The only shop even willing to touch my old Jennings bow. The owner here actually works on bows, not brands. I respect that and value his input. Hes a down to earth man thats obviously been in the game for a long time. His daughter is also super sweet, and I believe she has a side hustle going on with bow wrist straps. So make sure to support her, and tell her Luis sent you. This is my first year hunting and Im set on using my fathers bow. While it might not be the best choice and Ill struggle a bit, its something I want to do. I have been in and out of this shop for months getting myself ready for this season. While Im sure I could probably buy stuff online and save some cash, I rather support a local place so other young guys my age can find help and not just a place trying to out a $1600 bow in there hands they are willing to work on.Check this place out, at the very least just to jaw jab with the owner and get a feel for it.
I had setup my bow so my son could use it, and by pulling it at an angle he had accidentally caused the string to come off the cams. The owner re-strung and tuned my bow in just a few minutes! I was happy to pay for their time, expertise, and equipment, but they didnt even charge me. I will definitely will be coming back for their indoor range and any future archery needs.
Went in because the bow I purchased from somewhere else had a minor issue after only two uses. Peep sight had fallen out. Extremely helpful. Showed me how it should be installed and didn’t charge me, since it took just a few minutes.I’m new to archery and so I had a ton of questions and they were very helpful and didn’t seemed bothered by it at all.I’m looking forward to seeing their new location and will definitely be my go to when I am ready to upgrade.
Service is professional, reliable, and personable. Strings and accessories are quality products and he doesnt try to sell you things you dont need. As long as hes in business Ill be taking all my archery needs to him.
Stock and selection left much to be desired. No help with recurve hunting gear or advise. Little to no interest in proper customer service or advise. It would be nice to meet a personable pro who knows how to shoot BOTH recurve and compound. Thanks for the disappointing experience guys.
Excellent knowledgeable archery services. Great guys who know and skillfulNote moved over in 2021 to the Walmart area shopping center.
I had a great experience with this business. Im new to archery and bought a second hand PSE. I wanted to get the draw length adjusted for me, but also just wanted to chat about archery, equipment, and forming good habits with some pros. The owner and the bow tech were both incredibly patient and very informative. There were multiple times where they recommended other places to go for equipment that might have a lower price, so I feel pretty confident that they were honest with me. A lot of shops are either dismissive of a new archer or try to oversell things, but not these guys. Oh, and they could probably have a TV show with all of the hilarious banter and insults being thrown back and forth at each other. Will definitely be back when I need more advice or an upgrade on my arrows.
Needed a quick tune and D loop. Very friendly and got me in and out. Will be my go to bow shop from now on.
! NOT ! A smoke shop. But I smoked a wood outside just cause of the name. Got my 5 stars too
Awesome shop, Shannon is a fantastic person to deal with. Straightforward, and willing to spend extra time to make sure everything is perfect for you. Best bow shop in the Woodstock area hands down.
Shannon was most patient and helpful in getting me new strings and a tune for my AR 31. Looking forward to return visits and seeing the new store.
I made a horrible mistake and cut my strings on a brier patch. 100% my fault. When I called the shop Shannon informed me that my strings were still covered by him and that he would replace them. I was so grateful and didnt expect for him to do that in the least just wanted to get my bow fixed. I was so happy with my strings back in the summer when they were initially put on I had no idea my bow could shoot so well and so constant. I wont deal with anyone else from here on out. Absolutely incredible quality and customer service.
Best guy to talk to about bows. Helped me and my son get started and was extra helpful and flexible on our needs!
I have had Shannon working and my bow and my girlfriends bow, as well as getting archery lessons for the each of us and wow for never shooting a bow before he was very quick to give us corrections and instant results. The results have been awesome for our first lessons and first bows. Shannon is a great guy and will go the distance to make sure his customers are satisfied. I have and would recommend this to any of my friends to go check them out.
Fantastic bow shop, highly knowledgeable and super helpful. Like many of the reviews, Im a new shooter and he has helped me tune my bow perfectly. Needless to say, when I break stuff or throw tuning out of whack its only going to one place.
Im a new shooter. Mr. Shannon at Backwoods bowstrings, helped me and continues to help me with all sorts of questions and helpful tips. He put me in several bow types until I felt comfortabl . I did some shopping around at other places to do my research, and I came back to him because of the friendliness and Excellent service. I will continue to be a Happy customer.
Highly recommend Backwood Bowstrings for all of your archery needs. The owner Shannon and his staff go above and beyond to make sure that your needs are met. Im extremely pleased with my service from them and they have a customer for life with me.
I’m new to the area and needed to find a bow shop to get my bow tuned for the upcoming archery season. Luckily, I chose Backwood Bowstrings!!! Mr. Shannon was extremely helpful, had reasonable prices, and overall a pleasure to do business with.
My experience with Backwoods Bowstrings has been nothing less than exceptional. I met Shannon almost 6 seasons ago. He restrung and tuned an old Parker I bought off ebay. It shot like a dream.Ive been looking at PSE for years. Backwoods Bowstrings is the only place I would consider buying any PSE bow from. I finally bought one yesterday. I feel Shannon put me into the right bow for my technique and hunting style.
Awesome guy, very knowledgeable, he does very good work, quick repair, replaced strings, cuts your arrows, takes the time to really make sure your bow is set up, will not go anywhere else to have my bow worked on but here!
Shannon is great....my bow runs like a champ, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. I try to hit the 3D range every weekend, and I’m money every time I do. 🏹
By far best archery shop in area, seriously would not allow anyone else to work on my bow besides this shop. Have been to all surrounding archery shops and their customer service is pretty much nonexistent compared to this place. The main owner knows more than all surrounding shops combined from what I have seen. Good guy too. I have 3 archery shops closer than this one and this is only place I go.
This place is awesome! I went in to get my bow set up, have a replacement peep sight put on, and a new arrow rest put on. I came in close to closing time, the owner (Shannon) was extremely helpful and nice. Prices were extremely affordable, and when I left my card at the store, he held it for me. He even reached out to my bank to let them know what happened. Good people that run a good business. Customer for life.
This place is great! I’ve needed their help on more than one occasion and Shannon took great care of me. I needed some parts for my bow and was willing to buy the more expensive equipment, but Shannon guided me to less expensive but equal in quality parts instead. He also called the manufacturer directly to help get advice and order exactly what parts my bow called for on what I thought might be a catastrophic break. Great service!!
I just had my new bow set up with Shannon @ Backwoods and I would recommend you stopping in for your future archery needs as well. My set up took longer to deal with than most because I chose to customize the color of my new bow more than I should have... Long story short, I learned that if you are not 100% happy with the look of your bow before purchase, go get a different bow! ( I would bet Shannon laughed out loud as he read this...). Anyway, Shannon was patient with the delays and thorough as we went through the set up. Never tried to up sale with any unneeded work or the latest accessories, just provided quality work and sound advice based off how/where I would be using the bow. Good prices, good service, and good folks.
I took my older bow in to have it tuned, replace my old string and basically get it ready for hunting season. I left it with them for 10 days and came back..thats when the issues began. Peep site was not tied in, arrows were cut too short, new site was not installed and the draw length was not adjusted. The best part was..the price for all this quality service..$200. I drove over 40 miles thinking it was worth the effort for the quality service/work...I was wrong.Take your chances and best of luck..not a big fan of their work.
Fantastic people and service. I won’t take my bows anywhere else!!!
Great bow shop! Just got my bow set up. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and answered every question I had. I will return and reccoreco to my friends.
This place is top notch. Shannon the owner is awesome. He took care of my bow fast and it was done right.
A passionate owner and a solid person that treats people right - a great local business purchased a bow and many arrows and accessories, also have bows restrung here excellent work highly recommended
This is the only place that I will go for quality equipment, top notch archery knowledge, and a great conversation. I was told to take my bow to Shannon after another bow shop did their setup and paper tune on it... when I got it back it was obvious it had been tuned (or maybe de-tuned) The before/after of Shannons work told the story on the paper and in my accuracy. Do not waste your money anywhere else come to backwoods first!
I purchased my first PSE bow and it popped the string off in the first week. PSE said to take it to Backwoods bowstring. He found the lower cam was bent. Got it fixed under warranty even though it was not purchased there. Great service and fast turn around.
It is so amazing to have a place like this in Woodstock. I have gotten so much help here. It also keeps my husband away from Cabellas lol.
Extremely knowledgeable and was very help
If you are in need of Bow repair or replacement Backwoods is the place.
Friendly people and close to my house
