Definitely found a new favorite shop! Loved it so much the first time went the next day and took my family! Interesting just to look around and fun to find your treasure purchase!
Noir Arts and Oddities is a fun shop on 39th St in KC, MO. I cannot recommend this store enough if you have an inkling for the macabre, if you have an interest in Victorian Era funerals, if you like viewing samplings of various specimens, or if you want to say hello to their resident skeleton, Vincent. This is a great shop to pick up unique items, home decor, jewelry, and art pieces. The owner is a wonderful person and makes you feel like a friend when you walk into her curiosity shop.
Every visit here has been an absolute treat! Very cool stuff for purchase and the staff are always so friendly and helpful! I recommend this store 100%
This place is amazing! They have the most beautiful antiques and specimens. And you can rest assured that you are getting high- quality, environmentally and ethically sourced items which may mean they cost a little more. Whenever I come in, the staff is so sweet and kind to my son, who has special needs. As you can imagine many places aren’t kind when they see us coming; especially places with valuable antiques!I am a teacher and would also recommend this if your children are interested in science. It’s very a interesting and educational store!
Absolutely loved this incredible store. It was hard to leave without buying more and more. Everywhere you look you find another amazing item. Great selection of curiosities like pickled animals in jars, one-of-a-kind clothing, historical medical instruments, beautiful jewelry, and more. The entire shop was like a museum of every odd and curious item you could think of. Highly recommended!
Nice people and excellent assortment of oddities. Well worth the drive to visit. Priced a little high on rare things as to be expected. But we took photos and bought some candles.
I don’t live close to the parlor, but the drive is worth it every time. I love creepy things, creepy things love me. (A lot of my friends and family love creepy things too.) Whenever I’m looking for a new piece of decor or a gift, this place is always my first option.
Okay this store is not for the faint of heart. There are some pretty weird and spooky stuff in it. Im talking about occult-ish things and wet specimens. But if you are like me then you like the weird and spooky! I wish I took pictures...but there was just so much to see and every little thing catches your eye. I ended up only getting a patch of the face of the original phantom of the opera (ya know, the goods), but the prices did seem a tad high. Not high enough to turn people away, but high enough to notice that I saw it cheaper elsewhere. The location is pretty perfect. Its tucked away in the West Bottoms, and the fact that the building is at it is adds so much dang charm. Plus the staff were lovely and helpful! Im sure Ill be there again just to have another peek when Im in that part of town again!
This is a unique shop providing an experience of the eccentric and fascinating. From historical to scientific to metaphysical, all these paths meet in offerings for anyone who wishes to bring intrigue and mystique to life.
I got an amazing labradorite necklace in the shape of a skull. Also a really cool book about death and the afterlife. The woman who owns this store is really awesome! She collects some really interesting and unique items.
This is an awesome place to get gifts for the black sheep in your life. Amazing specimens, clothing, jewelry, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If youre looking for something odd, try them out. If they dont have it, ask. 😁😈
I first attended Noir at their old location and immediately fell in love with the newness of it, Kansas City tends to fall into a more Bohemian-style themed category when speaking of wares or businesses that are exotic and different. Its a theme thats repeated often and can get too boring. Noir became so popular that in order to even get into the store youd have to practically rub shoulders with the next visitor. Their new location provides parking without a fight, glorious dark themed decor and enough room to have decent sized events. The events are a must attend.Noir also offers many items in many categories such as medical, beauty products, scientific, religious, historic, spiritual and more. If you are concerned about prices, merchandise starts at quick grab bag/stocking stuffer items all the way up to serious collector pieces. If you find yourself curious about things you arent familiar with the owner and staff are more than happy to provide you with a little history.Noir graciously provides a space for local artists with similar flair to sell their wares.Id love to see Noir have episodes on an oddities television show.I cant say enough good things about this place or the people who help make the magic happen.
Are you looking for fun goth gifts? Old medical supplies? Coffins and skulls and all kinds of other fun tchotchkes? This place has all that and more! One part goth supply shop, one part antique store, but totally unique.
I would say 5 stars. But they use to have more unique stuff and less mass produced stuff. When I went the other day it felt like the opposite.
Absolutely amazing, gorgeous parlor. They had so many beautiful unique items and curiosities to choose from and they were all very fairly priced. I was even able to purchase an enamel pin Id been looking for forever from another small business, which was awesome. You can tell how much love goes into the business just by walking in.
Love this place so sad they are closing
I really wanted more. nothing wrong with it, i just had hyped it up in my head
I love this store! So many unique items to browse/buy. Weve taken a few friends here while theyre in town and they have a great time! The staff are incredibly friendly and its always a pleasure to chat with them too. I havent been able to make it to one of their events yet but they always sound really fun!
If you have a friend thats difficult to shop for, I bet theres something they dont have at Noir Arts & Oddities. Had a great time looking at old medical equipment, Victorian dolls, and books on the macabre and supernatural. Enjoyed meeting Mr. Poe, himself, on his birthday! The staff was friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable about taxidermy (among many other things)!
The best part of our visit was talking to the owner. Everything in this store has its own unique story and she knows them all. We learned a lot of really interesting facts during our visit. This place is a must see for anyone who wants a break from the mundane. I also love the fact that the owner really followed her passion and made a business out of it. One of the coolest places we’ve visited on any trip.
Hands down the most knowledgeable and kindest group of store employees and owners around! They have everything from unique jewelry to arts to jarred wet specimens. Its the BEST oddity shop in KC. No contest! I love visiting just to see what kind of new items theyve brought in. 💙💙
Its not often I go into a store and audibly gasp at an amazing find but here we are. I have recently been on a quest to make my wardrobe exclusively 40s femme fatale, so, in my leopard coat and cat eye sunglasses I stumbled upon the perfect robe from Foxblood. Every time I wear it I am transported back to that detectives office when I was clearing my name for the mysterious disappearance of my then husband. Oh and I got a cool crystal too.
Love this place! I stop in every time I drive to Colorado to see my sister, and Noir never disappoints! I always find something interesting to take home or give as a gift!
An intimate look into the mind of a mad women. Items of interest include pickled hands, artwork both dark and beautiful, seasonal wonders and much more. If youre not afraid of the dark, this is an excellent place to find a few oddities.
Meh. Its mostly a lot of overpriced retail items. For example, their framed butterflies/insects can be purchased online for a fraction of the price. Yes, supporting local stores is awesome, but Noir lost a lot of their soul when they moved to the West Bottoms.
We are regulars at Noir, and have been for several years. Pam and her staff are kind, knowledgeable, and fun. I have picked up many one of a kind items for my home, and as gifts in the parlour. She has been a huge supporter of kids art and has had it displayed in with merchandise.Additionally Pam generously donated prizes to a nonprofit that I run, and promotes our organization.I cannot say enough good things about Noir, or Pam.
This has been my favorite part of this trip! What a unique and beautifully macabre store! If youre in the area, you definitely need to check this place out!
I love this place. They have amazing finds and interesting pieces. Noir is more than a curiosities store as they host various events in their parlor as well. I would highly recommend Noir Arts and Oddities to anyone.
Fantastic oddities and curiosities, always fun to stroll through. Not for the faint of mind or heart though. If you cant stand a dead animal in a jar, skip this one.
Id give it 5 stars because its a very cool shop for the theme that it is. Its full of dark things that are very fitting to its name. Perfect place to shop for those who like fun, odd, creepy stuff! The reason I gave it 4 stars is because there is a spiritual feeling in this store that is so dark and heavy that it made me sick to be there. The feeling is particularly weighty upstairs in the store. If you are very sensitive to the spiritual realm, you may find the building less enjoyable to be in, so shop fast and get out!
Super cool place, lots and lots of interesting stuff! The staff is very nice and helpful, if youre into anything obscura, this is the place.
Nifty little store tucked away in the Bottoms. Definitely has some oddities and interesting collectables. The staff was very nice and the owner was even on the floor talking to customers. Very clean, well organized, and maintains a welcoming, interesting atmosphere.
One of my favorite places to go in KC. Great oddities, friendly staff in an up and coming area of Kansas City! Keep your eye on the West Bottoms. Thats where at! Ive gotten so many books and weird nick knacks here! Always make my way here every time I come to KC!
This is one of my most favorite places! I love going here and seeing all the great stuff. Its creepy beautiful 🖤 the inventory changes frequently so youll always find something new every week. 🖤Amy C.
This is one of the most unique & interesting stores I have ever been in. There is nothing quite like it. Even if you dont buy anything, it is worth a visit.
There is no cooler shop than Noir Arts & Oddities in the KC area. It caters to those of us who can appreciate both the light & the dark sides of life. There is art of all kinds, jewelry, taxidermy, clothing, antique medical instruments & bottles, dolls, memento mori items and much more. You can count on finding something to intrigue you and probably give you goose bumps!
Incredible selection of creepy crawly goods. Loved the set up of the inside. Staff was very friendly. :)
Unique little shop. Would recommend stopping by if youre in the area.
This place is incredible! I love the selection of items I can get here. Both Pam and her staff are knowledgeable and down to earth. This place is definitely worth checking out.
Definitely an odd store, think like an antique store but dedicated to old medical stuff and crystals and such. If you like things on the dark side definitely check it out.
Very cool shop with unique and delightfully creepy wares. The shop owner, Pam, is very friendly and approachable.
Little place that sells all kinds of curiosities. Go check it out next time you are close.
Love it here! The owner is very passionate about what she does and interacting with her customers and clientele. Cant wait to see what they do after hours straight their new location.
The best selection of oddities and gifts on the darker side to be found in KC.
Lots of oddities and fascinating things both from past and present, some to look at and some to buy. If you enjoy the darker parts of life, this place is for you!
Extraordinary collection of curious items, ranging from old medical devices and old (empty) bottles of medicine from ages past. Polite shop keeper. Good mini-museum of bizarre items for purchase.
Expected a bit more...Reply to Management: My expectations were that the shop would offer a full line of metaphysical supplies. However, the decor, layout and inventory were more like a Halloween closeout sale.
This place has tons of awesome authentic items. This place even has great prices. Some of the best employees i have ever spoken to in a small buisness. Highly recommend if oddities are your interest.
Definitely not for everyone, but I loved it. Im now collecting all of a set of posters they have. Its great.
Noir was fantastic. Considering the space, they had a great selection of curios, antiques, and oddities. The staff was friendly and informative, while the prices were relatively low for that type of store. I visited while on vacation, and will be sure to go back when Im in the area.
Very different! Creepy but exciting. Full of real organs in jars, caskets, skeletons, super old sergical and chemistry equipment. Fun place to walk around and explore.
My friend brought me to Noir...she really liked it. The place is small.. It has all this weird and obscure stuff.. The little Xmas tree they had in there was decorated with images of satanic nature... I couldnt believe it...myriad devils and demons.. I would never set foot in that place ever... Noir means black in French..so basically they are dealers in the black arts. One of the images on their cards is used by the people who are doing Spirit Cooking...
I was hoping for more interesting items for sale, and I found them, right around the corner at a different place called Stuffology. I think the Atlas Obscura write-up of this shop of over-generous. I just didnt think it was as odd as I was hoping it would be, but if you are looking for antique medical instruments and old insect collections, well, they have that stuff.
Fun collection of offbeat merchandise. Interesting neighborhood.
Love this place! Makes me want to move to Kansas city! The owner is the coolest and nicest person ever! She goes out of her way for her costumers and her store is a one of a kind experience!
The most amazing place. It is absolutely gorgeous. Such a wonderful treasure!
This shop is not only my favorite oddities shops in the area but one of my favorites from across the United States. I love having a mix of hard to find, curated items and other items from my favorite candle, enamel pin, and print makers.
This is the only place I can find these incredible wares.
Fun store for the unusual! Terrific and enthusiastic owner and staff. I shop there every chance I get.
Love this place! If your looking for something different this is the only place to!!
Definately expected way more. It was a tiny room with a few vendors. Nothing really odd.
Love coming to this shop! Such curiosities! The owner and staff are friendly and helpful!
They have some nice weird stuff
Great selection of unique oddities, with a strong focus on medical implements and dark, paganistic items. Prices are on the high end, but not sure where else you can find these kinds of things in store locally.
Cute shop! A little out of the way and a smaller collection than most antique/oddity stores. Still earn my 5/5 for sure.
Very cool, one-of-a-kind boutique (boo-tique?) filled to the brim with creepy, awesome, off-the-wall stuff. Into apothecaries? Love historical scientific or medical stuff? Need a gift for the Wednesday Addams in your life? Look no further. This place is eerily excellent, and the shopkeep is as great as her wares!
So many awesome and unique pieces that you wont find anywhere else!
Very unique place great owners you wont find these things elsewhere
One of my favorite places! The owner helped me find a home for my Keane paintings. Would recommend to all!
Lots of great oddities to choose from. Book and print selection is great
An interesting, eclectic shop for those of us who like things a little out of the ordinary. The jarred specimans are fascinating.
I love shopping at Noir for unique jewelry, clothing, house items, and especially books. This store supports a lot of lesser known artists and has a great variety for those who enjoy art, oddities, antiques, and taxidermy.
My favorite little parlor! I love that the owner is always changing the inventory and features Kansas City artwork often. When my family comes in from out of town, they request that we stop in!
Neat store! The owner was fantastic and full of cool information!
It was amazing! Pamela the owner & very nice!
So much amazing stuff
Full of unique items- so many things to see and lots to learn here! Everyone in the shop is friendly and knowledgable- hands down one of my favorite places in KC!
Amazing staff. Awesome place.
A delightful experience. Strange and unusual items and very friendly atmosphere that welcomes you to explore.
Odd, strange and awesome stuff.... love it
Loved it! Exceedingly creepy and wonderful.
This is a great shop for finding the weird and Macabre they have a great assortment of strange stuff and the stores setup is amazing.
If you like the strange, the dark, and the artistic then this is the place for you. Friendly staff and always something new to see. P.S. I love the new location!
Quirky dark goth store with all sorts of odd stuff.
Love this store and keep going back and getting more and more for my collection!
If you like things of the macabre this is the place for you. There is something for everyones dark side here, even if your dark side only comes out at Halloween.
This place is super cool and the employees are very nice
Awesome selections of oddities and more. I would visit more often, if only I lived closer!
Definitely a stop you have to make when in the West Bottoms. Love this place!
