Universal always had the best service and quick shipping. The selection of radios 📻 and accessories were top notch too. Im so sad 😥 that they are going out of business. I wish they couldve found a buyer for their business.

Some of the best prices Ive seen online - and right in my backyard. The place to go for anything radio. Website is decent but lacks a modern search function so use Bing or Google to find stuff on their site. Love chatting with the staff. Only down side is that Im allergic to cats and the place is full of them.

This place is great. Josh say down with me for 45min. What a great place to get educated about ham radio. And buy some coax.Nice to have a ham retail location in central Ohio.

What Radio Shack started out as....... only better! The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful regarding equipment choices. The showroom is better than most similar radio oriented stores, which is great for being able to test drive new radios. Their expertise in shortwave listening is second to none that I have found. You wont find a one-size-fits-all (or none) approach, they take the time to talk with each customer and tailor a package to their individual needs/wants.

I have only great things to say about these folks. Josh has helped me through the process of being a new ham and picking my first radio and accessories and then later helped me with choosing pieces and parts for a home base station. Very knowledgeable, patient and polite.

I just stopped in the store today for the first time. Im new to Columbus and wanted to check out the local ham radio store. Ive been a ham radio operator for about 7 years. I was surprised how small the store was compared to other ham radio stores Ive been to but the service here is stellar. John one of the assistants at the store spent over an hour with me while I asked questions and bounce ideas off of him. Even though the store was small they still had the correct adapters and parts to install a roof-mounted antenna on to my truck. Again the service was very good and I will be back.

I live nearby and have shopped in-store quite a few times. The staff are always attentive and helpful. Their prices are usually on-par or better than their competitors and everything comes carefully packaged. Universal Radio is my first stop whenever Im looking for any kind of ham equipment.

Most excellent help in determining the correct antenna for my needs. Very knowledgeable staff including a rather niche subject, Linux in the shack. 10/10, will shop again!

Busy lil store. Staff was outstanding ! Although they did not have everything I wanted in stock, they said they could get whatever I need. I drive a big rig, and store is accessible ; unlike most all the HROs. They have won me over.

I have been a customer of Universal Radio since the 1980’s when I was a serious SWL and Utility Monitor. They have always had exceptional service and support of the products in their offering. Fred is one of the most knowledgeable people in the industry and has authored many books to prove it. They carry radio related products and books you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. I live in Texas but am fortunate to travel through the area for work at least once a year, which results in a visit. N5AAR

Show room was a little sparse. They deal mostly in web and mail order. Good one on one service. Price was good on goods purchase.

Good selection of products; almost too much. However, it takes days to ship an item, when their competitor ships in hours. Also, some of their products are questionable; one manufacture told me that the configuration of a certain antenna Universal was selling was not authorized by the manufacture, and it was not a surprise that it didnt work for me.

This is the best ham radio shop I have ever been to. Staff is amazing they dont try and upsell you. They give great advice and are just awesome staff.

Had just what I needed for Field Day.

Univeral Radio is one of the best places in the country to go for anything from a RF connector or cable to a shortwave radio or ham transceiver. They have a good selection of radio books and magazines, a nice used equipment section, and friendly service. If you are a ham or radio hobbyist, this is the place to shop!

Same great customer service in a new smaller showroom. They definitely downsized but still have tons of radios on display and a killer website.

I stood at their counter for 15 min with $100+ in antenna equipment, ready to purchase. The two people behind the counter gabbed about hashing, talked on the phone, etc., but never even acknowledged me. I finally restocked the items I had chosen, and left the store. Not a single word was spoken to me in the 30 min I was there. No way I will make the 45 min drive again just to be ignored.

New location for Universal. Much smaller than previous locations. Helpful staff.

I love this place!I am new to ham radieo, and went there just to look at hts, and snoop at real radios.I knew what I wanted, and what I could afford. Left with a ft 60r.Anyway, went back for antennea help and poor Fred was lucky enough to have to deal with me.I wanted to put a j pole on my telescope tripod, connected to my ht. To make a long story short,(after Fred went back to the warehouse 28 times) I put out 4 watt @ 1.3:1
