I found Carl and the guys at Bowie Shell to be expert mechanics, friendly and trustworthy characters to boot. They did my work quickly and called as soon as it was finished. They went out of their way to get my road hazard insurance paid out to me after a recent blowout on a new tire. I find their charges to be more than fair and would have anyone who likes fair, friendly, and exceptional service give Bowie share a try.

This is the finest shop in PG County Maryland. Carl the Service Manager is is extremely knowledgeable. He is honest and up front about what types of services and repairs are necessary for your vehicle. The price for the work is fair and is completed in a timely manner. The mechanics are also hard working and very skilled. I highly recommend them to all family and friends!

I had an excellent experience at Bowie Shell. Carl conducted the state inspection on my van today and changed the oil. It only took a few hours. He contacted me to give me an update on my vehicle, and the price was reasonable. I will definitely return for additional services.

I moved to Bowie within the last 2 years and found myself in need of a auto shop near my home. I recently found this Bowie shell while surfing the internet. I took my car in for a state inspection and was fairly pleased except for the fact that they failed me for a small crack along the bottom of my tail light. The crack was along the trim and did not create a malfunction in the light itself. Otherwise I was pleased with the service and the staff.

My vehicle was finished the same day I dropped it off and the vehicle wouldn’t start when I brought it in. The only reason it wasn’t able to be picked up was because the mechanic saw that my wheel was inches from falling off! I have an infant! The guy could have saved our lives by finding that, god forbid I was on a highway with my baby and the wheel came off. Will definitely be bringing all my vehicles in the future here. They were also just plain nice which means a lot to me. The ladies at the front counter are always playing with my baby and chatting with me, asking how we’re doing. The mechanic seemed competent, he knew his stuff for sure and did his best to explain it to me in laymen’s terms. I can’t say enough about this place. I came here because they had such good reviews and I wasn’t sure they’d live up to all the hype but they exceeded my expectations. It was unfortunately a little pricey but my SUV needed ALOT of work in order to be safe again so I don’t feel ripped off or anything.

This is the first time I’ve brought my car here, the staff was so professional and courteous ( which means a lot to me because my job creates a lot of stress on me, and I don’t need nobody else to add to that)....I loved the updated phone calls they kept giving me periodically so I would not have to worry while I was at home waiting on my car to be serviced, and they were attentive to what I asked them about my car without any resistance, they were genuinely concerned with what I wanted done to my car and didn’t have no other outside agendas.

Im completely satisfied with the service we received from the Bowie Shell for our 2002 Honda Accord. I had some emergency work done at the local Honda dealership and upon completion of work I was presented with a list of about $3,500 worth of things that needed to be taken care of within the next couple of months. After taking a look at the car, the mechanic Carl, advised me that none of the work had to be done right now but within the next year and I was quoted prices on the work well below that of the dealership. He did recommend new tires which we purchased. We will absolutely be going back to the Bowie Shell for future work on our cars. Thanks for the honesty!

Back in 2002 when I was in highschool, I wrecked my 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Destroyed the entire front suspension. I brought it to a dealer that quoted almost $6000 for the repairs. Ron and Carl where able to fix it right for about $1700 dollars. From reading the reviews 17 years later these guys are still here at the same shop, doing the same great work, and service. Its amazing in a world when local repair shops have mostly dissapeered due to dealerships and corporate tire chains this place has survived and the same employees Ron and Carl are still here. Sign of a good business and good people. Ditch the dealer and give these guys a shot you wont be dissapointed.

Our pick up broke down in Bowie. I found this station online and read some positive reviews so I contacted them. We managed to get the truck to the station. They were friendly and helpful, calling us the next day to tell us what was wrong. The pricing seemed fair, the service was needed, and they replaced the water pump and thermometer all in one day. We were finished within 24 hrs of bringing on the truck, unannounced.I found their service to be very open and honest. I can definitely recommend them and would use them on the regular if they were in our community. Nice people, honest, straightforward service.

I have use their service at least 3 times in the past month. They over charge me every single time. No matter the service (oil change/tire repair /inspection) it doesnt matter. I challenge anyone who has giving these guys 4* to compare their price to ntb/mr tire/dealer. I guarantee shell price will be at least $20 dollars. The funny thing is when you inform them they are higher than the dealer...they dont understand. Hey if you like being overcharge please give this Shell a call.

I am writing to share a small episode at the Bowie Shell station located at Route 450 and Superior Lane, where I have taken my cars for years. The other day, I was leaving the Bowie Senior Center over near the Town Center. An older woman was standing at the curb, looking at her vehicle. I could see it had a flat, front tire. She looked a little flustered and said I dont know what to do. I drove my own car in back of hers, took out my electric air pump, and inflated her tire. I told her she needed to have the tire looked at right sway or else it would go flat again. I asked if she had a specific service station she would go to. She did not. I suggested that she follow me to the Bowie Shell station. When we walked in, I explained the problem to Carl Bethke, the service manager. He paused for a minute, saying all the mechanics were at lunch. Then he told me to drive the ladys car around to the middle bay. He left his office area and met me at the bay. He sprayed the tire, found the leak, and plugged it himself. The senior lady (who told me she was 88) paid a nominal fee and off she went. I was just so pleased that Mr. Bethke would recognize a vulnerable person and was able to be flexible and reach out and assist. So the moral of the story is, if you have a wife, a mother, an adult daughter - you can feel confident referring them to this service station, where they would be treated considerately.
