We went there to sell a little used 2017 Honda. CarMax offered a very good price but I was nervous about the reliability of internet appraisals. (I was very close to selling the car locally for less to avoid driving up to CT and being offered less money in person). Due to traffic, we arrived almost an hour later than our scheduled appointment. Its a very busy Saturday. The staff there were professional, polite, and put us at ease. Within half an hour of arrival they completed a physical inspection and a young lady named Erica came out to the waiting area to confirm their offer. This relaxed me a bit. She said we had to wait 2 hours to do the paper work, and suggested that we grab lunch. We headed west to New Haven and enjoyed a nice lunch. In ~90 minutes they called us back. A young lady named Casey completed the paperwork under half an hour. CarMax was doing brisk business. I could hear some one in the next cubicle signing papers to finance/buy a car.Overall, I highly recommend you to give CarMax East Haven a try. They take the stress out of selling your car.

I was concerned that at the actual appointment they would find ways to nickel and dime the offer but that didnt happen. I was given a check with the same offer amount. Everyone was pleasant and helpful, and obviously knowledgeable!I was just selling my car - I recently moved to Manhattan, and I needed to get out from under a daily parking nightmare. So off I went to Connecticut (I took the train home!)The appraisal took a little over an hour. I expected that, so I had a magazine with me. I also downloaded Lyft, and the ticketing app for Metro North.Im REALLY happy with getting an offer thats a REAL NUMBER, instead of some fluffy trade-in value. And even happier about being handed a check, right then and there. Ive got money in the bank, and no more overnight parking to lose sleep over. Saturday was a really good day.

The process is very smooth, except you spend a lot of time waiting at Carmax to complete the transaction. The online quote is seconds, the actual sale of the car and paperwork is fast....but the waiting on site to complete the inspection and for next steps does take too long.....It took us all in all 2.5 hours on site.....almost all of it was due to waiting.

Made appointment online for initial assessment of value, for the sale of my car. Was taken on-time and assisted by a staff member name, Lief. The offer provided to me was fair and when I came back to proceed with the sale of my vehicle, Lief helped me again. Although I was offered a slightly higher price at Lexus, I chose to go with Car Max BECAUSE of Lief. Very pleasant experience.

Ill give five stars because we got an excellent price for our car. We arrived at 2:00 with an offer in hand after an inspection at another CarMax. We were told it would take about an hour. It actually took about two and a half, but everyone was friendly and professional. They seem to be very busy and organized. It took some time, but wed do it all again.

We spent about 3 hours when we were told the process takes 45mins due to how busy they were. But they paid what they quoted online which was $2,200 more than ford wanted to pay for their own vehicle. I was very happy about that and didn’t mind the 5hr round trip to get the transaction done since they stuck to their quote no questions asked.

Carmax offered to buy my car @ a price that no other place could match. Representatives were very helpful.Although, I didnt buy any car from them, I will definitely consider them first when buying a used car, since there is so much peace of mind. They give you 30 day return with no questions asked. Cant ask for more.

This place is too good to be true. Easiest place to sell your vehicle. We were done within 2 hours. This place valued our vehicle way above the dealer. Just answer the questions on the website, youre locked in on the price +/- a few hundred bucks depending on final physical check and youre out with check in hand. Too easy.

Great experience.Sold my car. Got an estimate online fast, it was higher than carvana or vroom.Brought in my registration, license, the quote, and some info for my bank where I had the loan. It took 90 minutes to get a check, mostly just waiting while they looked at the car and called the bank.I even forgot my ray bans in the car and they brought them to me.

No haggle pricing is nice. Quick appraisals. First car they brought out had been smoked in and the back rotors needed replacement. Which is not horrible, but no mention of the smoking and told it might take a while to get the rotors replaced. The second car was perfect. So, they redeemed themselves but of course buyer beware with used cars, even from a reputable business.

Im a big fan of their business model. Very easy and painless transactions. Very conveniently located off of route 95. Its a great time to sell them a used car if you have one. They will give you a way better price than a new car dealer will for trade in. Definitely get an online quote from them while you are considering your options. No commitment required, no unwanted calls emails or pressure to sell. Autotrader or eBay will cost you fees to feature or sell your vehicle. Craigslist will attract scammers and low ballers. CarMax will give you an instant quote and cut you a check on the way out the door.We were in and out with so much extra time built into the trip that we didnt know what to do after that. LOL. Its a nice problem to have.

Another 20 ish minutes and I had the check and was waiting for an Uber home. Was less than 2 hours. On the way home I was talking to the Uber driver. He was thinking about trading in his car. I told him to do it all online and see

Appraised my lease significantly higher than any of the other services...the purchase process was extremely smooth and easy. Paid off my lease AND gave me a check for positive equity on the spot. Couldnt have had a better experience. If you are in limbo with lease payments/mileage allowance I highly recommend giving these guys a try.

Not really happy about my experience . I felt the old bait and switch when I came to pick up my car. First I was told I was approved via phone and then to upload all required docs, so that this will ensure a smoother process. I did all of that ! When I get there I’m asked for additional docs that were not asked for over the phone . Long story short . I ended up getting a vehicle and less than three months later I have transmission issues . Don’t get rocked to sleep with the fast talk and promises of a different experience than going to a regular car dealer .

Time will tell if the car we purchased is decent and worth the price. But I do want to say our overall experience was not great. Liked one of the sales reps who was helpful but another sales rep who helped us used a hard sales tactic threatening to cancel our hold on the vehicle even though we paid to ship it here, after we questioned about the tires. Additionally they were asked initially to buff out scratches on the back of the car which they promised to do and when we went to pick it up the scratches were still there. Additionally there were supposed to remove a dent. They did work on the dent but it was a really shoddy job. Further when I texted the sales person about the dent (before we went back to see and pay for the car) and asked whether you could still see any of the dent he replied NO but the dent was clearly still visible when we went to pick up the car. Also when I asked if the scratches were addressed he said YES and they were not. Also when we were paying for the car we added a warranty and were asking questions about it like where you could get the car serviced and the person taking care of our paperwork and payment for the warranty didnt even know. She said you know places like JEEP dealers (its a Jeep), but when we got home and looked everything up there are limited service options and you cant get it serviced at any JEEP dealers. I kept saying I just wanted to know what I was purchasing. My daughter also said it didnt look like the car was cleaned. Crossing my fingers this works out OK. Im gonna take the car to a professional auto body place to have the dent fixed right. Never bought a car from CARMAX before but overall not a glowing experience. Leaves me feeling somewhat uncomfortable. Time will tell.

From being to end has been a great experience. They assign you your own personal service coordinator who takes care of all your needs after your purchase. Highly recommend. Bryan even filled my tank up last visit. Hes always very helpful and good at following up.

Made an appointment at 2 pm on 9/1/2021, and arrived on time. But I had to wait for 2 hours in the waiting room. Finally, someone came in and consummated the buying transaction in 30 minutes. There was no shuttle service between Union Station in New Haven and your CarMax. What if you provide such a service for a price of $12 per ride? It took me another 2 hours for me to install Uber on my mobile, and arrived at the train station.

This is the second review that I am writing, as the first one was deleted. My car buying experience with PJ was amazing and quick and painless. The ONE complaint that I have is that the car was not detailed and cleaned prior to me driving off the lot with it. I had to clean the car when I got home. There was stuff stuck to the steering wheel, stuff stuck in the doors, and crumbs wedged in the buttons. When buying a car, I would think that it is common practice to detail a car before the buyer drives off the lot with it.

Avoid Doug Petterson the used car salesman at all costs. Its more than hes incompetent or new. This fellow insists on only doing financing through CarMaxx (whose interest rate is much higher than the banks) he claims using 3rd party financing is a difficult process that he doesnt believe can be done electronically and will require the bank to issue a paper check that the client must pick up(obvious lie) and NEVER mentions CarMaxxs return policy, makes excuses when asked for a vehicles Carfax report, and is all around shady. Be aware.

We went to CarMax in East Haven to buy a car for my daughter because we heard all good things about it. We are glad we did because all the good things we heard turned out to be true. They have a great model for giving you an opportunity to look at the cars online and check them out in the lot once you are there. They also have a great model for working with a number of banks to get the best loan terms possible for you. Tim, Isabella, and Candace assisted us in the purchase of the car and they went out of their way to help us. They were patient, professional, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to deal with. I need a newer car too for me in the near future and I plan on returning because of the positive experience I had. Also, after seeing the beautiful cars they have that are just a few years old but much less in cost compared to a brand new car this is the way to go in my opinion.

I bought a pre-owned Audi TT convertible from a dealership, that admittedly was an impulse buy. Overall, it was a great car and fun to drive, but after owning it a few months came to realize it wasnt the right car for me. When I decided to sell it, I didnt want to deal with selling it privately so I took a chance. After doing an online third party appraisal, I clicked the link to Carmax who offered me the best deal. Ive had friends whove bought cars from Carmax with good results, but I was hesitant the offer to buy my Audi would change when I arrived. I was pleasantly surprised that after an in person appraisal, their purchase offer was as promised! After I accepted their offer, the paperwork took just under two hours and I left with a check and a smile of fond but brief memories driving in my Audi TT! Thank you!

Called CarMax about a car in East Haven. Got credit approved and requested a transfer to Waterbury. A week later I find out the store manager in East Haven deleted my application and sold it to someone else. Horrible way to do business. Was on hold for an hour when I called to talk to them about it. Wouldn’t go near the East Haven store with a 10 foot pole. I’m sure I will get a cut a paste response from East Haven CarMax like everyone else because they obviously have no idea what customer service is.

Very professional the only problem I had is for the transfer of a car I think it takes way too long for them to call you after the car has been transferred here it could be because of the whole covid thing but it shouldnt take two weeks for me actually to come and pick up the car but that will be the only problem that I have other than that great experience will shop here again if I have to I dont know about getting it card transfer again

Some online seller give us the estimation price, but the final price cut 15% off although we providing with exact condition as they inspection. So we keep searching then found Carnax. As before we honestly described the car condition and got the estimate price, it was 20% higher than the previous online car buy dealer. We thought its worth to drive car to Carmax site ; after inspection, to our surprise, we got the estimated price! No game play! No game like higher price driving you in then cutting price.
