5 years ago we had Westco Flooring install carpet in our store in Monroe, WA. They did an excellent job at that time, so when we opened our 2nd store in Bellevue, we reached out to them to have the same product installed. The carpet was still available, we explained the size of the space was 4783 sq. ft. but that some of that area was bathrooms and a break room, so we would not need all carpet, and we had the representative Dan Vargas visit the space prior to ordering the carpet to confirm measurements. He explained the carpet needed to be ordered, and we paid 50% of the cost upfront, which was fine. We ordered far enough in advance for the carpet to arrive and be stored in their warehouse until installation was to take place. Once we finished the construction and it was getting close to needing the installation, we contacted Westco to setup install. Dan was able to get us scheduled fairly quickly. When the carpet installation guys showed up, they were waiting for the carpet to be delivered. A couple hours later it was. They explained it would be a 2-3 day installation, which was right in-line with my expectations and would work out well for the rest of our setup. Each day that we were not open could represent potentially thousands of dollars in revenue, so our goal was to open as quickly as possible. The guys finished their work the first day, with only about 20% of the carpet installed. They said they were waiting on the other roll to be delivered. Why it wasnt delivered altogether beats me. The next day the other roll was delivered, and they began working. I had an electrician that was waiting on getting back into the space until the carpet installation was complete, and he was delayed. After the 2nd day, they RAN OUT OF CARPET and I was contacted by Dan to explain that he had located additional carpet and was trying to get it expedited, but that it would take 4-5 days. After 5 days, I contacted Dan, which he explained that they were trying to unload the shipment, and should be available later that day. The end of the day passed, and no carpet. The next day I contacted him again, and the carpet guys werent able to get access to the carpet until after 1:00pm, and began working until late in the evening. They finished the carpet on the 9th day from the date scheduled for installation. The final roll that was used seems to be a slightly different thickness, perhaps it was newer and not left rolled up as long, I dont know. The seems dont look super. Our Monroe store you can barely see any seems, but the Bellevue installers must have been in a hurry to finish as they had already been extremely delayed by one botched job and did not do a super job on the seems. I was busy with other store setup, and did not have time to follow up on the seem issue until a couple weeks later when I finally received the final invoice. I contacted the rep Dan, and mentioned the seems. He asked if I wanted to wait until the warranty work was done to fix the seems before I paid the final invoice, I said No, as long as it was scheduled. It is now 3 weeks later, no seem repair, and no follow up. I was not offered any compensation for the lost time or inconvenience. The only reason they receive 2 stars is because our first experience 5 years ago was great, but it seems they service level is not what it once was. We plan to open 5 more stores over the next 7 years if everything goes to plan, and you can guess who we will NOT be using for carpet.
