. Upon arrival I saw the sign that stated to call and place your order. An employee came out and asked if we had placed an order and she proceeded to give us instructions. We are the only car in the lot.I picked up the phone, it rang a good 2 minutes then someone picked up and hung up immediately. My husband called, same thing happened. This went in a couple minutes. Another car pulls up while I dial again. I get a busy signal and the lady in the car next to me is talking on the phone. A few minutes later she gets her order. Several other cars pulled up and the same thing kept happening. Now I will tell you, I was the only person of color in the lot.and they kept hanging up on me. I will not go back there again.

RUDE And cost too much. They dont even out seasoning on the food

Me and my bf spent over 80$ and the butchers were friendly but the women there are awful, mean, rude, worst customer service Ive ever seen.. I didnt say a word when we left and for my bf to complain shows how bad it was.. food is great.. but not worth going to dealing with those women TAKE TO GO

Excellent steak that gets trimmed right in front of you. Want your steak a certain thickness? No problem! Their deli is also excellent. The hot shot is my favorite.

I love this place. I use to deliver meat and other supplies there. For Omaha beef and city line foods. I know what they have. My wife and I was there yesterday about 4:15 pm. We bought 8 lame chops.. Let me tell you fresh very very good. So tender and juicy. Yes you have to go there. The yahoo man.

Where I grew up, these kind of delis were everywhere, so I was happy to find another one here in New Haven, and a great one at that. The food is great, and the employees are very friendly. Plus, they have a nice little dining area in the back. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat.

Very friendly and very helpful when asking questions on how to cook a beef brisket.Even the woman at the counter took out the time to open the already wrapped meat to ease my mind that there were 2 briskets in there. Always loved this place gotta remember to go there seeing I live in Branford it was a distance but totally worth it!!!!

THE PRODUCT:Ok meat market (deli really). I stopped in on Saturday afternoon and they really didn’t have that many better cuts on hand for what you think would be a busy day. They had one small piece NY Strip, a small tail end piece of beef tenderloin less than 2lbs total and a 2-3lb piece boneless ribeye that really looked kinda gray and old to me? a little bit fresh lamb and a lot of chicken and pork. Maybe they keep the good stuff hidden from the buying public? They did have some excellent looking tri-tip with great marbling which I picked up and I will try take pictures and report back. Also, no prime or aged beef in sight?THE SERVICE:There were 2-3 gentlemen waiting on customers behind the counter. I am into steaks so I know my way around a butcher shop, but I like to play it down and see which way the butcher steers me (wink) and see if they try and sell me all high end stuff. Here the guy did point out the great tri-tip which wasn’t the priciest cut in the display.** Added: Im really kind of perplexed with the point some of the reviews here make regarding the fact that AMC will trim the meat for you right there... Is that not what butchers are supposed do, trim and cut meat? If I go to the car mechanic and that person uses a wrench, am I supposed to consider that special service too? Besides, last time I checked, the chain grocery store Stew Leonard’s does same thing and for heck lot less per lb.OVERALL:The place is ok, it really felt kinda like a clickey neighborhood place that has maybe been around along time and lives on the locals and bygone laurels. It had more of an Italian deli feel than a true meat market I think.Prices were about what you’d expect from boutique meat shop, but not outrageous.Would I go back? Probably not. Was not a memorable experience for me and there are far, far better places locally.
