Five stars are truly not enough! As a recipient of Kristens care for about a year now I can honestly say I am not sure where I would be without her care. I was a 21 year old, busy college student hit hard by a viral infection that left extremely troubling chronic issues behind. I have been treated by Kristen for several months. I have recently finished up 12 rounds of Chemo.The nausea was unrelenting. I could not take the meds for it because they made me drowsy, and I also experienced an allergic reaction to one of them. The treatments I received from Kristen for my nausea were life changing.I was able to eat more and had a better appetite. But the most amazing thing, was the relief from the nausea. It helped me get through the rest of my treatments without meds.After Kristen treated me for the nausea, I didnt have to take them again. I still have the bottle of pills. I was originally supposed to take them around the clock. Did not need to. I am so thankful I found Kristen. It made the unbearable so much easier. She truly is knowledgeable, patient, and caring. I feel safe, more peaceful, and know that I am in good hands.The chemo treatments are over and there was nothing found on my scans.I no longer have to take Chemo. I have several herniated discs. The neurologist did not recommend any kind of surgery, but rather told me to limit sitting as much as possible, even to the point of standing to do my work on the computer, as I am an online professor. Four months ago, I went on a tour in Europe which involved sitting in a vehicle about six hours a day. By the time I returned home, the back pain was horrendous. I simply did not want to depend on pain medication and did research on alternative therapies. Within just a couple of sessions, I experienced definite relief. I could walk in an erect position, rather than stooped over. I have always suffered with allergies, but one particular day several years ago I was so miserable I could not even enjoy a lunch with my adult children, so it was at that point I decided to try acupuncture, as I had already tried everything else, including monthly allergy shots. Prompted by a friend & client of Kristens, I relunctantly & quite fearfully began treatments over a year ago. Ive always been terrified of needles so my anxiety level was beyond high my first time. Now? I am so over that fear & anxiety to the point it has carried over to my dental procedures...ordeals I used to become ill just pondering and when attending such. I have been seeing Kristen for less than 2 months for chronic pain in my neck, back, hips and ribcage. My right ribcage has something known as 12th rib syndrome. I could not walk, lie down or sit without excruciating rib pain. Last week, I mentioned to my husband that not only had I not had to take a pain killer in two weeks, I hardly even noticed the smallest aggravation.Over the last 5 years, I had been to 2 chiropractors, 3 acupuncturists, 3 MDs and a pain management doctor. No one knew what it was or why I hurt. Nor could they fix me. A 5 second google last month easily found my very common problem, for which there is no fix but only ongoing cortisone injections. Since those did not work on my hip (impinged nerve) or neck (herniated discs) or levoscoliosis, I was fairly certain they would not work on my ribs. Plus, they are time consuming and costly.I am 58 and too young for chronic pain. This is the first time in 6 years I feel hope that I won’t have to live the rest of my life hurting. Even if you have tried acupuncture elsewhere, think about giving Live Oak a try. As I have learned, there is a vast difference in practitioners and treatment plans.

Kristen is a highly competent practitioner, and I value her care tremendously. She is an extraordinary listener, so when you present with a problem, she probes until she is certain she knows precisely the nature of the complaint. She is an extraordinary educator, because she explains what the treatment will be, and how it will work. Finally, she is warm and trustworthy. I cannot sing her praises loudly enough!

As someone who has had to learn how to live with a chronic illness, Kristen has been an invaluable resource for me. After exhausting all traditional western medicine had to offer, I rolled into Live Oak Acupuncture in my wheelchair extremely skeptical she could do anything to help. Im so glad I was wrong! Kristen was quick to point out that in her experience, people with chronic illness often benefit from the holistic approach of eastern medicine and that a lot of her patients fall into the last resort category. I came to Kristen as a last resort with allergies as well as problems with balance and not able to walk with out pain. What she was able to accomplish was for me huge. There are not enough words I can say about Kristen and what she has done for me. I initially thought I could never do acupuncture because I am absolutely terrified of needles. Ive had allergy problems my whole life. Multiple sinus infections every year, I was constantly tired from all the antihistamines (even those that said non-drowsy). I took allergy shots from about junior high till I moved to Oklahoma, where I was blessedly allergy free. But when I moved back to central Texas it all started again. I had hit my breaking point and was looking at going back to allergy shots, which I hated because I always had a reaction to them. I saw a news clip about someone getting acupuncture for their allergies and thought Why not? Either way Im getting stuck with needles! I loved it!! Immediately I saw results, I was not longer walking around in a hoodie in the middle of summer because I was constantly freezing! I now have maybe one sinus infection every couple of years, I had one a couple of months ago. Probably because I have not been able to get over for a session in a year because of work. I read somewhere that new beginnings are often disguised as painful endings. That’s exactly how I would describe the 25 year journey that lead me to the door of Kristen Horner Warren. My daughter was born with a severe intellectual disability compounded by a seizure disorder and a congenital heart defect that at 25 years old, left her intubated in the ICU, dependent on a ventilator, and our family making the decision the move her to hospice care. My daughter made it out of hospice care with a weakened cardiorespiratory system, the cognitive level of a 2-4 year old, only saying a few words that most people couldn’t understand, and unable to walk a few steps without falling. Her prognosis was described as poor.I sought out acupuncture treatments to reduce her pain and suffering and hopefully strengthen her immune system in order to keep her out of the hospital. She has been seeing Kristen now for two years and the results are truly astounding. Her cognition is improved by 4-6 years, speech language improved by 3-5 years! I came to Live Oak Acupuncture six months after my diagnosis with a very advanced stage of premature ovarian failure –one of the hardest diseases in the world to treat or have hope for. Kristen has been an immense source of knowledge and help for our family during various health issues.
