Not bad. Worst part of the meal was a guest came in and rudely asked to be seated after waiting no more than half a minute. The place was a bit busy and every one is understaffed right now, that last could have chilled out at 9am. Only reason for the 4 stars is because its good, just had better but dont let that discourage anyone from going. They are friendly and nice.

The food was delicious and served very fast. Our server was friendly and nice. The pear oven-baked pancake was amazing! Weve driven passed it hundreds of times but never stopped. Now we regret not stopping. We look forward to our next visit.
Not impressed with this place. Spent $40 for two that I can never get back.I didn’t want to go to a chain restaurant for breakfast and found this place on Google that looked decent. The place was a bit outdated but it had a patio and indoor dining. The patio was full so we sat inside.My mom got the eggs and 4 sausage links with hash browns. I got eggs Benedict with a side of pancakes. Then a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.The food was very basic and average compared to a home breakfast. I would come here for sweets like French toast, waffles, and crepes. Two and a half stars.I found out later that orange juice comes in two sizes and I was automatically given the larger size without being asked. That was a sneaky way to up sale.
Place is very friendly and food is outstanding. You dont have to worry about not getting enough because they feed you well
Fantastic no frills diner with fresh food, good coffee, and charming atmosphere. The pancakes and waffles are fluffy, the omelettes are as well. I tried the Corned Beef Hash Omelette and was fantastic but the star of our table was their Oven Baked Pancakes. Its basically a Dutch Baby and everything you want with crispy edges and gooey middle.Definitely worth a try for breakfast if youre in the area. If definitely go back!
Very kind staff. Food was hot and fresh and came within just a few minutes! The best pancakes Ive had in ten years!! I was visiting from Chicago and decided to take a stroll thru the neighborhood and saw this place had almost 5 stars. No regrets.
This place was a good find. The Continental Crepes, Baked Cinnamon Pancake (I know, baked?) and Eggs Benedict did not disappoint. The Continental Crepes were the perfect balance between the sourcream filling and blackberry jam. Be prepared to wait a bit longer when ordering the baked pancakes. Service was good, all the staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend this little gem.

In a nutshell: Even Dennys is better, and cheaper. This is what 15 bucks and some change gets you: four pieces of bread that were maybe set next to a frying pan, with some canned diced peaches on top, and some poor quality maple FLAVORED syrup, and THATS IT. No sides. Nothing. Soggiest mess Ive ever seen.
Tried the baked omlete. Didnt like it much, some of the eggs were wet, sogging and soft. Put the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and corn beef hash was slamming.
Food was delicious. I love pancakes. I also ordered the green chili omelette which was good. It did need some salt and a little more kick from the green chili. I love spice. Service was also excellent.
Great customer service! My Pear crepes were delicious and their whipped cream was to die for. I definitely recommend for families or just to enjoy good company.
The food and staff were great, but for those with hearing problems it is a bit too noisy. If you go then sign in on arrival and wait till called. Not obvious that is how it works.

Save yourself the headache, service was literally nonexistent. Let them sort their staff out.They forgot about us for just short of an hour (9:45am-10:38), and despite us (with a Pregnant woman at our table) asking multiple times where our waitress/waiter was, 2 other tables sat, ordered, ate, paid and left before we even had our order taken. Eventually we had to give our order to the hostess as she was seating another table. For the hour long wait, nobody checked on us without us having to ask, and the first 2 times we got totally b.s.d with a ill check for you never to return and never received an apology, not even an explanation.It would have been faster and less of a headache to go shopping, cook, and clean the dishes. Whats the point of going out to eat if your experience is actually worse than doing dishes?All it would have taken was any single one of those staff we asked to actually do a check and make sure someone had our table.
Food was good. A little on the high side for slow service. But all in all, worth the wait.

Sorry no pics. Had the eggs florentine with a side of pancakes. Probably one of the best breakfasts in a long time. They do take a minute but it is worth it. Noise level can get somewhat high at times, so may not be best choice if you like it quiet while having your meal. Overall great alternative to chain restaurants like a Dennys or IHOP.
Quaint, breakfast eatery! Reminds me of europe, switzerland. Service wss excellent. Great decaf coffee. Ordered a waffle that I customized, bacon waffle with pecans, just a $1.00 more added. Just wish it was alittle more well done. Next time Ill ask for it. Convenient to hang out while I had my car serviced.

First time visit. Service was fast and friendly. It was a full house, but even the Sunday morning capacity did not keep Lesly from providing great service to us.Our order of the pear waffles with a side of ham, and the corned beef hash, eggs, and hash browns—was cooked to perfection and plated perfectly for presentation. The coffee was strong and classic.Although the interior may be dated to some—it could also be quite intentionally chabby chic decor—as to follow the theme of a more nostalgic “classic” pancake house. Inside and outside (lanai) seating. Parking is limited to the front (curbside), and also at the rear of the building.The Sunshine Pancake House seems to be one of the rare gems of La Mesa, that despite the changes in its surroundings, have along with the long-time residents—have managed to stay rooted and loyal to this city.
This was a great place to stop for breakfast. The servers were very nice and the food was cooked perfectly. I had a Belgian waffle that we served so warm and soft I was impressed. Id def return anytime.
Come hungry, leave disappointed. There was almost nobody else in the entire restaurant, it was just me and my wife, and it took them 45 minutes to bring out our two entrees. The whole inside is miserably hot and they dont turn on the air-conditioning. The service is so unattentive that I had a flag waitresses down multiple times just to get a cup of coffee or turn in my order. The waitress only came by once to ask if we needed anything. The food portions are small and unimpressive. Food does actually taste good, but nothing special. Very average and mediocre, like cafeteria food. All in all, while the food was adequate, the service and wait time was really frustrating.
It was good and all....just wish they got my order for takeout correct. I was looking forward to try the French toast, but the crepes were good.... I would’ve gotten them with something other than strawberries tho. Please check your takeout orders before giving them to the customers. It sucks when you’re anticipating your food only to open it and not find what you were craving for 😤

Excellent brunch/breakfast option. The staff is super friendly amd the place is big. Parking can be a bit tricky but you can find aditional parking at the taco shop parking lot across the street.

The food is excellent as is the service. My first time here. Im glad that I came. its a long way from my house but I happened to be in the area so I tried it.its beautifully appointed, the coffee is good and the food is excellent. I was fortunate to have an omelet and my daughter loved her eggs and bacon. The pancakes however are the best part. Try it, Ill be there again soon.

Got eggs Benedict, no Canadian bacon so they gave me a slice of bacon, instead of accommodating the customer for something I’m paying for and not receiving. They charged an extra two dollars for bacon. Food was decent could use more flavor. Waitress could be more attentive to the customer as well. Clean place.

Yesterday we went to the Sunshine Pancake House for breakfast. They have a great menu to choose from. I got the eggs Florentine with hashbrowns. Their hollandaise sauce is so yummy.And the hashbrowns were good too. My husband got bacon & eggs with a side of pancakes which I had one of they were good. If you have never been a must try restaurant. People are friendly and food is great.
Cute and homey atmosphere with delicious food. A tad pricey for breakfast food, but portions are generous and did I mention delicious? Service was great, and our coffee mugs were never empty. I recommend the blueberry pancakes. Yum!

We ordered the banana nut pancakes and the Sunshine omelet. The pancakes came with this tropical syrup which was a game changer. It enhance the flavors of the pancake and it was very delicious. The omelet was so fluffy and not greasy, which we love that it was made into perfection. Staff was attentive and we would definitely going back.

Amazing. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I’ve gone to far too many breakfast joints and thought to myself I could’ve made it better at home. This place was by far the best place I have ever been to. The French toast was delicious just perfect and the butter was whipped. The banana pancakes actually had real bananas inside and the fruit toppings were fresh. It’s not a fancy place it’s comfortable and clean and the service was friendly and you can just tell they use quality ingredients. Yum yum yum is all I can say. They got some amazing chefs back there.

Not a bad small local business. Servers are polite and attentive, but it does get busy on the weekends. Food isnt bad but not a tremendous amount of variety. My only real gripe is the style of omelettes. There not bad, and they certainly are hearty, but they are oven baked. The menu advertises them as taking longer to prepare but well worth the wait. I would have to disagree. Theres nothing fantastic about an oven baked omelette that a traditional, folded, pan-prepared omelette doesnt have. Im hungry, I would like an omelette..... give me omelette. Just wish there was an option for the same dish that doesnt take 3 times the length to prepare with no pay off.
I had the Eggs Benedict. They were perfection! I should have taken a picture but I didnt. Youll have to take my word for it that they were as pretty as they were delicious. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious as well. Their coffee is great too and my waiter came by often to keep it filled and hot. I appreciate that in a breakfast waiter
The omelette and pancakes was really really good!! I had never really noticed this restaurant before. They are s little pricey for breakfast foods, but good service, great quality, and decent proportions, so I will definitely go back.

First time here. I expected it to be cuter...but it was OK. We had decaf coffee that was good. Diet coke was just a can - had to ask for a glass. My Baked Pear pancake was good, didnt really taste like pear and the pears were lost in the hot Pancake. Hash was good - my husband asked for the eggs on the side and the waiter said that was how they came. The menu says 2 eggs on top - waiter was surprised to see that. A waitress said that she would bring us more decaf...never did. Had to flag down our waiter for more coffee - he never offered. Biggest disappointment was by brothers Apple Waffle. It was supposed to come with cinnamon glazed apples and Apple cinnamon syrup. The apple on top were raw - it was just a sliced apple, maybe with a little cinnamon. Seriously, a Raw apple on a waffle?? We might go back. Liked the puffy pancake and hash.

Every other time I have been to this place it has been amazing... except for this day. I dont know if everyone is new or what but, the service was pretty bad, the wait staff was just standing around looking at their phones half the time. Also, if youre not a fan of eggs, dont ever order the baked pancake because it is basically just a pile of eggy gooey dough. Not my cup of tea, even if it did smell awesome with all the cinnamon on it. I cant say Ill never be back, because who can live without that pear syrup... but I hope they can better train some of their staff.
Very quaint locale. Lots of charm.No frills breakfast and presentation, but that what I was looking for.Healthy sized portions, as is common in places like this. Pancakes were very fluffy and ham was cooked well. Eggs were made to order and served promptly.Friendly staff too!

This is a little Hispanic settle breakfast house serving American breakfasts. It was surprisingly good, but kind of a loss locating if you eat on the patio. The waitresses were really nice and even brought a pancake dessert for my mother in laws birthday. Good food and large portions. I would recommend to someone looking for a nice breakfast joint.

Just moved a couple blocks away from here so i took my teenage daughter. I had eggs bacon and pancakes. All yummy. My daughter really loves French toast and even though it was Sourdough(which she normally wont eat) she liked it as well. It was a good breakfast. Breakfast prices. Good service. No complaints.
Really humble and kind people working there. You can tell walking in that they really work hard to make your dinning experience the best they can possibly make it so. Quick service and even better tasting food. Would recommend as a hidden gem of a restaurant.
This is a great little restaurant, offering a tasty selection of omelettes, classic breakfast fare, and a wide variety of filled crepes. Florentine eggs Benedict is excellent! However, the standout plate is the oven-baked pear pancake: crispy, moist, sweet, hint of savory, and packed with pear. Dont expect a normal pancake, its cooked in a deep cast-iron skillet, and feeds two easily. Service has been prompt and friendly, patio seating for pleasant mornings. Will be returning many times!
