Run, dont walk away from this place. Builder referred me to them in March. After significant delays on the build of my home it was finally ready to close in June!..... all except for the lights. Fast forward as we enter November and we are still missing 5 light fixtures including the kitchen pendant lights which are a fairly significant portion of a homes ambiance. No return calls. 425k home with bottom of the barrel lighting company.
Very nice when you get a hold of someone. They need more hours and employees. Julie was very nice.
Sales person was more interested in training g the new associate then showing us lighting options....pulled the computer screen away from us to show her what to do and look for while we sat there and waited.....also explained that we needed pendelent lighting on a bar with a swivel for a vaulted ceiling.. continued to tell me I was wrong.....I explained that I gave hung these before, but she still insisted I was wrong.....so I left there very frustrated....went to Northern Lighting and explained what I needed...they were extremely helpful...told them what had happened at you store and they said the same thing I did...A SWIVEL IS FOR HANGING ON A VAULTED CEILING...will never be back in your store......ever...very rude and unprofessional....wish I could give you a 0.
AVOID THIS COMPANY!If you are building and the builder tells you to work with Capital Lighting, find another lighting vendor. We were building with Romanelli and Hughes. Worked with Sheila to get our lighting order in August. We were told they would work with us on planing and we had very little interaction and had a hard time getting them to call us back. We specifically wanted to make sure that lights we ordered were in stock. I was assured by Sheila after a few weeks of not being able get a hold of her that they were all in stock and we would have everything in October. When many of the lights arrived, we noticed several on back order. We tried calling Sheila and as of December 20th we still do not have 2 lights. Plus we are missing bulbs and have some glass fixtures missing that have been promised. We have also NEVER received a call back from Sheila after leaving at least 8 voice mails. If you are lucky, she may answer the phone and tell you everything is coming soon and on it’s way, but it is December and we are still missing several items that we ordered as well as one broken fixture that is on back order.Long story short, find somewhere else to buy your lighting and if forced to go through capital, do not trust any information they give you.
I went here over a big box store as their selection is 10x larger and you get real customer service! My new fan came in quickly and was notified immediately when I could come in to pick it up. Everyone was masked and helpful.Ive shopped here multiple times and have always had a good experience.
Impossible to get ahold of anyone for literally months. Prices were about what you’d find anywhere. Sometimes more. Really frustrating experience.
Excellent selection of lighting for the entire house... love this place, its our go to place for the remodeling projects were going through at home! 😁👍
Its a good place to look around if youre planning to drop at least $250 on each light fixture. Most of their display pieces are towards the trendy/artsy end of the spectrum and the median price reflects that position.
Capital did a good job on my new home build. If youve got an appointment theyre great, prices are reasonable. If youre going to walk-in, plan for the worst, there is very little order, almost as if they have never had a wait on a Saturday or Sunday. We also had an occasion where they could find our desired light on their website, but not the ordering system. Thats a problem.
I highly recommend working with Meena; She is amazing! I was overwhelmed with the all the choices and coordinating light fixtures with my decor. I took pictures & video of our home, and she helped me select fixtures in my budget. She is very knowledgeable, patient and honest. She did not over sell or push me to order anything. Capital Lighting prices were comparable to online pricing.
Pretty good. Decent choices. Customer service has been hit or miss depending on the times we’ve been in. (Aka walked around looking for someone available for 30 minutes to give up and leave.)
Friendly and personable staff, willing to help customers find what they need, within their budget. New online storefront and constant sales/savings. Highly recommend!
I called several times and left voicemail but no one called back. Very poor customer service
On our first visit, it was getting close to closing time. We tried to hurry but when youre looking for new lights to accentuate and dress up your home, especially the outside, you dont want to rush your decision. It seemed like a long time before a sales rep approached us, but I could tell by her tone & demeanor that she wanted to give us time to check out what they offered. We had several questions that she answered completely but had to check on a couple of them to be sure to get us the right answer. When we made our selection, she checked to see what discounts we could get and proposed a price for everything. She also let us know that they would have to order our lights. The price was good, the service better so we placed our order. Yesterday, we picked them up. They were busy but someone took care of us right away. Another nice experience from the staff there. The next time we want to upgrade any of our lighting, Capital Lighting will be at the top of the list.
When we had our house built some years back, we used Capital lighting for all our lighting needs. We went back recently to get some post lights and Chandler, but werent overly impressed with their service. We did end up finding something which we ordered, but got the impression our order wasnt that important to them.
Called the place first and left voicemail but did not get response. Decide to go there. Walked in and was told to wait. No problem. Kept waiting. Lady ended up helping another person who came in after me. Irritated at this point I called Northern Lighting and was able to talk, discuss, and order my parts before Capital lighting would even talk to me. Dont waste your time.
Great selection and fair prices. The sales people are very knowledgeable and can offer good advice. We also found the support people to be very useful. Across the board we felt that we were valuable customers. We had purchased a chandelier and was surprised that they offered to bring it to our car without having to ask.
I couldnt be happier to say Don Winks is back 1/19/2021!!! Ive been a long time customer with Capital Lightning. I went into the store asking for Don Winks who has worked with me for many years and to my dismay I was told he no longer works there! I was shocked to hear this. Why hes gone nobody would say? He has ALWAYS been extremely professional, polite, friendly, informative, knowledgeable and a hard working employee in all areas of the store. I will no longer be a customer with this company. Capital Lightning youve lost a wonderful employee. I wish Don Winks all the best wherever he may be!!
We spent nearly an hour in the showroom and Lari was helpful when we were trying to decide on new ceiling fans and a chandelier. But once we decided, we couldn’t get her to return our calls or emails to get the install scheduled. It has now been three weeks and we have to start the process over somewhere else. Their profit margins must be so high that they don’t need to worry about customer service. We will never go back there.
They have a fairly large selection and I would have much preferred to shop locally for my lighting.I went to the store on three different occasions and each time waited more than 30 minutes before going to the desk and asking for help. Rather than receiving any sympathy or help, I was brushed off by staff busy doing who knows what behind the desk.I was ready to make a $1000 purchase and I cant get the staffs attention. Maybe I should have just put cash on the counter. Instead, I went to an online competitor. I will never go back to Capital Lighting.I can only assume they are more focused on selling to higher volume, accounts like contractors, rather than the individual consumer.
Great selection of custom lighting that really stands out compared to bigger box stores. Sales people are reasonably knowledgable but customer service is not their strong suit. Feels like they are understaffed and constantly helping many customers at one time.
NEVER pay cash for anything here. My husband and I returned an unopened light fixture over 2 weeks ago that we paid for in CASH. We were told that they did not keep cash in the store and that their accounting department would have to cut us a check, but they couldnt cut the check on site... we would have to wait until the end of the month and then the check would be cut. Well, here we are in mid-July... They have their light fixture and they STILL have our $200 cash. I called today and spoke to customer service who informed me that our check has not yet been cut but that it will be in 2 more days. This is the worst business practice I have EVER seen. I have never been in a retail establishment that would not provide an immediate cash refund for a cash payment. If you are willing to accept cash as a form of payment, then you should be prepared to issues a cash refund. Obviously, this is within reason. I dont think expecting that a store would have $200 cash on hand is unreasonable at all. We will never purchase anything from this store and I have made sure to let all my friends, family, neighbors and co-workers know about our experience with Capital Lighting.
I have not bought anything from there yet but the showroom and selection is worth a visit. Big box hardware store are good but Capital can let you see far more and order a variety 10 times greater. Sales person was very helpful. They can be busy on the weekends so try to go during the week.
I couldn’t get anyone to pay attention to me to wait on me. Staff was more concerned with stacking papers and shuffling papers and talking on the phone than helping me - and I was the first customer through the door when the store opened.I will buy from any other store except Capital Lighting now.
We had an excellent experience with service when we had a few lights that needed repaired/replaced in our new build. Zach came prepared to complete all the items and did a great job!
The selection is great, but customer service is severely lacking. I was in there for 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged my presence and there were at least a 6 sales people in the area with no customers. Several people literally walked by me while I was looking at fixtures with not so much as a hello. It was very disappointing. If you dont care about being treated properly you will find great items.
I am shocked. I just got back from the store and have never received such poor service or been treated so poorly in a place of business. We are building a house and required to use Capital Lighting. We were told Capital Lighting would reach out to us. They never did. After we reached out to them they sent us our lighting package only after we escalated it to our builder. We picked all our lighting and then tried to reach back out. We got no response. We were never offered an appointment either which we were told we should have had. I stopped into the store and the store worker told me no one would help me other than this one very busy person who doesn’t call back or respond to email. I am scared about getting my lights thru them now. We are spending nearly 10,000 with them and I have zero confidence. I wish I could explain how rude the lady was. I asked would anyone in the store be willing to help - no, no no was her answer. Then I called and explained my experience and asked how to escalate it. I was told “I’ll forward you to account management” and was put into Sheila’s voicemail. The shocking thing is this is a fancy place. I did not expect this AT ALL.
I built a home which contracts with Capital Lighting. Wendy was the employee we were assigned. We had several problems: 1) We had to wait 2 months for back-ordered items after moving in. 2) One of the light fixtures we ordered was actually discontinued (at the time of ordering), but we were never notified of that. 3) Extremely poor communication/customer service. I attempted to communicate with MULTIPLE employees via phone AND email with little to NO responses. Wendy never responded to an email at one point for over a month (regarding both back-ordered item status & missing/discontinued fixture). 4) I finally got my lights in, but during installation they blew the light fixture on the fan and 4 months later, it is still NOT working. 12/18/18 I contacted Wendy AGAIN and they were not made aware by their employees this needed repaired. I set up an appointment for today (1/16/19) at 10AM to get that light installed... per the usual it is now NOON. No call. No show.Thank you for your response. You still did not make it at your 12:30 time. It was around 1:30PM.
Purchased lights that were on backorder until April originally. It is now June. Ive called several times and the dates keep getting pushed back. Most of the time when I call, they wont look up my order and tell me they will call me back. Never once have they called me back. In fact, I just called today to cancel the order, was told theyd call me back, and of course I never got a call. Its too bad, because the guy was very helpful when we were picking the lights out.
As a former Employee, I can say, the atmosphere is of family & general appreciation for one another. Talking w one of my forms Associates, I learned they promoted Ms. Ann Landis to Company President & may I say, there’s is no better hire they could’ve made. She’s built this company & will continue to do so. SOOO HAPPY FOR YOU ANN!!❤️
The customer service at Capital Lighting is horrendous. Similar to the other customer reviews, when you call the showroom to inquire about your purchase, there is either no call back or no answer. When I did finally speak to someone (who I believe was Lari) she extremely rudely asked me what I want and hung up the phone when I asked her why she was being rude to me (this was the third time I had to call about the light I purchased due to never receiving a call back). Needless to say, I immediately went to the store and spoke with Lari who clearly does not understand the importance of good customer service and could care less about her negative attitude. Mack, our sales representative, was amazing and the only reason I did not ask for a full refund. I would rather spend my money at a business where they treat customers with respect.
Fast, friendly staff. Great selection, decent pricing. The service is worth the slightly higher prices.
Lots of nice stuff. But the sales staff is absolute joke EVERYTIME I SPECIAL ORDER SOMETHING THEY NEVER EVER CALL YOU WHEN THE ORDER ARRIVES and when I call to check on it no one knows anything it drives you freaking crazy I hate dealing with the sales staff
Went to store and left after 45 minutes when no one would help me. Called three times to place an order but could only leave a voicemail message and no return call from Capital Lighting. I know the item I want to order but could get anyone to call me back. If this is how they respond to someone who wants to order something, how should they respond if there was a problem? I just ordered it on Amazon. No hassle. No waiting. This is how brick and mortar stores go out of business.
This is my first time going to Capital Lighting and I was happy with the experience. Mack was very friendly and helpful.
Great selection of lighting, staff was helpful with the design of our new fan
Super helpful staff and great selection. Prices are decent too for the quality.
This place has horrible customer service. I have been there twice and each time I was completely ignored. I tried waiting at the desk area and no one even bothered to acknowledge my presence. Save your money & time - go to Lowes or Home Depot.
Exceptional service!! Patient and listened to my needs!! Thanks Geoff!! Youre the best!
Sales employee was nice, management is rude and condescending! Dont waste your time here. We were stuck because our new home builder for some reason uses Capital Lighting. Buy your lights on the net is 30% cheaper for the same lights.
Expensive and Only Option with Builder. We used capital lighting when we built a new home with Rockford. They were the only lighting company we could use if we wanted the builder to install the fixtures. The prices were more expensive than elsewhere because they know they are the only option. Additionally, we paid extra for LED bulbs. When we moved in, half the bulbs were CFL. They did send over a box of LEDs, but they are the worst quality Ive ever seen. After 18 months, weve had over 20 bulbs burn out. Definitely not worth paying a dime extra for. Much better off to go to Home Depot or similar and saving some money and actually getting a decent product.
Lari in the showroom is fantastic. Good product knowledge and customer service.
Super cool experience!!! Love this place
Great selection. Informed and very helpful staff.
The worst place to deal with.... if I wasn’t in a contract to replace a light in the house I bought I would had gone somewhere else. Picked out a light was not informed it needed to be ordered and if I paid $190 they could have had it for the day the light was being taken down in my house if not it would have taken 3 weeks. I was also informed that when they took the chandelier down they were putting the new light up NOPE, but if I paid another $160 they would. Then I had to buy a light off the floor took 2 weeks to take it down & call me to pick it up. When I picked up the new light it didn’t even have installation instructions and they never honored the 25% off that I was receiving on the original light I picked out . And on top of all of this the first delivery they showed up a day late had to rearrange my schedule and when they showed up they were 2 hours late. So it had to be rescheduled again and then they were late again...the 2 men who showed up to take down the chandelier were rude whispering at each other never gave their names never said hi nothing . Horrible customer service & customer experience.... If I could rate a zero I would.
Capital Lighting has a great selection of indoor and outdoor lighting. We’ll be back!
Terrible customer service from John. When the company screws up, own the mistake, apologize and try your hardest to fix it. Throwing your hands up in the air and telling me Im not the manager, Im not the owner just illustrates why he isnt and probably why they should rethink John being someone representing their company. Ive never felt so disrespected by a company before in my life. Unfortunately a negative experience that will stick with me for a long time. What a shame.
Good products, helpful knowledgeable staff, a bit $$$.
Staff not very knowledgeable
One of the greatest lighting showrooms in Columbus. Extensive selection and friendly staff.
Huge selection of lighting in about every style imaginable. Helpful staff.
Great selection and good prices!
....worse place to buy anything! customer service is so poor and not only that when youre inside they make you fell your not there. I have warned you folks, restoration hardware here I come!!! all employees are jerks specially the ladies HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
Upon walking into the store no one greeted us..We were in the store looking and not one person said anything to us. We were in there for at least 15 minutes. There were several.workers sitting at their desks working on the computers. Again no one even looked at us. We must have been invisible!
Great Service. Ask for Geoff
Plenty of selections but very expensive!!
They don’t come near to what they claim. Nothing at all. Just a normal shop.
Id give zero stars if I could!
Sean was not helpful and rude. His job is to help me with lights yet acts like I am bugging him and needed to hurry up. The whole experience was horrible and way over priced.
All overpriced lights and slow inaccurate service.
Great customer service.
Great service and selection
Horrible customer service. Place an order in early October, promised to deliver by end of October. Its almost three months still order not completed. Call always go on voicemail and hardly receive call back.
