I ordered something simple, so this can be considered a test of how reliable and fast shipping can occur. I live in the Huntsville area, and I wanted a portable USCF checkbook chess set for a business trip. I ordered it twenty minutes before the website said shipping for the day would end, and I got it the next day with the standard USPS shipping. To my surprise, I received an extra set of the magnetic chessmen to go with it.Im hoping to continue doing business with The House of Staunton. I cant speak to the quality of their higher end products -- yet. My only regret is that I dont think they have a public showroom. It would be great to see some of the products in person or buy them without paying for shipping for a 30 minute drive across town.

If you love chess you need to see this place. It has everything for chess lovers.

I ordered a chess table, a set of pieces and a box for the pieces. The website was not that fast but the items looked really well made. One week after I ordered, it all arrived and the actual items were even much much better than the pictures. I live halfway around the world from Alabama and I am very happy to have bought from HOS. It is a world-class complete chess store and I look forward to buying other items.

I was pleased with my 1st purchase, but my 2nd purchase went badly awry. I paid for 2-day FedEx shipping to explicitly avoid USPS (primarily because of lost and slow mail issues over the past several months) and to get the package in a timely manner. House of Staunton happily charged me for FedEx shipping but then sent the package via... USPS. The package finally arrived after 3 weeks. After numerous emails and voice messages, the company remains completely unresponsive, and Im out the extra shipping fees. This company is awful.

High quality material ... excellent design ... well made ... prompt shipping ... customer service totally acceptable ... first order went like clockwork ... they promptly cancelled my mistaken second order as requested ... third order went like clockwork ... fourth order was just as good ... so ... 4 for 4 ... 100% satisfaction ... shop with confidence ... enjoy ♟👑

Leaving a review to make this clear for other people in or near Alabama. This is listed as a game store om Google with an address but the address is not a brick and mortar store. Its just a warehouse. Do not be like me and drive an hour and a half or more expecting to be able to buy a chess set and go home with it.

The House of Staunton’s (HOS) quality and huge variety of chess pieces and accessories impresses. That’s a place for everyone to find material related with chess. The store impresses also, for its involvement with support of chess education in USA, and material to institutions related to chess. HOS is a gallery of art for those who like chess.

Absolutely trash company. They hide all the details from you about the materials and country of origin in regards to their sets. This is a very sketchy low quality company and if you have any doubts about that just try to contact them and get information from them in regards to anything and check out their Facebook page where several “satisfied” customers have posted reviews. AVOID!

What an experience! Gave me a coupon discount for first-time customer, AND free shipping (which is huge because the box it comes in is very large—well packaged). And it came in only 2 days. Just amazing, and the pieces and board are nearly flawless.
