We (my husband and I) want to tell you what a pleasant and successful experience we had at Bard Optical in Champaign, Il. I called yesterday to get information and prices and see how soon my husband could get in for. a eye exam for new glasses because he was desperate since he broke his frames and he wears trifocals and cant get along without glasses. The office girls got him in today. They were so helpful and very polite and knowledgable. Today we worked with Becky and she was so easy to work with and really knew her products. We ended buying two pairs . My husband was very pleased with the Dr.that gave his eye exam Dr. Twenhafel. Very professional and good at her profession. It is good to see people who know and give good customer service. Thanks Bob and Carol Rhodes
Staff was very rude, and condescending. Also, ruined my eyeglasses! I came in the office to have my eyeglasses adjusted, as I purchased the eyeglasses there, they had a unique frame that I wanted, and I PAID dearly for the designer pair. I was moving the next week to Arizona, the frame/arms had gotten slightly bent. The person who finally helped me, rolled her eyes, and then just bent the arms upward and handed them back, then charged me! You can see the hardware was bent where the screw attached the arm. I moved, and have been battling keeping the screws in the bent arm/frame since. The crews were never loose until the clerk/person bent the arms. I am constantly having to tighten the screw until finally one day, the screw would no longer tighten. Today the screw just fell out. I cant do anything with it since I am now in Arizona.
The optometrist was amazing! She was informative, detail oriented, and patient. However, the staff made me feel singled out and burdened by my presence at every visit. I felt I had been discriminated. When I returned to pick up my glasses, I questioned the thickness of the lens of one pair and they kept popping out of the frame. I literally could not wear them! When I asked that they be returned, because the glasses could not be worn, they refused to even check into it! I will not return to this facility.
Both of the CS reps have very little understanding in actual Customer Service. Up selling should be left for the mall. Looking forward to finishing my business & not returning again. Would not recommend to others.
Excellent care was given to me at my recent eye exam.I was very impressed by their attention to Covid protocol by Bard Optical Staff they are committed to the care and safety of their patients it is much appreciated!
Love this place, stuff are really helpful and friendly,
Rude and unprofessional staff. My 5 year old was anxious about his first eye exam and this experience made it so much harder for him. The optometrist was short and unwelcoming. She did not make any attempt to explain procedures to him or ask if he knew all of his letters. I called a few days later regarding an insurance issue and that was handled very unprofessionally. We will not be returning.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ophthalmologist was very knowledgeable. The payment/insurance process was quick and easy. The staff did well explaining the insurance and breaking all the prices to me! Definitely would recommend this location and look forward to continuing to go through Bard Optical for all my future vision needs.
They stole my eyeglass lenses. I was promised I would get them back (since they were in near mint condition), if they took my existing frames for new lenses. When I asked what happened, the lady denied that I ever asked for them back or that they could even give them back. Buyer beware!
If I could I wouldnt give a star at all. Horrible service for my whole family. They are very unprofessional and rude. They discriminate against people who get state covered vision insurance. My mother and son both receive this type of insurance (because like people who receive that type of insurance, actually need it). My sons insurance covers replacement glasses and I reported that he needed a new pair and they NEVER replaced them. Every time I called they would push the order date back. My son went without glasses for 4 months. My mother recently went in to get her glasses and a lady yelled at her in the store in front of customers because of the type of insurance she had. I will NEVER go back!!
Prompt service getting a glasses repair. Thanks Jeanne
They charged my insurance $124 then said my copay was another $40. I skeptically paid them and checked my insurance later. My insurance does cover an eye exam with no copay. I later heard a person come in and ask for an estimate for an eye exam. The lady said she had no insurance. They told her that the exam would be $59. (Why was my insurance company charged $124?) Not only that but they were trying to make me pay $330 for glasses when I knew my insirance covers $250. The optician that was supposed to help me his name was Matt. Stay far away from him. I will never be returning, which is sad because I was a longtime customer.
The desk clerk was so rude, her name was Becky!! She made a snarky comment about our conversation to another employee, right in front of me! Rolled her eyes and acted as if I was a bother to her.. ruined my whole day!!!! Do not recommend!!!!!!
While the exam itself was good, the extras that they tack on to your bill are inflated making insurance almost pointless. If youre not careful you could pay hundreds! The range of frames available are very limited compared to other places.
They seem to look down their noses at everyone who doesnt fit their profile of successful. I have received several pairs of glasses from them and all of them I have had difficulty with. Nose pieces coming off, earpieces that the screws will not remain tightened in. I feel they pad their bills with a lot of extra tests that are completely unnecessary. Some of the people who work in this office should take refresher courses in working with the public.
The glasses are crappy. My glasses keep bending and paint came off. They want to charge you $100 for frames that are made with cheap materials. There selections is vary small. Go some where else save your time and money.
I was trying to call and make an appointment but they wouldnt accept my phone call and I wasnt calling collect. Im calling from overseas. Great!!!
This company submits inflated invoices to insurance companies, who then bill you for what they wont cover. If I had simply walked in as a first time customer, it would have been cheaper for me to have a discounted eye exam at $50.00. Instead, Bard charged my insurance company nearly $100 for it, and I had to pay the difference - another $50.00. The staff are sharks, and the range of frames is lousy and unbelievably overpriced.
I have a very difficult eye prescription, and the optometrist there (Dr. Danielle Keith) did a remarkable job fitting me into contact lenses. She paid attention to my specific needs, asked all the right questions, listened to my description of how lenses were or were not working, and fitted me with contact lenses that fit better, work better, and are far more comfortable than ANY I have ever used before (and I have used contacts on and off for over 20 years). She is very knowledgable about the latest contact lenses available (including multifocal contacts, newer materials, etc.) and made excellent suggestions as to what I should try. At her suggestion, she fitted me with bifocal contact lenses that work wonderfully, even tho other doctors said that I would never be able to use them with my eye conditions. Also, other doctors insisted that I had to either use toric (astigmatism correcting) contact lenses—which have never worked well for me in the past (uncomfortable, always moving out of position and blurring)—or wear rigid contacts, but she was able to fit me with soft non-toric contacts that work better than any toric pair I ever tried, and which are SO comfortable. To get this good fit, I had to go through many trial contacts, and the entire staff at this Bard Optical location were VERY patient and efficient as I called to report how contacts were or were not working, and they ordered new trial contacts as needed.
Was in need of an exam and some temporary contacts before going out of town.... Yes, they got me right in and very professional.
Best Eye Exam Ever!
The worst damn place on earth my daughter was the only person there and they made her wait an hour the staff rude and disrespectful everyone need to be fired
I cant even call without hearing attitude...
