I am an auction buyer and I buy surplus and scrap equipment around Chicago on a regular basis. I participate in most Heath Industrial auctions just as I bid on many other auctions around Chicago. I have never had a problem with Heath, except one missing lot that was easily resolved, and generally find them to be honest and organized people to work with.In addition, I have instructed my wife to hire Heath Industrial to auction off my property after I die, which is something that hopefully will not happen for quite a while.The picture shows me removing an auction item.

I have participated in at least 5 of Heaths auctions so far and I have not had any issues.I REALLY appreciate that that will pack and ship Items. Both small items by USPS flat rate box and bigger items on a pallet by LTL freight.This is very helpful for me since I have a day job as an Engineer and I can not take off on short notice to go get stuff from an auction most of the time.

A shining example of dishonorable incompetence.we purchased a number of lots at an auction. made all appropriate arrangements to pickup the material during their limited pickup windows. confirmed date, time, payment, loading method and insurance information.sent a semi-truck, forklift and a driver to pick the material up, which is not an inexpensive proposition. when the driver arrived, the gentleman responsible for the outgoing lots informed him that one of our lots which consisted of thousands of pounds of stainless steel wire, had been stolen, that they had no idea where it was, they would not be making any effort to find it and they would not be making any concessions to assist us in mitigating the situation.after voicing our displeasure and requesting some assistance to offset the cost of our dead freight, the owner of the company determined that we were the ones that were somehow intent on mistreating him, and in spite of the fact that we sent a driver, a truck, a fork truck, a business check and relevant liability insurance information to make this pickup, as had been discussed and agreed upon the day before, we were somehow acting in bad-faith and he would therefore not release the remaining lots that we had purchased. after the fact, the owner told me that he was concerned we would have taken the material and then cancelled our business check. we can only view this as the owner projecting his own traits onto ourselves. that gives us a good indication of what he would have done if the situations were reversed.after our truck had departed, and spent more than 6 hours attempting to make this pickup, the owner of this company offered us a pittance to assist in covering the cost of this ordeal. our better judgement dictated that we had spent more than enough time and money on this wasted effort thus far. fool me once, shame on you and all of that.regardless, here it is well after the fact, and this auctioneer has the nerve to report us to the online auction platform as having not paid for or removed items.we really hate to leave a negative review for anyone for any reason. in a situation like this, things can go wrong, we understand that. all we would typically expect in a situation like this is a bit of contrition and a sincere effort to try and rectify the situation. we received none of that, and in fact, it seems like there was an intentional effort by this company to make the situation more difficult.we would imagine that they will reply to this review with similar indifference or even an attempt to offset any blame that they may bear as a misunderstanding or a circumstance that was out of their control. they were given ample opportunity at the time to make this situation right and they outright refused.if we can spare one individual a bit of time, money and aggravation, this post will have served its purpose. when looking for someone to deal with in this particular arena, i would continue searching.
