I have been using the Stone Center of Carolina at Durham for several years now for a wide variety of projects (see pics!). Im not a Pro, but an avid DIYer who appreciates the time that the staff (most recently Zak, but they are all awesome to work with) is willing to spend to address questions and design considerations. All of the folks that Ive worked with over the years have been professional, very knowledgeable and overall just very nice people. On top of all of that, their selection and prices are the best in the area (Ive checked... many times). I highly recommend.

Wonderful place to find natural stone for landscape and masonry projects. Dry creek landscape beds, fireplaces, walkways, fire pits, benches, patio stones and so much more. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, delivery service and beautiful displays open 24/7. This is one of Durham’s not so hidden gems.

My wife and I went to the stone center with a fairly ambitious backyard project and Amy and the team were absolutely amazing. She was able to work with me as I mapped out my idea in my head for her. Without anything concrete they took the time to help ya come up with thing we liked and then work through how much material we would need. They made the process efficient by even helping us better understand the stages of the building process when we were putting in the fireplace. They did such a great job we realized we needed the kit rather than trying to build it from scratch as I had planned.The delivery team was amazing getting the materials where I needed them so didn’t break my back moving everything.I would highly recommend going to talk to them if you are starting any type of project!

The employees at the Stone Center of Carolina have always been professional. They are so helpful. The Life Center of Durham had a major project in the Cornwallis community and the Stone Center was helpful in providing us mulch for the community.

I would highly recommend this place for landscaping/hardscaping materials. The entire team at this location is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have always provided the right solution for any tricky landscaping situations if we as landscaping company run into. The selection of pavers, natural stones and all aggregates is very huge. Hard to walk out empty handed.

Strongly recommend checking out Stone Center of Carolina. I wanted some stone for my mulch bed perimeter and everything I saw at big hardware stores was generic and expensive. Stone Center had a good deal on river rick that had one surface removed, leaving them with flat bottom. I spent a total of $24 on this material and it perfectly meets my needs. Also, the staff was extremely helpful. They let me take a couple stones back to my house before making a final decision on colors. And helped me load the material into my car. I will definitely go back for future projects.

Such an easy selection process with Steven’s help! Excited to have our backyard patio, fire pit and walkway project completed in the coming weeks.

Caroline and the crew at the Stone Center are phenomenal! Very kind, pleasant to work with, and extremely knowledgeable. I had never worked with stone before and they supported me through a build of 100 feet of retaining wall and stairs using Belgards Celtic retaining wall blocks. Highly suggest using the Stone Center for any similar project.

I’ve used the Stone Center of a few years now. They have the best stocked stone yard in the region and if they don’t have it, they can source it within a reasonable time frame. The folks there are genuinely interested in our projects & have been out to our job sites to make sure we’re happy. They communicate well and are punctual. The stone center has a huge display selection to actually see as it will look at completion. Also having a wide variety of inventory in stock sets them well above the rest. Burkely helped my team out tremendously with a very big issue we were having in construction. Burkely went far and above for us. I highly recommend this vendor to anyone doing hardscape installation professionally or for a diy project. You cannot go wrong with stone center!

Pros: Yard staff very knowledgeable, great variety of stones, lots or room to look around and nice examples of stone projects.Cons: Office Staff that serve the customers at the window are somewhat rude, not welcoming and always rushing the interaction. At times, they seem to be annoyed with customers.

Be aware if you are ordering small stones for gardens, walkways or such that small stones (3/4 -1 3/4) are not screened. We had 3 tons of stones delivered and there so much sand it totally screwed up the job. All the work prepping to prevent future weeds is negated by having *a lot* of sand mixed in which will allow seeds to germinate over time. On the plus side, the staff is helpful and the cost/delivery was reasonable...but you get what you pay for. Would have been better off buying screened/bagged stones at a big box store.

Beyond impressed with this place! Great selection of quality products, and a lot of flexibility in how you can buy it. If you need just a small amount of stone for a residential project, you just drive your car onto the scale, pick out the rocks you want, drive back on the scale, and pay according to the weight. Or you can buy a big 1.5 ton pallet, get a bulk quantity delivered by dumptruck, etc.The customer service was fantastic. I called with some questions on the phone before I went in person. Someone picked up the phone immediately and answered all of my questions (no press one for this department menu, alleluia). When I arrived, I told Steven what I wanted. He gave me the grand tour of all the products that we thought would meet my needs, and explained how the process worked. All their staff seemed so friendly and knowledgeable. One of the equipment operators stopped and even offered to help me load my car.And HUGE thanks to Amy for the beautiful gesture of generosity she extended to me as a furloughed federal employee during the government shutdown. These folks know the meaning of community and moved me to tears with their kindness and words of support in a difficult time.TLDR; buy your rocks here, theyre awesome in absolutely every way.

I highly suggest speaking with Amy about any stone needs. I just got off the phone with her about fabricating a counter for my outdoor kitchen. She was very knowledgeable and helped guide me in the right direction.I wanted to update my review after stopping in yesterday to take a look at some samples of stone. April is who helped me. She was very helpful and helped me narrow down my options to two stone types.
