This shop is amazing. I cant wait to go back!
Loved inching through the quiet stacks of comics here, so many treasures to discover
Great place! The selection is amazing and the owner is the sweetest
Just tell the staff what youre interested in and youll have something new to read in your hands before youve finished your sentence. Love this place and the staff are awesome, everything theyve recommended has been a new favorite. Great selection on manga, comics, and graphic novels.
A wonderful friendly local comic shop with a lot of heart and great staff. After COVID forced me to relocate out of state, they have been incredibly helpful in getting my subscriptions sent to me. Cant recommend them enough!
Tony is incredibly nice and provides a great customer experience. I cant recommend this place enough.
Stellar service. Store was very responsive over email and phone; the entire process was a breeze. They were very willing to work out pickup vs. delivery options and had everything I was looking for in stock. Thanks, Picnic!
Definite for comic fans. This comic shop is small for a US Store, but crikey, they fit in a lot. They have a huge stock and the guys at the desk know their stuff. I’d love them to expand (I know, it’s tough) and my most recent visit they seemed to be working hard to get more order on the back issue area. I found a bargain and was quite pleased. Always worth a visit.
Wonderful experience buying books for a course. Tony is delightful and I am excited to come back just for fun.
This comic book shop nestled in the heart of Harvard Square is reminiscent of the stores of the past. Small and unassuming, with a focus on the actual comic books, rather than the toys or other items. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Parking is challenging in Cambridge, but this location is a one-minute walk from the MBTA red line Harvard station.
The Million Year Picnic continues to delight, while the larger chains with their acute (and cynical) sense of marketing to a certain demographic take over the increasingly gentrified surroundings that are taking away the character of what Harvard Square once was. Wonderfully curated selection, and a very knowledgeable and kind owner: if you are fortunate enough to visit while he is in the shop, you will want to stay longer!
Tiny shop with a huge heart. Newer single issues run along the back wall and several bookcases in front house a well curated mix of graphic novels. They range from kid friendly to mainstream superhero to eclectic indies. Art books and back issues occupy one side of the store and on the other side is a section for mature readers. All within a space the size of my living room. The staff is friendly and helpful. This is my favorite comic book store.
Million Year Picnic is the best comic shop in the Boston area for comics. Comicazi in Davis is awesome, and has more games and figures than Million Year Picnic. But if you are really into comics both mass market and indies, Million year Picnic is place. It has been there for decades and feels like it in a really good authentic way. It is one of my favorite shops to visit and browse.
I heard many great things about this hidden gem, I went in and I was disappointed. Yes they did have a bunch of graphic novels and comic books to choose from. However, I was surprised that they did not have your classic comic books. They didnt even have many older editions for collectors. Most of the stuff in there I have not heard of. That may be great to the people that like new or foreign comics but for the reviews I read about this place I was expecting much more.
This may be my favorite comic book shop EVER. They have a wonderful range of both DC/Marvel superhero classics AND a diverse selection of indie stories. Cant wait to go back!
I was looking for comics for my 8 year old girl. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I really appreciate the customer service and expertise of the staff. This store is a treasure in Harvard Square. I am a big fan and now a loyal customer.
Fantastic local spot tucked away in Harvard Square. There are so many wonderful books to choose from here - art books, graphic novels, comics, etc. Its cozy and the selection is pretty astounding. Make sure and drop in here even if youre not a comic nerd. Its likely youll find something to love.
Great selection. The dude who runs the place is great, last time I was there and he got me to buy my boyfriend is a bear which was friggin adorable and he was playing the gorillaz. Stop in, you’ll love it.
Best Comic Shop In Cambridge, great people, great environment, and great comics!!!!!!!
Apparently the oldest comicbook store in New England, and one of the oldest in the country. Absolutely packed with trades, hard-to-find European hardcovers, and, of course, monthlies. Its mostly underground (literally!) so keep your eyes on the ground so you wont miss it.BTW, the people are really friendly.
This is kind of like my 2nd home. Ive had a crap day but as soon as I walk in here its like a weight is lifted from my shoulders. Ive been shopping here since 1997 when we moved out to Boston, but would also make a trip when we visited the city. Great service, a little tight, but chock-full (perhaps over-full?) of great comics, graphic novels, books, art & art-instruction books, toys and t-shirts. If you sign up with their subscription service you get 20% off the cover price! Make the trip.
Great little store with a wide variety of titles.
This was the first comic book store I went to as a young kid back in 1982. Brought back memories and a lot of nostalgia ! Got to love this place.
Best comic book store in Cambridge or Boston. Best staff, too.
I love this spot such a cool shop is absolutely packed with comics and books, I like to walk around and I always end up buying something because theres always something unique
Great customer service, great selection, great location
This place is a comic goldmine! Theyve got plenty of current and local comics and back issues of tons of different series! The staff is really knowledgable and a great help. Love this shop!
By no means a Newbury Comics size wise. This cozy shop makes up for it by providing not only the friendliest staff in my years of visiting comic shops, but also by providing one of the best and biggest comic book selections out there. From kid-friendly comics to European graphic novels, to indies to Manga and even an adult section. You can almost play the Cheers song in your head coming down those stairs, because it the staff extends you a warm welcome and make you feel like you just drop by a friends house. You wont find endless rows of music,t-shirts,toys and other(frat boy/hipster) swag here. All though you will find some shirts and figures peppered out in the store. But if its comics you are looking for, this is the place.
I havent been here in many years, but when I used to frequent the place in my comic collecting days the staff was great, and I, liked the selection. I loved combing thru the old issues and their subscription service was awesome.
This place has fantastic selection for independent comics and zines, and a decent selection for your superhero fare (DC, Marvel, Image, etc.). However, the service is absolutely horrid. It took me 15 minutes to purchase my books, the person at the front desk was a creeper and was hitting on my girlfriend, and when we asked for a specific book he simply shrugged his shoulders.
Fantastic selection of comics, graphic novels, and related books that will thrilled any reader of sequential art. The staff are very friendly, and will help you find exactly what you are looking for.
Best comic shop Ive been to if youre looking for eclectic fare.
Fantastic comic book shop, I always find something I didnt know I was looking for.
Best comic book store I have ever been to. Not even a competition!
Best comic store in the Cambridge area, and they always know better than me what Im looking for. For comic book aficionados, definitely make this stop.
Ignore Newbury comic, Million year picnic has far and away the best selection of comics in the Boston Area. Beyond the standard hero comics and manga, theres a huge selection of European and Indie Comics (theres even an adult section for the brave). The staff is extremely knowledgeable and willing to help. They will also order comics for you and allow subscriptions.
Indie comics, graphic novels, and trades co-exist beautifully with those from the bigger companies, all housed in a ramshackle yet easily navigable house of wonder. My shop of choice for comics in Boston/Cambridge
The guy was either tired of people browsing or maybe he was having a bad day. Either way, doesnt mean he need to make snarky remarks if people decided they didnt find anything they wanted that day.Basically all we did was look around and as we were walking out he had to make a rude comment.
Friendly staff whos very knowlegable about the comics they sell. Provide great recommendations and are vey keen on finding any comics that your collection is missing. Also, they are definitely not dont-touch-book-covers freaks. Just go check out and sign-up for subscriptions.
Best comic shop period.
I dont get to go to MYP often because its in Cambridge and Im not, but when I do go to Harvard Square I always make it a point to stop in. It can get a little crowded at times, but for the most part its easy enough to move around the stacks and shop. The staff is always on top of things and have always been really friendly.
Love this comic shop. Small, but great selection. Very friendly staff.
From Kansas City here and I always have to stop in when I’m visiting. One of my favorite places!!
Despite the small store, the selections great and the staff is always helpful and willing to help track down anything you cant find on the shelves. Theyve also got an excellent selection of local and indie comics.
Best comic shop in Harvard Square!
Neighborhood comic book store with a great selection of new and used books
Just great selection and great customer service.
Great little comic book store packed to the ceiling with cool and classic odds and ends
Great comic book store great selection of old out of print marvel comics and old dc comics. I found some great Amy comics here like gi combat dc and marvel the nam.The staff know a lot about movies too and comic book movies.
Great selection; the dude who runs the place is dope, and so is the music. Tenouttaten experience.
Nice little store that offers weekly releases, graphic novels and manga amongst many other things.
I can only say so many great things about this cozy and humble little treasure trove of a comic shop. I stopped subscribing to my old comic shop and opened up a subscription at Million Year Picnic. This adds roughly 15 minutes to my commute to get comics and it is worth it to me. They are THAT awesome. So, first off yes by cozy I mean small. Its a downstairs little mom and pop comic shop. BUT, while it is small it also houses one of the most impressive and diverse selections of the comics, graphic novels, manga, and even carries some merchandise/action figures. Every time I walk in there I not only usually find what Im looking for, but will also sometimes come across a graphic novel that is out of print and some schemer is trying to sell for twice to three times the cover price on Ebay. No matter what kind of day Im having, I always enjoy browsing the selection here at Million Year Picnic. On top of that, FANTASTIC store soundtrack. Ive heard jazz, classic R&B, even mambo music which keeps the warm shop environment spirited and positive. When it comes to customer service, very few comic shops can match the friendly and knowledgeable employees Tony, Kelly, Adam, and Michael. Always ready to greet customers with a warm hello and making sure they are taken care of. Need help looking for something or a recommendation? They will exhaust their resources in assisting you. Cant find what youre looking for at the shop but its in print? They will be happy to special order it for you. This superpowered team of comic clerks are on a mission to defeat any negative stigma that might be applied to a comic shop.Anything negative to say? Well...I mean, if youre a collector looking for SUPER rare, horrifyingly expensive comics to seal in a bag and NEVER open, this is probably not the store for you. Sorry.I would recommend Million Year Picnic to all folks. Seasoned comic readers, new comic readers, indy comic readers, cape comic readers, comic readers looking for something new to get into, someone that has never picked up a comic in their life but wants to start. ALL are welcome and encouraged to check out Million Year Picnic. Its a wonderful local storefront that supports the community and is an exemplary, positive contribution to the geek community. Also, their name comes from a Ray Bradbury short story which is pretty cool.
Small, nice selection. A bit disorganized but thats part of the fun.
Comics piled high to the ceiling. You could really get lost in this place for awhile exploring through all the titles. Very Comic Book Store feeling to it...
Cool people, great selection, especially notable for large variety of kid-friendly comix
Lovely, informative, friendly staff!
My favorite comic book shop in the Boston area.
Try the place. If you like comics, you wont be disappointed.
