Great customer service. Appreciate the vegan ice cream options and toppings. The chocolate flavor is the best in my opinion. You can taste real cocoa. Not huge fan of the vegan vanilla flavor, it has a strong coconut taste. I hope they can add a caramel option to the menu soon. Street parking is available. It can be hit or miss.

AMAZING!! Perfect summer treat for a 10 year old with a serious dairy allergy!!! The flavors were delicious and so refreshing. I LOVE coconut but the ice cream didn’t taste like it.They were so accommodating, they only had 1 flavor in pints and my son wanted blue moon in a pint so they made a special pint just for him. Talk about going above and beyond for a 10 year who hasn’t been able to go out for ice cream all summer. If this face doesn’t say it all I don’t know what does.

Lovely soft serve with this incredible and incredible fluffy texture. Im of the opinion that its a top ice cream option whether youre a vegan of not.The flavors are strong, though do be aware that you can get the underlying notes of coconut (from the base) for some (though I like that).Really well priced too! Just all around excellent.

The cold truth is this place wont satisfy your sweet tooth. The ice cream does not taste like it should, it may be vegan based but that doesnt mean it should taste like water. Threw my cone away after a couple bites because it wasnt worth the calories. The social justice message earned them the 2 stars. Also, the menu changes every week so good luck getting anything you thought looked good on ig.

I have stalked this ice cream since the back alley days. I think I went to the 2nd pop up.And nothing has changed.It is still the best soft serve Ive ever had, even far before I went vegan.Parking around the new location is fairly simple, be prepared to wait in a line and dont skip on the tip.They do a good job with preparing your yummies with a smile and accuracy.Personal fave: Lavender

After seeing the pictures and reviews we were excited to try this place. I got the rock and rye float and my wife tried a cherry chocolate cup with fruity pebbles topping. I just couldnt get past the aftertaste of the soft serve vanilla and I tried the cherry that my wife had and it was a similar experience. The chocolate that I tried was the best out of the ones she had but still not very good. I know that it is gluten free and I appreciate that but I think that the flavors need to be improved upon.

Meh. I dont have much to compare to because this is my first go with vegan ice cream, but the flavor was just off for me, and the kids agreed. Even with Oreo and/or fruity pebbles toppings in a chocolate waffle cone, I just couldnt get past the taste of the vanilla soft serve. Also, only 2 flavor options on my visit, so not a lot of variety. Still give it a shot if youre vegan!

Cold Truth honestly has the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever had. Every time I’m in Detroit, I make time to stop by, and they always have some cool new flavor or vegan topping. Can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Had their coconut ice cream, it did not taste like coconut. I was kinda surprised because I think they use coconut milk because its vegan. You darn right its the truth, THE COLD TRUTH!!! This ice cream takes the cake. Best ice cream ever. You can taste the homemade texture and flavor. Theres nothing else like it. They only have a few flavors but I always say quality over quantity.

Ill admit I was skeptical about vegan ice cream, but it was actually really good! You can tell theres something different about it, but it doesnt matter at all. I had the sweet cream and chocolate on a waffle cone with dark chocolate drizzle and biscoff topping. My only nit to pick is I wish the biscoff was chunkier instead of a dust.

Love Cold Truth. If you want quality ice cream you must visit. They have 100% vegan ice cream with a small key variety of flavors and toppings. They usually have a weekly special flavor to choose. I had the peach ice cream with peach sauce and it was sooooo good. 10/10

Hands down the best ice cream in Detroit! I’m not even Vegan, but it’s better than any regular ice cream I’ve had and settles better with my tummy. Owner and employees are super friendly! 😋 P.S. I know some people say it’s expensive, but I don’t think it’s expensive for the quality of everything.

Great spot with a revolving list of amazing and normal flavors. Some of the flavors are a little bit too sweet for my taste, and the setup ends up providing you with a huge amount of ice cream, so I may have to start getting the kids size. I advise skipping the toppings because they make a mess

Cold Truth ice cream serves delicious vegan ice cream with creative toppings. Though on the pricey end of ice cream cones, I havent had non-dairy ice cream this good before. Even if you love the normal dairy-packed stuff, youll still enjoy Cold Truth. Check back often or keep up on their Instagram as their flavors rotate pretty often and they have seasonal special menu items.

Treat Dreams is just down the block and not only is their ice cream just as tasty, they also treat their employees with respect, instead of abusely, like Cold Truth does. Save your money and patronize a better business.If you read through some of their review responses youll see that they even insult their customers.

Unbelievably rich and creamy vegan soft serve!

As someone who visits many ice cream places in the metro Detroit area, I was super disappointed to find this place way below my expectations. On their Instagram they have many combinations and flavors that look amazing, but when you get to the shop they only have a couple options. That’s totally okay as I know it’s very tiny, but I’d suggest at least having chocolate and vanilla at all times. I got the chocolate soft serve and had to throw it out after a few bites. The flavor was actually really bad. It barely tasted like chocolate. I have to give it to them that the texture and presentation was amazing, and that the service was nice. I’d suggest some improvements on some of the recipes. Great branding and hope to see this place improve.

Rude owner- they called me “Dumb” because I rated the service with 1 star-you’ll see their comment down below. There was cat hair in my ice cream. You’ll see all the awesome pictures online, then you get there and they only give you 4 flavor options-chocolate, vanilla,cherry & lavender. You get to add graham or biscotti crumbs and that’s about it. Very basic nothing special.

Always above and beyond - todays trip was no different but also infinitely more special because of the gf/v cinnamon rolls with a lil dollop of astro on top 🤤🙏🏽

We came here after trying to get -320 creamery at Detroit shipping company but they ran out of nitrogen (not even sure how you don’t have back up when that is primarily your business). Since we were still craving ice cream we decided to come here. It was not what we expected at all. We ordered the vegan chocolate banana flavor and it was very gritty and we didn’t taste the banana. I see other reviews about other flavors being creamy so maybe we just ordered the wrong flavor? I wish we would have been offered to taste first. I do. It suggest to get the chocolate banana flavor unless you are vegan and that’s the only flavor you can have but it barely passes off as being called ice cream.

I recently had the banana pudding flavor and it was delicious! I have to admit - at first, I was like “Vegan ice cream? Ew.” But I had been craving banana pudding for so long I decided to give it a shot. Now... I cannot stop craving it. I actually think it’s better than the actual banana pudding I usually get. I plan on making another trip here to get many more pints and then I’ll add my own vanilla wafers. This will be my new banana pudding place.

I really loved the creamy texture of this dairy free dessert. Doesnt have a chalky after taste and theres no hint of almond or soy flavor. Just sweet and smooth ice cream-like consistently. I tasted every flavor and they were good but Im partial to simple flavors like vanilla and strawberry which they dont serve. The chocolate tastes more like ice-milk so I dont recommend that. I do recommended Horchata which tastes like cinnamon, nutmeg and almond milk. This pic shows a cup of Horchata with dark chocolate drizzle and strawberry dust.

Okay so I have been wanting to go here for months. I tried in November, I tried the beginning of January...always closed. Today was the day! I love everything they stand for and the guy I worked with was so incredibly nice. When I walked up he was sanitizing everything, and was patient with me while I picked. I got a lavender s’mores sundae, and it just wasn’t good. I used to live in Portland, so I would get the honey lavender ice cream from salt and straw all the time. I think my expectations may have been too high, as this was not something I would ever buy again.

Had a great first experience tonight at Cold Truth with some friends. I tried the sweet potato soft serve with praline topping and it was so delicious. Very fast and friendly service and will definitely try it again. The consistency was creamy and just the right amount of sweet.

Cold Truth is the real deal. Both their dairy and vegan flavors are fantastic! I love the mix and match Walking Pint options of cream + toppings. Lavender, the Pumpkin.. super special.

SUCH CREAMY ICE CREAM! It was quite delicious. Quick service (but we had just beat the after dinner rush). The combinations were awesome - tajin & chocolate toppings on peach & vanilla ice cream - so good! The only recommendation/downside would be that the toppings could have been either incorporated into the ice cream more or a little heavier application. They (the toppings) were in the light side.

SO GOOD! Had a short line but so worth it. Lemon Curd with biscoff dusting, 11/10. Im not a lemon fan and this was phenomenal.

The balance of the tart Michigan Cherry with the spicy Mexican Chocolate is just the fitting way to end.a long, hot, summer afternoon. The cold truth is that its vegan too, and yet no one can tell. I am so excited for this place and really want them to see a lot of success! It is much needed in Detroit!

One day in november, i came here and ordered pumpkin soft serve with the pecan-praline-sprinkle that is offered with it. the ice cream man took his time, and carefully layered the praline throughout the cup, so that i had the praline in every bite. it was so good, and months later, i still think about that ice cream man and the care he put into making my cup. the service and care here isn’t always consistent, and i think the big gretch shirts that have been prominently displayed are an inappropriate use of AAVE, BUT i will return because of the kindness of that one ice cream person. thank you, ice cream person!

Stopped friendly. Super helpful. The ice cream and cone, all vegan, were spectacular. Nice and creamy. Campaignons got drizzle, which they said were good also. A bit pricey but the quality makes it all worth it.

Amazing spot for soft serve ice cream. I had the Chocolate and lavender swirl topped with chocolate drizzle and salt and it was amazing. Also, I couldnt believe both flavors were vegan. Also, later in the evening, we came back for hot chocolate with Vegan marshmallows, was a perfect drink for a cold night out in Detroit.

I was SO impressed by this vegan soft serve! The texture was spot on, and the Mexican chocolate was the perfect blend of flavors. They should just ditch the dairy options all together! :)I had some trouble finding the entrance based on the Google maps directions. It says its on Cass but the entrance is actually on Canfield, and its not easy to see the sign at first glance.The interior is pretty small, not really a place you can sit down to eat. I would love to see them expand to a larger location some day :)
